Hi folks,

Anyone gone private for an early scan? you can't get an early reassurance scan in my area but there is a company - healthcarenow ltd in Edinburgh - that offer early scans from 7-11 weeks for £55.

Anyone been for something similar or know of another route?

I am also having HcG levels done next week but I would like the reassurance of an early scan since I m/c at 8.5 weeks (discovered at 11wks) last time.

Wel as long as you've got a blanket and a dungaree set - you'll be fine!!!

The glasgow pram centre is supposed to be good for prams... and they price match?

Anjo1 · 13/11/2006 10:14

yeah what else does a baby need other than a blanket and a dungaree set ?
I think I know the pram that I want I'm going to check on-line reviews and compare a few before I go .
DP's mum and I are planning on going to the Pram center this coming weekend.

geordiemacminx · 13/11/2006 10:18

I wish I knew the difference between 3in1 and 2in1 and travel systems and all the other things tht they seem to have... saw a nice one yesterday in M&P's... had a lok online when I got home - £545!!! WHATS THAT ALL ABOUT???

Anjo1 · 13/11/2006 11:23

I know , it's a bit mad , it's like buying a car the complexities of it all , and the prices are insane , I've seen a few this morning though that seem really good and they are all under £400
Are you buying yours yourself ?
DPs parents are insisting on buying ours -so now let's see what's the top of the range one ..?

geordiemacminx · 13/11/2006 11:31

mum is buying mine, which is lovely but means I am consciuos of the price... even though she has said she wants her forst grandchild to have the best!!! meant to say yesterday.. email address is firstname [email protected] no spaces? Does that make sense?

Anjo1 · 13/11/2006 11:43

I know what you mean , I'm the same , I'd feel really guilty if I picked a really expensive one.
e-mail address makes sense , I wont write mine on here as Id have to write my full name ( security and all that )
I'll pop an e-mail to you

Vio · 13/11/2006 12:22

hi all, was nice meeting you all yesterday...

yes, got home ok...thanks!

We have been looking for a pram as well and we are getting it ourselves DH and I went to Mamas and Papas in Glasgow fort last weekend then they advised us to order a catalogue online and think carefully what type of pram we want..got a catalogue now but it still seems confusing..not sure whats best to buy really and the good ones aren't cheap!

Anjo1 · 13/11/2006 13:11

hi Vio !
I've spent all this morning online and i've managed to narrow it down to 3.I decided to base the choices on what I want :rear facing , one hand steerage , how big it is , does it have a fold flat position for when the baby is new ? etc.. is it 3 in one ? (car seat , changes to a pushchair for later and top lifts off as a carrycot) then I'm going to the Glasgow pram centre to try them all and decide which one to get.hopefully i will like one and that will be the end of this Pram headache !!

weeonion · 17/11/2006 21:43

weeonion · 20/11/2006 12:16

did i tell you that my aunt found a brand new M&P travel system in boxes in her attic. must have been left by previous owners last year. guess who's wanting it! they are sooooooooooo expensive - over £400!!

geordiemacminx · 20/11/2006 13:41

Thats so lucky.. on a similar note my cousin has just got a part time job at Mamas and Papas... staff dicount I hope!!!!!

Felt something this morning... almost like a mucle "twinge"... little one or not do you think??

Anjo1 · 20/11/2006 14:32

hello all !!
how are we all doing ? hope all is well
just been to Yoga feeling good , but my ears are sore from the wind trying to blow me away on the way back .
GMM-oooh exciting!! might be baby , if it felt like nothing you've ever felt before I'd say it's your little one wriggling about
Weeonion-your Aunt's attic find -what a stroke of luck !they do cost a fortune !
Hope you don't get soaked again x
Vio-great news about your bloodtest result , v.pleased for you , one less thing to worry about x
We've managed to sell our Flat YAY!! so no more property blues and living in a show home !
hope everyone is doing well

geordiemacminx · 20/11/2006 15:34

Hey lady - pleased you enjoyed your yoga, where is it on at? I have been looking for something similar for a while but everything seems to be on during the day. Just been to see the midwife, apparently there is a aqua natal class up at Coatbridge o a night so I might look into that.

How horrible is the weather at the moment?? Just got back from midwife in time without being soaked, now tucked up in the house, heating on with a nice cup of tea and a hugeeeeeeeee apple turn over courtesy of Sainsburys!!!

Really pleased about getting the flat sold, you'll have to let us know when the house warming is agt the other end!!!

Anjo1 · 20/11/2006 15:59

Apple Turnover -sounds yummy !! all go well at the midwife's ?
the Yoga class I go to is at Hamilton Water Palace I'm not sure but i think they do evening classes as well , might be worth giving them a call - it's not specifically pregnancy Yoga but the instructor who takes my class is really good and makes sure that I don't do anything i should'nt , gave me some reading material the first time i went -his name is Colin if you want to see if he does evening classes .
I've got the midwife tomorrow and -so pleased!!-it's not the one i've been seeing all along , you know the one i absolutley hate ,I've got a new one !!woohoo!! honestly she can't be any worse than the one i had ,( probably should wait till tomorrow when i might be forced to eat my words !)
house warming might have to beHouse Warming/ Meet The Baby /DP's 30th Birthday/as it's all happening in February , we don't get to move in until 25th of january (two weeks before EDD), talk about cutting it all a bit fine !!

geordiemacminx · 20/11/2006 16:28

Yep no problems at all, was only in 20 minutes - was gonna say it was a bit of a waste of half a day off work but it soooo wasnt!!!

Will give the place in Hamilton and Coatbridge a fone and see what they say as I'm strating to feel a bit better I might aswell do something a bit more energetic than watching tv!!!

Maybe your new midwife is your old midwifes' evil twin sister...ha ha ha ha

Party sounds good, although I will be huge by then!!!

Right must dash, gonna have to try and tidy round a bit so it actually looks like I have done something with my afternoon off rather than watch tv and eat cakes..

Oh btw how did you get on at the Pram Centre?

Anjo1 · 20/11/2006 18:19

ach , away - afternoons off are for eating cake and watching tv -everybody knows that
evil twin -no way , there can't be two of them !!
Didn't go to the Pram centre this weekend , DP's mum could'nt make it so we're going this weekend instead
about aquanatal -Blantyre also does a class on Thursdays between 6 and 7 - at least you've got a choice now

weeonion · 20/11/2006 20:41

GMM - hope the cakes were yum! the pram centre is just off the gallowgate. it might be easiest to take the M8, exit junction 15, head down to the right for high street (the tollbooth). after the hospital, the cathedral, st mungos all on the left aim straight down the hill. go through 3 sets of traffic lights and aim up to the left to the barras / barrowlands. the pram centre is off to the left hand side, opposite the fire station.
hope that helps babe

geordiemacminx · 21/11/2006 08:49

WO - I asked how she got on.. not how to get there!!! But thanks for that anyways

Anjo - will investigate evening classes... would you be intersted in coming too if I cam and got you?

weeonion · 21/11/2006 12:23

doh - serves me right for skim reading!
it was grand - an experience actually! didnt realise it at the time but dp got all teary and emotional inside - in a good way. he said it really choked him up and whilst he expected to want to run for the hills at the sight of it all- instead he went all gooey. bless

i have to admit the prices are scary - i can tax and insure the car for a year for alot less!! the nursery bit is beaut. i WANT a recliner chair!

hope you are all well. sun has come out! xoxoox

geordiemacminx · 21/11/2006 13:18

I'll let you off... yep we thinking about going there soon too... just to get an idea of stuff. I have to admit I like the Next nursery stuff and it seems a lot cheaper than M&P.. Also I know exactly which recliner chair you are talking about - they are selling them on ebay for between £85 and £120, I'm gonna get one too, although mum asked if I would like her to buy it for my birthday - AS IF!!! Birthdays are for clothes and make up and nice things for me!!!!

Anjo1 · 21/11/2006 14:52

yay it's finally stopped raining !!
GMM- would have loved to go to the aquanatal classes but, see the problem with Aquanatal classes for me is , embarassingly, I can't swim , I know it's not really swimming but I am just so unsure of myself in water I'd be scared of making an arse of myself
Is it the Glider chair you want wee onion ?

geordiemacminx · 21/11/2006 14:57

Today is going soooooooo slowly!!! I so cant be bothered!!!

Awh bless you Anjo!!! I have done aqua aerobics before, you only have to go in the water up to your tummy, having said that its easy for me to say "only"... have you thought about taking lessons? One of the guys I work with couldnt swim either and he has been taking adult lessons in Hamilton somewhere?
