Ah yes, the Toyota advert music. I kept on thinking it was Suzanne Vega but it isn't. Sounds very much like her. It's by Free Design.

LOL @ powerplate and slow release carbs. Naw. A Powerplate is used by the likes of Gwynny and Madonna and costs a bloody fortune. Explains it here

We've started watching CBeebies. K loves most of it...it's mind numbing. Takes me back to years ago but it was Postman Pat and Thomas the Tank Engine then. The guy who does the sign language (Justin?), Big Cook, Little Cook and Fimbles are favourites already. In the Night Garden is some acid trip I've been dropped in the middle of. Macca pacca scares the shit outta me. What a freak!

Ah well, DH is coming to the end of Apprentrice time. Srallan has kicked more pants tonight I fear.

Bedtime for me soon-ish...just after I've looked again at these LK Bennett shoes and stuck a bid in

mrsboogie · 29/04/2009 22:32

I used a power plate at my gym before I got pregnant.Interesting...especially when you sit on it ...ahem...

FloriaTosca · 30/04/2009 08:32

morning ladies.
typing one handed atm as alex has d and v and wants cuddles

jj; fab potty breakthrough...alex has twice used his without prompting...both times when i was out of the room for a second and the second time he hadnt managed to remove his pants...ft cruelly wanders off singing 'timmy[baa],its timmy[baa], he's a little lamb with a lot to learn'.....enjoy that going round your head all morning

jw;lol at your reaction to macca paccaalex adores justins programmes but we do talkfirst sign language lessons so i suppose he would.powerplates are fab...my mum has a cheapo version but the real things cost a packet

iris;sorry i didnt recognise your name sooner. you should pop over to the piggies antenatal thread and say hello..muppet is pg again with her 3rd too.

he is going pale again, looks like another bout imminent..back later i hope

ermintrude13 · 30/04/2009 09:09

Hope you caught that vomit Floria and that Alex gets it out of his system quickly.

JW you've reminded me of the joys to come with CBeebies. Apart from Night Garden, which DS just missed (thank god) I think I'm familiar with all of those progs . Just as long as Welsh Chris is still doodle-doing by the time my LO gets dumped in front of telly to enjoy a limited amount of televisual stimulus. Sigh.

mrsb I remember visiting my nan 20 yrs ago when she was a spring chicken in her 60s and finding her sitting on the washing machine during its spin cycle. She swore it was because if she didn't it would bounce across the floor but I suspect a power-plate experience was more like it

BonzoDoodah · 30/04/2009 09:37

at Ermintrude's gran on the spin cycle! Tee HEE

Florida hope the ittle one is better soon. Sounds like you have a great day ahead.

jw - with you on macca pacca and night garden - the whole thing is like one massive trip isn't it. And as for Macca pacca and his OCD!!! Sheesh. M LOVES it though and insists on doing the circle thing on my hand at the start. And wooo hoo at your weight loss. Brilliant that people are noticing. Must be a real ego boost.

Went to see In The Loop last night at the pictures for hubby's birthday - very funny!

Tee2072 · 30/04/2009 09:59

Morning ladies.

Feels like someone punched me in the left hip this morning. Its because I am so tired after my long day yesterday and then a bad night's sleep. Bring on the weekend!!

floria poor A. Hope he feels better soon.

ermintrude at granny! I hope I'm as, um, active, at her age!!

[Hmm], haven't seen macca pacca or Night Garden. I do wonder what my kid will be watching next year.

jeanjeannie · 30/04/2009 10:12

Morning all!

ermintrude lol@ your racey gran!!

floria OOooo, poor A, hope he's keep his bodily fluids in a bit Verity is looking V peaky - she's back in bed.

Ahhh, the joys of CBeebies! I like the music on In the Night Garden - but Macca Pacca is like an enormous, deformed magotty breast!
ermintrude Welsh Chris...MMMmmmmmmm
Timmy Time tune is awful....sticks in your head till your brain is fried. jw Justin (aka Mr Tumble) ROCKS! I think he's just got a MBE for his work with SN kids. No-one should ever 'dis' The Tumble!! Charlie & Lola is Iris's fave - but that theme music - it's really similar to Terry & June

OK - off to HV for Verity's 8-12mth check....just have to wake her up

mrsboogie · 30/04/2009 10:15

floria sympathies on poor A's tummy - D has something also - not sure what it is though - he is taking 2 oz bottles at 3/4 hr intervals day and night and doing massive explosive poos. Not diarrhea though. And no puking. I am so so tired. Am sat at my desk cross eyed with exhaustion today.

ermintrude arf at granny enjoying the spin cycle - my mate used to do that when we were teenagers...

the only thing D watches on telly so far is something called Ben 10 which I think his dad likes

right. Work.

/rolls up sleeves

heron22 · 30/04/2009 10:56

morning all

how are you all?

cloudy day today. but dry.
weekend meant to be lovely

still terribly emotional. mood a bit up and down.

heron22 · 30/04/2009 11:04

floria hope your LO are better soon

heron22 · 30/04/2009 11:06

jj i hate waking up LO when they are asleep! this usually happens when we have to leave to take DS1 to school.

johnworf · 30/04/2009 11:24

JJ good luck at the developmental test. I'm gonna nip down to ladbrokes and put a fiver on 'bet they say someting isn't quite right' They always do

mrsb hope D is back to his usual chipper self soon. floria same for A. Poor A Not fair.

I was trying to think what Justin's alter ego was called and now I remember (as you've typed it!) Mr Tumble.

macca pacca is indeed a maggot with a sponge

tee this time next year you'll be watching any old crap on the tv. Especially the stuff that your LO loves as that's prolly the only time you'll get any peace

ermintrude I bumped into your gran last week in Ann Summers

ermintrude13 · 30/04/2009 12:58

What were you doing in Ann Summers, JW? . My nan is one of those repressed old women who never talks about sex and had twin beds before she was 40, so the washing machine was a bit of a shock...

Hope the tests are fine JJ. When my sis took her DD for one - can't remember which age - the 'fine motor skills' test was for the HV to sprinkle hundreds and thousands on the table and ask the child to pick some up. My niece just leaned over and licked them all up in one fell swoop. The HV said it showed ingenuity

heron22 · 30/04/2009 12:59

yesterday i bought DH a bottle of alcohol hand gel and told him to use it regularly.

this swine flu thing is a worry. we are going to avoid crowded public areas, eg supermarkets, cinemas, restaurants, etc.
luckily the weather is quite warm, so we can spend time in the free outdoors, eg, gardens. instead of being cooped up indoors.

jeanjeannie · 30/04/2009 13:11

WOAH! Hands jw a fiver !!!!

Apparently Verity isn't growing - in height She doens't even make the chart I'm a bit freaked out - so I'm taking her every two weeks to get measured to make sure there is at least some growth. Her weight is just under the 50th centile - where is should be. If she doesn't get onto the chart in 4mths then we've agreed to refer her.

PLUS!
The HV waan't one from the surgery - she was one that visits and does these checks - she works at the hospital. Immediately she spotted that Iris wasn't quite right Anyway - I told her of my concerns - she agreed and thought there was definately a severe language delay or poss AS....so we have an emergency appointment with an entire team at the hospital winging its way to us!

I actually feel shakey but OK - as I know she and I need help getting her to the next level and I still can't help looking at her and realising something isn't quite right at the moment. So, I guess at least I'm in the system to get help if we need it.

Hope all are OK - must dash and get the girls up for their nap.

jeanjeannie · 30/04/2009 13:58

Girls having nap - meanwhile I've checked checked the World Health Organisation height & weight charts - for solely BF babies. Guess what? Yep - I'll hand out a fiver to anyone who has said.....she's BANG on the middle Weird as she doesn't look out of proportion. The blinkin charts GPs use are for formula babies - and have taken into consideration our ever-increasing weight gains *stops worry and has some rye bread and low fat hummous

ermintrude13 · 30/04/2009 14:06

Bloomin' charts, they're more trouble than they're worth JJ. I have a friend with a teeny tiny DD who has never reached the beginning of any chart for her age, and it took 2 yrs of HVs nagging and tutting and referring her to clinics until a lovely nurse said to my mate - look she's perfectly-proportioned, agile and healthy, ignore the charts. I'm sure you'd have noticed if V had been 2 foot high and 3 ft wide . It's notoriously hard to measure them before they're confident walkers anyway because they don't straighten their spines.

Hope that HV is more use with suggestions for Iris!

Tee2072 · 30/04/2009 14:14

Well, just had depressing phone call from DH.

Looks like redundancy is in his future.

Perfect timing. Just in time for baby to arrive and us to lose my income.

I refuse to panic.

Maybe its time to start EBaying....

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 30/04/2009 14:29

tee oh crikey I'm sorry. Is he able to transfer skills or workplace within the area you live? But, like you said...Don't panic.

ermintrude yeah, charts are a pain. HV was good in getting us through to the next step at assessing Iris. I've just been uneasy for a while but the last HV said "oh, she's not autistic, she's not flapping her hands and screaming....." Really doesn't work like that, especially in girls. Plus, she's smart, it's just that in the last few months she's getting increasingly frustrated by her lack of communication and I don't know how to unlock that.

johnworf · 30/04/2009 14:41

JJ so sorry to hear that they've put you in a flap. Don't succumb to it !!!! They are ALL panic merchants. I know you've had a few worries re Iris in the past but I thought the powers that be were on to it. As for Verity, she looks like a perfectly healthy little girl to me. Bugger what the charts say!

Btw, how do you think we go on with K? She's checked, double checked and then we're told something isn't quite right. F**k em that's what I say. I think a mother instinctively knows when there is something amiss with their child.

If it is Aspergers, you'll go through a series of observational tests with an educational psychologist. Usually last half an hour and they're done through the one way glass. They're very informal though so don't panic. Aspergers is notoriously hard to diagnose in girls as it's seen as a male condition.

As for the communication difficulties, might be worth finding a signing class for LO's.

tee really sorry to hear that DH might be losing his job. Never a good time but especially bad with baby on the way. Hoping that something comes his way very soon. Maybe worth looking now before he finishes? No harm in looking.

ermintrude I was in Ann Summers by accident. I wandered in thinking it was the greengrocers shop next door

Tee2072 · 30/04/2009 14:54

Thanks for the sympathy girls.

DH is a University level teacher. He works at only one of two universities in all of NI!!

He does computers, so could get a job programming, although he'd hate it.

The university has been borderline illegal and very unethical on all this, so we'll probably be speaking to a solicitor at some point.

At least I have a bit of money in a pension in the US I can cash out. And his redundancy payout will keep us going for a few months.

I.will.not.panic!!

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 30/04/2009 14:57

LOL@jw in Ann Summers...looking at green vibrator and thinking "this is an odd courgette"

Well, yes jw it took me by surprise a bit, although a GP said something the other week to me about Iris - so I thought - what the heck - it's free. It'll be at the hospital and it's a paed, SALT etc who observe through play. I think it's just that it's coming up to school time and I'd like to make a choice based on as much info as poss, as some are much better for catering for delays or austism/AS than others. She mentioned High Functioning austism as she's so bright and tends to know complex things yet can't put a basic 4 word sentence together - yet, like AS it's hard to diagnose in girls as it mimicks a speech delay.

Gosh - they don't stop giving you a hard time - ever!!!! I tell you, cats are MUCH easier to look after

heron22 · 30/04/2009 15:00

how did the tests go jj?

jeanjeannie · 30/04/2009 15:02

The good news though tee is he's clearly bright, massively qualified and could do something he dislikes...to get you out of a spot. DPs mum is a huge bigwig in HR (I mean she's one of the UK's top consultants) and she admits that many/most employers are sharks and contracts people sign are as good as worthless She's been working up at jw's local council as a consultant and it's made even her hard-assed steely front go

heron22 · 30/04/2009 15:04

oops sorry just saw your posts jj will read it now
