ok, so got a bfp on thursday morning and Im shitting myself (not literally, obviously) theres no real reason for me to, i have no pains/backache/niggles the way i have done with ALL of my mc's. i feel sick and tired (god, how I love that feeling - every retch makes me smile) and my hair is glorious, tummy v bloated and glamour-girl breats (as when pg with ds) but i am aware that tomorrow I dont call the gp to arrange to see the mw, instead I call the clinic to arrange a scan. Im not allowed to lift a thing, in fact im surprised dh hasnt banned me from breathing tbh im so grateful to be up-duffed, especially since we have just been turned down for IVF and were on last cycle of clomid, but i feel a tiny bit bitter that i cant enjoy it and am unable to relax and/or start telling people.

i want to shriek "I'm pregnant (love typing that) I'm not barren, dont have shitty eggs" but i cant because we are so far from the end of the tunnel that the light is just a speck.

please god, let this one stick.

Hurray for sticky thoughts!
Can I suggest the half eaten jam on toast that I've just found stuck to the sofa from DS breakfast as tomorrow's sticky thought [yuk]!
Could you not get a scan earlier lissie?

My offer is still good y'know

OracleInaCoracle · 08/09/2009 20:14

aw yorky, thank you so much. I may be taking you up on it. not so bad at the mo because dh is at home, but he is doing a short college course until jan so will be unable to look after ds while i stew in my bed rest.

they cant scan me earlier (unless needed) because they want to be sure of seeing a heartbeat etc, its really a reassurance scan, and need to do it in mc clinic as mc cons will be doing all my antenatal care. it was the 2nd, but we are still on hols then.

shall say again MY antenatal care

Yes hopefully you'll vomit on till then and get a good pic of all doing well. I can see that in the absence of evidence for concern an earlier scan isn't very helpful. It's so hard to see things sometimes and what is seen can mean something or nothing - just ups the stress really. (If that were possible!)

OracleInaCoracle · 08/09/2009 20:47

exactly, when i was pg with ds i had a scan at what i thought was 7w, mw saw a 5w embryo. that meant i got a bfp at 7dpo. however, everything happened 2w ahead of time, ds was born looking like he was overdue (was a week early by their dates) it just stressed me out even more!

Great news!! Fingers crossed for you.

I couldn't relax in my pregnancies either due to having had 3 mc's. I had to use hynotherapy just to try and not get stressed- it did help abit.

Fantastic news Lissie!!! I've only had two mcs and I've been bricking it all throughout my current pregnancy, I'm only now starting to relax at 24 weeks so lots of hand holding from me!

PacificDogwood · 08/09/2009 22:03

You sound so happy and excited, lissielou, which is just lovely.
Reassurance scans are great, they DO reassure and there is some evidence out there that well monitored and supported woman do better than woman who receive normal care after recurring MCs.
I love the idea of sticky thought of the day .
Hope everything continues really well.

Yorky · 08/09/2009 22:03

Good idea Dustin, I have a pregnancy relaxation CD somewhere Lissie if you think it would be useful

Thandeka · 09/09/2009 08:55

Today's sticky vibe:

A toddler who has been left unsupervised with a pot of chocolate mousse and a marsbar.

Comma2 · 09/09/2009 13:52

Congratulations Lissy! Your being so excited and happy reminds me through all the third-trimester pregnancy misery of how wonderful this really is. All the best to you and adding my dd's pancake-syrup-in-cardboard-book stickiness to your little bean.

memorylapse · 09/09/2009 14:14

Congrats Lissie..I know how difficult it is to relax when you have lost lo's before..Im currently 5+4 and have had miscarriages and stillbirths before so everyday is a milestone...Ive got a scan booked next monday as they thought I had an ectopic and scanned last friday..of course all they saw was a sac..cue: more worry..but HCG going up..has gone from 1750 last friday to 6300 yesterday so fingers crossed..yesterday the nausea kicked in..Ive never been so pleased to see morning sickness arrive

sending lots of sticky vibes

OracleInaCoracle · 09/09/2009 14:58

OracleInaCoracle · 09/09/2009 15:22

Very sad for you, sending e-Hugs to you xx

LuluMaman · 09/09/2009 15:28

oh god lissie. it is so unfair. if your temp is up and you almost fainted you must get seen, could be infection.

OracleInaCoracle · 09/09/2009 15:31

i think it is lulu, im not convinced that the GBS from ds's birth isnt to blame, but everytime i mention it to cons they dismiss it. am really not well today, feel very sick and dizzy.

Penthesileia · 09/09/2009 15:34
