Fully expecting my DD to come home saying "nothing" or "I can't remember", she has actually reported back on her first two days:

DAY 1
She had assembly. She had to sit crossed-legged. The bigger children clapped in time with the piano and sang a song.
She had to sit on the carpet.
She didn't get to play with the bead toy even though she wanted to, because it was tidy-up time.
She sat next to Rebecca.
They explained about a bell, but she doesn't know when it rings or why.

DAY 2
They explained again about the bell, but she still doesn't know when it rings or why.
They didn't have assembly.
She drew a picture of herself, including a nose.
They all sang "heads, shoulders, knees and toes", and then did it fast.
Rebecca cried but she didn't know why.
They had playtime for the first time and she rode around on a mini trike, which was brilliant.
No one played on the pirate ship.
She had some milk, which means she will grow up big and strong.

Anyone else had a report back?!

Yesterday:

They played a cookie matching game
ate Raisins
played on the pirate ship

Today

MrsX explained if we all talk at once she will get a headache so we need to put our hand up.
We made the golden rules - no kicking, hitting, pinching and other boring ones.
We played on the magic board, it is connected to the computer, press the button and 'hey presto' we get games to play.
There was no milk or snack.

GWenlockMaryLacey · 05/09/2012 20:38

Hmm. DD1 played with fairies and ate pizza, peas and cake Hmm

YouBrokeMySmoulder · 05/09/2012 20:38

Day 1:
There was a song about a bluebell.
She fell over at break time and a big girl put some water on it and helped her.
The teacher read a story about a very naughty rabbit that was so naughty it got turned into something else.
some of the toilets are big and some of them are small.
Her sticker fell off and it made her very sad.

fivegomadindorset · 05/09/2012 20:39

Gardening with DH and getting over excited about starting tomorrow, only had to put him back into bed once though.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 05/09/2012 20:42

He only started today!

The best bit was eating his lunch with his friends - he ate absolutely everything that I packed for him (which was quite a lot!)

The worst bit was having to have a wee before playtime.

He didn't think that he'd be able to sleep tonight because he's so excited about tomorrow - I think he fell asleep approximately 30 seconds after his head hit the pillow Grin

justanothertenminutes · 05/09/2012 20:43

Day 1:
Snack was Raisins which were yucky
Drew a picture which he forgot to bring home
Rode a bike
Saw a chair inside a box, which was apparently very funny! Confused

Day 2:
Snack was Raisins which were yucky
Drew a picture which he forgot to bring home
Rode a bike
Saw a chair inside a box, which was even funnier this time around.
Had to wear a peg on his jumper when he went outside (?)

Wigeon · 05/09/2012 20:44

These are lovely Grin! I can absolutely picture the scene in all these primary schools!

no idea.

I may never know.

Sad
beanandspud · 05/09/2012 22:46

This is the report I got (day one)...

"I met lots of new friends and I was the only one that played on the climbing frame and I had 10 sandwiches for lunch although some people had a hot meal and some had a jacket potato and we ate in the classroom and we did PE and I changed my clothes and did a handstand but the floor was really hard and I did a poo which made a big splash and we did the register this afternoon and we had to say thank you and then I played with the cogs and I got a sticker and in a DVD a man hit a lady with a saucepan."

That's it.

I have no idea what is fact or fiction.

Shodan · 05/09/2012 22:52

They played music.

He stood on a happy face and there was a sad face too. It's not clear whether he stood on that one as well.

He got a stamp on his hand for dancing well.

Houses were mentioned, but no further details.

They played outside.

He went on the computer and wonders if it will still be there when he goes back on Monday.

He drank some water.

Everything was great. He really liked it and it was great.

GreatGretzky · 05/09/2012 23:31

DD "sat on the carpet and everyone said their name. We painted. Went outside to play. Had lunch then played with clicky cubes then went outside then read a story then came home"

Not sure what the clicky cubes are but she seems to have enjoyed her first day Smile

InelegantlyWasted · 05/09/2012 23:38

So far

He has a good time, school is "quite nice" even though he has cried "nine or ten times."
He doesn't like sitting on the carpet. "It's boring."
He got on "star chart" and got a wristband for this. Apparently if you are very naughty your name goes in a puddle and you have to go in the naughty book.
He did "investigating" today. This involved looking at eggs, birds nests and water snails.
The activity on the middle table changes every day. Yesterday it was magnet stick, today it was Lego. He is very excited to find out what it will be tomorrow.
There were pears on the fruit table yesterday and carrots today. He is very disappointed by the lack of grapes.
Reading this back really puts my other thread about no-one wanting to play with him at lunchtime into perspective!

AbbyR1973 · 05/09/2012 23:41

OMG! This is brilliant. Really hoping my DS1 suddenly decides to be effusive with his descriptions of what he's done at school when he starts on Monday. At nursery when I asked him what he'd been doing that day he'd say "nothing" or "playing with cars." If it hadn't been for his keyworker the whole thing would have been a total mystery! Fingers crossed!
Glad they all sound like they are enjoying themselves :-)

MagratGarlik · 05/09/2012 23:44

DS2 started today. He is starting on half days due to previous health problems.

School is "good"
Not all the children were mean
He couldn't remember what he did
He threw up at lunchtime (see previous health problems)

MagratGarlik · 05/09/2012 23:49

On the plus side, I was so proud of ds1 who went to see his brother in the reception playground at morning break and who watched out for him at lunch Smile.

timtam23 · 06/09/2012 00:23

Day 1: "Don't know"

Day 2:
Painted a picture of "a thunderstorm" (presented it to me still dripping with wet paint)
Made an aeroplane (Tissue box with a toilet roll glued on each side)
Teacher gave everyone sweets because they were quiet for the story (!! I hope he doesn't expect this at home)
Ate lunch - "ham and ONE BURNT CHIP"
Got a sticker

darksideofthemooncup · 06/09/2012 00:33

Yesterday: She cried for TEN HOURS when I left (despite waving me off with a cheery smile)
They had raisins as a snack, and they were horrible. Some naughty boys threw raisins at her and had to sit on the naughty circle.
She played with Tobias. She is going to marry him.
Today: They had tomatoes for a snack and a boy stood on her plate and they went on the floor.
They have to put their hands up when the teacher tells them to.

darksideofthemooncup · 06/09/2012 00:35

Oh and it is boring and rubbish apparently.

nuks · 06/09/2012 09:31

these are so sweet :)

Wafflenose · 06/09/2012 10:08

These are so sweet and funny! My DD2 starts on Monday, and I suspect she'll tell me nothing...

roadkillbunny · 06/09/2012 11:14

I only know that yesterday on his first day ds had to be chased down by the head in assembly when he kept getting up to move places, he had roast for lunch and picked fruit for afters, he ate everything and he played with Y3 at lunch. I only know all this thanks to Y3 DD, all I got out of ds was he played on the slide but as he has a huge speech delay and the speech of a 2 year old that's quite alot!
I know he was very happy and looking forward to going back today so that's all that matters to me. Not long back from start of term church service, ds and all his class sat beautifully, he is having a good start, may it long continue!

annalovesmrbates · 06/09/2012 11:39

I have heard about hot lunches in great great detail. I know all about collecting a knife, fork and spoon, choosing food that goes on a tray and that the dinner lady called Jill helps with the cutting.

I think he did a puzzle and was called a superstar but that is likely to be wishful thinking. Mary cried because she missed her mummy and someone hurt his knee. He claims to have touched a real live dragon whilst sitting on the carpet - no idea what that is all bout.

sheeplikessleep · 06/09/2012 12:00

Aww, thank you for all of these posts. They are making me quite excited and less teary about DS1 starting next Monday!

DeWe · 06/09/2012 12:54

justanothertenminutes the peg is probably a way of counting how many children are outside.
What they have for ds is that activities that only have a certain number allowed on at a time, is that they have that number of hats. If there isn't a hat to wear then they can't do that activity until someone comes off. I expect the peg is the same idea.

hugandroll · 06/09/2012 13:29

Ds1 is in for his first day today. Marking my place to report back what he tells me, probably "I can't remember".
