i threw all but the big stuff out in fit of it's never going to happen pique.

so i have:

car seat. cot. floor seat thingy. chest carrier.

am 33 weeks and haven't got anything else yet.

this is what i'm thinking:

  • 10 or so plain white soft babygrows (sleeveless, plus couple of sleeve and leg ones).
  • 2 bravado nursing bras (they were good last time).
  • some nappies.
  • tommee tippee breast pads (they were the only ones that didn't leak last time).
  • bedding for cot bed, new mattress too
  • pool in a box for homebirth i'm hoping for
  • big knicks for catching all the post birth gubbins.

that's it.

am i missing anything? anything been invented that is amazing since i last did this seven (count em) years ago?

any fabulous tips? thanks ladies.

Don't worry about the nappies I didn't bother much with them for my 3rd either.

Get a few Bravado tanks. I lived in them.

Aitch · 27/06/2010 17:40

yy to dried fruit, or dried fruit bars. i always just used a jug of warm water for post partum bits and the loo. ugggh. glad i don't have to do that again, my poor bits!

got a nice dressing gown, i presume? if not, now would be the time to treat yourself.

Heathcliffscathy · 27/06/2010 18:22

it is a (big) boy. ds has/will have a brother.

he has a name too. has had for months. but if i say then a) you'll all say it's wrong. and b) i'll be even more totally identifiable than i already am!

aw.

a wee man.

congratulations .

mears · 27/06/2010 18:23

hiya expat. Haven't been around as much but am still here!

Ledodgy · 27/06/2010 18:26

Now don't laugh but dp bought me Tennerlady nappies instead of pads by mistake. He just looked at the teardrops and chose the ones with most absorbancy. Anyway I used them post birth and God they were fab. They are disposable, they catch all the gubbins and not only that they cushion your sore bits. They are expensive but worth it imo. My midwife said she was going to recommend them to mothers from then on.

Heathcliffscathy · 27/06/2010 18:28

good tip ledodgy.

Feeding cushion -not sure if thats been mentioned.

So glad your pregnancy is going well.

Heathcliffscathy · 27/06/2010 18:32

now you see last time i had a feeding cushion and it meant that i never learnt how do do without it so had to pile coats up to feed ds when out and about. this time am determined to go for no cushion...but may crumple if it gives me neck ache.

traceybath · 27/06/2010 18:34

Aha - I've had 3 c-sections so it was useful for the first couple of weeks.

Ledodgy · 27/06/2010 18:35

You haven't mentioned baby vests you can never have too many vests. Also those babygrows they do in Matalan with the built in scratch mits are fab.

expatinscotland · 27/06/2010 18:42

a bell. to summon your DH when you're feeding the baby and in need of refreshment. .
