hi ladies here is our new thread

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

That sound mint tea! We have no such stores up where I am

I had seen the joggers - thanks for reminding me They ask for them to have a navy zip up fleece or racksuit top. M&S ones are pull over style - I'll ask if it matters. Great link, cheers

roundabout1 · 08/10/2009 20:40

newspaper - Glad the party went well, def need other adults to help else you would be running round like a headless chicken. A big sticker deserved for the pta as well.

Golgi - glad the coat turned up. We're counting down the days til half term too.

Tea - Thanks for the hand holding, in need of that at the mo as a bit paranoid about everything. Have been feeling very nauseous, then felt better after tea & worried that i was feeling better then realised it was because I'd eaten loads, basically if I'm feeding my face I'm not too bad!

Well my dd goes into school happily with a big smile on her face. Just wish she would put her hand up & tell the teacher she needs the loo, we've had accidents every day this week, she's a bit discreet about it & would happily wee her pants in the corner & stay in wet clothes the rest of the day. Sticker chart doesn't seem to be working either. Mind you when I look back to how upset she was over everything to do with school at the beginning I suppose the toileting thing is quite minor, she's happy & that matters more. They had photo's done today so I was rushing round trying to find her one school cardi with the badge on & after all the panic the photo is of her lying down on a rug & you can't even see the uniform. Nice photo but I'm probably being old fashioned by thinking it's a bit unconventional for a school photo.

paisleyleaf · 08/10/2009 20:52

Congratulations Roundabout.
I'm having some bad behaviour and crankiness too. I do miss the way things were before school.

Newspaper, party sounds good
I can't do PTA as can't really do evenings, but I'm getting involved in other helpful ways....decorated the hall for harvest festival this week with some other mums.

Ixia, oh I know that snacking/proper dinner argument

newspaperdelivery · 08/10/2009 20:57

Our PTA's are just before pick up which is great For now, once I go back onto shifts it will be all hit and miss. We'll see how it goes. I haven't done anything yet. I've just turned up

Roundabout - I think that is a really positive way of looking at her wetting, she has had so much to take in that some thing was bound to give. It's amazing how much discomfort they will put up with. DD has held a poo the size of a haggis, all yesterday and today. Wouldn't it be easier to just go do it!!??

everything crossed for a happy pregnancy. x

paisleyleaf · 08/10/2009 21:26

Ixia, a few ideas on this thread

teafortwo · 09/10/2009 20:35

Erheeemmm.... laaaaydies... I do believe....

ITS FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which means we got though another week!!! Hurray for us!!!!

We have a home school book that so far has come home every Friday. This week it has a note in it saying the children will be tasting many different foods next week and could we send in something for the children to taste from our country.

The thing is no-one but the British like British food really. I was thinking would apple crumble be too terrible for dds French, Japanese, Russian and American classmates to stand?

And... on the coat front I suddenly remembered that a friend of ours had given dd a sensible and very warm coat a few years ago when it seemed laughable that she would ever be big enough to wear it... but guess what... we pulled it out, brushed it down, got dd to try it on and you've guessed it, it fits perfecly and looks simply stunning!!!

Now I need to sew the name tag and ribbon to hang it up from in and we are sorted for all Winter's brrrrrr brrrrr weather!

newspaperdelivery · 09/10/2009 20:48

Oh yum apple crumble. Or sticky toffee pud....drool.....

Yes another week nearer half term. DD1 went to an after school book club [where they sit and listen to a story] It gives me and dh an extre 45 mins of 'us' time as he is an early finish on Fridays. We'll see, I'm certainly not going to ask her. If she likes it fair enough, if not then home asap I say!

She said it was ok but the day was 'bad enough without extra' I think she likes school, just would rather be home. I feel like that about nearly everything that gets me out of bed before I am ready

Fish and Chips for tea and all asleep and cosy. Big weekend ahead!

newspaperdelivery · 09/10/2009 20:50

Great stuff about the coat tea!
Your school sounds so exciting and chic I bet Paris gets brrrr cold. Brrrr.

dd had her first French lesson. We had lots of 'bonsoir' and 'bonjour' yesterday. Bless. we got her French flashcards for her birthday. As yet to be opened....

teafortwo · 09/10/2009 21:56

Sounds like a perfect time to open the French cards to me!!!

I am glad to discover someone else who is a litle bit ooooh and aaaarrr about after school clubs. All the other Mummies at the school gate are buzzing about out of school clubs...

I am seriously considering NOT signing dd up for anything.

She is three and it seems a shame to spend precious dreaming and drawing and watching and playing jumping and climbing and chatting and dancing and knocking for a friend and digging for worms and wondering and imagining time being told what to do by an adult.

However... I have heard a rumour about a circus skills club that has got me twitching rather...

thegrammerpolicesic · 09/10/2009 22:14

Tea am largely with you guys too on the after school clubs. Kids need time just knocking about making their own amusement.

Aranea · 09/10/2009 22:32

Woo hoo it's Friday! Thank god for that. Dd1 so exhausted and annoying that I put her to bed three quarters of an hour early with no TV before bed. And got away with it too.

Completely agree about after school clubs... she is so tired that she is having trouble coping with playdates. I really don't think she could manage organised activities on the other evenings.

Apple crumble sounds great, tea. Who could possibly not like apple crumble? (send some clotted cream to go with)

Acinonyx · 09/10/2009 22:55

Dd really loves school but I've decided no afterschool classes this year - the school day is enough. She's very tired and floppy when she gets out of school but really perks up after her 'snack' which is morphing into dinner at 4 pm. I'm trying to bring bedtime forward a bit by stealth to before 8 - I'm sure she's actually tired enough to go to sleep by 7.30 I just can't seem to get her to actually give in to it.

We've only done 2 playdates - one with friends from before school and one new friend. I feel quite mentally exhausted from the whole getting involved with new parents and school and pta etc. I think I'm far more stressed and overwhemed than dd. I think I have effort-fatigue syndrome. Wine is the only immediate answer.

Apple crumble. Spotted dick? Actually pie of any kind is very English. And don't the French call the English 'roast beefs'?

newspaperdelivery · 09/10/2009 23:05

effort-fatigue syndrome. I have that. I have that so bad.

I remembered a pen at the PTA. It triggered all sorts of malady.

We have a non-uniform day next week. The pressure!

DD hasn't been invited to a party, though they came to ours. I will be grown up and not have a lip wobble

thegrammerpolicesic · 10/10/2009 11:20

Are fairy cakes a Britishy thing? Or more American?
Could be easy to do and worth a try Tea?

newspaper the whole class were invited to the party ds is going to so it's no reflection on friendships.

Ds was child of the week (or whatever it's called) this week for his class. Very proud of him. He had to go up in assembly and get a certificate on Friday. Proud mummy moment!

golgi · 10/10/2009 13:49

Well done to Grammarpolice's boy. Sorry, just couldn't type it with the spelling mistake.

My boy seemed to have another good week. Got the school photo proof back - he looks like a little angel (appearances can be deceiving). One with his brother hasn't turned up yet though. Trouble is, the cheapest option is £8.50, so if I need to buy that one as well.....

thegrammerpolicesic · 10/10/2009 17:59

That's why there's a sic golgi - did you see the thread it relates to? Was very funny.

golgi · 10/10/2009 18:50

I realise you know how to spell it really, hence the sic. No, I didn't see the thread.
Do you have a link?

thegrammerpolicesic · 11/10/2009 00:05

I don't but it was the Netmums invasion one iirc. So funny as the OP said something like "wot are you the grammer police?" when someone on here took the pi** out of her posts.

newspaperdelivery · 12/10/2009 10:03

I missed that!

Tears today. Big weekend at Christening, plus cough cough cough last night, just tired out and wanting home with mummy time I think. She did ok at the Christening, but it must be odd when there is another sun for everyone to orbit around, instead of yourself. She's still my red giant of a sun though I just need to get her to believe that.

Bless she went off with a very white little face.

Bring on the weekend!!

newspaperdelivery · 12/10/2009 10:05

Bugger it I meant to put [sic] after grammer checks....

thegrammerpolicesic · 12/10/2009 10:37

LOL newspaper. I make lots of grammertical (sic) errers (sic) myself in posts on here.

That thread was so, so funny. I will try and dig it out when I have more time.

tinkbig · 12/10/2009 18:41

hi ladies

all well this end

just have her lunch bag coming back with food everywhere inside and her drink leaking

Aranea · 12/10/2009 19:06

Well my dd1 is a funny little creature. Some of the other little girls have been crying at playtime because they have no-one to play with. I mentioned it to her and asked if she ever felt like that. She said no, and that she was the happiest bounciest one in the class. Apparently she is fine when she doesn't have anyone to play with because she can have some time with her invisible friends. Anyway, she says she will keep an eye out for anyone looking sad and see if she can cheer them up.

It's very strange. She is actually quite socially incompetent, but it doesn't seem to matter because she is so self-sufficient. I can never tell whether I need to worry about her or not!

newspaperdelivery · 12/10/2009 21:29

Verrrrry like my dd Aranea. Completely socially inept. Possible through lack of practice as she would rather be making a mental note of the way the kerbs are laid out or some such.

grammerpolice grammarpolice --gramapolice.

Tink - just reminded me dd wants packed lunch tomorrow. Darn it.

golgi · 12/10/2009 21:49

They did messages in bottles today.

Me "and what did you put in your message?"

Boy "just my name, and HELP!"
