I know this is a silly question but I am pregnant for the second time and want to be able to refer to the bump/baby as something other than bump/baby. for the first one we called it blobby for the 9 months, it worked quite well but blobby was born with a heart defect and had open heart surgery when 7mths, so now I am paranoid about calling this one blobby in case the worst happens. All very silly really but wanted some help to call it something! Thanks

We called ours 'bubbit' or 'bubs' - not sure where it came from but used it with all 3.

expatinscotland · 12/05/2005 22:28

we call ours BK - for 'Baby'+the first letter of our surname

Frizbe · 12/05/2005 22:29

Slave2Babe · 12/05/2005 22:30

eidsvold · 12/05/2005 22:43

bobbybob · 13/05/2005 04:50

I come from the north of England and so called the bump "our kid".

starshaker · 13/05/2005 07:28

she was just bumps still call her it sometimes

flamesparrow · 13/05/2005 07:55

Ours was called grape, because at the time I named her, she was the size of a grape!

kikidee · 13/05/2005 07:59

Mine was Jimmy Floyd as in Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink the footaller. DH named it as we were both convinved it was a boy and it was a name he liked. It was a boy - but we didn't call him Jimmy Floyd!

elsmommy · 13/05/2005 08:07

Dp called my bump shorty and he still calls dd shorty now

dramaqueen72 · 13/05/2005 09:13

my american frined referred to mine as belly bean and belly bean has stuck, sometimes getting shortened to beanie!
dd1 was 'pumpkin', alittle freaky when my waters with her broke at midnight.... we should have called her cinderella!

Cadbury · 13/05/2005 09:24

We called my first "babble" until she was born and then it became Hannah- Babble. Her 1 yaer old brother calls her babble now. When I was expecting ds, we called him wriggler as it didn't seem right to call him babble as well but after he was born he became Samuel-babble. A lot of our friends and family call the kids "babble" too.

logic · 13/05/2005 09:27

Ds was "Spud" because FIL thought he looked like a King Edward potato on the scan. This one is called "Thumper" because of the incessant kicking. I know what you mean though, you have to call it something and 'Oy you, get out of my uterus!' is a bit long.

biglips · 13/05/2005 09:29

i called it "it" as didnt know whether it was a boy or girl (surprise one) but after baba was born i called her "it" twice by accident !!!

PotPourri · 13/05/2005 09:36

I called DD 'wee baby', DH called her 'little blighter'. Got a friend who called hers bean, and still does to this day, even though she has a real name!

Tommy · 13/05/2005 09:43

DS1 was Bobby the Bump and DS2 was Lionel (!) because DS1 at the time was sayin "Lydel" all the time and we thought it sounded like Lionel. Some people actually thought we were going to call the baby Lionel

MandM · 13/05/2005 10:55

'Little Chicken', not sure why really but everyone thought it was really cute. We used to sign cards etc, from G, M & Little Chicken! Have just decided to start trying for No 2, not even conceived yet and are already talking about 'Little Chicken', so looks like it has become a new family tradition already!

Piccalilli · 13/05/2005 11:24

Dh calls ours 'junior' - which for some reason always makes me think it's a boy..

beansmum · 13/05/2005 11:26

mine was bean, ds is nearly 1 now and still called bean, poor kid.

rodeo1 · 13/05/2005 12:24

What a cute thread! Our's is just 'the bubs' or 'the little one', my SIL called hers 'Miffy' which I thought was v.cute!

thebump · 13/05/2005 12:32

Ours was "little sausage" until we found out we were having a little girl. Now at 26 weeks shes "little lady" or "Baby-Belle" (we've decided to name her Isabelle - Can't help giggling when the cheese advert comes on...)

BarbaraX · 13/05/2005 12:33

I called mine chop chop and later choppy choppy,

I could not wait to meet her.

And I had a very quick labour so very appropriate

Surfermum · 13/05/2005 12:39

DD was "Peanut" because that's what she looked like on her very first scan.

mrsflowerpot · 13/05/2005 12:43

DS was Plus One, so this one is Plus Two.

Joseyjo · 13/05/2005 15:12

mine gets called baby - v v dull. my sister called her dh colgate!! apparently there was a craze in the states for calling babies after bathroom products and as they didn't know the sex, they had to go for a neutral one (ie not Lynx or pantene!!!). it didn't stick once he was born though - strangely enough
