Sorry I couldn't find a new thread. If there is one already, I'll have this deleted.

Will get links etc brought over from last thread too.

What are your thoughts on this situation?
School (inspector, not school itself) has banned any school trips involving public transport.
DS (with SN) has speech therapy through the school.
It counts as an academic lesson and is compulsory.
It is in the neighbouring town.
To get there, we need to take the bus.

Currently sat waiting for him and wondering if I should ask teacher to cancel it for the near future... it's tedious

Sprayitall · 12/03/2020 15:15

@michaelbaubles anyone could easily say everyone has some or the other “underlying conditions” that can be blown up out of proportion to cover up their ar** if something unexpected happens.

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 12/03/2020 15:18

Have just seen the Guardian report that scientists have found most cases of CV are passed on before symptoms show.

NatoPMT · 12/03/2020 15:23

They are eligible for testing due to contact with a known case so expecting advice within 24 hours

We share a hall, front floor plus light switches

I have not touched them for a week or 2 without either cleaning them or cleaning my hands but my husband has

They aren’t yet confirmed and we don’t have symptoms but requested their team talk to us

Waiting outside school for a teacher to bring child out

I didn’t think Id fall this quickly. Despite not yet falling...

YoursTunbridgeWells · 12/03/2020 15:29

@Sprayitall I was referring to Mark Jit at 14:37. Have I misunderstood, so tired that’s likely. Their headline with prof Ashton deffo criticises the government.

Posharmchairs · 12/03/2020 15:31

I’m guessing closures and some kind of lock down next week.

I hope from what we can see in Europe that it needs to be an all or nothing approach.

A friend in Madrid is to work from home, yet all closures have done is allow people to congregate around bars and public areas more frequently.

Purchased some ready meals and snacks today for the small.

Coop, super drug and boots all low on paracetamol, soap and baby wipes.

Sprayitall · 12/03/2020 15:34

@YoursTunbridgeWells Yes I was referring the same but the heading is misleading

@NatoPMT oh shucks.. lots of hugs xx hope you don’t need to self isolate yet

Readyme · 12/03/2020 15:36

@NatoPMT I'm sorry you are having to deal with this it must be unnerving. Is DC being allowed to stay home until results are confirmed?

MakeLemonade · 12/03/2020 15:37

Sturgeon announcing business as usual, no closures.

Justmum89 · 12/03/2020 15:37

Sturgeon on BBC not closing schools

Readyme · 12/03/2020 15:41

@preponderings I would argue the case of it being a school trip, if HT insists then I would speak to the inspector or his office for clarification and refuse to send him until you had an answer.
If it's insisted upon D'S attending I would further insist that funding for a taxi be found because your family policy states no public transport during a pandemic.

Sprayitall · 12/03/2020 15:43

They close or not I am not going to risk sending mine.

HasaDigaEebowai · 12/03/2020 15:46

Scotland press conference:
if you have fever or cough you must self isolate
no overseas school trips can go ahead
no general school closures but keeping it under review
ban on mass gatherings of over 500 people

WwwashYourHands · 12/03/2020 15:47

Sturgeon says no gatherings over 500 ppl.

Please God make it happen in England too.

MoreCoffeeNeeded · 12/03/2020 15:47

Is sturgeon talking about scotlands schools or all of UK?

MakeLemonade · 12/03/2020 15:48

Where is Boris Johnson? How embarrassing for someone else to deliver the non news from the COBRA meeting.

MoreCoffeeNeeded · 12/03/2020 15:49

Also, Sturgeon always seems to pip bojo at the post and get to the media first.

Sprayitall · 12/03/2020 15:50

@WwwashYourHands does that mean other schools will work? The primary school dd goes have less than 200 pupil + staff - even if you show parents gathering for school runs it won’t cross 400 will it

MrsWhites · 12/03/2020 15:50

Our school have contacted parents today with children with underlying health conditions today to establish whether they should still be in school apparently.

Another school nearby have also sent the children home today with learning packs as they are expecting a closure imminently.

pemberlyshades · 12/03/2020 15:50

She was just talking about Scotland surely?

MakeLemonade · 12/03/2020 15:50

Guess it’s not likely Boris will announce better/stricter measures?

MakeLemonade · 12/03/2020 15:52

She was in the UK COBRA meeting but has now said just Scottish government decision.

WwwashYourHands · 12/03/2020 15:52

Yes just Scotland

colouringinpro · 12/03/2020 15:53

my kids go to secondary school on the underground. I am becoming increasingly less happy. chances of them picking it up en route or in school I think are significant.

Sprayitall · 12/03/2020 15:55

I’m losing hope but on one side I feel I can’t stand the stupidity that’s around - this it’s just a flu brigade is getting everywhere and I am sure these bitches won’t be around when we cough our lungs out.
