Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

all this talk of tonight may be what's making me feel sick just hope it's not the lurgey finally caught up with me as DH is working long hours for the rest of the week! (though it could be the speed waddle I did earlier to collect DS1 from pre-school - or labour? Nahhhh - no such luck)

jw - I was hoping to get away with not broadcasting it too much I'm sure I will point and laugh too though

Bonzo - sorry - I missed it too hope your mum recovers quickly. Last thing you need at the mo is worry. Good that your sister is there though.

Neddie PMSL at the imagery of your mum wiht her boobs in the sink (sorry- it must have been so painful!!) your recipe sounds delicious! Wish i'd looked earlier as I've just put a huge casserole on as I couldn't think what to do with the chicken I defrosted earlier

Tee - sounds like Adam's doing really well - I'm so pleased for you. Make sure you take care of yourself though too! You wont have the chance to rest once he comes home

johnworf · 16/06/2009 18:22

tee just saw the video taken by your DH by the sounds of it! LOL. Aren't men funny? Baby looks well and the sounds in the background of SCBU brought back a lot of memories for me. Still, he's a big lad and I'm sure that even if he loses a bit of weight, he won't come to any harm although he sounds like he's tolerating the milk through his tube well

You need to look after yourself woman! Resting you must do (in her best Yoda voice). You're a milk factory now and you need to eat well, drink lots, and put your feet up. So you've been told Hope your DH is doing his best running around for you as well.

When K was in her incubator, I bought her a little teddy that I used to put down my top/bra so that it got my smell on it for when I wasn't there, then she'd know her mummy's smell when I came back and held her.

Tee2072 · 16/06/2009 18:40

JW they won't let me put any stuffed animals in with him. Partly because his belly button line is very susceptible to infection and party because their germ paranoia is reaching new heights all the time, IMHO. I mean, I know he is vulnerable but the fact that his grandparents can come look at him but not touch him, no matter how well they scrub? A bit over the top, IMHO. Also? Grandparents can only come on weekends.

Anyway, hopefully I'll be able to hold him and feed him tomorrow!

johnworf · 16/06/2009 19:04

tee we were told not to wear long sleeved tops and scrub up to the elbows, which we did. I didn't let anyone but K's siblings see her though as I couldn't risk infection. Not just to her, but to any of the other babies on the unit. Sounds harsh but you have to weigh it up. We were allowed one teddy which was to be washed every 4 days. I can understand when he's got the long line in that they're a bit wary though. You don't want him getting something nasty. Are you allowed to put a breast pad with your milk in there? Anything with your smell on it? It's important they get to know your smell.....ask them. Don't forget you get a say in your son's welfare too

ermintrude13 · 16/06/2009 19:06

Tee he is such a cutie. Odd about the house rules though - when my niece was in SCBU she could have 3 visitors at any time and once she was in the open incubator touching was positively encouraged - they said the place was so sterile that it was very safe. That was at Guy's and St Thomas in London; maybe it's all down to hospital policy and new health scares. Well done with the milking (!) and hope you get some rest tonight.

JW odd that you mention Yoda - Neddie's first sentence in her most recent post is also Yoda-like. Is this thread full of both Trekkies and Star Wars freaks????

Neddie your poor mother having to lob her waps under the tap . No really, it's not funny . I hope she works it up into a good story to tell her friends .

iris you can't fight it, you're going to be a famous TV star and there ain't nuffink you can do about it.

Tee2072 · 16/06/2009 19:18

Oh I do understand their reasoning JW. Especially with his belly button line. I will ask about the smell thing.

johnworf · 16/06/2009 19:25

Freak??????? I'm a avid fan. Not a freak, my dear.

shuffles up closer to tee and looks for solidarity

Tee2072 · 16/06/2009 19:36

I too am at the freak label!

Come sit next to me JW. We'll discuss pointy ears and Jean Luc Picard's love life. Have you seen the new movie?

iris66 · 16/06/2009 20:02

agggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - it's on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

johnworf · 16/06/2009 20:13

Not yet tee. I was promised it online but DH put the kybosh on it I might get to see it on my b'day in 2 weeks!!!!!

oooooooooooooooooooohhhhh Jean Luc is my other husband If only. Sigh.

iris I think I saw you. Hidden behind a small sardine Oh, wait. No. Not you. But I'm watching..........

jeanjeannie · 16/06/2009 20:23

Star trek...oh dear!! Although when I first mentioned this thread to DP and he saw everyones' moniker he asked if johnworf was a cling on.... Oh....I think tee and jw are off to hold hands skipping in a meadow and lace daisies into each others hair

tee take it easy - please! I had to put a small little swaddling blanket down my top and then give it Iris so she got used to my smell. Adam is simply GORGEOUS....just a fine, fine looking lad

erm sorry about the accidental turde - every day I write it and everyday I correct it - sorry, must have slipped through

bonzo pleased to hear your mum is managing ok and that's good you're so close by.

neddie lol@ mother's ample breasts being dangled in cold water after an unfortunate encounter with the SOuthern Fried Fat I am so going to try that - I've got chicken defrosting for tomorrow and I was going to do breaded chicken - but I think i may push the boat out and add a little ZING!!

Poor dp is sat with Iris - who is on her potty wanting to do a poo but just keeps farting and then shouting...FART! FART! Still got one eye out for iris and seeing her running after the canapes

jeanjeannie · 16/06/2009 20:28

Oooo OOooo, I recognise that first dish from the pics

johnworf · 16/06/2009 20:32

OOOOH jj did he really ask if I was a Klingon? You know what that means? He's one of us i.e. freak

I'm still looking for iris....coooeeeee

Fart!

iris66 · 16/06/2009 20:38

OMG I ate deep fried effing bone marrow!!

johnworf · 16/06/2009 20:48

ya liked it dint ya? It's probably some northern delicacy

johnworf · 16/06/2009 20:52

DH gave me a clue re the b'day present he's got me; it's something that I have wanted, have good reviews and we can all use (why we all have to use my present I don't know). It's a ped egg. I know it's a frickin' ped egg!!!!!!!!!!! AAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

Better not be.

iris66 · 16/06/2009 20:54

'twas nice ...until I knew what it was

DH assures me that there is no hotpot in ration packs

Have got empty ice-cream pot as souvenir

(can you tell I'm relaxing as we've not been filmed

jj did Iris have a poo in the end or was it all just farts?

jeanjeannie · 16/06/2009 20:59

Ah iris I bet you had a lovely glossy coat afterwards and a sparkly wet nose! Isn't bone marrow what dogs go wild for?!!

jw Oh yes, DP could easily be a freak infact he sends this message... "neH 'op yuch [Darling]"

jeanjeannie · 16/06/2009 21:03

iris I didn't spot you I'm afraid....nice firworks at the end! AND an ice cream pot souvenir...cor...!

jw I have a ped egg from DP...AND from my mother! My hard skin is legendary but now it's a thing of the past. OOooo, i'm quite fond of my ped egg...[saddo emoticon]

When is your b'day again??

Tee2072 · 16/06/2009 21:03

iris I think I saw you! Well, maybe not.

JW The new film is excellent. I hope you get to see it. If its a ped egg? Kill him. I'll help.

iris66 · 16/06/2009 21:05

just saw DH, 1/2 my face (phew, was better half) and bit of right shoulder am very relieved we weren't filmed (and ,strangely, I don't feel sick anymore )

jeanjeannie · 16/06/2009 21:08

You could kill him WITH the ped egg...file him down into little shavings - scatter him over the carpet and hoover him up!

Tee2072 · 16/06/2009 21:09

JJ I love mine too. I'll be a saddo with you.

But it was not a gift. I bought it for myself!

johnworf · 16/06/2009 21:10

JJ tell him I want some chocolate as well. I had to look that up...my Klingon is a tad rusty.

tee if it's a ped egg, it's going up somewhere where the bum cream won't help him.

I hope to get to see the film as well. I've waited far too long. Only 3 weeks to go. My b'day is when iris' baby is due. Fab day to be born

iris I saw one of each pink shoulder when they interviewed the oldish lady on your table. Excellent!

iris66 · 16/06/2009 21:12

jj - ped egg? - oooh is it any good ?(am desparate for a de-hoofing ) and yes, have had a wet (and rather snotty) nose for over a week, since you ask....so it's not a cold then, its leaky bonemarrow!!! eeeuuuwww!
