What the fuck are Theriens?

My youngest DD (10) has taken a liking to jumping like an animal in the garden, drawing foxes, and wants me to buy her a mask and tail for her 11th birthday. She claims she's a "Therien" and feels like an animal. Apparently a few kids her age have gotten into it.

If someone actually thinks they are an animal they clearly need help especially if they are exhibiting symptoms like hallucinations and psychosis. If they are playing in some kind of bizarre adult play then please don’t encourage children online.
In the real world no one is going to take seriously or hire an animal for a job for example. I do worry for children growing up what will happen once they hit adult hood.

This has just got me thinking... if a 'therian' (in quotes because that's not a real thing) has a job, I assume they are able to suppress their leaping around urges whilst in the work environment? Funny that, isn't it...

This.

I have just had an amazing realisation. all oppressive dictators were probably cat therians. that's the only thing that explains the despotic behaviour of eg. chengiz khan, not to mention their love of shiny objects

Yeah pretty sure my cat was a despot in his previous life, one who starved to almost death in childhood, but all the neighbours rallied around to make sure he was fed just enough to get to the next neighbours house, then after 12 houses had fed him, he strolled home for supper. He rules this street and the two streets either side.

No one would want to therian? Him. Hes a fat little shit who beats up massive dogs.

I'm from a country with a great deal of poverty. funny how we never see children there who are confused about being human

sadly they are focused on surviving

there is a saying... those who don't have problems, create them

Or not having so many problems and having basic needs met in a greater proportion of society allows humans to reach a more developed stage of being, allows them to transcend and reach something greater or get more intouch with themselves, just like having more resources leads to greater technological progress.

I don't disagree that it's nonsense at all, but I think this argument is a bit short sighted. I'm playing devils advocate to a degree.

DysonSphere · 26/07/2024 15:02

And on that note, I find it interesting, that the animals one chooses to identify with are those already known to the person/seen in videos/zoos/the local environment. Nothing very obscure.

It's not some yet undiscovered species of rodent or some very obscure subspecies of goat.

Well, I imagine if they take their whole selves to work, they will be going round on all fours and growling, or whatever.

Imagine going to a restaurant and your waitress suddenly hits the deck and crawls under the table because she's been seized by her inner Basil Brush.

Not much evidence of this transcendence or more evolved thinking, sadly. Internet contagion seems a big factor

I know what you mean but I agree with it too.
Im guessing people being bombed in various countries aren’t going round on all 4s pretending to be a fox.

Hi! Friendly therian talking here! Exclusing this to some people known as fake therians (you can guess from the name) fake being a therian, therianthropy is not a phase and can not be 'grown out of'. We don't choose it and we can't get rid of it, even if you wanted to. Being a therian isn't about acting like an animal as play, though most do quadrobics as a fun activity that makes them feel more animal-like.Therianthropy is when you identify as one, as many therians experience memories from their past lives as animals. On every level except physical, therians identify as their thereotypes and can relate to the animalistic behaviour of them. We do quadrobics on all fours to feel morre connected to our thereotypes, with mine being Northern Rocky Mountain Wolf, Scottish Fold, Cross Fox and Dragon. (Yes, you can have multiple thereotypes.) Being a therian isn't created by the internet, you are born with therianthropy, but seeing videos on platforms such as YouTube and TikTok might encourage you you're not alone in how you're feeling, that there are others just like you, and you don't feel so scared anymore. Therianthropy is also NOT from any TV shows, it is REAL LIFE, not just some thing we made up. It is us. We are it. Just like you could be autistic (which I am) or dyslexic, you are born with it and it's not inspired by anything other than our inner souls. But one thing I ask you, if your child comes out to you saying they're a therian or anything that is considered 'weird' by some of the community-whether they're a furry or quadrobist or in the LGBTQ+ community (which I myself am), please, please, please support them. It means so much to them if you support them, that they don't have to hide anything from you, that they feel safe, that they can be themselves and be free around you instead of trapped by those unspoken rules that make up 'the norm', and even if you try to beat it out of them, it's not going to work. Thanks for reading, and please no hate! 😺

I have a PhD in Biochemistry and I can't believe I've just read about supposedly homo sapiens being part dragon. I think I've lost my hope for evolution and human intelligence. Stop the Earth: I'm leaving for Pluto.

SpanielintheWorks · 26/07/2024 15:49

'Quadrobics' would be crawling, I guess? Unlike aerobics, which would be, umm, flying?

Or is it normal aerobics but done in a quad? Or on a quad bike?

Oh boy.

I think it's where on 'all fours' you use your quads to propel you into the air, with your 'paws' aka hands front facing as a dog or fox does.

grow up

In a nutshell, yes

Wysteria123 · 26/07/2024 20:59

I just went for a bit to take a break since people were being a bit overwhelming (no offense to anyone) and making me reply rudely and childishly. I understand your points of view now, even if I don't fully agree with them, and I can see why you'd be worried. I myself was put in this position once, before I awakened as a therian and I saw a therian's video on YouTube, I was concerned at first.@Bodeganights To answer your questions, You can be any amount of animals, but I'm pretty sure over about thirty would be a very very old thereotype. Yes, you can still be a wolf even if the species has died out, as it was in a past life. Bird therians will probably remember flying, but won't be able to as they're humans now. A therian can be any animal, for example I know someone whose thereotype is a fly whereas some of mine are Snow Leopard, Northern Rocky Mountain Wolf, Dragon (yes I know it's a mythical being), and Red Fox (recently discovered to be one of my thereotypes when I shifted into it.)

PhantomSmoke · 26/07/2024 21:11

Well it would appear that the Scottish Fold has evolved into a Snow Leopard, and the fox has had a shift of its own.

I have even warned the streets to not feed him, he will take over the world. They just laugh and eye roll at me. Hes the perfect age to be sorting out coups and shit.

But can't you see how bonkers this is?? You were not a dragon in a past life ffs! Sorry to be rude but honestly this shit being peddled out to kids is damaging. You can pretend to be whatever you want to be but people making videos on social media convincing children that they are actually a mythical creature is fucking ridiculous. Where does this absolute lunacy end?

AppleKatie · 26/07/2024 21:38

You can’t accept on the one hand that dragons are mythical and then on the other hand think you were one in a past life.

nonsensical.

You are either in need of help or on the wind up and frankly I suspect the latter.
