Worried medical abortion is not working properly

Hi, sorry I am brand new to this so apologies if I do something wrong.

I am 22 and live with my parents and boyfriend. I had a late period and got a strong positive pregnancy test at the start of this week (just stupidness and naivety thinking I was immune to pregnancy- will never make the same mistake again.) and knew almost straight away I can’t have this baby. This is really devastating to me and I’ve been very emotional about it all week but it’s just not an option with our financial and current living situation, as well as Covid. I’m 5 weeks and 1 day.

The only person I’ve talked to about it is my boyfriend, I can’t tell my parents as I’m scared they would kick us out, rightfully. So it feels weird to be typing it.

Anyway to get to the point, I had a phone consultation with a lovely midwife from BPAS on Wednesday evening and had my packet of pills delivered to my door yesterday morning- can’t fault them, they have been very gentle and non-judgemental which I’m thankful for. Took the first pill yesterday lunchtime and the second set at 3:30pm today, 4 hours ago, along with 30mg of codeine. So far I’ve had fairly bad cramping but nothing much worse than my worst period pains, no bleeding whatsoever.
I’ve just inserted the second lot of misoprostol about ten minutes ago. Feeling no pain whatsoever now. I’m worried that something hasn’t worked or I’ve done it wrong. Can someone please advise? I’m pretty scared and I don’t know what I’ll do if it doesn’t work.

Just started bleeding! 23.5 hours after taking the first set of misoprostol. A little at first but quite a lot now. I can’t even begin to describe the relief! Still no pain really but we’ll see.

That's good news, bet you are relieved! Before I had mine I had visions of really heavy bleeding and pain like you read about and see on tv etc. Mine was not like that at all. Really similar to a slightly heavier period than normal. People's bodies must just react in different ways.

Take care of yourself and rest and drink plenty of water.

Thank goodness. I’m so pleased you are ok and that you told your mum! I would want my daughters to tell me.

Oh well done for telling your mum. So glad youve got the support. Please don't beat yourself up so much, mistakes happen - you don't need to pay for it for the rest of your life.

I think you should now be through the worst of the pain, I doubt you'll get any worse now - you were so early it wouldn't feel a lot different from a period.

Well done for telling your mum, OP. I know if you were mine I would want to know, so I could support and comfort you.

I'm also glad things are moving. It really may not be particularly painful at the stage you're at, as I said.

Thanks all :) I do feel much better for telling her. The whole thing’s been much easier than I expected, the worst part was waiting and stressing about it.

im writing this in distress…so I took a pregnancy test which gave me a strong positive.with me being in university and financially dependent on my parents I can’t afford to be pregnant and I’m really scared.so I took 4 pills of misoprostol and kept warm as instructed,problem is I don’t have much blood and my feet were cold for the entire 4 hours till I used a water bottle.I’ve been experiencing diarrhoea and mild cramps which comes and goes and light bleeding.I’m so scared and shaking and thinking of the worst that maybe the pills aren’t working 😭😭😓

I'm 18 years old and I've recently found out that I am/was pregnant.
I had a medicated abortion and I am completely shocked
I took the pill and I started cramping about and hour after there was no bleeding whatsoever for about 5 hours . At that time it was around 9 at night and I took the pill at 4 . I was cramping badly for those hours .
I passed out 2 clots and had light bleeding . I am/was 3 weeks and 2 days at the time of my medicated abortion.

I'm worried that I didn't bleed enough or something went wrong . I've had some pain in my pelvic area and I suspect that it's an ectopic pregnancy.

Is it okay if I bleed a little due to the fact that I'm only 3 weeks

Unsure! You'll probably need to phone the doctors and check if that's possible? x

Hello, am 25 and am two weeks gone and not keeping it. I have had the second dose 9hrs ago and no bleeding till now. I'm scared. What should I do?

I’m the same over 48 hours after taking second pills now and only a bit of light spotting… think the earlier on the longer it takes

Hi hun did it end up working for you just took my first two, I'm about 4 weeks past the date of conception so about 4 weeks/5 weeks pregnant x

Hi I'm really worried I took my medication Christmas Eve and only started to bleed after 24 hours it's now 48 and nothing just blood when I wipe .. as anyone else had this ? 😭😭 how did you get on??

how Many weeks are you ? I'm super worried and I don't feel myself at all 😭 there isn't much blood at all now either and still no cramps are anything .. 😭 I'm not sure what to do I just feel like it s not worked.

I'm around the same the last day of my period was the 19th of November, I'm so sad today the thought it ant worked .. I just wanted it over with I read loads of reviews saying people started before are after 3 hours and I'm 48 hours in and my bleeding as calmed down since this morning and I just no I haven't passed anything ? Is there much to pass? I don't know what even happens next I don't want a surgical :( x

Also my cramps go on and off and there not even painfull I have to think about them to even notice them, it's surely not right.

Hey, I was also five weeks and I didn't bleed much at all it started light then eventually was just like a l period. Call the aftercare line hun if you're not bleeding and they'll advise you on what steps to take next xx

Omg that as made me feel soooo much better, I feel like it's just a normal period ... and it's not what I'm expecting ! Did you have much pain? Maybe it's just coming away from me lightly and slowly x
