nappyaddict · 28/06/2008 22:05

i went to the one at camber and there wasn't any passes. i went to check in and everyone else stayed in the car. it was a sun holiday that my friend couldn't use. they didn't ask for any proof of who i was - just the confirmation letter my friend had given me.

Nemoandthefishes · 29/06/2008 11:12

you ready for monday NBG??
Actually just realised monday is tomorrow...arghhhh!

Nemoandthefishes · 01/07/2008 19:03

NBG did you manage to stay it out??? We got there yesterday dinner time and had left by 11.30am today

nappyaddict · 01/07/2008 23:47

oh no ... what was wrong?

mum2jakeyroo · 02/07/2008 12:25

why nemo? We are going on Monday

LilRedWG · 02/07/2008 12:37

Pray tell more Nemo. We are due to go to Prestatyn in a week or so and are having serious doubts, because of reviews. If the weather happens to be fantastic that weekend we may go and use it as a base, but if it's not we won't.

mum2jakeyroo · 02/07/2008 12:40

LRW when are you going. We are going to prestatyn on Monday.

LilRedWG · 02/07/2008 12:41

Friday 11th for three nights. As I said, we're still undecided, as if it is filthy etc (as some review online suggest) then we don't really want to waste the petrol money driving from Worcestershire.

How long will you be there?

mum2jakeyroo · 02/07/2008 12:44

We leave on Friday 11th. If its any help I can post on Monday to let you know what its like

LilRedWG · 02/07/2008 12:48

Wow - that would be wonderful if you could, but please don't go out of your way. If you are not computer bound anyway, then don't logon just for me. I think we'll probaby give it a go - it'll be fun to be by the sea

LilRedWG · 02/07/2008 12:48

Meant to say Thank You!

mum2jakeyroo · 02/07/2008 12:53

For us it a couple of hours away but tbh just thought it would be a break. We were gonna choose Southport but I grew up not far from there and had heard there wasn't a lot there anymore so plumped for wales as even if site is rubbish there is plenty to do. My dp has internet on his phone so won't be any hassle.

Nemo - poor you and the DCs

Live from Prestantyn sands: Accomodation isn't too bad. It's basic but to be fair we've probably paid to stay in worse. For example we paid to stay in Haven in Ayr and it was a dump, the worse thing is we actually spent less to do disneyland paris the year after and had fantastic accommodation there. It looks clean enough, we arrived just after lunch and they said we hadn;t confirmed the booking but soon rectified it. We went for a swim as we couldn't pick the room keys up until 4pm. We were told to go to the fun factory to collect keys in line green, so after walking round the complex for 15 minutes we found ourselves in the main entertainment stage area and stood in line to collect keys, it's a bit of a ball ache but takes less time than originally thought. We soon pitched up outside the apartment and went for a look around. DS1 (3) freaked out and hated it, we think he though we were moving house and would be living here for ever. We contemplated giving up and going home but a quick car unpack and his favourite duvet on his bed with cushion and donald duck and he's fine. DS2 (21months) was unfazed by it all and despite only being in the room an hour the pair of them af had each other in tears about 3 times as well as mum and dad pulling hair out by the hand full. Business as usual.

They've been promised happy meals tonight if they behave, so far its bread and water with pyjamas with arrows on.

So overall first impressions its not brilliant, its just BASIC but like I said we've suffered worse for a lot of money and as it's free it will do just fine. These things arent really our scene and I can't see us partaking in all the shenanigans these things usually involve.

LilRedWG · 07/07/2008 23:38

Thanks for the update

We've kind of decided that unless the weather takes a miraculous turn we're not spening £50 on diesel to get there and back which is a shame, 'cause I love the seaside.

Have a good holiday and I hope the DSes enjoyed their Happy Meals.

Thanks again!

mum2jakeyroo · 09/07/2008 09:14

It was forcast rain yesterday but was bright all day. We strolled on the beach at Rhyll and it was warm but breezy. There is a lovely sea aquarium there. There really is enough to do nearby if you don't like the 'resort'.

Within the apartment the bath is an odity within its self. It's about 60% the length of a normal bath with a kind of bench seat moulded in. The Shower is like at leisure centres where you have to keep pressing the button every 10 seconds and there was no actual plug for the bath. Luckily it was discovered the kitchen sink plug fits. I could understand the shelf being for disabled people if the showers beam actually reached you while sat on it but the best it does is your toes. I suppose with the bath full you could wash your legs in it. We've been sitting DC on the shelf and shoving DP in the normal bit in an odd yoga pose to steady them.

Hi there,
We are in a dilemma! We booked a weekend via sun holidays promotion. We are going to Prestatyn Sands end of august. We did not declare our youngest child (she was 7 months old when we booked it, now 10 months old). I stupidly didnt think you would have to pay to take an infant as they usually go free on things like this. When our confirmation details came through and it stated that only persons on the form would be admitted, i panicked! I realised i should have paid for our little one to go so i immediately rang Prestatyn up and asked if i could add her on but was told no because all the accomodation has been allocated so there was no way round it! We really want to go but how on earth can we get round it??
We thought of hiding her as we go in or saying that she's staying with someone else who's coming later! We dont know what to do yet!
We've never been to a Pontins site before. Does anyone know if they issue passes to each person to use the club & facilities etc?
We'd be grateful if anyone has any suggestions as to how we can get round this as i'm really worried we're going to be turned away!
Thanks
Louise

tiredemma · 15/08/2008 10:08

where are you going to hide her? In the boot?

VictorianSqualor · 15/08/2008 10:17

I've been to prestatyn sands.
You just drive through the gates and one person can go to the reception to pick up your keys etc whilst everyone else stays in the car.
You can easily take a 10month old without being noticed.
I don't think we had passes for the children tbh, just me & dp.
