So what do you do when a 5 year old says that to you?

Options:

  1. 101 report as it's not an emergency now
  2. Discuss with school
  3. Crimestoppers report anonymously
  4. Keep your nose out of it

Background info: parents of the child are constantly stoned doleys. Likelihood of truth in this are raised a little tiny bit above zero by being full-time dopeheads yet there is no evidence whatsoever of income beyond benefits; dealers are usually stupid and spend their money in visible ways. Coke, smack etc then yes guns tend to go with the high value territory but weed and guns don't really mix in reality.

Why would anyone assume the child is lying that would be wrong but so would assuming that a parent owns a gun for underhand purposes

OP if it is niggling at you then by all means mention it to the school or to 101 (assuming you know the family details, names, address etc) because who know, it might be important. But chances are it is nothing :)

DH comes from a very very long family tradition of shooting (target, competitions, hunting) and he is passing the skill on to each of the dc in turn. Gun safety is critical to them all and they are also very proud of their heritage and ancestors. But it isn't something that is easily spoken about with anyone outside the family because some people panic at the very concept.

I do sometimes wonder what the younger ones might say to their friends though and how it is interpreted by some parents Grin
