New thread - happy Monday!

Just incase you are wondering this is a thread for premmie mums who feel like they have missed out on the NCT classes experience and would like to chat.

I have missed out twice as has had two premies!
One of which seems to be wide awake at 4am - I have just fallen over a toy trying to get to her and am now cuddling her praying she'll drop off fast!
How's everyone?

Oh no, Fraggle! That's awful poor little mite. They tried to do a lumbar puncture on Halo but I refused. Cling on to the good news for all it's worth. Have you any of his home comforts with you? Praying he's home soon for you Flowers

FraggleRock77 · 30/03/2014 17:52

Thanks MMama. I really thought DS was doing so well. 5 months home and only a small sniffle to his name. I hate these places. As much as i hated NICU at times, being on a Paeds wards is ten X's worse. Low staff ratio and not really suitable for babies. My DH is a medics though so at least we have the insider edge x

MultipleMama · 30/03/2014 18:30

Tell me about it. When we took Halo to A&E for his breathing it was 5 hours until we were finally offered a bed. He was checked once an hour, just checked and walked out, no "hi", no asking how he was or we were. It's awful, you want reassurance, you want to know that they putting his interests first and it's stressful and frustrating when you have to ask them what's going on. The staff themselves are lovely but here, you gotta ask if you want something or want something explained.

What set me off was being around all those machines again, even though Halo is home on machines, the noise and the atmosphere is awful. I truely hope he has a quick recovery xx

Valdeeves · 30/03/2014 19:08

Fraggle how's he doing?
Happy Mothering Sunday to all of you xxxxxxx

Dad just text me. He's crying watching Surprise, Surprise. Apparently something to do with pop n grow?? I have no idea.

Any of you ladies know what he's blubbering about?

Bankholidaybaby · 30/03/2014 20:57

Hello! I didn't realise you'd started a couple of new threads since the first one - I tend to check 'I'm On' and don't often look at the Prem topic - I thought it was odd you'd all just stopped! Will this one be permanent now until it gets to 1000 messages? My 33 weeker is now 31 weeks actual, so he's coming up to being out as long as he was in. He seems to be doing well, developmentally delayed but only by the expected 7ish weeks. He's started complaining a lot at dinner time and I don't think we've quite cracked the evening routine yet - he's often asleep from a nap when he's meant to be having his meal, so I have some tweaking to do.

MultipleMama · 30/03/2014 23:03

Bankholidaybaby - I thought the same. Was by luck and boredom I found it on the prem section. I think this will be the final one 'til wr reach 1000 :)

It's lovely to know he's doing well :) xx

Valdeeves · 30/03/2014 23:39

My little one started off at 33 weeks too - she seems to be doing well but there are a couple of things I'm worried about.
Had a lovely wkend with old Uni friends and their kids. We watched Frozen - can't believe it's taken me so long to see it - very entertaining! My DS was bored the minute "love" was mentioned though so he played with cars while by DS swayed in front of the TV in that side to side pootle that only little ones do. Hope you are all ok - Fraggle? Little one ok?

DD I mean!

MultipleMama · 31/03/2014 14:18

I loved Frozen probably more than the kids! I would like it have both sisters find love. Not just the one, felt it was one-sided. I often find DH and K singing "Let it go" most nights during bath time!

How's your LO today, Fraggle? Halo is one miserable teething baby.

FraggleRock77 · 31/03/2014 21:45

Hopefully he's turned that magical corner. He's really been through it. Still spiking temps but a little better today. Thank you for asking MM/Val xxx

Valdeeves · 31/03/2014 22:21

Glad to hear it. My DD ate some chalk today, despite my best efforts to retrieve it she puked blue vomit into a piece of kitchen roll. Not the highlight of the day!
Kids played in the garden again - slightly worried about DD - cough, running nose, not convinced she's hearing we'll - docs this week.

MultipleMama · 31/03/2014 22:46

Glad to hear it Fraggle, praying his temp stays down and that he's home soon!

Val - I remember that once only K ate a playdoh at a friends house as she wasn't watching him properly. He was violently sick for hours. Now, I make my own harmless playdough :)

MultipleMama · 31/03/2014 22:49

Val, I hope your LO is okay and if there is anything wrong that they can treat her but hoping it's nothing xx

Bankholidaybaby · 01/04/2014 10:38

Hello, I hope Fraggle and Val that your babies are feeling better. Mine had to go to the GP yesterday with diarrhoea Hmm it's probably a virus (I have a nasty cold) but they want a poo sample just in case.

Valdeeves · 01/04/2014 18:48

Had to take the day off as DD had a high temp, she slept for three hours. Just realised today that she is nearly 20 months and has two words - apart from mama, dada and attempt at DS name.

OP posts:
Valdeeves · 01/04/2014 18:48

Bankholiday - good luck collecting that sample!

OP posts:
Bankholidaybaby · 01/04/2014 22:25

I got one, but by the time I got it to the surgery, they'd had their poo, wee and blood collection and so I have had to take a fresh container and will try again tomorrow.

I got a bit bothered by the GP asking (in an appointment about my son's poo and snot) about his speech. He was washing his hands before examining my baby and asked me if he was sitting yet (yes, but he topples if he reaches for anything) and what noises am I 'getting from him'. I asked what he meant and he clarified 'babbling like mama and dada'. My son doesn't babble much, but when he does, it's mainly bird-like chirrups, squeals, shrieks and lots and lots of raspberry blowing. He doesn't do ba, ma, da, goo etc. and I wasn't worried before as he's only 31 actual and 24 corrected but now I'm wondering when babies usually start making lip and tongue sounds like d and b and why my GP was asking? Gah! I'm normally quite laid back about his development as I figure he's on a slightly different track being a preemie, but when a doctor makes a comment like that I start panicking!

MultipleMama · 01/04/2014 23:58

I would just bring them a dirty nappy and say "here, you collect it" Grin I wouldn't worry too much about his speech.

I got "told off" by the GP once because he asked if the boys were saying mummy, daddy, mama, dada. I said he says mama but not dada, they asked why I said 'cause they call him Vava (nn for Vater) and he tried to accuse me of delaying his development by not teaching his d & b. Never listened when I explained.

I'm sure if you were concerned you would have brought up the topic at a GP appt already. You know your child's individual development - they see your child on odd occassion xx

How's your LOs Fraggle & Val?

Halo has 2 teeth pushing through no wonder he's a miserable cranky baby!

MultipleMama · 03/04/2014 12:07

Halo's vibrating pad and mawok hammock (going to try this instead of the cosleeper and attach it above the side of bed). His turtle arrived so when DH gets home we are going to move the room around. Finally managed to get him sucking on the razzberry teethet to help his teeth cut through.

And Artie can now sit up on her own for quite awhile so got her an activity table (well we stupidly sold the twins' one so had to get a new one).

Hope your LOs are doing okay, Fraggle & Val xx

FraggleRock77 · 05/04/2014 09:26

At last! We are being discharged tomorrow. What a wk. I hope everyone is well, i haven't has time to read all the posts? Thank you for all the kind thoughts xx

MultipleMama · 05/04/2014 10:38

That's brilliant news! Xxxx

MultipleMama · 05/04/2014 17:09

K sleep for 2 hours straight last night! It's a miracle!! :)

MultipleMama · 05/04/2014 17:10

I meant Halo**

Valdeeves · 06/04/2014 20:34

Great news Fraggle!
Mama - did Halo like the turtle?

DD's still poorly but two trips to the doctor and we finally got antibiotics for a sinus infection. Pretty tired.
Visiting friends in the city at the moment, can't move as we've eaten so much food!
