Hello,
Me and Wasabipeanut thought a specific thread for people in our boat may be nice- as lovely as the knicker checkers thread is and great support but a lot of the lovely knicker checkers are past the evil first trimester and for those of us that have just found out we are pregnant again post MC we thought it might be nice for us to have a sub lounge to huddle in and support each other in these very early stages where in a way we are still in denial about this pregnancy!

We don't have to post due dates or anything scary like that, just more a place to wobble with people going through it at same time.

So I will be only 4 weeks tommorrow and 40 days ago tommorrow I had an MMC at 10 weeks but emby died at 6/7 weeks. So am going to be petrified basically for at least the next 8 weeks and would love some handholding- especially as this time I am not telling anybody except DH and best mate. Parents need not know.

Morning ladies,

Well, I feel sick to the gills today. Haven't actually been sick but am finding everything offensive- as you say, jardins. The smell of coffee, the smell of the car, people talking about beer. Even the sound of rain on the office roof is making my stomach churn. So I've gone from the no-symptoms-freaking-out camp to the feel-sick-how-am-I-going-to-get-through-the-working-day camp. Both are pretty crappy but I think I'd still rather be feeling sick than worrying. But is it normal to just feel sick and not actually vomit?

barbielovesken, we're in a similar boat. I'm 7w today and have a scan on 8th July when I'll be 11w. I had hoped for an earlier scan, but then what difference would it make really? It feels so far away though... we can support each other until then.

There are so many women on this thread now I find it hard to keep up with everyone! Much love to all though.

QueenofVenus · 10/06/2009 10:39

barbielovesken - i try to take it after or during meals - still makes me wanna hurl tho pfffff, how are you feeling? i know what you mean about the next few weeks and how time seems to slow right down just when you want it to hurry up!! Winjy and pinky - thinking of you guys keeping my fingers crossed tightly! Anyone feel totally exhausted all the time? feel like i havent been to bed for a week!

QueenofVenus · 10/06/2009 10:43

flying cloud - just been looking around the net for any info on your post -
If you are pregnant and notice even the smallest amount of blood in your underwear or upon wiping, you may be alarmed. Spotting, similar to bleeding during pregnancy, can occur at any point in your pregnancy. Spotting is slight bleeding usually noticed when wiping or as slight staining of your underwear. It can be pink, red or brown colored blood and may be rather faint. Although it is very scary, many times there is a simple explanation for the spotting.

Implantation bleeding- Spotting during pregnancy may be caused by implantation. Implantation bleeding occurs after the egg burrows into the lining of the uterus. As the egg implants into the lining sometimes a little bit of bleeding will occur. This bleeding may be noticed at the time of implantation or a few days later as brown spotting.

Spotting after sex- Blood supply to the cervix is much higher during pregnancy. Sometimes having sex can irritate the cervix and cause slight bleeding afterwards. You should talk to your doctor or midwife any time you have spotting but make sure to let them know if you had intercourse before the spotting occurred. You may be advised to abstain from intercourse during your first trimester if you are having spotting.

Spotting after an internal exam- Frequently women will have slight spotting after an internal exam or pap smear. This is generally nothing to worry about. If the spotting continues or turns to bleeding contact your doctor or midwife.

Other causes- Sometimes spotting occurs and there is just not a clear answer as to why. You may be advised to abstain from heavy lifting, exercising or to stay off your feet if you have had spotting during your first trimester.

Hope this is abit helpful

flyingcloud · 10/06/2009 11:08

Thanks Queen

I took a test last night (Clear Blue) and it gave me a Pregnant at 3+ weeks, as expected.

I just took another one this morning (in the loos at work) and it took an age to give me a pregnant at 2-3 weeks but I had to squeeze out a little wee and probably didn?t do a very efficient job in my worried stage. It just seems bizarre. I really want to call up DH and tell him but at the same time don?t want to do it over the ?phone. I probably wouldn?t be that worried about the spotting if it wasn?t for that with the complete absence of symptoms at the same time.

I told a friend two days ago and now I wish I hadn?t as I feel like I?ve jinxed it.

Sorry for being so utterly pathetic. It was a complete surprise to find out I was pregnant and I really should be more optimistic about the whole thing.

QueenofVenus · 10/06/2009 11:15

Hey hunny you are NOT pathetic, you would be pretty damn weird if your werent worrying, this little beanie is your child regardless of his/her size and its very very normal to stress and worry about every little or strange thing. If you did a test with a bit you had to squeeze out then that could be what slowed it down, you need preferably fmu and a good 5 seconds of 'flow' telling people cant jinx it, and the people you do tell will be great moral support for you - which god knows we all need at these times! If you dont feel pregnant, or dont have any symptoms dont worry too much, my friend didnt discover she was pregnant til she was 28 weeks last year - still having very normal periods, no bump no nausea NOTHING, she had a VERY healthy 7lb 6oz baby boy you will be fine too

quirkychick · 10/06/2009 11:54

Hello, can I join in? I think I've read all the threads!

I am 7+6 weeks pregnant. I have a history of bleeding and had 2 major bleeds with dd (now 3.5yrs) at 7 and 9 weeks. I had a miscarriage last year at 5/6 weeks. This time I had a bleed last Fri and the midwife referred my to gynae ward and had an early scan. All ok.

Feeling very sick and tired- trying to be cheerful about the fact I feel crap

BarbieLovesKen · 10/06/2009 12:20

Jardins, isnt it funny how you visualise people from chatting on here? for some reason I keep picturing you as a Farrah Fawcett lookalike, really slim and wearing white or skinny jeans alot of the time, sitting on the deck surrounded by a fabulous garden

So glad to hear your little boy got the all clear - cant imagine the relief.

Happybump your sister sounds like a real rock, will be lovely to share the news.

Flyingcloud - hope your ok. Those damn clearblue tests - they cause so much heartache round here. You are not being pathetic at all, we all know here exactly how hard it is and how your feeling, you definately shouldnt apologise for yourself. x

Joy27 thanks for that, your so sweet!!. I too feel sick all the time but dont vomit, completely normal as far as Im aware!!.

Queenofvenus God, I really dont know what you should do then.. Can you try eat food thats fortified with it instead.. cereals etc..

BarbieLovesKen · 10/06/2009 12:23

Hi quirkychick,

welcome!!!

Delighted to feel your feeling so crap

BarbieLovesKen · 10/06/2009 12:24

delighted to feel???? oops - clearly one thing on the mind

delighted to hear

rainbowdays · 10/06/2009 13:01

Hi, I have been lurking rather than posting as I am not having a good time of it at the moment, I have been told that I am almost certainly going to M/C, yesterdays scan was a complete nightmare, but I won't go into details here.

But however reading about so many of you having concerns I thought I would post up this thread on misdiagnosed miscarriages, which has been a huge help to me. Reading the thread of stories where people have been told they are miscarrying when they have not, but gone on to have wonderfully healthy children is inspiring. So any of you that have threatened miscarriages, or bleeding or weird scans etc, but that want to keep on hoping, then this is the website for you.

Thandeka · 10/06/2009 13:41

Hello all,
This thread is moving on so fast!
Thanks for all the best wishes- my masseuse prayed to "the goddess" for me yesterday not sure which goddess but am all for that kind of thing if it works. Haven't been sick yet today but have had head over toilet bowl for some vomit imminent retches that turned into nothing. I woke up this morning concerned I hadn't been to the loo in the night (a feature of every night when pregnant) and I didn't feel sick anymore - moment of complete panic (because of my history- see below in post to flyingcloud) til I got up- felt like death and remembered I hadn't had much to drink yesterday afternoon and evening. So small bit of relief but it seems like forever until my next scan (A week tommorrow). I will be 6 weeks tommorrow and will probably be freaking out everyday for next 4 weeks now since sometime between 6.3-10 weeks (most likely 6.5-7weeks) is when last emby died so need to get further than I got before, before I even start to think about relaxing but even then I don't think I will ever properly relax for the duration of this process.

Mummytopebs never fear am knitting furiuously in fact am knitting a games room, a 50" plasa screen and lots of banal videos to help us pass the time which is going so slowly!

flyingcloud- I know what you mean about symptoms disappearing- it is always worth getting checked out if you are worried. I remember last time mine disappeared at 7 weeks but because we were holidaying in Thailand I put it down the the change in scenery - and sometimes the symptoms came back but they were different somehow. Unfortunately I later discovered that the emby stopped growing at 6-7 weeks and I miscarried at 10 weeks - but that is not to say that this is what will happen to you AT ALL- but from my experience I would say if you are worried ALWAYS get it checked out. But please please remember that many women lose symptoms at the same stage in early pregnancy and go on to have sucessful pregnancies (like your body finally gets used to the evil hormones or something- and remember HCG peaks at about 8 weeks and then starts to dip a little bit so that can cause change in symptoms too). Lots of women have brownish disharge in pregnancy and its fine but if it changes to red with clots then get it checked out. I really don't mean to worry you with my post but I also had to pass on my experience but fingers firmly crossed that all will be fine for you. Oh and also don't worry about your CB digital result especially if the urine wasn't plentiful or first morning. That will have scuppered a good result. Good luck with your blood test tommorrow. Thinking of you.

jardins yay on your son's x-ray results and you did make me smile about being off the dishcloth- I am like that permanently but thats not a pregnancy symptom for me- I just hate washing up!

Queenofvenus with you on the exhaustion- my day so far- got up at 8ish- lay on sofa trying not to vom. Went back to bed at 11 got up again at 1ish and now on sofa again and debating about going back to bed again in a bit!

Welcome to quirkychick I think the only thing that keeps many of us going through feeling so crap is that it may mean it'll work out this time. I even told my accupuncturist they are not allowed to treat my nausea as I wanted to feel as bad as possible! (I may live to regret that!)

Happybump yay for sis coming over. Hope all is well Dubai side- if you drive past Palm Jumerirah- will you wanve ot F-i-L and SM-I-L!

Joy27 Hurrah for symptoms kicking in if it makes you feel better (or worse but in a good way!) entirely normal to feel nauseous and not be sick- many women aren't sick and are fine.

Barbielovesken Feeling people up on this thread hey! I assure you it is not that kind of lounge

Rainbowdays, Pinky and winjy thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm not actually a religious person so its a non demoninational prayer to a higher power to make this okay for you. (erm and I thought my massuese was weird for praying to the goddess.....!)

Love to everybody.

Hi all,

Queen - thank you for your kind words and reassurance. It?s lovely to have this. DH?s reaction was ?don?t panic, it won?t solve anything? which although it may sound cruel, is just his way. He is calm and level-headed about most things and ultimately that helps me through things but sometimes I would like a bit of empathy ? although in this case I can?t really expect it.

I feel a bit better having read all your comments as it just helps.

Quirkychick glad you?re ok, if it makes you feel any better I envy you for feeling sick ? but am happy for you too! Bet you never thought you?d hear anyone say that!!

Barbielovesken thanks you too.
Rainbowdays I really feel for you and you are in my thoughts.

Thandeka thank you so much as well. I am actually an expat living abroad but in England for a couple of days (returning tonight), being away is hard. But I do feel better now, I don?t know why. This morning?s evidence has disappeared and I am going to try and see the doctor tomorrow. I?ve had very few symptoms from the beginning so maybe it?s just going to be like that the whole way through. Who knows?

Good luck to all.

xx

flyingcloud · 10/06/2009 14:47

Oh - Jardins are you around? I have just read through bits of the thread (I'm at work and stealing onto MN when no-one is behind me so apols for my lack of knowledge.) Also I should point out that I have just realized I am probably gatecrashing a thread that I have no right to be in ? unintentionally through panic really, so I apologise for my rudeness. This is my first pg. I live in France too and I don't really have a doctor - I saw one last week and having my blood test tomorrow. If I call will they be sympathetic and help me? How long does it normally take for the blood test results to come back. If I call now to get an appointment tomorrow will the doctor just tell me to call back after the tests are in?
Sorry, I was on the expats? discussion board but you seem like you might be able to properly help me.
Once again apologies for gate-crashing. [blush

quirkychick · 10/06/2009 16:36

Hi flyingcloud I hope you get your blood results soon. I think results tend to be very punctual in France (my parents live there). I did have to wait over 24hours more than was supposed to last year for HCG as results on gynae ward and had to wait for doctor to be free to talk them over with me.

I don't think you are gatecrashing, early pg is always worrying.

Thanks to everyone for nice messages.

jardins · 10/06/2009 18:01

Gosh all this is so exciting, said the pathetic woman who manages little else in her day than sleeping, going to the toilet, eating (not the washing up sponge ), oh, and looking after her children.

First things first. FlyingCloud you are not gatecrashing at all, my dear. I think you will find in France lab tests are quick. Normally when you turn up at the lab with your carte vitale and insurance, bla, bla they will ask you if you would like your results posted (in that case they arrive the following morning or following day at latest) or if you would like to pick them up. In the second case you can usually turn up later in the day. They should give you a time, if you ask.

The health system is very good. The doctor will take you seriously and will always err on the side of caution by running test, etc. Oh they love all that medical intervention stuff here: that's why the state social security is in such total deficit!

Anyway, please don't hesitate to get back to me (us in general) whenever you like. We are here to support you. Whereabouts in France are you?

BarbieLovesKen I LOVE you for cheering me up with your very positive image of me in a luscious garden. You have a wonderfully vivid imagination. Thank you also for making me laugh.

Rainbowdays I admire your last post. You are being very considerate towards us all and I am so sorry you are going through a hard time. If you need to vent about your scan please do so,ok?

Joy27 as Thandeka wrote it is totally normal to feel sick and not throw up. As I have already mentionned (God, I'm getting dull) I suffered from bad ms with both my viable pregnancies without every throwing up; although there were times when I really felt I would. I guess I'm anal about throwing up. Er, what is the mouth equivalent of anal?

By the way does anyone get sort of stitches down below? I got up quickly from my bed and felt a sorty of ligament pain on the side down below, which lasted a couple of seconds. What a wimp. I'm just curious to see if it's normal. Any thoughts Thandeka?

winjy · 10/06/2009 18:33

hello to flyingcloud and quirkychick there are loads of us on here now!!

TMI ALERT still having brown discharge BUT i felt really sick this afternoon!! got slighty excited!! hopefully thats a good sign. but iv got to wait til tues to find anything out but until then im gonna cling onto that little bit of hope. iv also got a cold which iv convinced myself is also preg related...im a bit of a freak really!

pinky how are you?

rainbowdays im so sorry ur scan didnt go so well but like that link says, they are not always right when they say ul miscarry. in early pregnancy they dont know much so alot of it is guesswork.

thandeka im with you on the lack of relaxation...but im glad ur feeling ur symptoms, as shitty as they are at least they are reassuring.

iv decided to treat myself to a dvd and some ice cream so im having a pyjama party all by myself tonight (dp is in work) counting down the days til tues (god is it really 6 days away

lots of love to you and ur beans xxx

quirkychick · 10/06/2009 20:23

hi winjy feeling sick is a good sign (apparently) though not feeling very convinced today.

I had 2 major bleeds with my first, successful pregnancy- tmi alert! major brown bleeding and huge clot at 7wks then later major bright red bleeding and humungous (sp?) clot/lump at 9wks but was very sick and had successful scans. So, little beans can survive a lot.

I had bright red bleed on fri at 7wks this time and have only had a few brown smears this time. gynae ward doctor said it was probably placenta implanting. I am encouraged as actually much less dramatic than 1st pg. Will be very nervous at about 9 wks as that was when had 2nd bleed before.

Good luck everyone with your scans.

Thandeka · 10/06/2009 21:27

See now those are the types of post I LOVE to read! Thankyou for posting quirkychick!

In other news DH on discovering certain food words make me heave, is now taking great delight in saying "courgette" and "boiled carrot" to me at the min! The imagining of the texture is making me gag but thankfully not throw up into my dinner (which had to be minus said healthy vegetables for that reason!) Bah! DH is evil but it is funny!

OP posts:
mummytopebs · 10/06/2009 21:52

I am at the gagging stage at everything at the moment to, thought i was going to throw up in the supermarket earlier and had to eat 2 packets of fruit mentos on the trot to keep it at bay. Started new job today and it was good.

Is anyone else massive? I know i was in maternity trousers with my dd at 12 weeks cos i had a lot of water but i am huge this time at 7 weeks!

mummytopebs · 10/06/2009 22:21

Is anyone around tonight i have got a pain in my right side am a bit worried about it and am constantly going to the toilet to check knickers

Thandeka · 11/06/2009 07:41

Hi Mummytopebs.
Yay for being massive- makes it feel more real. I'm not massive just yet but expecting it shortly as last pregnancy at 8-10 weeks I had a bump so I imagine since my uterus has only just been stretched then a bump may appear sooner. (Will make it harder to hide and keep a secret until 12 weeks if it does!)
Am 6 weeks today so will keep you posted! I'm sure my boobs have grown- they are quite tender and erm all veiny which completely grossed out DH last night when I was making him check them to see if he thought they had grown!

On on the pain on one side or another- very common apparently- thats what I ended up in A&E with and the nurse said she had been admitted with same at 5 weeks (and her Bairn is now 17months!) its basically most likely to be pain from all the hormones and your corpus luteum (the thing the egg came out of which is currently sustaining the pregnancy until the placenta is properly developed). Not to worry you but there is a small risk it is ectopic so if you are worried get thee to A&E or EPU for reassurance. (although at 7 weeks you probably would have had signs before this- keep an eye out for shoulder tip pain).
My pain is on left hand side and despite having it checked out it still worries me and I still have it as I type this- but at least scan showed it in right place so am trying not to let my overactive imagination run wild- (as in its twins- one is ectopic and cant be seen and the other is in right place!)

Anyhow let us know how you are!

Oh and in response to jardins question- (BTW I love how I have become the "expert" on the forum when it comes to early pregnancy I don't have as much of a clue as I do about menstrual cycles (am a bore about them!)- I swear I asked the question about stabbing pains in the fanjo earlier in the thread and was reassured by everyone saying that's normal. So I shall regurgitate that answer and add some titbits from google/another poster earlier in the thread! "Stabbing pains in the fanjo are entirely normal as the hormones cause the ligaments to stretch ready for future birth" or something like that. But if worried don't hesitate to seek medical advice.

Thandeka · 11/06/2009 07:45

Oh and can I just add am now in a panic as couldn't manage anything for breakfast except some rasberries and to my horror having eaten half of them I realise I have forgotten to wash them! Nargh! Yaya for early pregnancy paranoia.

Oh and I am still having cramps which have started to get worse in the last few days but since I still feel terrible and so much worse than last time I am going to reassure myself that it is just "ligament stretching" or something.

OP posts:
Joy27 · 11/06/2009 07:56

Going to EPU. Will report back later.

2nd attempt ? welcome and congratulations! Sorry to see you had a mc before, but your symptoms definitely sound more positive for you this time round. I miscarried at the beginning of the year at 10 weeks (although emby didn?t make it past 6) and it was like a ghost pregnancy ? no symptoms at all and am also relieved that I seem to be having a lot more this time round. Sadly, I do understand exactly what you mean about the excitement not being there. I am hoping it will come back after the first trimester is under our belt!

Mummytopebs I hope your 1st day of your new job went well and, more importantly, that your daughter gets some quick results for what is going wrong with her vision. I have noticed my waist is distinctly thicker. I no longer require a belt on my fave jeans which is a bit worrying. I didn?t go into the comfy trousers till about 12 weeks last time. If I last that long this time it will be a miracle. They do say with subsequent pregnancies your abs just give up and wave the white flag very early on!

Thandeka ? great news on the blood test results. I hope you are reassured, although if you are anything like me you prob won?t be for long. Wicked idea to knit the games room, tv and games. Can I request a Wii Fit ? Please try not to worry about the cramps. From what I gather some women get quite strong cramping early on. Unless it is accompanies by bleeding there is no need to worry. I know, I know.

Top marks on the healthy breakfast though!

Barbielovesken ? we are all stuck in first trimester groundhog day! Time just craaaawwwllllsss doesn?t it? 7+4 sounds really far on to me but I am only 6+3! I hope you find ways to keep the nausea under control ? the carbs thing seems to be fairly universal. Ice lollies are also working well for me ? Callipos since you ask!

Happybump sorry if you have already said but where are you? Fab news that your sis is coming to visit.

Flyingcloud I?m afraid my answer to any question like yours is to advise you to contact your midwife or GP. Speculating just drives you crazy. I hope all is well for you. Best of luck with the blood test.

Joy that omnipresent nausea is very normal! With my ds I didn?t actually start chundering until about the 8th or 9th week I don?t think. Till then it was just nausea and dry retching.

Quirkyjean ? congratulations ! Welcome to our bubble. We are all doing a good job of keeping each other sane at this rather difficult time.

Jardins I can so relate to the dishcloth ? the smell of ours make me want to honk! I replace it every day or two but it still stinks and so does my hand when I?ve used it. Eeeeuuuuurrrggghhhhh. I get the stitches from time to time as well if it makes you feel better. I thought it was odd as I can imagine lots of stretching happens later on but my peanut is so tiny now nothing needs to stretch! Perhaps because it is 2nd and 3rd babies the body starts to relax all the ligaments earlier on? Eeek.

Rainbow, Pinky and Winjy ? my thought are very much with all of you. Your optimism and the fact that you are still thinking of others at what I know from experience is an incredibly difficult time are inspiring.
