oopsacoconut thank-you thank-you thank-you!! I think that has just sold it to me My DH hates flimsy frames, as he feels it will brake, we have a labrador and walk across fields- so that has really helped!! We may spreed the cost- as DD has a b'day coming up in a couple of weeks We have a citreon grand picasso ( 7 seats ) so when we are not in full capacity- it will be fine-- but may need to ditch carrycot-if we need all 7 seats- but want it now!!

Thanks again xxxxx

oopsacoconut · 30/04/2009 10:50

Effie - carrycot folds flat too! we used to tuck it folded flat on the floor behind her car seat.

Effielou · 30/04/2009 10:54

Hi.. You should be on commission-- think it definately sold now!!! what colour do you have. I like the Roasted Brown and the Tango red!!!

oopsacoconut · 30/04/2009 11:49

We have the grey/black one as our local baby shop offered us £200 off to buy their stock one with carrycot and carseat. I wanted the atlantic blue one but I got what was cheaper! The new green is VILE, I got the brown/red car seat.

Effielou · 30/04/2009 12:50

I'm getting excted now-- roll on sat -I'll let you know what we decided on xx

nelix2000 · 30/04/2009 13:18

you can get some bargains on Stokkes.I sold mine on ebay for £250..maybe depends where you get it from but I have seen them online for 400!....new!! or 450 maybe. Don't be fooled into thinking you need the carry cot. Put your baby in a sling for a while then they can go in the stokke. But even the basic model comes with a baby insert to lie them flatter and the seat goes back so they sleep well in it!!

TamTam29 · 30/04/2009 16:14

Rachel4 - i LOVE my mountain buggy. I sold my Mamas & papas pramette when DS was around 3 months as it was far too heavy to push with his weight added and bought a second hand MB.

with no2 on the way I have just bought a carry cot to use with it from ebay. You can use the MB from birth but baby would get abit of a rockety ride if you werent on a smooth pavement!

the only downside is that it is too big for our car, so only good if you have a second buggy or walk everywhere. We have taken it on the beech (shingle and sand) and wimbledon common, and you can still push one handed on grass, up hill etc!

Effielou · 01/05/2009 10:02

oopsacoconut Well we went ahead and ordered the Maxi-cosi Mura 4-- n the brown!!! very excited.

I have a nearly 3YO and we are on our 6th pushchair now and it'll be our last but I am a pramaholic so could'nt resist commenting

If I could do it again I'd have the Bebecar R-VERSUS pushchair because it looks lovely and can fold with seat attached.

I would'nt have a travel system because I don't like seeing babies all scrunched up in car seats, poor wee mites,

It depends on your needs really.

1.Do you walk a lot on rough terrain? - Pneumatic tyres

2.Do you use the car a lot? - Small fold

3.Forward/rear/combination face - always handy

4.Do you use public transport a lot? - Easy, small fold

5.Do you have decent storage space or will it need to be put down all the time?

6.What extras are included and which do you need? -

Also can I say that 2nd hand car seats can be very dangerous so please if you are getting one be very careful! Check the expiry date and make sure it has never been involved in any sort of collision as there could be a tiny crack in it somewhere that if the worst were to happen could sadly cause serious injury to your baby if it is in any way damaged even a little bit.

Oh and always check that it is compatible with your car rather than your pram.

I am avec bump but no.1 is 14mths- I have a black micralite toro (really good, but doesn't face you)-

Quinny buzz was utter rubbish the wheels had differing ideas of where they were going and I found it surprisingly bulky and hard to fold.
Quinny zapp, while I'm on the subject- wheel fell off while out of the country. Couldn't have been a worse time! I don't recommend either.

Had M&P Luna buggy but never ever used it.It is very reasonably priced, folds very easily and is lightweight but doesn't face you and I just didn't like it at all.

Ones I like are- bugaboo bee (lightweight and lies flat so suitable from birth)

concord neo (I like the polar colourway)

bugaboo cameleon (but everybody has these)

and phil &teds sport.

By the way with a little baby- I mostly used a babybjorn active carrier. (I think they now have a fancier version called synergy)- anyway it was fab

madmissy · 04/05/2009 19:57

no idea with dc3 yet but have had a fair few!
i'm bored so will start a list lol

stokke xplory- loved it was fabby, had loads of looks but i loved how high dd was, great buggy but not suited for any off road

bug cam, frog, gecko - lovely again looks great, fairly light but suprisingly wide! very easy travel system for car seat.. i wld not recommend for off roading think they use that for a gimick tbh. i found the frog to be the best of all of them! however none of them lasted past 18months with my dd's the head room is very restricted ( the frog less so as the hood sits behind seat)the gecko is the smallest.. has no bumper bar and the recline is different

bugaboo bee- great for city life not good for walks very light easy and nimble not ver y wide and if you do get one second hand definately get the thin wing bee as the wide one is very limited on space

nipper ( only had double) incredibly light and easy to steer my friend raves about her single

mountain buggy urban- superb loved this cant fault it untilllllll

BOB revolution- i have this now and this is the ultimate jogger off road buggy that looks stylish and also travel system compatible...only downside??!! you have to import form usa

m&p pliko pramette- i had this as my 1st buggy with dd and loved it! was superb however the newest versions seem to have got quite heavy maybe a prob with anyone who has bad wrists?

m&p skate- looks great and like the stokke the dc will be nice and close to you! unlike the bugaboo it folds in one peice but it is heavy to lift!

silver cross dazzle- i had all blk and was in love with this super easy and super stylish then my brake broke! so back it went

maclaren xt, xlr- cant fault them! they are great simple choice and the xlr is travel system compatible so great if you want a easy buggy thats quick and light but want to be able to pop car seat on

maxi cosi mura- noooo dont do it! tried in shop it was awful and fell apart no wonder you dont see many!!

quinny buzz- this is anothe stylish chocie and i liked this actually prefer to the bugs i think but its wide!

madmissy · 04/05/2009 20:01

ohh forgot the p&ts!
vibe i had when first released and ball bearings went up til then i like it and how it was more comfy than the sport

e3 i found the rear seat to be more roomy that the sport but this desnt recline

sport great buggy however the recline on this and the e3 bugs me as its awkward to do when kiddy has fallen asleep etc

dash has had recalls so not sure on that one

overall they are great easy double choice and again you can have the car seat on and use the double kit with it

only downside is the recline on sport and e3 (vibe is dif) and they are fairly heavy

ladylush · 06/05/2009 20:01

blimey madmissy

madmissy · 06/05/2009 22:05

thats only tip of the ice berg

sparklycheerymummy · 07/05/2009 15:11

i really want the maclaren xlr which now comes with soft carrycot and car seat travel system. had a maclaren with my dd from 12 months and loved it.

madmissy · 07/05/2009 15:45

oooh sparkly i have a xlr arriving tomorrow!

sparklycheerymummy · 07/05/2009 15:50

brill..... i used my maclaren till my dd was 4..... she was a lazy bean and loved it. it was then passed onto a friend for a year and then passed onto another friend and still looked fab..... easy to was down and dry in the sun. The xlr is a more 'posh' version but its the only one i am going to get..... had a M&P travel system before and it was so plastic and bulky!!!

ladylush · 07/05/2009 20:30

madmissy - since you are such an expert , I wonder if you can advise me on the best pram for my needs (pretty please).

Right. I'm 5ft 10 and dh is 6ft 3 so we need a pram that is height adjustable. Also ds was big (and long) so pram will have to be roomy in the seat/carrycot.

I want rear+forward facing and suitable from birth. Ideally I want a carrycot. I live in the city so don't need off road. Not keen on 3 wheelers. I've got a Maclaren Techno Classic that I can use later when baby/toddler heavier. I quite like one handle prams as opposed to two but this isn't essential. I want somewhere to put my shopping. Baby is due mid September so a winter proof pram is essential. That sounds silly - but I've heard some people say that their pushchair was more suited to summer as the material was too thin or it was a poor design.

Think that's it. Obviously price is an issue but I would consider second hand if getting a more expensive model.

TIA

madmissy · 08/05/2009 09:37

does the rear facing have to be when they are in seat part too? ie +6mon?

second hand cam... still are pricey but you can get some bargains on ebay.. the frog doesnt have a adjustable handle so not sure that will be any good for you.

bugaboo bee.. god city option very light and nimble the baby nest makes cosy for newborn however is small i wld reccomend you had a baby nest made www.chunkle-munkle.co.uk. if you chose one of these make sure it has the newest version of thin wings these make huge room difference

m&p skate these are lovely but can be bit weighty but very cosy for winter the basket is decieving and you hold loads in the straps

mountain buggy.. light but can be wide the acarrycot is lovely on this again one handle which is also adjustable again can be pricey new so ebay 2nd hand? the newest version has rretractable axles when the wheels are off.... 3 wheels but very underrated. although past cot stage its forward facing

m&p ultima or mpx... i love these in pram mode but hubby not sure on them they have a superb cot which you can buy a stand for and use as babys first bed have huge basket etc only thinbg is they are not most compact fold but very good pram again adjustable single handle

another good pram is the silver cross linear very roomy pram mode and seat a lovely winter pram very tempted to try one my self

thing is with alot of them you get the bulkier fold but for the newbie stage i dont tend to mind that as like you have already mentioned you can switch to the stroller when they are a bot older

hope thats some help? not on form much to day had a return bout of morn sickness

allthetwinklystars · 08/05/2009 10:00

Ladylush, here's one no one ever mentions. It's not height adjusstable but I'm 5 10 and haven't had any problems. The Chicco Trio4me, but ONLY the buggy, not the whole travel system. I got mine (new) off ebay for £140. It is umbrella folding, can face (and fold) both ways, comes with a fantasic foot muff, raincover and winter/summer shade. It also lies flat (flatter when parent-facing). I love it. It has a handle-joiner bit so you can have a bar or two handles. Oh, and you can put a buggy board on it too.

madmissy · 08/05/2009 12:12

loola streety may be another option its like the bug bee but not as well made but its lots cheaper lol

nappyaddict · 08/05/2009 13:00

Bugaboo bee is much lighter to push than streety and trio for me.

madmissy · 08/05/2009 13:50

oh yeah dont doubt that but its a cheaper option for people

ladylush · 08/05/2009 15:46

Thanks Great to have such experts available for advice I showed dh a pic of the xplory last night. His reaction was So I gather he's not keen.

ladylush · 08/05/2009 15:47

How much do you reckon it'd cost to get a nest made?
