Oh dear mrsb, my nan would say D was 'sicknening for something' which means very little but is a possibility. If he's refusing the dummy as well though it does sound more like teeth. Maybe it all just feels a bit weird in his mouth, rather than actually painful? Hope he starts taking food and milk soon.

JJ steamed veg and fish is the perfect diet! Peppered mackerel is also very good - oily fish, Omega 3s and all that. Mine like it without the pepper and it's soooo cheap (I like it with cream and brandy as a pate )

JW glad you had a good evening out. It's nice to have chaps noticing your appearance and commenting on it, especially if they're 'safe' old friends with whom you can be at ease. I love curry normally but not with acid indigestion - although doc has just prescribed Ranitidine for night time and the heartburn didn't wake me at all last night

Bonzo Rashers, har har

Tee2072 · 29/04/2009 11:52

Hi all

Just have about 2 seconds to say OUCH bonzo!!

I'll try to catch up more later!

johnworf · 29/04/2009 12:03

ermintrude it's very nice to be noticed. Especially at my age

Oh Oh Oh new boden stuff came today so I'm in excited mode. Doesn't take much. Had to first liberate it from sorting office even though it had on the front, under the address, clearly marked, 'please leave with neighbour if not in' Postman can't read. Anyway, the sorting office man couldn't find it for a long, long, long time. When he finally came back to the little square window he said 'oooops was under my coat' VERY BIG SIGH.

bonzo I'll look out the Rachel yogs. It looks like I'll be back to reading ingredients on stuff I'm buying. Alternatively, I could just follow the example of the mum of 6 month old triplets and give her a happy meal

Tis nice here today so think I may venture to the park with madam. I'm also thinking of getting a lightweight buggy to keep in boot of car so might pop to M&P shop/Mothercare.

jeanjeannie · 29/04/2009 12:11

Oh playgroups simply take it all out of me *flops down. drained. But, hey, thegirls are BOTH asleep - so operation 'floor' will commence once I've had a cuppa - prioritise first

mrsB maybe D is feeling under the weather as food is often the last thing they feel like (milk as well) especially if their tummies are feeling rough.

bonzo yes, what 'have' you done? LOL@rashers joke! Love Rachels's organic but for me, me, me! Rhubarb is my fave. Only yoghurt the girls get is Greek with fruit of the day (whatever's in the bowl) smashed, mashed or chopped into it. I'm tight me!

Pig flu leaflets....I'm looking forward to those. Will there be a pig on the front, one wonders? I'm thinking they'll be a bit like the 'protect and Survive' posters that were around when we were little.....frightened the life out of me. I used to look at our dinning room table and worry that we wouldn't all fit!

jeanjeannie · 29/04/2009 12:30

Oooo, just noticed there were more posts

jw enjoy your shopping spoils - they arrived quickly! I think I'm heading to the shops on Friday while Iris is at nursery. Got a hen night the following friday - OOooo, need a new outfit! We're heading off to Windsor - there's a limo and everything...

I think my weight loss has reached its limit now with just food alone. It's time for some serious exercise for the last stone to come off. Need to cut down the BF before I start running though - my ligaments will still be soft and gentle stuff just isn't for me. Plus, I can run in the eves while DP looks after (baths!) the girls. If I go swimming or to the gym (god forbid at that price) then it's such an expedition. At least with running you can get-up-and-GO!

Cleaned the floor - i feel very virtuous

heron22 · 29/04/2009 12:38

good afternoon all! where is everybody?
gorgeous day today but i am coming down with a lurgy so am at home resting.

feeling so emotional today! overwhelming love for my family. have not got period yet as i am still breastfeeding but i think i am hormonal today!

mrsboogie · 29/04/2009 12:45

I wish I could run but I don't seem to be built for it...

oh dear, first swine death outside of Mexico - a 23 month old baby in USA.

jeanjeannie · 29/04/2009 12:55

Heron can I join you in a hormonal fest?! My periods returned about 4 months ago and boy oh boy....woah...the hormonal rush is overwhelming. Never had it pre-kiddies. I'm fluctuating from real highs and grumpy, moany, mithering, mardi lows. My post yesterday about feeling frummy has a hormonal post! You rest up - lurgys are bad!

MMmmm, I saw that mrsB poor little mite Listened to the Today prog this morning and a scientist bloke was on and he seemed 'reasonably' confident that it could be tackled even if it had mutated. gosh, I do hope so. I see more UK cases have been confirmed in Torbay and birmingham.

jeanjeannie · 29/04/2009 13:04

Picture alert! Two pics of the girls. First is of Iris at the party her dad was djing at, and like any good parent, he gave her the microphone! And Verity showing off her clapping and hat-wearing skills

Tee2072 · 29/04/2009 13:58

Gorgeous pictures JJ!!

Apparently I am irreplaceable. Of the 4 interviews scheduled for my mat cover today, 2 cancelled and one just didn't show up! [shock} And I thought the economy was bad.

The one my boss and I did interview could definitely do the job, but we both think one candidate just isn't enough!

Okay, first US death now has me a little bit worried. And so much for it not effecting children.

BonzoDoodah · 29/04/2009 14:01

Cute girls jj MrsB - has he got thrush in his mouth? White coating? May make it painful. Poor you and poor boy.

PMT? my sister wrote this .... sort of sums it up really .... me_hormonal??

johnworf · 29/04/2009 15:08

Lovely pics JJ Iris is looking so grown up these days (now that she's got the job on Strictly Come Dancing). Verity just looks high on life - a bit like her mummy perchance?! Don't answer that

My hormones are also up and down all over the show. One minute I'm howling at the moon and the next I'm crying into my diet pepsi, threatening divorce and loitering at the fridge door Maybe I'm just unhinged.

I'm not built for running either mrsb. I'm built for sitting

jeanjeannie · 29/04/2009 15:17

tee you ARE irreplaceable! Or is that Irascible Nah, Irresistable!

jw haha yes, was thinking that I could groom her as a kind of Claudia Winkleman replacement!

bonzo your sis can join us in the bonkers brigade by the sounds of it!!

I'm definately unhinged I've decided. See, I already feel better now I've diagnosed myself

heron22 · 29/04/2009 15:57

just got back from mothercare used the giftvoucher friends gave me and bought a beabe cook! it is an expensive buy and the giftvoucher paid for half of it. it resells very well on ebay so i expect to get at least half of my money back.

LO will be 4 months next week!

how is everyone enjoying this lovely day?

heron22 · 29/04/2009 16:05

jj how long after breastfeeding did your periods return? ah, i do not miss having periods at all! urghh! solution is to get pregnant again but it is way too soon

love your pics jj

also managed to trim the ends of my LO's eyelashes. i know he is a boy but i want him to have thick gorgeous eyelashes. did the same for my DS1 and he has got thick gorgeous eyelashes!

jeanjeannie · 29/04/2009 16:44

hahahah heron LOL@ eyelash trimming. I've got the whitest, sparsest eyelashes (or non-eyelashes) seen on a human! Shame really as I've got horrid, thick unmanageable eyebrows....so what's that all about?

My periods returned (by surprise) when Verity was 7mths old and still fully breastfed. It was when she began to drop the night feeds.
Ah - so your LO is 4 months - couple of months to come up with some winning weaning menus then!!

POO NEWS!!!! POO NEWS!! Well, actually, potty news We were all upstairs playing in Iris's room when Iris came downstairs to get her potty, dragged it upstairs (couldn't use the one upstairs as a teddy was using it!) took it into the toilet, whipped off her nappy and pee'd in it First time ever it was such a surprise - totally out of the blue!! Pah, I know, she'll not so that for another year!!

ermintrude13 · 29/04/2009 16:54

JJ, sounds like you're going to have a fun summer potty training. If Iris is doing it by herself that's a very good sign . Probably preparing herself for a few karaoke nights; she won't want to be encumbered by nappies when she's belting out 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' and 'Delilah', will she?

Heron My periods came back at 10 months with DD and 7 months with DS. Both exclusively breastfed for ages longer (including expressing while I was at work) so I was a bit miffed, frankly.

Never heard of trimming eyelashes! Both my DC have got their dad's moocow roadsweeper eyelashes, fortunately. Mine are dark considering I'm fair haired and skinned, but they go blonde at the tip so look most unimpressive unless slathered in mascara

Tee Tell your coworker that they couldn't recruit a new you so she'll be taking over most of your duties during your mat leave

JW I'm like you, built for comfort not speed. Even when my pelvic floor stayed up on its own and I was my ideal weight it still felt jarring and uncomfortably bouncy to be running. Cross-training machines are the only aerobic things I've ever been happy with and even then I have to force myself on them. I'm sure that once I'm feeding this baby I will have no problem avoiding all the fizzy wine and cake that people will be throwing at me and the weight will just drop off. Not .

Tee2072 · 29/04/2009 17:34

Afternoon ladies!

Well, we found me a replacement! Hopefully she'll be starting Friday.

JJ good on Iris! She'll be out of nappies before you know it!

ermintrude Now that would be funny!!

OP posts:
heron22 · 29/04/2009 17:42

yes jj about to pull out annabel karmel's book to look at what fab purees i can make

determined to be a better mother this time around with weaning!

heron22 · 29/04/2009 17:43

jj good news on your LO using the potty! so exciting! i remember how excited i used to get

johnworf · 29/04/2009 18:02

ermintrude I used to run. I used to enjoy it. Until one day I tore a ligament in my calf. I heard it pop and felt it snap. Literally. I cannot tell you how painful it was. Anyhoo, I ended up in casualty and the doc there told me 'you're not as young as you used to be and neither is your body so no more high impact exercise' I wouldn't mind but this was 5 years ago when I was a relatively young 37! So, I came away. Head hung low and clutching a giant size pack of Diclofenac. No more running. Oh, and I have shin splints too but I put up with them. sigh.

Swimming is a good one for me. But I'm running about so much in the day that a quick go on the Wii Fit along with the housework is usually enough for me.

I'm planning on buying a bike when K gets a little bit older (and at least sitting up on her own). Problem is nowhere to store it.

JJ groundbreaking news with Iris. I did actually catch it on the BBC ticker tape on my pc Woot @ no more nappies.

DSS is pulling his face as I've stopped all the processed/packaged nonsense food. He's had shepherds pie tonight with veggies and although he likes all the ingredients individually, he sat there sulking. I feel like bad cop tonight as I persevered and made him eat most of it but it's a bloody hard slog. Off to supermarket soon to rethink all the crap he's used to. I may be a while....

tee glad to hear you've found a replacement to hand the reigns over to. Another tick on the list Countdown begins now.

There's no way I'd consider putting a pair of scissors near to K's face! It's bad enough cutting her nails

mrsboogie · 29/04/2009 19:01

eeeek at the thought of putting a scissors near D's face I have to psyche myself up to doing his fingernails!

jj most impressive potty action there - how the heck did she know what to do if she'd never used it before??? or did you mean first time she'd used it on her own initiative? whichever - whatta girl!

Mr D continues his self imposed diet but is no worse so not too worried now. Got a call from the nursery in the middle of the day and thought I was going to be asked to take him home on account of some puking or summat but no, he had been sat on the floor and executed his latest forward dive bombing manoeuvre bumping his head in the process . No harm done though.

Apprentice tonight! Must go and rustle up some tomato and lentil soup for me tea...

mrsboogie · 29/04/2009 19:02

the cross trainer is the only thing I can manage too - its easy once you get a momentum going - shame there's no where to put one.

johnworf · 29/04/2009 21:02

Awww mrsb hope he's not hurt his little bonce too much. He's gonna be a daredevil. I reckon it's a male thing. My sons went through a phase when we were either sat in A&E or they had cartoon egg size lumps on their heads Felt sure social services would be paying me a visit for all their scrapes/lumps/bumps. Boys just don't think about consequences.....nah, they don't grow out of it do they?

I fancy a power plate. In my dreams. Only plate I'll be looking at are the ones in the cupboard.

Another mum commented on how much weight I'd lost tonight so think I've broken through the barrier from fat to thinnish. I'm hardly waif like but I'm on the road to getting the body that nobody else wanted.

Hope you're enjoying your tomato and lentils mrsb. The amount of veggies and fruit I've been consuming, I should be sprouting leaves out of my belly button.

jeanjeannie · 29/04/2009 21:21

Awwww. Poor Mr D banging his bonce mrsB Definately a boy thing though. Verity's little boyfriend born the day before her is already furniture diving and hurling himself all over the place. He also has comedy bumps all over him!

A power plate? What on earth is that? I just think of a dinner plate, loaded with slow release carbs...or something of that ilk....that'd get called a 'power plate!'

Good work with DSS jw sounds like that could be a project. Yeeeow! Sorry to hear about your ligament...nasty. Yeah, that is always in the back of my mind. And I was thinking today that if I did go swimming it'd actually be 'me' time, away from the house. May have to hone this strategy!

No sign of Iris using the potty again - it was a one hit wonder I tell ya!

Got that music from the new Toyota car ad stuck in my head...woman singing, sort of hippy, folky music....pah! Still, at least it's not Postman Pat or Timmy Time
