I have a business partner in Spain (well she's not there at the moment but normally). She works with the guy who runs the place we are looking at so I had contacts already. It might be a bit out of our price range as it has small hotel plus trekking centre and is in a very picturesque place. However Spanish property is plummeting and the owners are in the middle of a divorce so the vulture in me is circling for the kill.........

Tee2072 · 16/06/2009 08:13

Morning all!

Just spoke to the hospital and Adam is down to 22% O2! What we are breathing right now is 21%, so he's getting there!

JW didn't you know that all Americans have swine flu all the time? Its part of our plan to take over the world. Yeah, its not really working out for us, but we're hopeful!!! evil

duchesse I think picking onions sounds like good hard work. And maybe a bit of fun?

JJ enjoy the park!

I myself am stuck at home until the community midwife shows up sometime between 9 and 3. ::rolls eyes:: So I can't even go see my son. I am not pleased with this, as I am sure you can imagine!

Neddie · 16/06/2009 08:16

ps. ermintrude I did not poo having baby because the castor oil had made a thoroughly clean sweep of my bowels about an hour before!!!

Neddie · 16/06/2009 08:18

Morning Tee sorry you are stuck in waiting for MW but glad Adam is on the up so to speak.

jeanjeannie · 16/06/2009 08:23

tee just seen that on FB - FAB news - he's a sturdy lad who can clearly hold his own! Oh the joys of the community midwife Hope she come sooner rather than later so you can scoot off and see your boy x

neddie I think we all have to embrace our inner vulture in times of need! They need to sell, you want a place....I so hope it works out for you. I shall dust off my hat and boots in anticipaction Are there camping facitilities as I think we'll be taking our tent everywhere for at least the next ten years

hedgepig · 16/06/2009 09:49

morning, I was not wearing Ugg boot just I was soggy and cold hence ugg (maybe a few more ggggggs would have helped)

Tee just read you update on the blog sounds like things are going well and he will be home soon. He is very very cute

Neddie if you don't do the Vulture someone else will so you may as well IYSWIM!

I'm off to go and look at some garden furniture should be fun!

ermintrude13 · 16/06/2009 09:51

tee good O2 stats, hurray!

JW use Listen Again - I'm about to, since I too missed the show, as I was hobbling about wondering if something awful was happening in my pelvis, rather than a baby's head pressing down very hard indeed. Not too bad today so I believe it was the latter. Sadly, it's decided to stay put for now, must get walking again.

JJ thanks for the Sven spoiler - so glad they're still being filthy. Jack Dee and Rob Bryden are going to be the other presenters.

BTW, you radio 4 girls, have you listened to the Reith lectures? Fantastic economist/
philosopher doing them, and since his views seem, so far, to coincide with mine precisely, I consider him to be a genius .

duchesse hard physical labour is always a good one - it can be really good fun, lots of team spirit, but also plants the idea that it would be less fun if you had to do it week in week out for the rest of your life, so maybe concentrate on those GCSEs after all.. .

Neddie My system clears itself out before labour on its own - or has done last two times, hope it will again. You're quite right to circle that property vulture-like - every cloud .

Right, off to listen to ISIHAC now - thank goodness you reminded me.

iris66 · 16/06/2009 10:05

morning all - this thread certainly moves apace! there's so much to catch up on even if you don't look for 1/2 a day!

neddie you must have been so desparate to use castor oil! I'm such a wimp I think I'd go for an induction instead

mrsjupiter - your daughter's gorgeous! she has the most beautiful eyes doesn't she, what a stunner. Congratulations on your pg too

Tee - hope you had a good night back in your own bed and that your MW appreciates your position and comes early. Great news about Adam's progress too

jw - I too love K's dress!

hedgepig - I'm thoroughly impressed!

duchesse - one of the things I'm grateful for is that I'm more like a glorified (and slightly irritating) auntie to my DSSs as they don't live with us - hope you manage to find him something demanding to enjoy

I finally slept like a top last night and only woke twice (stuffy nose and needing a wee) thanks to DH moving out into DS' room again. Things are looking up on the lurgey front too though both boys are still preally run down They're playing in the garden at the mo so better get their lunch on.

mrsboogie · 16/06/2009 10:30

morning all

I remembered ISIHAC but we had a little man up til 10pm caterwauling with his teeth so couldn't hear it really He actually cried when we left him at nursery today for the first time - but I thik it was down to tiredness and teeth and being generally overwhelmed. I know how he feels.

tee that is a bummmer making you wait all day when you coud be visiting Adam It used to irritate me having to wait in all day for the mw but you have good reason! Good to hear the little man is making strides but how are you doing?

neddie a hotel eh? sounds promising...

ermintrude still no movement? c'mon now get yerself effaced at least woman!

hello to all others must get on, I spose...

ermintrude13 · 16/06/2009 10:40

mrsb My DH says I should have a self-effacing cervix. He does impressions of it: 'Oh no, it's nothing to do with me, really, it's the uterus that does the work, honestly, my bit's easy.'

I think all this waiting is getting to him...

BonzoDoodah · 16/06/2009 10:52

TEE - Glad you are home safe. If you have to wait in for your midwife - this is normal - but ring the clinic or the number they give you for her and explain that you NEED to go in and see your baby. The midwife setting up the rounds may not be aware of your situation. Say you need visit to BF and pump milk etc and just generally be there ... that way they will should prioritise you early over the other mums who are just a routine check. (and if they don't say you're going anyway as you want to be at the hospital - they can't make you stay at home).

Duchesse lol at the rant but grrr at infuriating teens. Good hard labour sounds like the recipe if there's nothing more academically suited. Especially if rain is predicted ... evil

jj glad your camping trip was fun (depite poo-towers) and wooo at Iris and her weeing ability. Napplyless M likes to run into the carpeted bit of the house and pee there specially - even if she's been in the garden
for the last half hour grrrrrrrr.

ermintrude have you ... erm .... you know .... had it yet ???

Had an antenatal check this morning - all well - baby's heart-rate a bit lower but MW said it is asleep. Seems to be kicking me enough now though to make up for it.

Adam's Birth Story

Midwife has been and gone, and I'm off to see my son!!

johnworf · 16/06/2009 11:19

tee I know you're busy right now but is Adam on CPAP or something? I haven't read your story yet (am about to). 22% is bugger all as 21% is air anyway Hope you'll get news soon that he's coming home.

Picked up the yank and he's with the manc (DD#1). He seems lovely Actually he's 35 so I'm allowed to think he's lovely! He's got a great SOH too. I'm sure that they'll get on like a house on fire. They're off out to lunch today into Mcr. His flight was delayed for almost 2 hours and I thought he'd be knackered but he's ready for sight seeing! And yes JJ...I smell love in the air. Bout time she met someone nice!

johnworf · 16/06/2009 11:32

tee just read your story. It's hard when you can't be near to them, let alone pick them up. I can so relate to it But, you have to think positive and you know, he's in SCBU for good reason and they'll get him better to get him home to you as soon as they can. It won't be long I'm sure.

This parenting lark is a minefield as you're coming to realise. You've joined our club now you've crossed over to the dark side

Hopefully you'll get some more cuddles today and we'll see some pics of mum and baby together! Yay!

xxxx

BonzoDoodah · 16/06/2009 11:47

Awww Tee all that time not being able to hold him ... how tough. But sounds like you'll be home with him soon. Glad the MW came earlier.

jl laughing at the yank and the manc ...

OP posts:
johnworf · 16/06/2009 12:05

According to this article, all of us on this thread are far too old to be pregnant or having babies. Are you listening ladies???? FAR too old..

johnworf · 16/06/2009 12:06

I meant to ask but forgot....haven't you had that baby yet ermintrude

mrsboogie · 16/06/2009 12:06

good, glad the mw came sooner rather than later tee

jw is the manc and the yank (so romantic!) another internet romance a la tee and her DH?

jeanjeannie · 16/06/2009 12:12

tee so pleased she came and went early. Just read your story - gosh I know how hard it is...like jw says...you've joined us on 'the dark side' Actually isn't not dark it's sort of dark to pale and all shades inbetween!!

jw Awwww, the Yank and the Manc sounds like some 1980s US comedy cop film!

hedgepig OOooo, wish I was off looking for garden furniture...think Clarkes for sandals will be the most exciting thing to happen today.

bonzo good to hear check up went well. Well, pottys aren't in vogue here today - she's fed up of the potty - it's a "silly potty" today

erminturde I think this baby will just plop out due to weight - you know - your undercarrage will just let go I reckon there'll be no pushing needed!

mrsjupiter · 16/06/2009 12:31

Trying to catch up and will post properly later, but just had to say am pmsl at ermintrude's self-effacing cervix.

Catch you later.

BonzoDoodah · 16/06/2009 12:35

crappity crappity crap ... Dad just phoned to say mum taken into hospital with palpitations and angina attack. Keeping her in AMU overnight. All stressed now.

jj Grrr about the potty we have {http://www.amazon.co.uk/Potty-Little-Princess-board-books/dp/086264965X this]] I Want My Potty book ... is funny and encouraging at least. (Although readig it and doing it are completely different concepts for M)

OP posts:
johnworf · 16/06/2009 12:35

mrsb yep another t'internet romance in the making. And yep, just like tee and her DH except it's early days for me to be buying a hat! JJ they're just like Jonathan and Jennifer Hart (cue the music!) 'MAAAAXXXXXX!'

Actually, I think some things are getting lost in translation - or rather need translating. His accent up against her Manc flat vowels (think Liam Gallagher 'hiyoh'). It's really amusing watching them together trying to work out what the other has said

There's a great book that I used with my lot called 'I want my Potty' and it's by Tony Ross They all loved it and still refer to it. I still have the book somewhere which will come in handy for K

bonzo don't the old wives say that a slower heartbeat is a boy (i.e. below 120 bpm)?

johnworf · 16/06/2009 12:36

bonzo that's amazing that we've put the very same book in there!

johnworf · 16/06/2009 12:38

Btw I used to read it with them when they were sat on the potty and also, it doesn't work so well for boys...they don't relate to the princess very well

BonzoDoodah · 16/06/2009 12:41

bugger - messed up the link ... Potty_book
