I know this is a silly question but I am pregnant for the second time and want to be able to refer to the bump/baby as something other than bump/baby. for the first one we called it blobby for the 9 months, it worked quite well but blobby was born with a heart defect and had open heart surgery when 7mths, so now I am paranoid about calling this one blobby in case the worst happens. All very silly really but wanted some help to call it something! Thanks

Called mine Matilda Jane cos its a generic family name in our family. Mammy called all of us Matilda when we were born until she had names for us. No idea why at all. She still refers to us all as Matilda when she cant think of names (including my brother) .

redsky · 12/05/2005 16:13

ds called my bump snowbubble {grin}

Kelly1978 · 12/05/2005 16:18

after reading about celebrities and the daft (IMO) names they are giving to their kids, in particular Gwyneth paltrow and Apple, we were sounding out diff foodstuffs as a name for our bump. We settled on Paneer (Indian cheese) then when we found out we were expecting twins, the second became Muttar (peas). They are now 7 weeks old and still get called paneer and muttar sometimes!

Newbarnsleygirl · 12/05/2005 16:21

My mum called mine bean but we specifically had a scan to find out the sex. When we did we picked a name and we called the bump dd's real name.

flum · 12/05/2005 16:22

my mum calls all babies Fred from conception to about the age of 1. it is quite odd

Louise1980 · 12/05/2005 16:23

When I was pg with ds1 my brother nicknemed my bump Dave. It stuck and 'baby Dave' was 4mths old when my mrother mil discovered he was calle Ellis!

DS2 was called baby Lauren as thats what ds1 called it. I got my hopes up that he was right but he was a boy called Cory.

Maddison · 12/05/2005 16:27

My DH's cousins son nicknamed DS Sherbert and that stuck as we didn't know the sex.

Am due tomorrow with DS2 and called him pod until we had decided on the name (which is Bailey btw)

TeriS · 12/05/2005 16:29

My friend called her bump bambino, which I thought was cute...

KBear · 12/05/2005 16:29

First baby was Norman (dunno how that started and he turned out to be a she) and second baby was Baby Two!

18mumtobe · 12/05/2005 17:11

well i know the sex of my baby so im not much help really as we call him his real name.

but how about BUN (as in bun in the oven)
or i think CHICK is quite cute.

Miaou · 12/05/2005 17:19

My granny referred her bump (my mum) as "Lionel"

My SIL called hers Muffin which I thought was cute.

My bump was christened "Thumbelina" by my dds when it was the size of their thumbs - it's an awful lot bigger than that now but it has stuck! (They experimented with "Appleina" and "Orangina" at various stages too but still call it Thumbelina!)

MarsLady · 12/05/2005 17:21

itsy!

hamster · 12/05/2005 17:24

our first was "Babberoo"

We still refer to this one as "the baby" at the mo (15wks) no doubt we will come up with something a little more original soon!

bambino1 · 12/05/2005 19:45

My partner and I called our bump Bambino too hence my mumsnet name!!

dizzymama · 12/05/2005 22:25

Dd was 'Bob', mainly because my hubby really wanted to say the line 'You're not at all a girl then Bob?' when she was born!!

Nemo1977 · 12/05/2005 22:26

this one is yet to be named.

My friend called her bump diddi which was cute
