Hi folks,

Anyone gone private for an early scan? you can't get an early reassurance scan in my area but there is a company - healthcarenow ltd in Edinburgh - that offer early scans from 7-11 weeks for £55.

Anyone been for something similar or know of another route?

I am also having HcG levels done next week but I would like the reassurance of an early scan since I m/c at 8.5 weeks (discovered at 11wks) last time.

hey there! she mentionned she might go down with them to london but she should be back by now. hope all is ok!

chubskil - hope the A/N class went ok. good news? any sign of movement from little one - ready to go yet??

we have our 1st scan 2morro. nervous, excited - everything. it might sound stupid but i am really dreading the thought of the sonographer(?) touching my stomach.......

i have taken the whole day off work so i think i'll potter round the shops and fantasy shop - imagine all the things i am gonna buy..

GMM - how you feeling today? getting all set for the weekend? is yr DH pal from belfast over here - he going as well?

weeonion · 04/10/2006 22:59

hey chubski!!

we did indeed get a pic - u cant really see much on it but i cant stop myself frm looking at it!
dp was so sweet today. he was v nervous- shy bloke and hates those kind of hospital situations. when he saw the scan - face was a picture - in shock. i think thats when it all hit home - he even said "its really happening".

u sound on good form but i hope the coldstays away - maybe all the spicey curry has brought it on???!! make sure you wrap up warm. has yr nesting taken place or do u feel too big to do much else?
is yr dh all ready to go? how far do u have to travel to hospital??

chubszuki · 04/10/2006 23:18

aaaww your dh sounds soo nice, i dont think it seems real to them till they see it on a scan mine was the same bless em. yeh dh all ready every time i get up through the night, he's awake asking "is the chubsy coming now" and i say noooo just flicking heart burn we stay about 5min from hospital, less than a mile so no probs there. fingers crossed this cold dosnt come to anything. i was the same with my sacan pics, all in an album the last one i got pic from was sooo clear you could see babys face and a bubble he'd blown lol!! last scan i had no pic as he was so big it wasnt clear, i didnt mind just glad all was ok. enjoy tomorrows scan hope you get another pic xxx

Hi everyone,

Spent more than a week travelling around the UK. went to Edinbugh and up to the highlands as well then went down to London last weekend...was great fun, had a wonderful time..missing my sister already.

Anyway, phoned the hospital and already received the post. My first appointment will be on 27th Oct 07 ( My first scan as well ). Talked to a friend ( wife of my hushand's mate),...she said she also had only 1 scan when she gave birth about 3 years ago...she went to Yorkhill but she said shes told that Princess Royal is supposed to be good.

Well, i am feeling okay, was really good while my sister was here..i am still feeling very good now but still vomit occasionally..other than that..i am feeling fine.

How's everyone than? i need to read your messages to catch up what has been happening while i was away!!! good to be back really!!

Vio · 08/10/2006 22:09

mistyped... 27 Oct 06 not 07. So, weeonion whens your first apponitment with PRH then?

Vio · 08/10/2006 22:14

yeah, forgot to say thanks to Geordie & weeonion,...did go to places you 2 suggested. Also, i managed to find Primark, went to the one in Braehead...bought some clothes..very cheap..real bargin really. Thanks for that cos i wouldn't have known the shop if you didn't tell me.

..

weeonion · 09/10/2006 06:58

vio - good to have u back! i was getting worried about u!
i had my first appt last week at princess royal - i really badgered to get it. i have to say they were really nice. it took about 3 hours frm beginning to end - be prepared for long wait! had scan - wayhey and seen midwive. made my choices re whether i would attend just there or do shared care with gp. my gp has no midwives attached to it so decided to just go to princess royal. that way i get to know staff and maybe other mums-to-be due around my time (now 18th april)

glad to hear u had a good time with sis and hope u aint too to see her leave. big hug to you. xox

geordiemacminx · 09/10/2006 10:27

Saw your other thread about being down. Honestly, IMO its completely normal!!! I have burst into tears quite a few times over the past few weeks/months... common reasons are
-I'm fat and horrible and ugly and dp will leave me
-There is something wrong with the baby
-I wont be able to look after the baby as I've never even changed a nappy before
-I feel sick
I dont feel sick so therefore there must be something wrong
-x factor
-my toothbrush not working
-those horrible daddy long legs things.

if you want to email me at anytime then let me know...

Anjo1 · 09/10/2006 10:51

hello Ladies!! first post on the 'Tartan Army' thread !well since it turned into that , which is brilliant ! I was starting to think I was the only one out here !!, again another none scot moved here , originaly from Zimbabwe , DP is scottish so yet another one wondering what curious accent baba will have, I'm due 11/02/07 so getting closer and closer! though still feel sick and being sick at 22 weeks which is rubbish , I'm supposed to be blooming now !! ( I think that's all a con by the way ,this whole blooming business!!) did anyone else watch birth night last night ?
Hope you are all feeling well today and not worrying too much about everything like me
X

trixymalixy · 09/10/2006 13:21

Hi to Anjo, welcome to the tarten thread.

weonion, good on you for badgering them to give you an appointment! What did you think of the scan? amazing isn't it!

I manged to get food poisoning from a takeaway curry last week, will not be getting takeaway food again!!

Baby doing somersaults inside me really didn't help!!

Showed the DVD of my scan to my 22 month old niece at the weekend who said "look mummy, duck"!! Was hilarious.

Vio · 09/10/2006 14:55

Hi everyone, good day today so far. I am feeling v.good today. I do get emotional sometimes, i think i cried a few days ago...usually at night, just thinking..no sure if i can cope with the pressure, have never taken care of a baby in my life....worrying about whether the baby is growing fine...etc!!

Anyway, -weeonion- glad that you said PRM is good!! so did you wait for a long time? and the whole thing took 3 hrs then? I am very excited and nervous as well. I have read the material they sent me in the post...so then when will you get the result of the blood test? you mentioned about going to Edinburgh for a private scan, have you had it done already? how was it? everythings fine i hope!

Been driving every night, just want to be able to drive on my own ..( In Hong Kong, most people don't drive ) so i have never thought of driving a car...not sure if i am enjoying it but i think its certainly easier with a car. I want to be able to go whenever i want to so i have been busy practicing my driving skill with my husband everyday...managed to drive all the day to Braehead centre from where i live so i was very happy..) stil am.

chubszuki · 09/10/2006 20:11

liath · 09/10/2006 20:18

Hi everyone - glad to hear you had a good time with your sister, Vio. I had a friend to stay at the weekend from Down South who'd never been to Edinburgh before & she kept going on about how lovely it is !

Hope things get moving soon, Chubszuki! I remember time really dragging at that stage...I marched (or waddled) up Arthur's Seat in desperation on my due date to try to get things moving but dd still stayed put for another week.

Like the Tartan Army title! And how cool was the football result, beating France 1-0 - fan-bloody-tastic!

Anjo1 · 09/10/2006 20:48

hi everyone !
first baby so excited
though must say like you Vio I'm having wee moments of feeling a bit overwhelmed by the thought of it all, just thinking of the enormity of the whole experience, but then I remind myself that women have been having babies since humans were humans and it's one of the main things that our bodies and minds and psyches are primed to deal with and that makes me feel better
Chubszuki hope baby gets with the programme soon !lol the past 22 weeks have had their ups and downs but not any major problems so far ,more first timers enxiety really .I've started getting heart burn in the past week but Gaviscon seems to knock it right on the head , apart from tasting absolutely vile ,it's not too bad

Anjo1 · 09/10/2006 20:54

oh , I'm in Hamilton by the way , anyone else from around here ?

geordiemacminx · 10/10/2006 08:52

I'm in Uddingston Anjo, I think we may have spoken before?

Anjo1 · 10/10/2006 13:45

geordiemacminx- yes we did indeed , I think it was days after you'd found out you were preg and I was having a rant about the 20 week scan thing , how have you been keeping ? hope all is going well . we're both registered at Wishaw as well though I think our due dates are a fair bit apart , when are you due ?
