Hi folks,

Anyone gone private for an early scan? you can't get an early reassurance scan in my area but there is a company - healthcarenow ltd in Edinburgh - that offer early scans from 7-11 weeks for £55.

Anyone been for something similar or know of another route?

I am also having HcG levels done next week but I would like the reassurance of an early scan since I m/c at 8.5 weeks (discovered at 11wks) last time.

we have friends over from ireland - who dont know as yet. i have warned them that i wont be out in ususal party mode -- i think they r a bit miffed.
i also have the joys of finishing a 42 page funding application.... oh joy oh joy!!!!!!!!

geordiemacminx · 29/09/2006 10:54

Thats the only thing about living somewhere different from friends and family.. you spend your whole life travelling or with guests!! Is dp Irish too?
My family all live in the north east, dp is originally from liverpool but all his family live up past Dundee so we constantly seem to ve on the road....

42 page funding application.. that sounds impressive.. my boss has just told me to take it easy as I was sick this morning.. he doesnt realise that I never do anything but take things easy!!!

weeonion · 29/09/2006 11:11

dp in scottish - hence why we ended up here after belfast and london.......

we actually dont have another weekend to ourselves in the flat til the beg of nov. i threw a hissy fit aboutit few nights ago... tired of being cinderella while they all head out on the beers

funding application - v v boring and stressful. a load of waffle - i even shock myself at some of the crud i write!

geordiemacminx · 29/09/2006 11:56

Well there are worse places to be I suppose!!

Dont blame you about throwing a hissy fit - I am exactly the same!!! Got dp's family next week at some point then need to schedule a vist down south to tell dp's kids... should be amusing if nothing else!!!

Right I'm off now.. the morning has dragged like mad!!! Have a lovely weekend wo and everyone else in bonny scotland.

xxx

no-one knows but me & dp. kinda nice but v v hard. i think alot have guessed but nothing is official til the scans are over and we see what the score is. 2 scans this week- v v nervous now. dp is going to the hospital one but the nuchal one on thurs is in edinburgh, close to where i work. he cant make it through but i think we get a dvd. fingers crossed all is ok!

i havent bought anthing yet for the baby - being superstitious i guess. wil need to get into other clothes soon - i think i am piling the weight on at a degree too fast! eating like a horse - and all the stuff i would never touch like pasta, pizza and chocolate. its gonna be a hard job after the baby is born!

less than 2 week s- are you down on hands / knees practising?

trixymalixy · 01/10/2006 19:45

Hi everyone,

hope you have all had a nice weekend. Can't believe it is nearly over already .

gmm, glad your scan went well. It is so exciting seeing your baby isn't it! BTW what's a medical exemption card I haven't got one of those?

weeonion, yes I have watched the DVD of the scan about a million times and been boring people to death with it!! That's great that you have scans and your antenatal care card sorted out.

ja9 · 01/10/2006 20:32

hi weeonion, thanks for asking. not made up my mind about 3d scan. have 20 wk one tues week at stirling r.i. will wait and see how i feel after that. did i correctly pick up that u r irish with scottish dp? me too? where u from?

weeonion · 01/10/2006 20:51

hey ja9. i'm from northern ireland - kinda all over. we moved alot when i was growing up but i only left it 3 years ago!
what about you?

ja9 · 01/10/2006 20:54

from dundonald

weeonion · 01/10/2006 21:55

no way!!!!! my mum and dad live just outside Ards. i would say to folks that i am from belfast as that is where i lived the longest - well as an adult anyhow!
how long have you been over here? do you miss veda and tayto crisps ( the usual questions.........)

ja9 · 01/10/2006 22:06

do i miss veda?

does that answer your question?

i have one in freezer for emergencies!

ja9 · 01/10/2006 22:07

been here for 9 years. came here for uni, married a scot and got 'stuck' here!

weeonion · 01/10/2006 22:21

lol - i had a scroll through and it made me laugh..... i actually fininshed my last stock of veda last week (confession - ate the whole thing in 1 sitting )
my gran used to work in tayto castle in tandragee and we grew up for while under its shadow..

i am heading home in 2 weeks to break the baby news at home- will be restocking with veda, wheaten farls and soda bread. my god - that makes me sound about 60! have you told yr folks yet?
we seem to have northern irish visitors in a steady stream at the mo - a set out in the pub tonight and more arriving on thursday.

geordiemacminx · 02/10/2006 10:02

Hey this is th jockettes thread... no room for reminicissing about vespa or veda or whatever it is

Hope you are all well... I had a nice weekend, if tiring!!! Came back on Saturday to find decorating done, house cleaned and all the towels washed and hanging on the line.. what a little star my dp is!!!

Been tired over the weekend but not been sick which is nice, although it seems to be back this morning. Also anyone noticed that too tight bras make them feel worse... at this rate I'm going to be bra shopping every week.

Just managed to do my shopping online at work which is a bit of a bonus.... too tired and too sick to go to tescos!!!

WO... How was your weekend? Did you manage to keep your secret? I showed my pic to my grandma at the weekend... she cried!!!

weeonion · 02/10/2006 10:49

hey gmm - i didnt think you'd be back til today. that was a short visit.... glad you had a nice time but you must be knackered.
e managed to keep the secret over the weekend - it was a hard job tho- i felt like i had a strange form of preggy tourettes and kept wanting to just blurt out "I@M PREGNANT!"
i hid in a large fluffy dressing gown and pretended i was cold!!

my boobs seem to have taken on a life of their own - i cant keep track of what size they are. i have gobne from a 34b to a 34dd - at the last check. i actually do love them ( i used to be 44EE before i lost loads of weight!) - its nice to have bigger boobs back. dp is a bit stumped by them!

does yr dh come out for loan - i could do with a bit of decorating done. bless my dp - he is trying but the empathy aint too good.

nice to ave you bckand all chat of veda bread shall be keep to other threads! how about stovies chat or will that bring on ms??

geordiemacminx · 02/10/2006 11:01

I went on friday afternoon and came back saturday tea time - I love my mum very very much but any more than a day and we start to get on each other's nerves. She's gone into fussy granny mode..wouldnt let me do anything!! I got into trouble because my pj bottoms were too long... I could trip apparently..

Pretty tired now mind and I have afull week at work with no half days which is RUBBISH!!

Bles him I should pimp him out. I was extra nice to him yesterday, even allowed him to sleep on the sofa for 3 hours while I caught up with lost!! Normally I'd poke him and such like.

Unfortunatley the cat seems to have a few strands of lilac on his tail now.. but hey at least he matches!!

Actually I've just managed to have a bacon and egg roll from the greasy van at the end of the road. Has just hit the spot nicely!!!

Dp's mates are from belfast I think, one of them still lives over there, the other lives in Newton Mearns. We're off to the casino with them on Saturday night hopefully.. then next week off down south to tell the kids about their new brother/sister

weeonion · 02/10/2006 11:17

i know what you mean about mums. love mine dearly but - we dontalways see eye to eye. love it when she visits me - i can do the whole - "when yr in my house u live by my rules" mode. [wink. i know she will be over the moon but if she starts the whole fussing malarkey - that'll make me stressed! my dad is pretty mellow but dp & i are betting he starts to cry when he hears the news.

do you have any idea how dp's kids will be about it? i think i done a post on the other april thread about it?

u off to casino - making the fortune for a gold plated cot??????

on the boobs issue - r u still in underwired. i nearly LOL when i saw some of the maternity ones! we r preggy not geriatric. i might mitch off this afternoon as i have my funding application done and check out some......

geordiemacminx · 02/10/2006 11:35

I think the kids will be pleased.. DD is 15 so will relish in dressing it up and such like.. ds is 12 and probabaly wont be very bothered at all.. if its not arsenal then he aint interested!! I think the ex might try and fill their heads with rubbish mind you but thats to be expected - she's extremely bitter and twisted!!

I'm mainly in underwireds still - although I have found a great range of bras by gossard that are a lot softer... cant find them on debenhams site but they come in a range of colours and feel like they are made out of the same stuff as wet suits? No seams and are dead comfy!!! I bought some before I found out and have just bought some more. Have a couple of sports type bras too which I think I am going to start wearing for bed which should be a laugh... I keep catching my n*pples when I turn over and they are soooooooo sore!!!

Apparently its Newtonards that dp's mate is from.
