Medical abortion- waiting for appointment

Hi

Just after moral support from anyone maybe going through the same. Just discovered I am pregnant, I have 2 children and we are just not in that place any more to be having any more babies. I am
absolutely gobsmacked that I am pregnant. Decided to have a medical abortion and just want it done asap. Soonest appointment from BPAS I could get is Friday. It seems like forever away and I am in complete limbo. I can’t think of anything else. I’m so upset that I have to do this!!!! Is anyone else in that waiting phase? I just want it to be over with!

This is positive, I’m so glad you found the call ok and that the ball is rolling for you now. The wait in between was the hardest.

had a fair bit of cramping yesterday and bleeding has been heavier again. But all in all not too bad. I can’t believe this time last week I was only just finding out I was pregnant. A lot can happen in a week!!!

Its crazy isn't it how your world can be flipped so quickly. But what a great service BPAS are, so grateful we have them.

Chunk9 · 15/01/2024 11:55

Aren’t they just. I could shout from the rooftops. You find yourself in a horrible situation, assume it’s all going to be horrendous. But in reality it was fine. It’s an incredible service, as you say we are just so lucky.

Hi guys, how is everyone?
I haven't been on my phone much as it makes my nausea worse.
Very straightforward phone appointment this morning and picked pills up an hour later, have taken the first one and just lying in bed now. Don't feel any different at the moment.

Chunk9 · 16/01/2024 16:03

Hey, I don’t think you really get any side effects from the first one. But keep taking it easy. Are you feeling ok emotionally?

its been 5 days since I started the tablets, im bleeding much much less now, bloating has gone down and im feeling much more like myself!

@Namechangedecisions hope it all goes well, glad you got sorted so fast.
My pills were posted and bloody Royal Mail have sent them to the wrong house, no idea where, thankfully we have a village facebook page and I've tracked them down, the person there is dropping them off later, could have cried thinking they'd gone, just want to put all this behind me.

Namechangedecisions · 16/01/2024 16:35

@mindworkingovertime omg what a nightmare! So glad you were able to track them down!

@Chunk9 sounds like youre starting to feel in control of your body again, great to hear.
I've been quite washed out and nauseated today, think it's the pregnancy hormones. Just been in bed listening to radio 4. Emotionally feel totally fine, my DP got a bit upset before I took it, just because of feeling guilty at us being irresponsible (which we were) and he's more worried about complications than I am! But definitely feels like the right decision.

Chunk9 · 16/01/2024 16:38

Oh no!!!!! I bet you were beside yourself, what an absolute nightmare!!!! Really glad you’ve tracked them down. Not an additional stress you needed. Nearly there now. Here if you need anything x

Yeah my husband found it difficult to watch me go through the physical side, it affects them too emotionally in various ways, it’s not nice on anyone. Sounds really supportive though and exactly what you need. Keep talking and be kind to yourselves, you’ve come to this decision together, and it isn’t the end of the world, you’ve simply took control of the situation xx

How are your husbands now @Chunk9 @Namechangedecisions ?
I feel guilty too, despite knowing it's definitely for the best.

mindworkingovertime · 16/01/2024 20:10

How are you doing @Anon13571 ?

Chunk9 · 16/01/2024 20:28

Husband is ok now things have calmed down, now I’m through the other side and he can see I’m ok, he’s ok. It was when I was upset and stressed that he was worried. He felt guilt that I had to go through that and he couldn’t do anything. But he’s been a huge support. X

@mindworkingovertime it's hard not to feel even a bit guilty, the idea of it isn't exactly pleasant, but unless you have strong beliefs its no harm done and like @Chunk9 said, it's taking control of the situation. My DP is still a bit worried - yesterday

My nausea really ramped up yesterday evening and overnight, I think a reaction to the first tablet and maybe a bit of nerves about what's in store today with the second lot. Sort of the opposite of what I'd hoped for, which was instant relief from nausea! Will be starting in the next hour or so.

@Chunk9 did you use a hot water bottle? My DP tried to get one but they didn't have any in the local shops.

Chunk9 · 17/01/2024 09:30

Hey, I used a microwave wheat bag, they have them on Amazon if that helps? It was really soothing.

mindworkingovertime · 17/01/2024 09:50

Hoping it's all ok @Namechangedecisions
I'm looking forward to no nausea and no more sore boobs, they ache so much Sad

Namechangedecisions · 17/01/2024 10:26

@mindworkingovertime agree, it makes you feel like your body has been hijacked doesn't it.
Inserted 4 tablets 45 mins ago and just lying on my bed, mild cramps have started. Dont think I'm bleeding but a bit anxious to stand up - don't know why I'm so squeamish about it as periods don't bother me at all!

Namechangedecisions · 17/01/2024 12:27

Its been 3 hours since I inserted the tablets and I've only had very light bleeding when wiping and a tiny bit on pad. Starting to get paranoid it isn't going to work. @Chunk9 how many hours did it take to kick off for you?

Chunk9 · 17/01/2024 12:57

It took almost 4 hours to kick off. Then I had the final 2 and things really got going then. Try and completely relax. It will happen. Just trust the process. Some people can take longer. Try not to panic and don’t google!!!!

OP posts:
mindworkingovertime · 17/01/2024 13:56

Hope it starts to ramp up soon @Namechangedecisions

Namechangedecisions · 17/01/2024 14:17

Thanks both. Not sure why I had a wobble there! Have now passed some clots but the bleeding is still quite light, definitely no heavier than a period. Definitely feel less pregnant though! May just do what @Chunk9 did and take the extra tablets.

Namechangedecisions · 17/01/2024 18:47

Just an update. Have passed more clots, bleeding like a medium flow period. The second dose of tablets under tongue made me shiver uncontrollably so I just jumped into bed and went to sleep. Nausea and appetite are way better

Chunk9 · 18/01/2024 06:57

This is good!! Hope the shivers didn’t last long and you managed to get some sleep. How you feeling this morning?

OP posts:
Namechangedecisions · 18/01/2024 10:13

@Chunk9 thank you, not long just a couple of hours. Tiny bit wiped out this morning but definitely approaching normal!! How are you?

MC2603 · 18/01/2024 17:34

Hi

how are you feeling and how was your experience? I have a call tomorrow morning and just want to get the ball rolling but I have been reading so many horror stories and building myself up into such a panic

Chunk9 · 18/01/2024 18:57

Please don’t panic! It was honestly absolutely fine and manageable. Please stop googling, people tend to only post when they have negative things to say, they are the minority. Majority of the time this treatment works as it should, without complication. There is no point worrying about things that probably won’t happen.

you will be fine. Just try and relax and trust the process. It honestly wasn’t anywhere near as scary or bad as I thought it would be. X
