Discovered by accident that I felt better lying in the bath: also in the swimming pool for a short time but had to give that up after a while because of the smell of chlorine.
Eating small amounts of something starchy quelled it a bit: it took me a while to cotton on to this because it's so hard to think of it when you feel sick.
Found I could keep liquids down better if they were bland, tasteless and chilled.
Sucking on a sweet suppressed nausea for a while, which helped on journeys in the car/train, or to get through an ultrasound scan. I had more succes with mildly-flavoured ones like buttermints.
Sleeping in the day time helped, at least while I was actually asleep.
My aunt also recommended sitting on the bathroom floor wailing 'oh please just let me die'. Or maybe she was just saying that's all she could manage to do. Anyway I felt more comforted by her telling me that than by all those who offered advice.
Another thing - it's bad enough being vilely sick without also blaming yourself (is it because I ate that toast/didn't eat that toast/didn't get enough sleep/am a pathetic wimp?). Remember it's not your fault.
