i threw all but the big stuff out in fit of it's never going to happen pique.

so i have:

car seat. cot. floor seat thingy. chest carrier.

am 33 weeks and haven't got anything else yet.

this is what i'm thinking:

  • 10 or so plain white soft babygrows (sleeveless, plus couple of sleeve and leg ones).
  • 2 bravado nursing bras (they were good last time).
  • some nappies.
  • tommee tippee breast pads (they were the only ones that didn't leak last time).
  • bedding for cot bed, new mattress too
  • pool in a box for homebirth i'm hoping for
  • big knicks for catching all the post birth gubbins.

that's it.

am i missing anything? anything been invented that is amazing since i last did this seven (count em) years ago?

any fabulous tips? thanks ladies.

A sunhat and sunglasses?

cyteen · 27/06/2010 16:05

Muslins? DS puked on me ten times a day at least for the first year of his life.

Heathcliffscathy · 27/06/2010 16:05

Heathcliffscathy · 27/06/2010 16:06

Bonsoir · 27/06/2010 16:06

I was thinking for the baby! I met my neighbour's new born baby for the first time yesterday and he had a hat and sunglasses on!

Enormarse · 27/06/2010 16:06

SOPHABLE! How did I miss you being pg?! (Old timer but serial name changer) Congrats!

muslins
baby wipes (not for baby just for accompanying mess)

Enormarse · 27/06/2010 16:08

Cotton wool pads for cleaning baby's bottom if not using wipes

Heathcliffscathy · 27/06/2010 16:08

cotton wool and water initially but yes wipes! it always bothered me that wipes can wipe literally anything clean...what do they have in them?

Heathcliffscathy · 27/06/2010 16:09

what did i know you as enormarse (change your name, i'm sure it's not that big!)

ILoveGregoryHouse · 27/06/2010 16:11

Maternity pads to put in your big knickers.

Definitely muslins.

Lansinoh for sore boobs?

A pram?

CristinaTheAstonishing · 27/06/2010 16:12

Oh, Sophable, congratulations on your pg. Are you still in SW London?

Heathcliffscathy · 27/06/2010 16:12

sorry yes, am borrowing a v nice pram (bugaboos are nice right?) from a lovely friend.

Heathcliffscathy · 27/06/2010 16:13

I used reusable wipes from the get go.

But I also soaked some heavy duty kitchen roll in watery chamomile tea with a few drops of jojoba oil.

What about some choccies and wine for you?

Blankets for swaddling?

And for you: witch hazel for postpartum grazes, Bach's Rescue Remedy spray, arnica tablets and cream, frozen peas, fennel tea.

Enormarse · 27/06/2010 16:14

LOL - oh no it is that big! I might have been DANCESwith...something when I knew you. I'm sure you sent me a couple of A-line cord skirts!

Enormarse · 27/06/2010 16:16

OH and metanium. It is the rolls royce of nappy cream - I love sudocrem (and it's non-toxic when your dd eats it ) but metanium is the dogs wotsits.

Heathcliffscathy · 27/06/2010 16:16

yes yes one was purple! good.

expat...grazes i HOPE! was little graze last time but i'm paranoid about big tearing this time for some strange reason

have most of that except witch hazel in the house!

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 27/06/2010 16:18

yy to some sort of metanium (i used Weleda and it was really good, too!).

make sure you have plenty of baby-friendly laundry soap - non bio, or soap nuts, for example - for the washing.

witch hazel in a spray bottle. put it in the fridge.

good for spraying your face during labour, too, if you get hot.

pillows! lots of pillows for the feeding.

can't believe it's 33 weeks already!!

Heathcliffscathy · 27/06/2010 16:23

i know! can't quite believe there is a baby at the end of this (shite, there goes england out of the world cup)

OP posts:
Enormarse · 27/06/2010 16:23

YY - still have them both but too fat for brown one at the moment (nevermind too hot)!

It is funny, am totally anonymous but have been here so long that I know, for example, know that expat LOVES Neighbours

Gap socks are the only ones that stay on - very useful for when it gets cooler in the evenings

Habbibu · 27/06/2010 16:24

Freezer full of food, sophable. TV remote that works, plus DVDs.

yy to reusable wipes and muslins.

Heathcliffscathy · 27/06/2010 16:25

ha! i do have some baby gap socks. great little grip pads on bottom. bought them in the states.

OP posts:
Habbibu · 27/06/2010 16:26

I've never seen the point of grip pads on the bottom of newborn socks. Someone explain it, please.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 27/06/2010 16:35

Do you need any reusable nappies? I have a few to give away. Covers too.

Heathcliffscathy · 27/06/2010 16:38

haven't decided what i'm doing about nappies yet. think might start with disposables (mea culpa).
