That apostrophe is fine.
Parent's evening would suggest only one parent!

We've had a lovely weekend, am now starting to get prepared for tomorrow - iron uniform, polish shoes, pack bag......

How long until half term?

thegrammerpolicesic · 05/10/2009 12:13

Bit of a shock to the system with the rain today. We've been so lucky with dry weather ever since ds started.

Still no sign of reading books or anything beyond playing but he is having a great time.

Aranea · 05/10/2009 12:39

Urgh, isn't it horrible today? We were late for the first time this morning and arrived all wet and flustered halfway through the register.

golgi · 05/10/2009 22:36

We've got school photos tomorrow. Am sending little brother in too (he's at school nursery) to see if the professional photographer can get them to sit next to each other without fighting and both look at the camera at the same time. I know I can't.

newspaperdelivery · 06/10/2009 11:44

Hi all. Will be back soon to update and catch up. x

Aranea · 06/10/2009 20:19

dd1 had PE today. I put her bag on her peg with her coat. When I collected her this afternoon, she went to get her coat and came back brandishing the bag crying, 'Here it is! I found it!'

Apparently she had been unable to change for PE because she couldn't find the bag. She had been sent back at the time to have another look on her peg. When I asked her where it had been, she said, 'On my peg!' AARGH.

And then she asked me if I could find her socks for her as she had forgotten to put them back on after PE. So even though she hadn't actually got changed, she still managed to get it wrong getting dressed again!

AARGH again. I suppose she will get the hang of this?

golgi · 06/10/2009 20:58

Apparently last week son came out after school on Tuesday with his trouser on back-to-front. They have PE after lunch, so not sure how long he'd been backwards.

When Granny picked him up today he was ever so pleased with himself that his trousers were on frontwards - only problem was that he had his shoes on the wrong feet!

Aranea · 06/10/2009 21:18

lol golgi

teafortwo · 06/10/2009 23:51

We had our parents' meeting tonight... it was lovely... Dd's French teacher showed us her puppets, her special tin with wonderful things in and her English teacher read us an Oxford Reading Tree story. Everything was really nice until I stood up... they had given all us adults our children's little wooden chairs to sit on and my legs and bum had gone very numb!!!

I have to go and buy dd a PE kit. They have PE one day a week and from now on must come to school in trainers and sports kit on that day...

Acinonyx · 07/10/2009 10:03

Dd has PE once a week. I put her in leggings instead of tights that day. Must take ages to get them all changed and back again. All those buttons.

Some rain here too.

The friendship saga is still continuing - it's hard to keep up. First playdate tomorrow and just asked another mummy about another one Can I have another sticker?

I must say though, there is no sticker that would get me into a swimming costume at school. That definitley deserves a special commendation.

tinkbig · 07/10/2009 10:52

school is fun isnt it

dd1 has got her school shoes wet jumping in puddles twice this week!! she has wellies @ school so mentioned to teacher this morning!! otherwise @ this rate will need new school shoes

she is good @ coming out with shoes on the wrong feet 2 and covered in paint and keeps getting blue fluff all over shoe velcro must be off of carpet @ school.

roundabout1 · 07/10/2009 11:26

Hi everyone -

Aranea & Golgi - lol at the pe fiasco. My dd has pe twice a week, they only seem to get changed into their kit for one of the sessions, I think the other is before lunch, would probably miss dinner by the time they'd all got changed again!

tinkbig - we have fluff on the velcro & according to my dd lots of kids get told off for playing with the velcro straps at storytime on the mat.

Acinonyx - Defintely deserve another sticker!

Well my dd goes in happily to school now but unfortunately is having accidents most days. She wont ask for the toilet & would prefer to wet herself. I know it's a common problem but it frustrates me a bit - bad mummy I know. Dd is very tired & is behaving badly at home after school & I know it's because she's over tired. Roll on half term! Can I just announce that I'm pregnant & am bricking it as had an early miscarriage beg Sept & just dreading the same thing happening again. Seems to be taking my mind off obsessing over dd at school though!

Aranea · 07/10/2009 13:25

Oh congratulations roundabout! How far along are you? It's very hard waiting through the early weeks after a miscarriage, isn't it? One thing - I miscarried before getting pregnant with dd1, and the gp told me that although everyone says most miscarriages happen in the first 12 weeks, actually if all is well by 8 weeks you are probably ok. Apparently most of the miscarriages between 8 and 12 weeks are of pregnancies that had already gone wrong. So she very kindly organised an 8 week scan for me to check the heartbeat, which meant I was spared the additional 4 weeks' anxiety. You may already know all this, but just thought it might be helpful if not.

tinkbig · 07/10/2009 15:50

congrats roundabout

any tips for school shoes dd1 has brown clarks leather ones they keep getting wet. would black patent ones be better?

Acinonyx · 07/10/2009 17:17

Congratuations roundabout! I had a scan at 8 weeks for the same reason as Aranea - but we paid for it privately.

norfolklass · 07/10/2009 18:01

Congratulations Roundabout-will be keeping all fingers and toes crossed that everything is ok for you.

Golgi-my ds did that after pe last week and they had pe first thing in the morning so he had been walking about in them all day like that bless him! Ive noticed now that those trousers have started to rip at the seam because obviously his bottom is bigger than his front so where they have been stretched they have ripped...he has been instructed to please make sure he has them on the right way round from now on!! Shoes are always on wrong feet as well!

DS is in an awful mood this week and I could cheerfully throttle him! Think he is just tired and cranky so he is having a very early night tonight-I had a stocktake at work last night so DH did bedtime and I have a feeling it was much later than normal!

We got soaked this morning on the way to school-think we've been spoilt so far with the nice weather!

tinkbig · 07/10/2009 18:32

norfolk - have just put dd1 2 bed early 2 her behaviour is awful!!

anyone else struggling with wet school shoes?

golgi · 07/10/2009 19:10

We have a lost coat today - boy and Granny searched everywhere but no sign. Serves me right for buying a coat from ASDA that all the rest of the population seem to have too.....Granny found one in age 9-10 in the cloakroom so suspect there is a boy somewhere who has gone home wondering why his arms have got longer...

Will have to send him in emergency reserve coat tomorrow and hope the first one turns up!

moodlumthehoodlum · 07/10/2009 21:29

hi ladies

congrats roundabout - wishing you lots of luck for a smooth time & no MS.

Sorry about lost coats and back to front trousers. DS has not done either of those yet, but is in such a difficult mood when he gets back from school. The car on the way home is like a war zone. Thank god for tv, a sofa and comfort food like beans on toast - I eventually calmed him down from a dervish to a calm sleepy child. And wine for me... Tomorrow Granny will have to handle this particularly special time, as DH and I are going out - y'know, in the grown up sense? We're going to see the stand up guy Michael McIntyre, so hopefully DH will not die laughing, as sometimes I do wonder

Have good days tomorrow all.

Ixia · 07/10/2009 21:31

Congratulations Roundabout

DD is a bit fractious at bedtime. Struggling with the whole snack straight after school, or there will be meltdown, but then leaves her dinner senario.

Still LOVES school

No probs with wet shoes, they put wellies on at playtime and we walk home in wellies, but then DD is the Imelda Marcos of wellies .

Lol, at the back to front shoes. We have shoe name labels that are in the shape of a foot (Ebay), so DD knows which foot to put them on. But she banged her head on the coffee table, when she got 2 legs into one leg of her tights and fell over!

Golgi - I'm sure your coat will turn up, when the current owner realises he can't fasten it, at least it seems to be an honest mistake.

newspaperdelivery · 08/10/2009 18:28

Congratulations Roundabout Lovely news.

Still no love of school here. When asked her fav bit is coming home, but she enjoys it. She just would rather not go. Thats fair enough really isn't it? I see her point, I feel the same about work

Ouch to head banging Ixia.

AM very very pleased with the whole school dinner thing. She has eaten cheese, pizza, macoroni cheese, pie, pastry, green beans, bread, sponge....these are all things that I may as well have tried to feed the cat.

Off to read up on all your happenings....

newspaperdelivery · 08/10/2009 18:34

Sounds like lots of tired babies - not long till a glorious week off. I think we will stay in pj's till noon in pure rebellion!!

No PE yet.

Our class teacher is back from sick leave so we are all pleased.

Party was a success, I did hot drinks, salmon blinis, dips and cheesecake for parents so that was appreciated It was quite a nice social event and the kids were well catered for. They actually ate nearly everything. So that was a surprise!
Wish we could have invited more though, people keep asking how it went and I feel terrible their dc wasn't there. It wasn't personal but I don't know if they see it like that! Am hopefull though.
We might have a summer bash [any excuse] and invite the lot.

Went to PTA again, brought a pen and was on time. So I officially rock. I am making the most of this time as once back at work it will all be something I wish I could do I guess.

Tea- did you find PE kit? I need to find a navy tracksuit. No idea where.

golgi · 08/10/2009 18:56

Congratulations Roundabout!

Newspaper - sounds like a great party. In fact I am in awe of your party skills.

Coat turned up, boy had left it in lunch hall.

Two weeks and one day until half term. Not that I'm counting or anything.

newspaperdelivery · 08/10/2009 19:00

Yay coat!

I can't take the credit for party really, we had an entertainer [£70 wellspent] and my mum, dh, and another mum were 'staff' making brews and dispensing jelly

Do I get a sticker for PTA meeting?

teafortwo · 08/10/2009 19:30

Oh roundabout! Congratulations. How are you feeling? Dizzy and sick or ok so far?

Aaaaarrr... newspaper thanks for asking about the PE kit. We had such fun buying it! A big sports store has opened near us. It really is huge! The shop is separated into sections according to sports. Next to each type of sports equipment and clothes was some activity to do with the sport. A mini Tennis Court next to the tennis clothes and equipment, a computerized golf game, a climbing wall and a ballet bar wih mirrors to name some of the activities!

DD thought it was fab... and in the general clothing section there were just the right colour and price jogging bottoms, t-shirt and trainers... all in all...

GOOD GOOD!!!

newspaperdelivery - Have you looked in M&S boys section. There is a very simple looking jogging bottom, top and fleece set. It looks completely unisex to me - I have no idea why it is specifically in the boys bit. Is that the type of thing you are looking for?
