Everything a penny?

Hi, I’ve recently stumbled across a site called everything a penny, where everything is a penny, obviously. They just make you pay for shipping which usually equals what you’d expect to pay for the items but a bit cheaper, however they’re doing a Black Friday deal which means you only pay so much for so many items. For example, they have 5 items for £5 shipping. They sell lots of different things including phones, one of which I looked would normally be over £300 shipping but now I can get it in the £5 shipping deal, surely this is too good to be true right?

Has anyone used this site? It seemed believable before but now that deal seems beyond ridiculous

I have just found this site and placed an order I thought why not it cost £5.09 and I don't mind spending that to take a chance

SophieMay123 · 06/12/2019 12:30

I’ve been wondering the same thing, the google reviews are very mixed. I recognise a lot of the baby clothing from Matalan aswell so if they are them they are good quality! I went to the checkout bit on the website and it only allows you to pay with klarna or instant bank transfer (but said you couldn’t use a debit or credit card for this) so I was confused how to even pay when I don’t have a klarna account!

SophieMay123 · 06/12/2019 12:31

Do you mind me asking what method of payment you used please? It didn’t come up with anything I’ve been used to using like PayPal or even just putting card details in x

Charline1982 · 06/12/2019 13:17

At the end it shows up with a message of your order and order number, it shows there sort and account numberyou have to send a bank transfer to them with your order number as the ref, mine has went through says paid on order update, I'm not even sure if I will receive any items but it was only £5.09 so not to fussed if I lose that just to take the chance

Berrylove · 06/12/2019 14:40

Ooh let us know what happens if it’s worth ordering from @Charline1982

I use the site 'everythingfivepounds' , the shipping is based on weight, the clothes are of very good quality. and I've been impressed with them so far.

jadeh1215 · 06/12/2019 16:11

Hiya, iv been looking at bits on this site too! Wanting to take advantage of the cheaper shipping prices atm! Did u pay through klarna? Never heard of it before!

Gingerkittykat · 06/12/2019 19:17

I think anywhere that says it can deliver android phones, trainers with the nike tick on them or drones for 1p + £1 postage is highly suspect. It's not worth the risk letting them have your bank details.

I couldn't see where the company was based but some of the bad English on the site makes me suspect it is China.

JenniferM1989 · 06/12/2019 19:33

This is what is called a shipping scam. Basically, a company can get away with not delivering your item(s) as long as they refund you the purchase price of the item, 1p in this case. So basically, they will charge you shipping and never have to refund it, just the purchase. They say to wait 40 days for delivery and ask you to pay via bank transfer so that you can't cancel the transaction. They'll operate for 40 days until they get closed down and have scammed millions off of people but not face any legal ramifications as they'll offer to refund everyone their 1p purchase payments

Rovemongoose123 · 08/12/2019 20:42

I paid by PayPal on the 25th of November. £55. So if it is a scam, can I get it back from PayPal? The bank transfer option wasn’t there when I paid.

Rolosx · 10/12/2019 07:46

I don’t think this is a fair comment. You’re basically shutting down a company based on claims that you’re not backing up. What you have said is very broad and if you do a quick google search, most top branded companies in the uk operate this way and do not refund the postage costs to customers. It’s annoying to read when someone makes a claim about a person or company based on a ‘general claim’ which I think is a load of rubbish. I’ve ordered from this company and received part of my order and they’ve been extremely helpful in replying back to my emails informing me that the rest of my order should follow within the next week or so and I’m more than happy to wait for it. You can’t expect to pay pennies and get a ritz service but at the same time don’t shoot companies down with false claims without being able to back it up. Out or curiosity I asked them also about if I want to return and get a refund or if the rear of the order didn’t turn up how do I go about getting a refund and they confirmed that I would be refunded the entire amount including shipping x

rid1985 · 10/12/2019 09:09

@Rolosx - OK so people should be able to back up their comments? Would you mind backing up your comment by supplying proof that you have had your items delivered?! I can not find a single person online who has had their items delivered.
Also it appears you may have been lied to - taken from their returns policy:
Shipping
You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.
So no, they will not allow you to return items and receive a refund on shipping costs.
One final thing - you don't happen to live near Cambridge do you?

MamaOfThreex · 10/12/2019 10:51

@Rolosx

This has given me some hope it’s real! 🙏 after looking at their Facebook page I couldn’t find any reviews or comments of people receiving their orders so panic started to set in!
I’ve spent over £90 and it is most of my Christmas presents for my children. How long did your delivery take if you don’t mind me asking? ☺️

Tina97 · 10/12/2019 11:05

I'd absolutely love to see some proof @Rolosx
I've made 8 orders, never received any. I am a young mum and it has ruined our Christmas cause they were supposed to be presents ! I've emailed them, whatsapped them, messaged them on fb and no one single response! Now you can't even comment on fb or message them cause they've blocked it! When I commented on one of their posts my comment got deleted and I wasn't the only one. Whoever is making money on poor parents I wish them all the worst, karma is definitely coming for them.

Rolosx · 10/12/2019 11:28

@rid1985 I'm not here to cause issues which I feel is how my post has come across perhaps. I'm not here to tell you to order or not from them. I'm just saying that i made an order and some of it has come and whenever I have emailed them, they've got back to me within a day or two. I saw the same thing with the refund thing and that is why I asked them about getting a refund if I didn't get the rest of my order. All they said was if i didn't receive the rest of the order then they would refund me the total amount. I haven't asked them if i need to return something and refunds but reading what it says i would assume they mean that whatever you are returning back to you then you would have to pay the cost it costs to send it back which they will not cover. Again, im sharing my experience with these lot, i'm not influencing anyones decision to buy or not to buy from them. If however they don't refund when they say they would then yes they are in the wrong. But i have no reason to think or believe otherwise at the moment.

@MamaOfThreex i ordered 23 bits and i've got 7 of the so far. Ordered about a month or so ago. They have said i should receive the rest of my order this week and anything remaining next week. Which is fine with me. Again, if it doesn't come then they have said they will refund me so as long as they stick to their word im not fussed.

@Tina97 i found that emailing them through the actual contact page on the website to get a quicker response than any other way. I also whatsapped them and it didn't get delivered. I then emailed them from an email they sent me and i didn't get a reply for almost a week and then when i emailed them using the form on the website i got a response within a couple of days and since then they have replied to my email within a day. Just sharing my experience. If you haven't got your order yet and its past the time they have told you that you will get it why not just ask them for a refund and then buy it again from somewhere else?

@womblemerrychristmasofthigh I saw this post this morning and thought i'd respond with my experience. I don't join forums like this normally because of all the politics it causes.

MamaOfThreex · 10/12/2019 11:55

I messaged their Facebook page on Sunday and got a response the same day confirming that my orders will be delivered by Christmas Eve, i also whatsapped then but wasn’t delivered so maybe not being used? I’m really hoping that it’s not a scam 😩

So many mixed reviews! Has anyone tried searching the phone number from whatsapp on Facebook? - I tried and came up with someone that I’m friends with🤨

MamaOfThreex · 10/12/2019 11:56

@Tina97 when did you place your orders? X

BaubleTheLumpOfCoal · 10/12/2019 12:17

Are you telling me there's a site where I can buy mobile phones for a penny?

Hmm
simonh1965 · 10/12/2019 12:35

I have ordered only 9 items taking up there offer £5 delivery so £5.09 total and thought was all fine first of all but no reply to e mails no reply to whatsapp checking other things trust pilot reviews ones who first reviewed only there first post of review one dated 29 th october say they got there order in 42 days but site only opened up 10th october so not true i dont mind losing the £5.09 if comes out to be a scam jsut feel sorry for the 100s of people who ordered a lot for christmas who cant afford to lose the money . Maybe it not a scam but until get the order will just think is a scam so beware wait for some honest reviews even facebook site people saying they got there order but dont reply to ? other people have left them

Thestrangestthing · 10/12/2019 12:41

I've just placed an order. Chose the bank transfer option so I'll wait to see what happens on this thread for a few hours before I send the payment 😂 its only a fiver but I would rather not waste it

Tina97 · 10/12/2019 12:42

@Rolosx okay so why can't you just post a picture of items you received? So far it looks like they paid you to write a good reviews about them, but you can prove me wrong and I am willing to apologise.

Lisamaz1994 · 10/12/2019 13:40

I agree. Why cant you post the items you have received so far? I ordered beggining of november ive received nothing. Ive whatsapped and fb messaged and heard nothing back at all. Because they wont even send. The whatsapp number is a UK mobile number which I find weird. The trust pilot reviews.. The only positive ones are fake. I saw an earlier good review which got removed which used the phrase AL SERVICE. The same as another review... Fishy fishy. I only spent a tenner. But others have spent loads. Im not expecting premium products or anything but Ide like something for the money sent. I hope its not a scam to rip people off near christmas.

MamaOfThreex · 10/12/2019 14:04

I got an email and text about an hour ago saying my orders have been shipped so I’ve emailed them asking which courier they use so I can go to them directly and if there is a way of tracking the order, will let you all know if I hear back! X
