Oh Rom, I am so sorry... I was like that with DD and I begged for drugs. I would never have considered taking them in the first trimester but when I was still puking all the time at 18 weeks I thought that enough was enough.

I also find that I feel much worse after 5:00pm especially if I haven't had the chance to rest during the day. (You are still at work, aren't you?) Could you try to close your eyes for 1/2 hour at lunch time? It might help a little.

Please keep posting even when you are miserable. Remember DQ's rules...

munz · 08/09/2005 18:41

(((hugs))) rom, so sorry hon, is it worth lookin into that with the m/w about ur sickness? hopefully it will subside soon.

george32 · 08/09/2005 19:02

Any news from the nurse yet Cadmum? I'm so pleased that you found your little ones heartbeat earlier

Rom, you poor thing, your sickness sounds dreadful. How are you coping with work? Have you been to see your doctor about it & told them how bad it is?

Cadmum · 08/09/2005 19:08

Forgot to post after my big non-event phone call. I was told that I should go to A&E if I am really worried but it sounds as if things have resolved themselves since I am no longer having trouble going wee.

Basically: Go away and leave us alone!

george32 · 08/09/2005 19:13

How unhelpful.
When do you next see your GP Cadmum? Is he likely to offer any more help do you think?

Frizbe · 08/09/2005 21:17

lol Cadmum, no I'm not stick thin, more your classic pear shape!! but I did do a shed load of stomach exercises after dd's birth in the hope of getting a resemblance of stomach back....and it was just starting to get there!! ho hum...
Rom you should see the quack re the sickness, especially if you can't keep anything down, Spacecadet has it on the Feb thread, she now has the tablets and is feeling marginally better.....a friend of mine had it thru her last pregnancy, and found that icecream would stay down, so you could try that?? {{{hugs}}}

dramaqueen72 · 08/09/2005 22:39

poor Rom, you sound just like I did. go and speak with the dr, in the end this pg i had to take meds early on, I was falling aprt and trying to run a household, etc.
you have severe sickness, according to my Dr -whos abit mean and 'by the book'- if you can keep nothing at all down fro 36hrs +. that includes water. then you get shipped to hospital and put on a drip so I hope yours doesnt get to that point. try the meds, they didnt 'cure' me (the nausea was still there ) but they DID stop me throwing up -therefore able to get some nourishment. and they were 'safe' too. worth speaking to someone anyhow, because I hate to think of you feeling that bad. ((hug))

munz · 09/09/2005 10:29

cadmum - sorry they were'nt v productive at the hospital. (((hugs))) how are you gettin on thou, DQ's idea was good with the drinking.

rom/Cadmum - happy 14 weeks girls!

rom u still feelin sicky?

Cadmum · 09/09/2005 12:59

I am going to phone the unit again today and insist that I want to be seen. If they are reluctant then I will phone a midwife and pay for the advice if needed (our health care pays for one or the other not both). Once again I was up in the night and simply unable to go... When I really pushed the flow would start but as soon as I stopped pushing there was nothing... I feel as though my bladder is still not emptying properly (Sorry if it is TMI...) I don't think I can bear the thought of an entire week-end of worry and I really don't want to go to A&E and wait there endlessly either.

Rom: I do think that you should talk to your GP about how sick you are... The most I ever threw-up in a day was 4 times and that was partly my fault because I started cleaning as soon as I got up and 'forgot' to eat for an hour.

George: I suppose that I could go to my GP but he has passed my notes on to the consultant as he thought that the high risk unit would moniter me more closely... I am not a particularly big fan or our GP mostly because he is young and tends to refer us to someone else when he doesn't know the answer.(That may be good in this situation though.)

Cadmum · 09/09/2005 13:10

Forgot to add that I found baby's heartbeat (152-156) effortlessly this morning so that makes me feel so much better...

munz · 09/09/2005 13:31

cadmum - glad u got the heart beat - agree u should see the m/w and push for it.

romilly · 09/09/2005 15:35

cadmum - did you have any luck with getting the appointment, i agree you should push for it. its great you heard the heartbeat today.

munz - thankyou for celebrating our 14 week landmark

frizbe, dramaqueen, george, cadmum, munz and j&bm - thankyou all for your advice about my sickness. i have taken you all up that advice and finally gone to the docs this morning - who sent me to hospital for loads of blood tests and urine tests, so they were certainly thorough - they said i could have hyperemesis. the doc has put me on cyclizine (are these the meds you were given DQ?) i am relieved that i am being checked because i was worried about the weight loss - although not surprised as i was not keeping any food down. i am not particularly happy about taking the cyclizine - but then again i may not have any choice.

work has been impossible - i took 3 days off this week. i dont like doing that, but then again i cant be puking up in front of clients and colleagues either. next week i have to be back at work, loads to catch up on and important stuff i cant miss.

enough of me, how is everyone else today?

Cadmum · 09/09/2005 17:58

I am waiting for a second phone call from the unit. It looks as though I may not have anything to worry about since it has only happened at night...

Romilly: I am so glad that you spoke to your GP and that he was thorough. You are courageous for having dealt with it for this long. How much weight have you lost? I had lost 15 lbs by the time I was 18 weeks with DD when I agreed to take the meds. She was 7 lbs and healthy so I think that I was the only one to suffer...I really hope that you get some relief from the meds. I have to say that I had similar results as DQ. It took the edge off and prevented me from vomitting but I still felt pretty sick. (I am nowhere near as bad with this pg... I have only lost 6 lbs so far.

Can't really believe that we are 14 weeks! Only 26 left...

Frizbe · 09/09/2005 18:57

Oh good stuff Rom, hope the tablets help, my friend who had it, ended up being off work, for about 6mths prior to the birth, so I really hope this doesn't happen to you {{{Hugs}}

cadmum, glad they're taking you seriously! hopefully your ok tho?

Cadmum · 09/09/2005 19:17

Thanks Frizbe... I feel OK but it is a bit odd when I am not be able to wee. Thankfully, it only seems to happen at night (presumably because I am horizontal?).

I hate having to speak to the nurses because I feel like a paranoid git...

Frizbe · 09/09/2005 19:20

Good stuff hon!

yingers74 · 09/09/2005 21:48

Rom - hi, hope you are feeling better, I have come a bit late to the table but just wanted to say that you are def not alone. This pregnancy has been better but with first dd, I had severe sickness for six months, I kept nothing down at all including water for a lot of the time, I was dehydarated throughout my pregnancy and was eventually admitted to hospital which actually improved things a lot! They gave me medicine too before I went in but it never really worked and more often than not I threw it up! Throughout the whole experience i was reassured that it was only me that suffered and the baby would be fine & this indeed prove to be the case. As mentioned this time round, things have been a lot better, was ill but no where nearly as bad.

dramaqueen72 · 09/09/2005 23:12

rom, sorry cant remember the name of my meds...dont think its the same but who cares? as long as they work eh? i am so glad you went and they took good care of you and belly bean. may you feel 1000% better asap. take it easy.
just been looking at my pg date calendar (on my computer, used to be obsessed with it now hardly look, LOL!) and it says my THIRD trimester starts sept 25th! omg! I'm so not ready!

Frizbe · 10/09/2005 16:47

Well I have a horrible headache, guess its the weather, a lurvely fine drizzle all day, with a few heavier spots.....please go away headache!
Have been and brought some more industrial bug buster for our house today, poor old cat has been treble checkd and is definately flea free, so its not his fault I'm being eaten alive....just wish I knew what it was.....although we seems to have loads of daddy longlegs about too, so ? will spray carpets for 3rd day running with new bug buster when go to bed tonight!

DQ 3rd Tri! wooo hoooo, baby on way very soon

george32 · 11/09/2005 11:13

Frizbe, we are under attack from daddy long legs too. The spiders in the house are having a field day constructing enormous webs to catch them in
I hope you stop your mystery biting bugs soon.

Rom, I'm so glad you have been to the docs. I hope they work for you and you can get back to some kind of normality.

Cadmum, I'm so pleased you found your little ones heartbeat easily. I hope you get seen by someone soon to put your mind at rest.

Have a good Sunday all.

Cadmum · 11/09/2005 11:34

Good morning everyone! I have been up since 5:00 am so I am bound to be exhausted for the rest of the day. Hope you are all having a nice week-end.

Thanks George! I do feel much better now that the LO is not playing hide and seek. I am starting to look forward to making the big move to New York because health care was one of my biggest worries and it cannot get much worse than here...

We haven?t seen many daddy long legs out yet. I wonder if they will be here later or if they are not found in this region of the world...

Rom, I hope that you are starting to feel better.

romilly · 11/09/2005 15:35

hope everyone is enjoying the weekend (very wet and stormy as it is, at least here in london it's foul - doesnt matter for me much as i havent made it out of the house since friday!)

cadmum and yingers: thankyou for telling me about your experiences with severe m/s and putting my mind at rest about everything turning out fine. in real life (sounds so funny saying that!) none of my friends experienced much sickness, most of them only threw up once or twice in the whole pregnancy. that made me feel like some kind of freak! my mother, however was a different story - and fully sympathizes with me... she was the one who said "get drugs for it!"

frizbe - poor you with the headache, hope it goes soon. also hope you find out who the mystery-biting critters are! i hate bites, i always used to be eaten alive by mozzies whenever we were anywhere remotely exotic, while mr.rom always escaped unscathed.

dramaqueen - just a couple of weeks until the 3rd trimester!!!! that is sooooo brilliant. you will be ready hon. at least ready as you'll ever be

george - how many more weeks of work now? you lucky bugger!

munz & J&BM - hope you two are having a relaxing weekend. how's the move gone J&BM?

romilly · 11/09/2005 15:36

nemo: where are you? how is the spd? did you manage to see a physio yet? hope things are better for you.

Frizbe · 11/09/2005 17:39

Hi all

Well I've re hovered and sprayed all the carpets in the house again, and I've checked the poor cat again, who is still showing no signs of any bugs, poor fella, thinks I've got it in for him, with my flea comb! so fingers x'd I've sorted it all out, but no doubt tonight will tell!!!
We've brought dd a new bed today, so have to see if she'll stay in it tonight! I really hope so....
We've taken a nice stroll in the peaks today, dd's been splashing in puddles in her glittery pink wellies, which she's nearly grown out of, so guess will need some more soon for winter! have to say was very impressed by how far she walked before a piggy back and she's not even 2 yet!
Rom hope your feeling a teeeny bit better
George wierd isn't it! they're everywhere!
Cadmum, are you going to be staying in NYC or are you looking outside? some bits of New Jersey are ok! I can recommend Montclair! only half hour on bus into NYC

Nemo1977 · 12/09/2005 08:40
