Bit confused. Have got the Classic accomodation and it says its sleeps 6 - 2 twin rooms and a double sofabed. Does that mean we can have 6 people? Or are we still only allowed 4 but in a 6 person apartment? We had to pay the £40 extra as they didnt have the free ones avaliable at a weekend which is what we needed. Would be fab if we can have an extra 2 people.

I think my mum is coming with us so she gets a free hol in exchange for some babysitting! hehe!!

bluefox · 17/05/2008 16:00

Hi - we managed to get Hemsby 30 June BUT I have since read some reviews about this site and they are generally not good. Dont know whether to bother. Anyone been?

ScoobyDoo · 17/05/2008 16:07

Blimey i just read some reviews for hemsby, southport & prestatyn & they are all rather shocking, leaves alot of food for though indeed.....

bluefox · 17/05/2008 16:12

Yes it is quite shocking - dirty, stained linen - poo on walls - people leaving before even staying one night - others leaving early- OMG

bluefox · 17/05/2008 16:23

I think people may exaggerate in these reviews so am going to keep an open mind and just go! Im sure it will be ok.

bubblerock · 17/05/2008 17:52

crikey, I just read some too!! They vary so much though, how can someone rate it a 1/10 then the next person give it 9/10??? I think I'll go expecting the worse and hope I get a nice surprise

bluefox · 17/05/2008 18:42

Yes there are some good reviews - good entertainment, fab staff - which is probably the most important - maybe some people just like to complain about anything. Im sure we will be pleasantly surprised.

bluefox · 17/05/2008 18:44

Many years ago I went to a holiday camp at Prestatyn. I think it was Pontins and it was fine.

bubblerock · 17/05/2008 20:24

Anyone tried recently, have they all gone now?

OP posts:
chloemegjess · 17/05/2008 21:48

I wouldn't worry about the reviews. At the end of the day, you are not paying for anything so you havent got much to loose. Also, the fact that they are giving these away free, suggests that they think that once you have come once, you will enjoy and come again/recommend. Maybe they have resently improved?

I always take some cleaning bits with me just incase, then just give everything a quick clean when we get there. may sound mad but takes 20mins and you know everything is clean then. (you wouldn't think my own house is such a state!!!)

pucca · 17/05/2008 21:51

We went to the Prestatyn one in Feb, and it was fine, was clean enough and the entertainment was good for the kids, a nice break away actually, the chalets are fabulous but certainly livable for a few days, you only use it as a base anyhow.

pucca · 17/05/2008 21:51

aren't fabulous i meant to say lol.

Nemoandthefishes · 18/05/2008 07:29

do the sites have swimming pools or not??thats all my lot are bothered about..lol
We are lucky as we only live 30mins from southport soit if is really dire then we will just go home

BexieID · 18/05/2008 07:56

Info on Southport one here Nemo.

None of the dates were any good, the same with the blardy Sun £9.50/£15 holidays as we have to have our hols when the PIL do as MIL has Tom whilst i'm at work, which is very annoying!

Nbg · 18/05/2008 07:59

I read some pretty dire reviews last night.
All saying the same things, revolting carpets, dirty rooms, manky beds etc etc.

I remember the room we had at the Butlins in Bognor.
It was their top rated room, well chalet, and it wasnt very good, but we only used it as a base and just buggered off for the day.
It was summer holidays too so we couldnt even get in the pool.

Nemoandthefishes · 18/05/2008 09:44

thats what I am thinking NBG it will be a basic base..still wondering how to sneak DD2 in though..stress head I am..lol

Southport one is about 2 mins from the beach etc so if weather is good will be great.

Nbg · 18/05/2008 09:47

I rang them up again yesterday afternoon to get some more upgrade prices and to see how much more we would have to pay for ds2 if he went , I was told he was already on the booking!!!
So they haven't charged me for him going.

It would cost us £40 to have a 2 bed budget apartment though.
I realised last night that ds1 will need a cot too and because our travel cot will be used by ds2, I will tell them that I have tried ds1 in the bed and he wont stay in it so can we hire a cot.
Its only £10 so not all that bad.

Nemoandthefishes · 18/05/2008 09:49

mmm now I wonder what will happen if I phone when details come through and I say dd2 hasnt been added but will be bringing a travel cot?

Nemoandthefishes · 18/05/2008 09:50

both girls are in beds so was just going to top n tail them in a single..lol

Nemoandthefishes · 18/05/2008 09:50

both girls are in beds so was just going to top n tail them in a single..lol

Nbg · 18/05/2008 09:50

Do it!
Its got to be worth a try.

Dh is still debating it all atm.
Doesnt know whether to upgrade or even go at all because he reckons we'll spend a fortune when we're there on food and stuff.

Nemoandthefishes · 18/05/2008 09:54

I just thought would throw in some flash wipes and easy to cook food..chippy/pier is about 5 mins in car so not too bad.

Nbg · 18/05/2008 09:57

The food there will be a complete rip off wont it.

Will deffo eat elsewhere if we go.

I'm going to get dh to make his mind up about it. If he doesnt want to go then I can pass it on to someone on here.

schneebly · 18/05/2008 10:01

there are tons of good places to eat in Southport those of you coming here.

bubblerock · 18/05/2008 10:05
