It's me again - still vomitting and feeling generally sick as a pig. My friend says that badnausea is a clear indication that I am having another girl. Is there any truth to this?

snowqueen · 21/05/2003 17:46

In my own experience and friends, sickness is worse with a boy

tinyfeet · 21/05/2003 18:03

Thank you Snowqueen!!!!! Let it be true!! I'm really hoping for a boy, and am sicker this time than I was with DD, although I was pretty sick before too.

eidsvold · 21/05/2003 18:21

nothing worked for me - just had to have the puke and then a bacon roll at about 11 am - nothing would stay down before that - as I was starving.

pie · 21/05/2003 21:15

Well last time I was really sick and I have DD, this time the sickness is even worse and I know it is gonna be DD2, so don't give much thought to the sickness theory. Infact most people who think that sickness is an idicator of sex hold that it is a girls as you have an extra set of female hormones to contend with!

I woke up this morning with the worst craving for a cheeseburger. By 1pm I was in tears I wanted one so badly. I really wanted one. So basically crawled to the nearest McDonalds and promptly threw up very violently in the bookshop across the road. So all I've held down all day is a bowl of lentil soup and that is fighting to get back up.

I weighed myself today and in 5 weeks I have lost 2 kilos, is that bad? I'm 19 weeks now and since I found out I was pregnant I have lost a total of 15 kilos.

I'm overweight anyway so the midwife told me not to worry too much about losing weight.

Baby was kicking loads today though, so I guess she is getting enough food!

Please let this sickness end soon!

Linnet · 21/05/2003 21:44

My mum never had any morning sickness and she had a girl (me) the first time and my brother the second time. When I was pregnant with my DD I didn't have any morning sickness either. My cousin had a girl and a boy and was sick both times for practically the whole nine months. I think it just depends on the person. so I don't think you can predict what you'll have from morning sickness.

susanmt · 22/05/2003 10:02

I was sick more than once a day every single day from 5-16 weeks with dd. I was sick once with ds! THis time I have been sicker than ever, and still have a way to go till the 16 week mark, so am wondering if it is a girl this time - as it is so similar to my girl pregnancy. Time will tell I suppose.

tinyfeet · 03/06/2003 15:50

Sorry to raise my nausea woes again, but since I was sick with DD from weeks 5 to 12 only, I have been eagerly awaiting week 12 (next week). All along, I have been assuming that the nausea will stop at the same time that it did with DD, even though it started at week 7 this time. For those of you with more than one child and who have experienced extreme nausea (and vomiting) - did the nausea end around the same time for all of your pregnancies?

tinyfeet · 04/06/2003 18:48

I'm sure no one cares, since I seem to be talking to myself in this thread, but I would just like to announce that in Week 11, my nausea has lifted, and I feel NORMAL again! I think I can actually look forward to having another baby now. If anyone cares, thank you for listening to me complain. I love you all.

pie · 04/06/2003 18:52

I said it on the other thread and I'll say it again...

Yeah tinyfeet

tinyfeet · 04/06/2003 19:01

Thanks, Pie!

pie · 04/06/2003 19:03

I have to say that as soon as I posted that message I puked in my mouth, ran to the toilet spat it out, then puked again so hard that the whole toilet contents landed on my face.

I don't do things by halves.

tinyfeet · 04/06/2003 19:06

So sorry, Pie! Have you been drinking lots of liquids? Last week, I was finding that a large glass of ice water made me feel pretty good for short spells. I also ate biscuits all day long. Hope it ends for you soon! There is light at the end of the tunnel . . . .

pie · 04/06/2003 19:19

to be honest I have totally given up trying to find things that help. I've been trying everything for 21 weeks so know I just eat what I want and if it comes up then I hope my luck is better next time.

I find the only things I really want are from the States anyway, and although DH has put in a request for a goody box, about 10 weeks ago, the postman never brings Cheetos joy.

crazynow · 05/06/2003 08:21

I'm sorry to hear that both pie and tinyfeet are still feeling very poorly, I know the feeling well. With my 1st pregnancy I was throwing up and had the sickness feeling all day for 20wks, nothing seemed to stop it. I'm now pregnant with no.2 (25wks) but have found that the all day feeling sick (not throwing up!!) only went on till 14/15 wks, but I found that chewing gum and sucking mints helped loads. In saying that this last week I have been feeling sick, but not badly. I'm now suffering from Symphsis Pubis, so if it's not one thing it's another!

pie · 05/06/2003 08:29

crazynow, sorry to here about the SPD, come join in the woes of SPD thread here

meanmum · 05/06/2003 08:31

Sorry to hear about those suffering nausea. I'm sure you've all tried everything but I always found dried fruit really helped me. It was nutritous, filled with sugar to get your blood sugar levels back up and easy to carry around in a zip lock bag. I couldn't eat it first thing in the morning though and remember once just about vomiting at the thought of having to brush my teeth. I was lucky and only vomited once but felt nauseous (sp) for the whole day for the full 12 weeks. A midwife suggested mineral water and a couple of dry crackers before getting out of bed which I did find helped as well.

Linnet · 12/06/2003 21:55

This may be a rather stupid question but since I didn't suffer from morning sickness or any nausea when I was pregnant and neither did the few people that I've known to be pregnant in the past I've often wondered when the nausea/sickness starts. Does it start before you've missed your first period or afterwards? I'm sorry this is a silly question but I have always wondered. Can anyone enlighten me?

meanmum · 12/06/2003 22:00

I find mine tends to start around week 7 and luckily for me stops basically at the start of week 13. I think it can vary from person to person but it is generally said that it starts from around week 6/7 like mine does.

Luckily I don't actually vomit but my nose is so sensitive that I can smell everything which makes me feel sick.

LucieB · 13/06/2003 10:05

I only had one episode on the tube during my first pregnancy - must have been about 9/10 weeks and felt all dizzy, hot and nauseous but didn't vomit. Actually never vomited during that pregnancy but did have a few weeks of feeling a bit nauseous and went through a phase (at about 6-8 weeks) of throwing a lot of stuff away out of the fridge because I couldn't stand the smell!! Never went off coffee or alcohol!

milch · 13/06/2003 15:40

I started getting nauseated 5 days after we did it. No-one believes me. Even I didn't believe me - I thought I was ill, pregnancy never even occurred to me.
