RooBear - fret not - I feel v.little. I have to concentrate really hard when I'm lying down and put my hand on my belly and then I can feel it. I have to admit though, it doesn't really feel anything like butterflies! They say it's more than normal/common at our stage not to be feeling much/anything. It's so so easy to worry though!
Enjoy your half day off!

Daynee · 04/06/2010 15:35

Ha! That's what I was thinking Eleanor - Everyone says it feels like butterflies, but for me, it's been more like snakes, with the occasional poking, like from a hand or foot!

Dilly - I hear you loud and clear. Not sure if my dh can afford to pick up all that slack if I cut down to part time, and that would also mean I'd have to cut WAY down on clothes shopping and going out to restaurants ....BUT it would allow me more time to work on my book!! Not to mention, more time to take care of the baby!

Jacksmybaby · 04/06/2010 15:38

I don't think the early movements are like butterflies either Daynee - more like a little frog hopping up and down!

Great scan news Dilly.

DillyDora · 04/06/2010 16:43

LOL at your frog jacks I've never felt anything like butterflies either except that once in the 12 week scan when the baby turned over.

Oooh, Daynee a book - brilliant!

The sonographer told us the reason I didn't feel much was because the baby is still v small relative to all the space/fluid/big thick uterine wall and what have you. Hope that helps.

DillyDora · 04/06/2010 16:56

Thinks - from 20 weeks baby can hear us in the womb right (not just the alarming noises of my digestion, but my voice too...) so...he can hear me belching like some kind of dreadful deep sea creature? Nice....

Hevster · 04/06/2010 17:20

Glad all your scans have gone well, baby can definately hear as it kicks like crazy whenever dd1 has a tantrum! Hope u all have a great weekend sorry can't write much but waiting in doctors and it's hard ging posting by phone!

Jacksmybaby · 04/06/2010 17:31

r u ok Hevster?

Hevster · 05/06/2010 07:06

Jacks yeah, hanging in there, have to see Doctor every 2 weeks at the mo. Have finally got her to agree that I can work from home from Monday so stand by and watch the civil service get a kick up the arse when I log on!

RooBear · 05/06/2010 12:41

hmm had 6 nose bleeds in less than 24 hours, whats going on?!

Hevster · 05/06/2010 15:41

RooBear think it's a pregnancy sympton, probably made worse by the heat/humidity. I had them last time but haven't this time yet. If you are bothered you could always ring someone and ask?

Jacksmybaby · 05/06/2010 19:28

Yes, RooBear, nose bleeds v common pg symptom (along with blood-tinged snot, nice!) - something to do with the nasal blood vessels being dilated I think. I'd call someone if bleeding heavily though and/or for a long time.

Hevster good news re being able to WFH.

Anyone else got absolutely torrential rain in their part of the world?!

Hevster · 06/06/2010 07:52

still no rain here - wouldn't mind a bit to save me watering my vegetables!

Saartjie · 07/06/2010 13:24

My movements feels like someone is tickling me on the inside of the belly, very strange indeed. It was going mad last night. Still finding it quite weird.

Never thought I would say this but the weekend felt very loooooong. Waiting for the scan on Wed is driving me up the wall. Have gone from feeling absolutely brilliant to a moody cow again. Not fun for me or anyone around me that's for sure.

I am so worried about what they are going to say on the scan. It would be great to hear about other's experiences of the 20 week scan so I know what to expect.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

DillyDora · 07/06/2010 13:31

Saartjie I really enjoyed my 20w scan. It's quite long, they show you every bit of the baby - heart, brain, bones, face as they are checking everything is normal, even the blood flow through their little bodies - amazing. We had a really nice sonographer who was having great fun so I hope you will too. Worst case scenario - something is up with baby, it's better to know. Some things correct themselves, some can be corrected soon after birth and job done! It is scary, I was nervous about it but most babies are just fine so try not to worry to much, Lovely.

Hevster · 07/06/2010 15:25

Saartjie we had a really good 20 week scan too, the minute I saw the baby on the screen again everything seemed to go out of my head as I was so transfixed by the fact that that it really was still there. My sonographer got straight on with it and pointed out all the vital organs etc, explained legs, arms, spine and then at the end told me it was a girl. Reckon we all feel nervous and panic that there will be something wrong but it's rare. Hope the next 2 days pass quickly for you

Jacksmybaby · 07/06/2010 15:34

Saartjie I had a great 20wk scan this time round with a very informative sonographer who pointed out everything... BUT just so you are forewarned, my 20wk scan last time with DS was very different, we weren't shown anything on the screen until sonographer had finished doing all the checks, which she did in silence, so we had an agonising 10 mins wondering if all was ok or was something wrong (all was fine as it turned out). I only mention it so you know it's a possibility you could get a sonographer like this and don't freak out like I did. I hope you get one of the more talkative ones though!

RooBear · 07/06/2010 16:18

think I may have felt first movements! like a belly rumble? my scan was quite long saartjie but the way the screen was facing only DH could see, luckily he kept me informed along with the sonogrpher qll the way through x

Saartjie · 07/06/2010 16:29

Thanks all for reassuring words. I am very much looking forward to it. Will try not to obsess over that something could be wrong and use positive thinking. DH is also very excited as he especially is looking forward to finding out what it is. I don't care what it is as long as it is healthy. Thanks again all. I feel much better.

Hevster · 07/06/2010 17:40

RooBear woohoo, excellent news

MummyBeth · 07/06/2010 22:16

JAcks That's exactly what mine was like this time - I was a bit miffed but I heard the words 'Baby is completly fine' and chilled - she let us watch the screen for ages at the end when we could see the whole thing rather than just part of it - DH could see the screen but he said you couldn't make anything out anyway so I'll content myself with that.

Did I tell you all I ended up in Hospital last weekend - actually weekend before now I think of it? Scary night of intense pain so called triage - they told me to go in - think it was a urinary infection - they just gave me antibiotics and sent me home!!! Now the antibiotics have caused a bit of thrush - I think - never had thrush before so just assuming that's what it is - off to GP tomorrow.

Drama drama drama!

MummyBeth · 07/06/2010 22:18

Oh and Roo - you can have some of my movements if you want - This baby is quite a mover - and I can tell when it's going to go now too - 10pm, 2am and 5am - give or take an hour!!

Hevster · 08/06/2010 09:08

MummyBeth you poor thing, how horrible to have infection then thrush , glad your baby is mover too, mine goes nuts and yes always at the same times. Really hoping it doesn't become a night wriggler because DD was and it really vexed me to be woken up in the latter stages when sleep is hard to come by!

RooBear · 08/06/2010 11:44

thanks guys! I'm knackered this morning, woke at 4am to feel my face all warm-another nose bleed, pillow and face covered in blood, after 10mins in the bathroom couldn't really fall back asleep wonder if I should get my blood pressure checked?

MummyBeth · 08/06/2010 13:19

oh my Roo - that would scare the bejaysus out of me! Yes I would get that checked out for sure! x

JazzieJeff · 08/06/2010 13:42

Oh MummyBeth, so sorry to hear about your hospital trip! I'm normally really prone to urinary infections and they are horrible horrible HORRIBLE! Hope you feel better soon. Anitbiotics do sometimes cause thrush, which sucks but at least you can sort that out no problems. I drink a little carton of cranberry juice every day to keep infections at bay and always filter tap water. Since I started doing that (touch wood) it's always kept them at bay
Baby is starting to go a bit crazy at night times... just when I'm drifting off to sleep! He also loves it when DH puts his ear on my tummy and talks softly to him, he kicks super hard and it makes DH so happy
Dilly! A boy! Oh I'm so happy for you, that's lush! Although I have been mourning the loss of buying Lelly Kelly shoes...
Roo, hope the nose bleed thing sorts itself out, I'd definately get yourself down to the doctors. Sounds awful
xx
