GOOD LUCK TODAY TO: Muser and Digging

LadyBee all sounding good

Redders good heavens woman, not another one with a fancy cervix!

Clarea how about chanelling Isabella Blow for the day?

Alba OMG hostess extraordinaire!

How's it going with our lovely lurkers? Jolls? Who else has graduated but not put on their mortarboards yet?

diggingforvictory · 05/07/2010 09:19

I like the shiney new thread! The old one kept crashing my browser so this is much better!

Welcome Annie, Jocesar and Lotta.

Redhead, sorry to hear of your drama over the weekend, but glad it worked out well in the end. At least you'll get another scan soon.

Alba I'm very impressed with your pool party! Just the thought of looking after a dozen 12 year olds fills me with horror, so hats off to you!

I'll post again later after my nuchal scan. I picked up the heartbeat on my doppler again on Friday, so I'm not too worried about this one.

randomimposter · 05/07/2010 09:45
Unbuffy · 05/07/2010 10:14

(saw ya jolls! ...)

Blimey there's a lot going on! Best for Digging and Muse today, thinking of you.

Talk about rollercoaster, rhg. Hope all is well now though, take (some) reassurance from all those ladies that bleed all the way though and end up with happy babbies, or those people who carry on having 'periods' and never know they're pregnant until the last minute, or just before!

Ladybee, I'm afraid it's the old KCCO advice for you, Keep Calm and Carry On, I'm sure all is well and Those Machines are a lot ledd infallible than they maintain - before dd was born they used one to swear blind she was going to weigh about 9lb - needless to say she was 7lb 2. Depends on weather, sonographer, position of bean, everything really but they won't say that! Besides, I can't see how they can say 'aha, 5.6mm, must be developed to x minutes', surely they develop at fractionally different rates anyway - lots one day, not too much the next, etc, just like big people do. Personal bugbear, will shut up now.

Gilda how's the kitty? It might adopt you if you keep feeding it... we have several 'street cats' (not that it's really a street, more a hill road with houses here and there) who seem to belong to about 5 houses each - less strain on each house, but still a kitty!

Alba 12 nearly-teens? Blimey lady, what about you taking it easy?

Hi to new folks, and apologies to anyone I've missed - mad waves anyhoo. Brian truly frazzled!

Wish I could settle down and rest actually, feels like our weekend away was years ago and just want to burst into tears all the time right now. Doesn't help that dd woke very early and wouldn't stop crying - this is very unusual and I don't know what's wrong. Seeing consultant this afternoon, must read up on vbac stats (preferably without crying) so as to know what to ask. Have to take dd (grizzly, yay) with me as have nobody to look after her. Feeling very alone all round, actually, am at that point where I'm starting to feel really pregnant but not look it quite yet iyswim so people don't give that extra help/slack. Am also v jealous of you working ladies, at least you have people to talk to between the ages of 1 1/2 and 85. Am quite looking forward to puppies, then I might get visitors, also permanantly something there to cuddle.

End of rant, if i go on it might would get very boring. hope you are all well anyway!

x

HappyGirl1 · 05/07/2010 10:29

Welcome Annie, Lotta and Jocesar - hope you all find this thread to be a fantastic support as we all have.

Best of luck Muser and Digging and Unbuffy - hope all of your scans and appointments today go really well. Best best best of luck.

Alba wow that was some party! well done you!

No real news in my world, had pretty horrible MC dreams on Saturday night which really knocked me for six and have made me start to worry now about the 20 week scan. Trying to stay positive though I really really am - I know it's great to be this far but something like that just really threw me. My expanding belly though does give me positive vibes! I just wish the MW had listened to the heartbeat at 16 weeks, that would have been so so great.

Muser · 05/07/2010 10:29

Positive news from scan. There's a sac and a yolk sac in my wombular. She couldn't see the baby yet but said that's not unusual at this stage. I am numb.

Goodluckbear · 05/07/2010 10:49

Yay Muser!!! That sounds like a perfect scan. So pleased for you xxxxxxxxxx

Welcome to Annie, josecar and Lotta.

Waves to jollster!!

And good luck to Digging for today.

Unbuffy - glad you come here for some grown up chat, hope the appointment today goes ok, will be thinking of you, sounds really tiring today.

Sorry not to namecheck properly, just got back from weekend away and haven't screwed on my head properly yet.

xxxx

Meita · 05/07/2010 11:06

Good morning all,
my this is busy! Don't have much time but just wanted to say hi, welcome to the newbies (you've come to the right place) and thanks for dropping in SamB - hope you manage to get your computer sorted!

One more thing, re: the dating inconsistencies - a colleague who is a MW but also a midwifery historian told me, when I explained that my scan dates were a little off my own dates (I knew quite precisely when I had ovulated thanks to charting): She said that boys grow faster than girls in the first trimester, but the scan dating goes with the averages. So if they put you ahead of your own dates, it might simply be because it's a boy, and if they put you behind your own dates, it might be because you are having a girl. I found that reassuring. My own scan dating is between three and six days off the range that I think is at all possible, judging by my charting.

Muser · 05/07/2010 11:31

Redheadgal · 05/07/2010 11:41

Woot woot for Muser! That's great news.

Alba - am seriously impressed with you. What a great SM you are! I thought I was on good form this weekend with 'the best meal ever' (my 8 yr old DSD claimed), high speed punting and a water fight (which didn't end in tears!). Can't imagine the carnage of tents combined with swimming pool.

Unbuffy- you poor thing. Really hope the appointment today goes well. I know what it feels like to be starved of adult conversation. I'm pretty much a hermit during the week with only my cats for company. Hope your puppies help.

Thankfully our cats are pretty cuddlesome (our big maine coon is warming my toes as I write) so I say go for it Gi1da

Sorry to hear about the nightmares HappyG - not too long until the 20 week scan though and the gynaecologist reminded me yesterday that it is really really rare for pregnancies to fail in the second trimester.

No sign of any bleeding today so my friable cervix seems to have settled down. Whoopeee. Can get back to celebrating the start of the second trimester and telling people

Unbuffy · 05/07/2010 11:58

YAY MUSER !

Happy - don't worry too much, you really are past the mostest danger point now, just wait for those little bubbles and squirms (try lying on your tummy for a few seconds that really winds 'em up...) But don't expect the paranoioa to stop quite yet!

HappyGirl1 · 05/07/2010 13:26

Well Muser that is such good news!! really pleased for you

Now Digging hope your scan goes well too and Unbuffy hope your appt goes well too.

Today is a busy day in appointments world!

Redheadgal great news the bleeding has stopped. You have been through so so much you poor thing. Not sure if it's any consolation but a friend of mine who MC'd last year and is about 29 weeks now has had some bleeding intermittently throughout this pg but it's been put down to scar tissue from her D&C and the baby is totally totally fine. Now I would never have heard of that before but just thought it might help to hear of someone who has had bleeding and baby all doing well so far and she's quite far along.

Meita that's really interesting re the different speeds at which boys and girls grow!

Muser just saw you joined the list too.. for me that was a big big step so huge big whoop whoop for you for joining that's great!

Unbuffy your right I do think when hopefully I can feel baby I'll start to relax a bit more and it'll feel more real. Now I know how completely daft this sounds given how big my belly is but I still sometimes look down and am just flabbergasted that there is a baby inside me! I know I know i sound ridiculous but its just so hard to actually believe it could be happening. Thanks for the tip re lying on my tummy I'll try that! I've had a few 'bubbles' but I think they might just be hunger bubbles - i dunno! It's hard to know what they feel like which leads me to believe I haven't felt them yet! I will however be trying the lying on my tummy trick tonight! Thanks Unbuffy!

Hope everyone is having a good afternoon!

diggingforvictory · 05/07/2010 15:36

My scan went really well. The baby even waved to me (ok, moved it's arm, but I'm counting it as a wave). The sonographer said everything looked good but couldn't give me the nuchal test result until they have the blood results back. The baby is measuring very big for 12+2, but she didn't adjust my dates.

Unbuffy, sorry to hear you're in need of adult conversation. I know the feeling! I find listening to radio 4 helps. Good luck with your appointment this afternoon.

Muser that's great news. Hold on tight for the rollercoaster to 12 weeks!

Happygirl you could well be feeling the baby! With my DS they felt like bubbles for a while (eventually they turned into hard kicks which really hurt!)

Meita that's interesting. That would mean I'm having a girl so let's see what they see at the 20 week scan!

I'd better go and wake DS up or he'll never sleep tonight.

Meita · 05/07/2010 17:01

digging good news! But hang on a moment, I think if your baby is measuring big for dates at 12 weeks it means it's more likely to be a boy? As they grow faster in the first trimester. But hey, it's all averages anyway and I'm sure there are some slow-growing boys and fast-growing girls out there as well!

Yay Muser and well done for thinking positively!

I'm positively itching to spend more money than I have on fancy stuff like breast-feeding tops. Is that actually something one needs? I'm hesitating - won't normal tops do? And what if I spend all this money and then BF doesn't work out? Ah, decisions...

diggingforvictory · 05/07/2010 17:43

Meita, you're right, pregnancy brain already. It means I should be having a boy.

I'd get feeding tops if I were you. It'll make life much easier. I started off without, but got fed up taking half my t-shirt off and trying to maintain some sort of decency.

Meita · 05/07/2010 17:59

Thanks digging Good to have experienced opinions!

louisesh · 05/07/2010 20:18

Hi aLL....Welcome to all newbies!!Hi to MEITA how you doing?

Have bought a pram/pushchair and 2 tops!!!! My mum and sister have bought LOADS of lovely cute clothes.....ARH......

SamanthaB123 · 05/07/2010 20:50

Hi all, great news on the scans today, fab! Computer still broken so posting on phone again. Having a scan tomorrow to check the size of the cyst on my right ovary. Hoping it hasn't grown much. I'm thinking of it as another opportunity to see my baby (to check she is still a girl!) rather than as a worry. Will post when I can with any news. Sorry for the rubbish post, fx computer will be fixed soon! SB x

Moofold · 05/07/2010 21:08

Hi everyone, was having a quick lurk and saw the messages from Alba and Gi1da about lurkers so thought I would fess up and say hello properly. Just don't want to get too carried about by getting comfy here before my scan to check how things are going in 2 weeks.

Reds that must be really scary bleeding like that. I've no experience of it but sounds reassuring from the others that things still turn out perfectly well. That's a new term I'll need to check out - a friable cervix??

LadyBee can understand why the dating would have thrown you but hang on in there. As you say, have a positive attitude and look after yourself and the little one. Unbuffy hope your appointment went well x

Waves to everyone else - good to see everyone doing so well x

BUnderTheBonnet · 05/07/2010 21:43

Well, I can't have muser showing me up can I? Time to zip up my big girl suit and stop lurking...

Clear blue digi said 3+ right on cue, (must stop POAS too..) and I feel sick as a dog too. Hurray! Also, weird poky pains in boobs. It's all good.

Got a doctor's appointment on Monday, and because I don't really have a LMP (just weird post mc spotting) I will try to wangle an early dating scan...

I have also just realised I have no idea how pg I am, nor what my due date is. Fertility Friend said EDD 1st March, but I also thought I was 6 weeks today, which doesn't mesh with Muser's dates. FF and the due date calcualtor on MN don't agree either. Sod it, I'll guess.

Muser · 06/07/2010 08:21

All the calculators I've used have been different BUnder. I've had a range from 27 Feb to 1 March. So I went for the one the hospital gave me. I bet it changes.

Unbuffy · 06/07/2010 09:30

ooooo... Sleepless night. Not sure why. JUST what I need right now.

Appointment yesterday was a bit mmmm. Not a lot I didn't know from me reading, and saw a trainee (I always seem to end up with trainees. Grrr). Afterwards dh said, 'did you realise that she was the (useless) first person we saw when you went in for the erpc?'. I had not realised, thank goodness. Anyway she's made an appointment for me to see the head of midwives at the hospital since there is no relation between 'community' and 'hospital' arround here (the hopsital is nearly an hour away) so hopefully that will be more helpful.

Hi everyone Hope you are all good. I'm off to groan quietly in a corner.

Redheadgal · 06/07/2010 09:32

Hi guys,

All good news here at RH HQ. No more bleeding and the lovely doctor I saw at A&E arranged for me to have sneaky scan yesterday. Got to see my bean again and all's well. Waggled it's feet at me and I got to hear the heart beat!

At least I won't worry now if I have any more bleeding. The chances are everything's fine. Since miscarrying I've been equating bleeding with losing the baby and now I have to accept there may be more innocent reasons why pregnant women occasionally bleed.

Hello to Moo and BUnder! As for dates, the EPU didn't believe me when I told them my dates even though I was absolutely sure. They still had to check to see if I was even pregnant and kept saying that if my hCG levels came back less than 1500 they wouldn't scan me. I clocked in with a whopping 78,000 - spot on for my dates! After my dating scan I've been moved so far forward that I really can't see how could possibly have conceived then. I'm not going to worry though. These things will sort themselves out and baby's bound to be late anyway.

SamanthaB - hope your scan goes well today. Will have fx

Louiseh - enjoy a bit of time off!

HappyGirl - hope you start feeling those bubbles soon

Meita - can't contribute to the bf tops, but was mightily impressed by the list of things you've already sorted out - am bearing it all in mind.

Digging - woot woot for a good scan yesterday!

Waves to everyone else!

HappyGirl1 · 06/07/2010 10:15

Unbuffy - snap on the sleepless night. Feel shattered already and it's only 10.15. No idea how I'll get through the day.

That's rubbish that your appt yesterday wasn't as productive as it should have been. Was it meant to be a scan? Good that you have another appt though - hopefully that'll be soon? Really frustrating though yesterday wasn't what you had expected.

Redheadgal that's great news you saw your bean yesterday! How exciting - fab news.

Well best go back to work I guess, being so tired does not equate to a very motivated or productive HappyGirl but I best get moving

Have a good morning all

toomuchteaching · 06/07/2010 18:15

Woo woo... what lovely good news all round! This place really cheers me up at the mo, it's so nice. So welcome sneaky lurkers and well done to all with happy scans and appointments... it's brilliant.

That's all I had to say.
