New thread - happy Monday!

Just incase you are wondering this is a thread for premmie mums who feel like they have missed out on the NCT classes experience and would like to chat.

I have missed out twice as has had two premies!
One of which seems to be wide awake at 4am - I have just fallen over a toy trying to get to her and am now cuddling her praying she'll drop off fast!
How's everyone?

Fraggle - right now, I'd probably focus on just introducing foods as babies are very curious beings. If he's still bottle and/or breast fed then he's still getting what he needs and this stage food is a "toy". We started with finger foods and brightly coloured foods all with different textures that the twins could just mash and pick up with their hands and more often than not they put their hands into their mouth. We also gave them frozen pureed fruit or breast milk into lollies - they loved these. I wouldn't worry too much right now, the twins didn't have anything solid until they were around 11mos and they were really fussy eaters. We gave them spoons when we started but they just used them to bash the food, we just supervised and them at it until we finished ours. You're doing great :)

Home at last! Decided to walk instead of taking public transport. I arrived with 4 sleeping kids, 1 cranky toddler and a 5 year old who told the receptionist that she should her manners Blush.

Appt ended early as Halo was impossible to settle, he just would not calm down, he literally cried himself to sleep. Nothing I did helped, he managed a 20 minute feed but that's it. He's still asleep against my chest, I don't want to take him out of the wrap for fear of waking him as he's such a light sleeper.

All the DC are worn out from the all round 2 hour trip and are all cuddled in a blanket while K reads out loud to them :)

I managed 3 hours sleep. DH ended up walking Halo around the garden. I think he's teething...

How is everyone today? :) x

Yep I second everything Mama said about weaning - I found my youngest wouldn't even receive a spoon for weeks then suddenly she was away and enjoying her food.
Mama that sound pretty tiring - has Halo gone down tonight?
My day was a ok - swimming lessons are lovely - it's great to watch my DS splash about and my DD goes in the crèche for half an hour as she always tries to walk into the water!
We had a quick go in the park and played at a friends house (not so good DS very grumpy, wouldn't play nicely - she has the will of an ox) then I let them crash in the car and we went to pick up Ballet shoes (for me.)
When I got home a friend had left me a bucket of frogspawn for the kids. We found them a roomier tub and watched them wriggle about.
Now the kids are bathed and in bed, I need to sort out my work clothes and cook dinner - possible having some wine at the same time!
How's your days? Xxxxx

Livenlet - do you get those taps sorted? We were in rented for a long time - I feel your pain xxxx

Thank you ladies.

Mama I was resting for two weeks but the levels of fluid seem to be good and there are no signs of infection (after the AB), so I am back to "normal" but doing everything much slower. I decided use my annual leave now and I will go to 4 days a week and I will work one or two days from home. That should also make a difference.

Vald seems like you had a really busy day. Hope everything went well

Fraggle we started weaning DS when he was 6 months old. We went down the puré way and it took us a couple of weeks before having a meal just on on solids. I would usually give him a couple of spoons and then breastfeed. But suddenly there was a point when he just showed a lot of interest and he became a great eater.

This was my first full day at work after two weeks and I am really really tired!

MultipleMama · 24/03/2014 20:37

Halo is currently passed out on my chest in his swaddle blanket. He managed to sleep an hour straight this afternoon in the carrier, but he's been fussy ever since, DH took him round the garden which settled him, and now he's all cried out. I cannot wait for these products to arrive to see if it helps. I'm so blessed that Artie is such an easy baby but I do miss out on playing with her because either Halo is either strapped to my chest or demanding attention.

K has the Twilight Turtle in his room (he loves the stars and helps him sleep so much. I'm think of investing in the Tranquil Turtle too (for Halo) not sure if it's worth it...

Frogspawn? K would love those! But the boys would try and pick them up!

MultipleMama · 24/03/2014 20:50

Liquidambar - Drink lots of fluids. I was constantly on bed rest and hydration routines (I had oligohydramnios from 9w ges). I was in and out of hospital. Glad that your back to normal :)

Valdeeves · 25/03/2014 00:31

Liquidambar try not to worry, rest as much ad you can and try and keep your fluid levels up.
I'm worried next doors cat will get at the frogspawn!!
Mama I love the Twilight Turtle - have they given you advice on what will settle him if he does have SPD?

FraggleRock77 · 25/03/2014 02:50

Thank you everyone for the reassurance. Going to stick at it.
Liv, we are in rental for a year, so annoying when something goes wrong. Liquid, you must just rest, rest, rest. I wish I'd stopped in bed now and not moved an inch. MMama, i love the Turtle too. I think i love it more than DS! Xx

FraggleRock77 · 25/03/2014 02:52

Your day sounded busy Val. Tired just reading about it xxx

MultipleMama · 25/03/2014 10:31

Val - They have given advice but because of his age most things won't work until he's older. At the minute she's trying to find ways to soothe him as that's when he's most stressed and thinks it's spilling into his nights (i.e too aware and hyped) making him harder to settle.

This morning we ventured to the park and Artie loved the baby swing. Her laugh is so infectious!

we have car fixed so now I can drop the DC of at their Grandparents and the A-team and I can have a calmer environment to sleep and read Grin

Think I'll invest in the tranquil turtle then.

Any plans, ladies? X

FraggleRock77 · 25/03/2014 11:22

Jealous you have been out for a walk. It's pouring with rain over here. Work men have landed and left already this morning. We have new wardrobes at long last. Although we are moving again in 9 months, i feel like i can't be bothered to unpack! Xx

MultipleMama · 25/03/2014 11:39

Right now it's cloudy but it's supposed to rain later. We go out even if it's raining because keeping them indoors a day is a disaster! Haha.

I wouldn't bother unpacking either haha! :)

Valdeeves · 25/03/2014 19:45

Tiring day for me at work - pretty tired - just got little ones to bed. Going to make myself a wrap and eat in front of the TV then go to bed.
Fraggle did you say you are moving again? We moved twice in the last two years - it was hard going!

Valdeeves · 25/03/2014 19:46

Mama hope Halo settles tonight, I'd be really interested to see what the OT recommends.

OP posts:
FraggleRock77 · 25/03/2014 20:13

Yep, moving in Jan when my DH finally gets his end job! It is exhausting. I'm planning on TTC in Aug too! I hope you get some sleep Val xxx

MultipleMama · 25/03/2014 21:58

Fraggle - Good luck on TTC! I hope we can compare notes! I'm actually pretty nervous about getting PG again, which I've never been before. I don't envy you moving!

Val - If you like, I could PM you the recommendations, the OT has given us for his current age - I'm sure we'll get more effective ways when his referral comes through.

Halo finally went down at 10pm after countless rocking and singing by DH. I think he's teething, I noticed his gums looks a little red and swollen when latching. Wonderful...

livenlet · 25/03/2014 22:08

Hi, ive had a lovely day with the lo today it makes all the hard work worth it i have had to put my chairs on the dining room table though to stop her climbing up it she thinks its cleaver to dance on it
Val thanks i now have hot and cold running water.

Valdeeves · 25/03/2014 23:53

Please Mama - I'm really interested.
Going to be late - am writing a fantasy/horror novel at the mo (it's terrible but it's entertaining me) - got into it and now I'm going to knackered tomorrow. Never mind.

MultipleMama · 27/03/2014 06:25

Being up two hours qualifies for a nap, right? Thought so. Somehow my kids never got that memo...

Taking them out this morning to loads of places. I have ulterior motives. I know when they're overexcited they fall asleep quicker. So, soft play, swimming, food and walk the dog and then hopefully sleep

Liquidambar · 28/03/2014 20:48

Multiple how do you manage so many activities?

Vald Shock for writing a novel. Well done!

Had a bit of a rubbish day. Had to go to the breast clinic as I found a lump a couple of weeks ago. They did not seem very worried but now I have to wait nearly two weeks for the biopsy's results. Not what I needed when I am 28 weeks pregnant! Anyway, I am trying to be positive and thinking about what I will do during the weekend.

I hope everyone will have a good weekend

MultipleMama · 28/03/2014 22:35

I manage on granola bars and decaff coffee! It's either force myself to go out or have 4 hyper cooped up children! Honestly, it could be raining and they'd be perfectly happy to play outdoors for hours.

Liquid - I hope it turns out to be just a simple cyst or just a plain fatty lump. You need less stress not more!

Halo is 100% teething. His temp is up, he's crankier than ever and has decided to go on a nursing strike having to us the syringe to feed him and refuses to put a teether anywhere near his mouth. Nightmare.

MultipleMama · 30/03/2014 12:59

Happy Mother's day, ladies. I miss my mum like crazy, today. She would have been 44 this year. There's been so many times I've needed her hugs and advice :(

The DC are making today bearable, as always. DH helped them make a bouquet of Flowers (using arts and crafts) and then surprised me with my favourite homemade triple hot fudge cake. I have only just got out of bed! - Even Halo isn't as fussy Hmm

FraggleRock77 · 30/03/2014 16:50

Happy Mothering Sunday. Not so happy for our DS. We were admitted to hospital last night. He has a nasty UTi and having completed a lumbar puncture today he's clear of meningitis (touch wood) . He's so fed up and clearly nervous of any touch, not knowing if they are going to jab him again. I've really struggled with it all. It's brought back so many bad memories which i thought i had dealt with on leaving NICU x
