Morning ugg we have been up since 4am how lovely !! [knackered emoction]
We actually went out last night to a friends 50th birthday which was a very posh dinner with black tie and party frocks. We had a lovely time but didn't get home 'til midnight so 4am was not what I had planned.

wonderwitch wow that is a list and a half poor you. I would go see your GP just to make sure everything is OK.

JW wow your DD1 looks fab. JJ I am pleased V is OK.

Ermintrude boo to vomiting up you pavlova.

iris66 · 17/05/2009 06:41

hedgepig - looks like we're all waking at hourly intervals today then - I've been awake since 5am

wonderwitch - poor you it sounds like you're pretty stressed at the moment (and the lack of sleep can't be helping!) As hedgepig said, phone your GP (or hospital EPU - I'm sure they'd be happy to help) and see what they say. If nothing else it will put your mind at rest and you may sleep better.

ermintrude 40min labour! - that's exactly what I want and I shall book one straight away

Tabitha - so what did you have, girl or boy? did you get the 40 min labour too?

Tee2072 · 17/05/2009 07:34

Morning all

wonderwitch do call your GP or go to your EPU. So much better to put your mind at rest.

ermintrude I'm with iris I'm booking myself one of those 40 minute labours immediately!

I also had a crap nights sleep. PIL are here, so they are in the spare room, so I slept with DH, which I haven't done in over a month, and I was so anxious about keeping him awake as I ran to the loo every hour, I never really settled! Napping later and then off to see Star Trek!

johnworf · 17/05/2009 07:50

wonderwitch some of those symptoms you have may not be related to pregnancy at all. Have you had an eye test recently? They always ask me if I have seen 'floaters' when I go. Same with the blurry vision. Although the vision coupled with the tingling and sweating could be signs of stress.

As for the itching, that can be a symptom of pregnancy. The boobs, tiredness, spots etc are all typical early pregnancy symptoms too.

I would doubt you had gestational diabetes so early on. I was diagnosed at 16 weeks and they said that was still very early as things normally go. Btw, I had no symptoms at all and it was picked up in my urine sample in clinic.

I'm with the others and I would call your Early pregnancy unit or book in with your GP just to put your mind at rest.

tee sounds like a horrendous night you've had there. How long are the PiL staying for? I guess this will be their last stay then as baby will be needing the spare room very soon (or at least his/her belongings will be in there)?

Don't fancy the new Star Trek film at all. Seems all wrong that it's new people (mind you it'd have to be as half the originals are probably dead by now). Not that I'd get the opportunity to go to the cinema anyway.

Doing my older mum role today as 2/3 are coming for sunday lunch. I'm not sure I can be fannied with it tbh and may just book a table out instead. It's good to get K acquainted with dining out at a young age too I guess. Dunno yet...I'll see how it goes.

I'm thinking of buying some of the foil helium balloons with nice weights on the bottom from the wholesalers for K's soiree. Not sure if they'll look really tacky though. I've enquired and they do pink christening ones but also plain pink stars and spheres too. I'm thinking just a handful around the house (not so many that kids will come up to me and want to buy one). What do you lot think?

hi wonderwitch so sorry to hear you're unwell. about the itching thing,a friend of mine had that when she was pregnant. cant remember what it is called tho.

your backache is most likely due to your sudden increase in boob size!

the blurry vision etc, i wonder if it is all due to tiredness. if you are not sleeping well, then it is not surprising that you get tired during the day. it is a vicious cycle isnt it?

having said all that, i would go to your gp and get checked up. ask for a blood test to make sure all is fine, eg, not low in anything. you're 8 weeks and even tho you're not showing yet, a lot of nutrients and energy is being taken from your body to grow and develop your LO.

all the best hun. hugs to you!

keep us posted and whenever you need to talk, this thread is here!

heron22 · 17/05/2009 09:09

jw kids love balloons and the thing is, they might want to take it home with them! if that is ok with you, then i would go for it! i think balloons look nice and lend a festive atmosphere!

i cant believe you are over 40! you look so young

Tee2072 · 17/05/2009 09:19

JW we actually have a 3 bed flat, so baby still has its own room and so do visitors! And they are only staying the one night. They'll have left by lunch.

jeanjeannie · 17/05/2009 09:50

Morning all.

wonderwitch definately get to the GP and get it checked out. Some of the symptoms you describe sound very much like a panic attack/stress - which I had about 10 years ago - without having LOs! I had the itching early on with both pregnancies - I know it can be a bit of a worry later on though. My eyes got much worse with DD2...couldn't wear my lenses, they dried and the presciption was wrong very quickly - could be that. On the positive side - all the other signs seem to be bang on and strong! Oh and backache is very common early on too x

jw pretty pink plain balloons would look good IMO. Helium is fun - you could get a load, tie them to K and float her around the room to meet with her guests Have a nice day with the family - go on, book a table, say arse to cooking and it'll get you out of the house!

hedgepig and tee wow - that was a rubbish night's sleep for you both and after a nice night out too. That's punishment that is Just how I felt after my hen night when Verity wailed the moment I walked in the door

DP off to Costco and taking the girls - I get to tidy up - huzzah!

Tabitha8 · 17/05/2009 11:29

Iris I didn't pop. I can't believe it. I was all ready for it. Had everything close at hand. Not a single twinge. Mind you, I hadn't considered a labour of 40 mins before, so I'm glad I waited.

duchesse · 17/05/2009 11:56

Quick date change as I'm actually due in August!

Tabitha 1 Jun
Onehitwonder 8 Jun
Ermintrude 17 Jun
Tee 26 Jun
Iris 6 Jul
Bonzodoodah Jul
Neddie Aug
Duchesse 17th Aug

ermintrude13 · 17/05/2009 12:03

hedgepig I just reread my post and it does sound odd - but I 'threw raspberries over the cream-piled pavlova' and then got stuck in, rather than throwing up over it . Ate loads of it, after loads of v rich curries, so felt a bit acidic but managed to keep everything down, hooray!

Wonderwitch as JW says it could be things unrelated to pregnancy but def worth checking out if only for peace of mind.

Tabitha I'm disappointed that your plan to pop didn't work out - but now you can join the rest of us filling in the order form for the 40-min labour.

JW if you go out, you should be able to get a Pizza Express voucher here offering 2 mains for the price of one. I always like PE for meals out with LOs because they've got colouring kits and highchairs.

hedgepig · 17/05/2009 14:59

Ermintrude thanks heavens I got it wrong, such a waste of Pavlova it would have been. Well done on eating the curry too.

mrsboogie · 17/05/2009 15:06

oh blimey - its so hard to get on here these days MNHQ needs to do a spring clean on the servers!

wonderwitch sorry to hear you are feeling rough. I would definitely give my midwife a call if I were you. The white blobs/giddiness/sweating does sound pg related - perhaps blood pressure?

enjoy the film tee I'm looking forward to seeing it at some point. Have heard v good things about it.

Well, Burn After Reading was v good - Brad Pitt was very funny in it. Would recommend it.

jeanjeannie · 17/05/2009 16:29

Ah, ermintrude I also wondered if you'd thrown up or just nonchalantly 'thrown over' fruit onto the pavlova!

mrsB gosh - you're out too

tabitha I think you should be careful of sneezing or bending down because you're due for such an easy labour you may just find that one bit of a strain and out pops baby

Spent pretty much all day tiding up great swathes of clothes to be sold/given away/chucked.

Yes, the IT deptartment must have gone on strike here at MN. I think the engines are only being stoked by all the hot air created by a load of mums gassing

johnworf · 17/05/2009 17:01

Gah! Typed a long post and lost it all when the server went Pete Tong.

Just managed to 'acquire' Star Trek so will watch it later if I get chance.

It's peeing down here and has done all day. Off out soon for eats.

JJ get your ebay head on and make some pennies

ermintrude thanks for the link. Could well be going there for b'day/anniversary meal as DH classes PH as swanky

OP posts:
iris66 · 17/05/2009 17:15

Ahhh it's MN's fault! - I thought it was my laptop playing up

Tabitha - dang, and I was hoping that wishful thinking for a due date was going to work (though I have heard that self hypnosis can have a significant effect )

jw did DD get any phone calls last night?

It's been bucketing it down with rain all day here too. We got soaked just nipping out for a paper and some emergency cornflakes!

wonderwitch did you call anyone in the end today? are you feeling ok now? Anxiety/stress does horrible things to you. I lost all my fine motor skills a few years back through stress - I couldn't even lift a cuppa without spilling it everywhere - it does improve though

Neddie · 17/05/2009 18:18

Hi all
I did a really long post yesterday and it disappeared and I couldn't be arsed to write it again.
JJ so glad LO is fine- it happened to me with DD1 at 3 weeks old it's scary.
JW similar to me- poor thing.
Tabitha good luck with that one- (although I did a mega quick one last time!)

I am actually due on September 16th but will never make it that far so probably end of August again.

ps I have just been out in the rain to get in one of my older mares and bring her in to the maternity suite. I couldn't let her foal outside it's just too cold and wet for her. Hope she has it in the morning when I am there- I will call in later tonight to check on her but I can't stay up all night my babies are more important. More pics if it comes out OK. (foal number 3)

Wonderwitch · 17/05/2009 18:43

Hello everyone xx

Thank you so much for your replies, it has been good reading them, I think you could be right about the stress, we are under enormous stress at the mo with DP's business doing so badly and no money coming in, it hasn't been for over 6 mths now and he hasn't been bringing in proper wage for over 2 yrs, we are rowing quite a bit and sort of taking it out on each other

I am unable to work at the mo due to the job I do (can be quite physical) and the way I'm feeling they just don't go well together.

iris66
I haven't rung or spoken to anyone yet, mainly because the only place I know I can go is the A&E or the walk in centre and to be honest I wouldn't class this as an emergency and take up their time needlessly, I will though give my GP a call tomorrow and have a telephone triage call back and have a chat with them.

I feel such a mess and it just seems to be one thing after another, so feel like I want to just get away from it all for bit just to totally relax, not like thats going to be likely for a while though.

I'm sure we will get through it tho... eventually, its just all very bad timing.

Thanks again everyone, u are true stars xxXxx

johnworf · 17/05/2009 19:33

iris no phone calls last night but she's gone and lost her beloved Iphone whilst on a night out

Silly girl.

mrsboogie · 17/05/2009 20:21

rain getting heavier here...

blimey jw do you take K out to eat of an evening? how positively sophisticated and grown up of her! D would bawl the place down if we tried to get him to eat out at night. I think.

have just been v naughty and ordered some stuff from Next online was just getting some boring tops for work then I saw these purple slingbacks....

Tee2072 · 17/05/2009 20:27

Warning to any pregnant women about to watch Star Trek Movie: bring hanky. First 10 minutes had me in tears. Won't say more cuz I don't want to spoil anyone!

Other than that, fab movie. Even if you're not a big Star Trek Fan (although I am).

Tabitha8 · 17/05/2009 20:28

JJ A sneeze followed by baby popping out sounds even better than a labour of 40 mins. Hope it isn't tonight, as I'm watching Robin Hood on Channel 5. Tomorrow is Dispatches and Panorama.
Best wishes to you, Wonderwitch. Have you tried the midwife?

johnworf · 17/05/2009 20:58

mrsb we took her out and sat her in the highchair. I took my big bag stuffed with toys, organix tomato puffs, and a bottle. She was very happy to play and scoff the crisps I'm trying to get her used to being out and eating. Have you tried D out yet? Just take along lots of things to entertain him. Forewarned is forearmed....a very good motto in my book

OOOH lets have a shufty at the purple slingbacks! Link please

tee don't tell me what happens as I've arranged to watch Star Trek! Should be interesting.

tabitha have you used the Radio Times as your birthing plan?

JW It's a good job I don't watch the soaps otherwise I'd never find time to give birth .
