October 2010 babies?

Hi, I am a first-timer Mum to Be and Baby has been given a due date of 1 October. Very early dates still, so nervous and excited I cannot think about anything else! Planning not to tell family and friends till the first three months are over, but it's going to be tough!
Anyone else expecting an October baby out there?

mamjo I think I would have been the same in that waiting room,
When the MW asked me 2 seconds into my booking appt where i wanted to give birth I almost vomited on the spot! (didn't even think to look at boyfriend I imagine he was the same...)!

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 10/03/2010 19:25

Thanks everyone! I'll look into it further!

Mummywilliams - welcome! Maybe we should do a list of everyones due date... wether it is thier 1st child etc?

I'll try to start...

Anythingwithagiraffeonit - EDD 15th October - 1st DC!

MrsSenior · 10/03/2010 19:31

Thanks for the welcomes ladies

I have felt a bit wierd today as I suddenly have no sickness, don't feel exhausted and I'm sure my boobs feel less sore (have had these symptoms for the last 4 weeks!!) I'm really worried, but guess that's just my life now,.. being worried if you're not feeling sick, being sick, feeling sick, worrying.... I never thought I would wish for sickness after the last 4 weeks of constant nausea.

It sounds like few of you guys have had similar feelings so I guess it's normal. Will have to wait til my 12 week scan to find out.

Any odd cravings anyone?? I have just been wanting one particular type of garlic bread for weeks now, and can't find the right one.... typical. Oh, and mushroom soup, which doesn't sound that strange, but I don't like mushrooms, never have!!

MummyWilliams · 10/03/2010 21:02

Anythingwithagiraffeonit how about something like this

Mummywilliams Welcome to the thread, I'm sorry about your mc last year. I hope this pregnancy is progressing nicely for you.

Mrssenior My symptons have been coming and going, they don't seem to be a constant thing. I had a scan the other day and there was definately a (very cheeky) baby in there.

Anythingwithagiraffe Oooo thats a good idea.

Talking of odd cravings, MrsSenior, I was at my mum's on Monday and she asked if I wanted anything to eat. I looked around the kitchen and there was a box of Bonio on the side.....

I said "I rather fancy a Bonio, actually"

She said I couldn't eat dog biscuits and gave me a cream cracker.

I'm still craving the Bonio.....

Hi All

Too superstitious for the list till after the 12 week scan

Yeah - mrssenior I'm sure the symptoms come and go - I felt really well yesterday, and really quite well today. I'm pathetically grateful!

Anything are you a member of your union? They might be able to help. Sounds v dodge to me.

Hermya no, I can't wait for the scan, I was soooo excited when they gave me the date. I just want to see it and know it's really happening. Also respect to you for offering to represent your country in the sofa surfing event - v. proud.

Work is mental today - I think the adrenaline might be damping down the sickness!!!
Have a lovely day everyone
xx

Hermya- I think you need a team for that event so I will join you. I will have to convert from laying on a bed but I'm sure I can

babybunting2010 · 11/03/2010 17:41

Anything: Am shocked by your work and I'm pretty sure they can't say anything my midwife gave me this booklet. I hope the link works www.berr.gov.uk/files/file34285.pdf but it says in there that if you take sickness due pregnancy related issues they can not question it!

Hermya321 · 11/03/2010 19:55

Nymph Now be warned, the training regime is punishing. But we do have an opening on the sofabed scheme, you will have to provide your own pillows though.

Dilly It's an honour it really is.

I got really upset today at work, I found out that my friends are doing some work in an area that I really really wanted to do. Due to my pregnancy it wouldn't be safe for me to do it, it didn't stop me getting upset about it though. I started crying in the office. How embarassing.

I'm getting really bad pain in and around my hips at the moment. It's been alright so far. But the last few days its been getting worse and worse, to the point today that I couldn't get comfortable at all at work.

Oh well, did you hear about that guy who died outside his house in Machester. It's a real shame for him, but watching that it made me think that in retrospect things weren't that bad in Hermya world.

Nymphadora · 11/03/2010 20:35

Hermya is it similar to the futon one, I used to be an expert at laying on a futon

Hermya321 · 11/03/2010 21:28

Nymph Aye that it is!! I'm sure you'll find your skills come back with a vengence once you try it out again.

nomorewine · 12/03/2010 08:30

Had a very restless night with stomach aches again. Probably my own fault for choosing a chilli dish yesterday right as I was recovering from an upset stomach...Not wise!!

Got my first appointment with the midwife today. DP is coming with me.

babybunting2010 · 12/03/2010 09:02

Thought my morning sickness was starting to pass but have just ended up being very very poorly in the work toilets. Luckily they all know at work (Only 5 in the office and we're all really close!) Thought I was getting away with just feeling sick all day. Now it's turned into actually being sick! Very upset!

Now really struggling to concentrate and sit at my desk. Just want to be in bed now

How' everyone else this morning? Hope feeling better than me?

I really want to join the Sofa Surfing but don't get paid for sick pay.

DillyDora · 12/03/2010 11:46

babyb so sorry to hear you're so poorly - aaargh! And no sick pay! How far along are you now?

Glad to see the Olympic Sofa Surfing Team are getting their training sorted ;0)

Hermya I know what you mean about the work thing. I'm cacking it in relation to work as there are all sorts of plans which will be seriously affected by me being on mat leave, but then I think that the workplace could actually get a grip on themselves and provide proper cover for once. I'll be sorry not to be there at the start of some new projects though (er...though I will be starting a new project of my own!)

Off to Mum's later... hope the w/e will be calm....

Have a good, relaxing w/e everyone
xx

AllieW · 12/03/2010 13:38

babyb that's pants! I thought they weren't allowed to not pay sick pay, but it may be that you'd only be entitled to Statutory which is worse than useless. Hope it all settles soon.

Hope everyone else is well!

My feeling sick has also "progressed" to actually being sick. We're taking my M-i-L out for a meal tomorrow and I have a feeling we may be obliged to tell her.

babybunting2010 · 12/03/2010 13:55

Thanks for the lovely words guys. Have actually managed to calm it back down. Was silly thinking I could get away with not having my travel bands on. They are simply the best thing a pregnant lady can have!

How far are you AllieW? I am just hoping this is the peak of MS and not a sign of things to come!

Think I worked out last night what people were going on about with the "vivid dreams" Wow wasn't expecting anything like that!

sophieandbelly · 12/03/2010 15:20

hope ur starting to feel better babyb,i was very ill also, but dare i say it seems to have passed i should have got some of those travel bands, where did u get them??

i am now thinking race for life will be a stroll rather than a race at 28 weeks!!! is any one else doing it??

nomorewine · 12/03/2010 15:35

Poor you, the sickness sounds horrible. I get waves of feeling queasy & that is bad enough.

Had my midwife appt today. My DP came along despite feeling poorly as he now has the bug.

Was told about the screening test & all the blood tests I would need, and went off with my notes & all the forms to fill in.
They are coming to the house for my booking in appt on the 22nd, and I have my scan date for the 30th March.

babybunting2010 · 12/03/2010 16:51

nomorewine had my appointment with the Midwife on Tuesday, lots of food for thought hey! Mine is trying to convince me to have the baby at home.... Not too sure about that (It's my first one so a little too scared I think!)

Sophieandbelly: I got the sickness bands from Lloyds pharmacy, they were about £8 but saw them yesterday in M&S for £3! They are fab for when you do feel bad.

Week 6-9 had them on all day whilst at work!

nomorewine · 12/03/2010 16:54

My midwife asked me where I would like to give birth & I said "where there is lots of pain relief!"
She guessed from that that I wasn't thinking home birth! This will be my third too, but I am a big coward!
