Sorry I couldn't find a new thread. If there is one already, I'll have this deleted.

Will get links etc brought over from last thread too.

Thanks Hasa not sure if I'd want to reuse one for a month?

What do other people think?

Sorry Redlentilyellowlentil I was responding to something you had written about the timeliness of testing numbers, but I am fighting to keep up with the thread and was probably replying far too late.

Also failing to keep up tonight, this all moving so fast !!

Sprayitall · 11/03/2020 22:15

@NatoPMT no alcohol and still my immunity is low down the drains lol so if it helps I would suggest to go ahead in moderation

Readyme · 11/03/2020 22:15

@colouringinpro reversible masks are designed to be in constant use. If it was a choice between 5 masks or one respirator mask that lasts a month I know what I would choose. of course you need to be careful when dealing but the same goes with single use masks too.

Thank you @Readyme and @itsnotjustflu I’ll have a look. I’m lucky that she’s only just turned five but want to keep up with teaching phonics, reading etc. I also started making a list of all the countries who have closed their school earlier, maybe we can share info going to use it to plead with school to give us some grace! Likewise it feels like it’s all getting a bit too real and she’s in a big school too.

Snugglepumpkin · 11/03/2020 22:17

@Sprayitall
Sorry, that massive post was meant for you.

@Readyme.
Don't forget blueberries hate lime so they need ericaceous soil (or compost) & plant food.
I grow mine in large pots because my garden soil is not suitable.

Esca · 11/03/2020 22:18

@WhereDoWeGo My setting is asking all students (or parents) to complete a questionnaire to ascertain which students will need additional resources. I imagine that if an internet connection is an issue, printed resources will be sent out.

Sprayitall · 11/03/2020 22:19

@16943389ao that’s a good idea.

Ok y’all so what’s the last suggestion - should I send dd to school or not tomorrow - it’s very frustrating - help me to decide!

WrapTrap · 11/03/2020 22:20

Found four ffp3 masks in garage. Do they go 'off'? I had them for about two years.

Destinysdaughter · 11/03/2020 22:20

Anyone else glad that the WHO has finally declared this a pandemic? Was also amazed seeing the new chancellor saying that the NHS will get whatever it needs to.fight this. I'm starting to feel a bit hopeful after a day of feeling very anxious and hopeless.

Snugglepumpkin · 11/03/2020 22:24

@16943389ao

For primary level might be worth having a look at doing the free trial for Reading Eggs (Mathseeds for maths, part of same company)
Unless they have changed it, the trial is a free month.

It starts at preschool level & the little lessons are very engaging plus you get access to a massive library of ebooks for every level & when you earn eggs or seeds (by doing lessons) you can spend them on playing in built educational games as a reward.
I used it as part of our EHE curriculum because my son thought it was a game not learning so he did extra lessons unknowingly.
There are also printout worksheets to go with each online lesson if you have a printer.

Sprayitall · 11/03/2020 22:27

@Snugglepumpkin aww thanks .. apologies I just kept posting without scrolling much. Thank you so much for taking your time to educate me on this. I am all very new to gardening here in the U.K. and somehow many of the things seem very different to what I am used to. I have saved your reply so I can refer it anytime I want to and will start ordering things slowly. The thing is I have to be careful with finances also now and I don’t have much to spare. Balancing is the key (I know I will lose it if I see some lovely things you sent me- too tempting) Thank you once again so much for your thoughts on this

Readyme · 11/03/2020 22:28

@Sprayitall do you have cases local to you? If no I would let her finish out the week. If yes I would keep her at home.

@Snugglepumpkin thank you so helpful to have someone much more experienced. It's our first year with such a big garden, I've a fair amount of gardening in the last but now we are trying to produce as much as we possibly can off the land.
For Heritage seeds do you have any reccomendations? I've used Real seeds in the last but don't know if any other UK companies?

MoonlightMistletoe · 11/03/2020 22:29

I have two of my children non stop coughing tonight 7 + 1yo. Not sure wether to keep my 7yo home tomorrow or not, she was also telling me her legs were aching while we was walking home. Just went to get the thermometer from my bathroom cabinet and it's not there so can't even check temps :(

misscockerspaniel · 11/03/2020 22:31

VenetoResident You mention that post offices are staying open. Is your post still being delivered and are you still receiving online orders eg Amazon?

Breaking news on LBC - apparently it looks like BoJo is about to close the schools. Just a headline right now.

BlackeyedSusan · 11/03/2020 22:34

@WhereDoWeGo how old is he?

RhubarbTea · 11/03/2020 22:37

Yep just saw on Sky news alerts. Boris is 'expected to declare' tomorrow that we are moving to next phase and school closures etc may happen.

Sixp · 11/03/2020 22:37

Where can we watch the 10:40 statement from BoJo?

MotherOfDragonite · 11/03/2020 22:38

@itsnotjustflu I am just the same -- am basically fully prepped, but keep finding more things I need to buy. I think it's a way of trying to feel there's something I have control over.

Like... surely I need something so I can sprout seeds? Right???! (I am seriously tempted. I have visions of lovely salads).

BlackeyedSusan · 11/03/2020 22:39

May happen? May?

GinAndTonicNeeded · 11/03/2020 22:39

Please forgive me fellow preppers...I always have what I call a buffer in place, and with encouragement from you I have meal planned, slowly built up extra stocks of everything over the weeks. I have a go bag. I have entertainment sorted. I'm planting seeds...

I have just twitched and panic bought a load of crisps, chocolate and goodiesGrin

I beg forgiveness for bringing the good name of preppers down... Now where to stash it so the kids and DH don't scoff the lot! The bath panel is removable and if I double bag it...

doneaflit · 11/03/2020 22:42

@sprayitall I don't think close contact, although was 2 days. I'm not sure how much close contact, if any. I feel ok and have no symptoms and it's now 5 days since last contact.

There's a chance I have it, for sure. And my kids and husband. We're all isolating together. I'm sort of resigned to it after months of worrying about it, but I'd like to stagger illness with my DH so there's someone to look after the kids at all times. That's where our efforts are going now.
