Hi folks,

Anyone gone private for an early scan? you can't get an early reassurance scan in my area but there is a company - healthcarenow ltd in Edinburgh - that offer early scans from 7-11 weeks for £55.

Anyone been for something similar or know of another route?

I am also having HcG levels done next week but I would like the reassurance of an early scan since I m/c at 8.5 weeks (discovered at 11wks) last time.

Its been a bit of a stress really... just cos its bloody xmas..." well we can fit you in at 2.30 or 10.30" "its a set menu which comprises of cabbage eels and liver" "we require a £700 deposit just to let you speak to a waitress" ok... rant over now, table is booked anyways, and once I heard from all you lovely ladies I will pay deposit.

sweetkitty · 23/11/2006 14:53

hi preggie tartanites, was going to join your thread then realised you are all pregnant am getting broody reading your thread then though "what am I on about I hate being pregnant!"

I'll introduce myself anyway, I'm 31 live in Motherwell with DD1 whos 2.4yo and DD2 who's 11 months. DD1 was born in London (we moved back about a year and a bit ago) DD2 was born at home. I had a 4d scan at Babyscanning in Glasgow with DD2 when she was 25 weeks, it was amazing and it actually does look like her (if that makes any sense). I cannot believe Wishaw General only gives you one scan. I had my 12 week and 20 weeks ones in Ayrshire (where we are originally from and were living temporarily) although they don't do nuchal fold (had that with DD1).

I'm glad we are back in Scotland (apart from the rain forgot it hardly stops for about 4 months in Winter) but don't really know anyone up here yet. I do feel for those of you heavily pregnant over the Christmas period cannot believe it was me last year and now she is crawling about the floor creating havoc, a years gone by so quickly.

liath · 23/11/2006 15:00

Hi Sweetkitty - I'm sure you can still join in without a bump!!

I don't think I'll be able to make the Xmas meet I'm afraid as I work on a friday so it'd make it a bit fraught trying to get through to Weegie-land. Sorry . I'll have to drag you all though to Edinburgh sometime!

geordiemacminx · 23/11/2006 15:05

Nice to meet you kitty..

Just cos you not up the duff doesnt mean that you cant join us!! I'm in Uddingston, Anjo is in Hamilton, Weeonion is in Dennistoun. To be honest I think we are all pretty much in the same boat, as in not knowing anyone, I'm originally from Newcastle, Anjo is from Zimbabwae and Weeonion is from N Ireland. We have our first meet up a few weeks ago and are hoping to make it a regular thing, if you would like to join us at any time feel free... as long as you dont want to get all broody!!

I work f/t at the moment but come April I'll be on maternity so will be around a lot more. I used to work in Motherwell actually, at the BT building on Craig street?

Right enough waffling from me. Take care

sweetkitty · 23/11/2006 15:15

thanks for the welcome

speaking of being broody I would never say never again but when I think of the SPD, heartburn, feeling the size of a whale, being battered in the ribs every night, insomnia, labour, the early days and the sleep deprivation (DD2 still doesn't sleep through) I remember why I was so miserable being pregnant but I still feel a bit of you all.

Then thinking having one tiny newborn was hard work ha piece of cake compared to a 2 year old potty training and a 10 month old crawling.

I'll keep an eye on your thread then probably can't make it to a night out in December but would like to in the future oh and if theres anything you want to ask an old hand (although I look at them now and think they can't be mine I'm not responsible enough to be a mum of 2).....

sweetkitty · 23/11/2006 15:17

oh forgot to add Glasgow Pram Centre is fab, I've got my last two prams for there (the doubles)

thing is whatever pram/buggy you end up getting you will end up buying something else lighter/nicer/more compact/just because you can I spent months agonising over my first pram had it 8 weeks and bought a lightweight buggy

Anjo1 · 23/11/2006 16:19

cabbage eels and liver , yummy , my favourites -well done for getting the table GMM , good job!
welcome Sweetkitty
don't scare me , you mean they are'nt just sweet and cuddly and cute all of the time , lol !!!
I do have my moments of thinking , "what do I think I'm doing , me ? a mother ? "
I guess it's true what they say , no-one is ever really ready for it

geordiemacminx · 23/11/2006 16:22

Great, once I have recieved confirmation that 8.30 is ok with Vio I will pay deposit. Thought we could all meet a bit earlier, have some drinks then head up to Sartis, fill our faces and bumps.. and by then no doubt we will be ready for beddy bys!!

[email protected] - there we go for my email!!

sweetkitty · 23/11/2006 17:32

This weather is great isn't it? We've been holed up here all day quietly going mad.

Seriously though anjo it's great fun I didn't find the first year that great I think I'm more of a toddler person than a newborn one, newborns are easy, eat, poo and sleep (well not always the sleep) I've got to convince DD1 to eat some of her dinner tonight as all she asks for is ice cream.

I'm so of you all I may have to go and do it all again

Vio · 23/11/2006 23:24

hi geordie, yes, i am okay...if you dont mind paying the deposit then i will pay you back when i see you. thanks!..;)

geordiemacminx · 24/11/2006 09:31

Chooster · 24/11/2006 13:27

Hi - can I pop on here to say hello to you lovely ladies! I'm 6 weeks PG and already have 1 DS who is 2.6 yrs. I'm originally from Newcastle, but lived in London for years until moving up to Edinburgh in 2004 (when 7 months PG with DS - needless to say my DH did all the moving bit - I just stayed with the sofa

Anyway, I'm waffling - just wanted to say hi and it would be great if I can come along to one of your meet-ups - Do I have to do anything to be in your gang?

geordiemacminx · 24/11/2006 13:39

Ha another geordie - how great is that??

The only stipulation of being in our gang is that it helps if you arent actually scottish!!!

Where abouts in newcastle were you from?

We having a meal out in Glasgow on the 8th if you fancy it?

Chooster · 24/11/2006 14:25

A-ha - I can join then as not Scottish! Phew - at least there wasn't any wierd initiation

Geordie - I was born in Hebburn, then lived in Denton Burn, then in Ponteland then we started moving (Dad's job meant we moved every 2 yrs). Sadly can't make the 8th as am in London that weekend, but would love to pop along to any others

geordiemacminx · 24/11/2006 14:35

Weeonion, Vio, Anjo and I arent scottish either.. I'm originally from Chester-le-street, but my dads family all live around the Blaydon area.

Thanks Geordie! and hello to everyone!

going down to Manchester tomorrow.

Hope you all will have a lovely weekend!

Anjo1 · 27/11/2006 14:29

hello ladies ! nice weekends alround ?hope so , I've bought a Pram ! hoorah !!went to the Glasgow Pram Center- they are really good in there , recommend it to everyone !
got a Silvercross one which is slightly bigger than what I had in mind but it ticks all other boxes so had to compromise .
was watching the news on telly this morning and they were talking about the 20 week scan thing and how it's a scandal that pregnant ladies in some areas of scotland are still being deprived of what the NHS watch dog said 3 years ago should be everyone's right - at least they are still talking about it , they's hope yet that they might come to their senses soon.
Vio-how was Manchester ? hope you had a good time

Vio · 27/11/2006 14:43

hiya, hope everyone had a nice weekend. anjo, glad that you have finally bought a pram which suits your & your baby's needs. yes, watched telly and feel that we are not being treated fairly...well, hopefully, every pg woman in scotland will get the 2nd scan soon!

Had a lovely weekend in Manchester..weather was nice & warm yesterday...went to a friend's baby son's christening, it was good...
