HAHAHAHAHAH LOL@jw's tripp trapp remark.....I've just taken a break from spraying both of mine with detol!!! Nah, no top tips, spend ages cleaning mine. I'm fond of it when Iris drops something and then squishes it in with her feet

Can I recommend Muller Little Stars instead of Petit Fillous? Nice company (I did some stuff for them) and....it's a BIG 'and'....much, much, MUCH better on the ingredients front. They've never been told off for that ad where they actually site PF as having addiditves and loads of sugar!

Spec pulling is a great game...Verity is big on that. And the face flop game in the playnest was Iris's fave trick - she didn't sit up for yonks - and Verity still needs a cushion behind her or she falls back and bangs her bonce.

hedegpig OOooo, a new laptop, are you stroking it and appreciating its fine curves?!

Swine Flu is boring me now....on the news constantly.....move on. I went to Mexico once...didn't really enjoy it. I don't do chicken with chocolate and I usually eat anything...but that foxed me! Lots of pyramid ruins too....seen one...you've seen the lot. Oh, and a monkey stole my banana in a shop while I was there AND I was made to pay for it

heron22 · 28/04/2009 15:18

jw was your LO taking zantac and domperidone as well as gaviscon?

jeanjeannie · 28/04/2009 15:38

On a completely different note...totally off-topic. I'm feeling dowdy, horrid and manky. I want a 'whole NEW me'! I want to be BANG on TREND. I bloody well want Gok Wan to come and take me roughly by the lapels and get me sorted.

This from someone who worked in fashion for a living. There, that's how bad my sartorial malaise is................*stomps off...frumpilly

Tee2072 · 28/04/2009 16:12

JJ lots of department and other stores do personal shoppers now, usually for free! Get yourself hooked up!

JW I totally sympathize on being bunged up. Between pregnancy and iron pills, I feel like I'll never be 'regular' again!

I've just contacted a solicitor about making wills for DH and I. How grown up do I feel?

OP posts:
johnworf · 28/04/2009 16:31

heron nope is the simple answer. She's only ever had the Gaviscon and it's worked

I've always said that you and me are living in parallel universes JJ. Great minds obviously think of cleaning Tripp Trapps at the same time

I've had a major wardrobe clear out. 3 bags; charity, tip and ebay. Now with new improved weight, I'm having an enforced make over. I've bought lots of good basic clothes, few nice quality dresses (white stuff, boden, LK Bennett - thanks to ebay) and lots of nice trinkets to dress it up. I can't be doing this malarky everytime the seasons changes or fashion goes in or out. Just need a nice pair of (little) heels.

I'm off out with my friend Guy tonight. Think we're having a curry. Not had one in yonks but will forego any sauce and have dry chicken dish instead.

Have to go0,0 Kis gbanging on the 0keyb.oard as I type

Tee2072 · 28/04/2009 16:42

I keep meaning to say, there was something either on here or on another board I read about babies throwing themselves backwards out of the Tripp Trapp and making the whole thing go backwards with the baby hitting the floor!! Put it against a wall!!!!

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 28/04/2009 16:47

Blimey tee they'd have to go some to do that VERY grown up - making wills. A happy subject!

jw you are an inspiration....a new, compact wardrobe. I spent years telling people that they should do this and now i just can't be a*sed!! We're thinking of doing a car boot sale somewhere reasonably posh....too lazy to ebay

Enjoy your curry, I'm VERY I think that could be part of it...I near something nice to perk me up...and a dhansak would really hit the spot I'm easily pleased, especially if you chuck in a veggie nan!

BonzoDoodah · 28/04/2009 17:14

gosh you lot can talk - finding it hard to keep up and remember who to reply to!

I'm going to see We Will Rock You tonght. Hope it's as good as the hype.
Feel like I need a treat after having a GTT this morning. They couldn't find my vein for the third sample and so I ended up being stabbed 5 times!! Arrgg. At least the hospital cafe sold hot toast so I could restock my carbs after not eating for 13 hours.

jw - I was going to suggest eating some fatty stuff - you do need some in your diet and it does help (ahem) lubricate. Or try a load of liquorice or prunes (both yummy in my book and low on fat so healthy too). Will tell you the story of my grandad and the prunes when I have time to type ....

Ermintrude I'm sure I've posted this here before but I'll write it again. M was transverse for ages - I ended up in hospital (they were worried about cord prolapse as I was close to due date). I invented my own baby turning technique after being stuck there for 10 days. In the shower I turned it as cold as I could stand and then directed the water at the baby's head. The head moved away from the water! And down and down until she was pointing downwards. I was very chuffed with myself. May be worth a try if you're getting desperate. You could also look up Optimal Foetal Positioning as that is all about getting your body in the right angle to encourage the baby to naturally lie in the right place.

Tee give it a week now you have the car seat and then you can start being sarcastic back to the coworker. No more biting your tongue!! Hurrah!

sissy0928 · 28/04/2009 17:16

Hang in there, Tee! 3 weeks will fly by!

Thank you Heron! I'm in the US so it's hard to keep in time with you ladies, but I try!

I'm in New Mexico, which borders Mexico, and it's a scary thing to think this swine flu could reach us so easily...we have a lot of immigrants from Mexico, and a lot of them go back and forth across with business or what have you...I've been telling my DD1 to wash her hands as much as possible...she's 13 but you know at that age they touch everything and then their eyes, face!!! Yuck.

ermintrude13 · 28/04/2009 17:33

tee I think some of us had found that leaning back problem with the Bumbo but hadn't heard about it with a Tripp Trapp chair...

Bonzo Thanks, I remember the shower technique you told us about. I'm never exactly sure which bit of baby is where; I need to concentrate and feel around a bit and then I'll try anything. Did some leaning down from the top of the stairs - so my body is facing downwards - and certainly feel a bit more downward pressure after that, so will carry on doing that, along with sitting on an exercise ball, leaning forward, pelvic rocking etc. I just think it must be because it's #3 and has got more space than the first 2!

JW Sounds like you're being admirably ruthless about the clothes. But like JJ I can't be fagged with ebaying at the moment. We have given away a pile of stuff to make room in drawers for baby clothes, so I'll do it in stages as I (hopefully) shrink post-natally. Have a lovely curry tonight

re: yoghurts - I think all the specifically baby/child ones have processed sugar in them which is a bit bonkers. My DC have always liked PF and I used to take them out and about with me, but they also happily ate plain yoghurt, or with pureed fresh fruit, and still do. Now that a toothypeg has appeared, any added sugar is The Enemy

johnworf · 28/04/2009 18:01

I hear ya ermintrude re the sugar aspect which is why I mentioned it. I've noted the Little Stars yoghurts. It's a veritable minefield when it comes to starting LO's on grown up food. You have also reminded me I need to get her a tooth brush for her toothy pegs!

Not heard about Tripp Trapps falling backwards but unsure how this could happen as their design looks like they wouldn't allow it. However, ours backs to a wall and is wedged between that and the dining table so madam won't be going anywhere.

As for the clothes, I just can't be arsed filing through a load of clothes I haven't worn in months and that wouldn't fit me anyway! The philosophy is that less is more (and also a good excuse to get a few more 'new' (i.e. secondhand) things in there

OK mrsb where ya hiding?

sissY sounds like a scary place to be living at the mo.

johnworf · 28/04/2009 18:03

JJ meant to add that for quick and easy bulk selling on Ebay, register with www.auctiva.com. It's free and you get super size pics for nowt.

Tee2072 · 28/04/2009 18:07

It was on here, here's the thread

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 28/04/2009 18:14

OOOoooo jw you star - I'll check that out as I really should slap myself and get on with it. I've got some really nice baby stuff(lashings of Monsoon, Pumpkin Patch) all the stuff that seems to be popular, and I'm thinking of all the other stuff I could get with the proceeds!

Oh I SOOOOOOO really, really everso muchly want, need, desire a curry. Go on - have a hot one...bet that'll shift it quicker than Dyna-Rod Oh and I think Little Stars are doing 20% off ELC vouchers - someone mentioned it today.

bonzo have a fun night out. Gosh - everyone is going out. Oh, I've got a hen night on Friday 8th *starts to get ready in anticipation...

sissy gosh, yes, you're close to Swine Flu central Oh I don't think I'd like Swine Flu - it sounds SO unglamorous, like you'd develop a curly tail, snouty-shaped nose and start going OINK!

Verity is obsessed with putting things into boxes. Now if only I can harness this for my own tidying up then i'll be feeling V smug!
Feeling pleased that Iris has added another food to the short list of things she will eat....it's random and probably not very healthy...yes, it's peppered mackerel. Such an odd child

mrsboogie · 28/04/2009 19:56

Woahh who mentioned curry? OOHH YES PLEASE! I had a pear and three oatcakes for lunch today - I am feeling hollow.

Been busy at work all day - foolishly for some unknown reason I agreed to a meeting with my boss last week on my last Tuesday off - today. From next week D is at nursery three days a week. They are delighted at nursery as they love him - his keyworker told me yesterday that he makes her broody So, anyway, OH had to stay home and look after D who refused all day to take a bottle or eat. Pursed lips all the way. He doesn't seem ill so no idea what's behind it.

I have tons and tons of stuff to ebay - baby stuff and al the clothes that I have amassed for the last yonks that I never wore. Will have to ask jws advice when she is not out stuffing her face with (dry) curry

sissy OMG - How scary for you - hope the swine flu doesn't reach you although it doesn't seem to be doing much harm outside of Mexico.

sissy0928 · 28/04/2009 20:04

Jeanjeannie, I'm rolling on the floor laughing, and then I thought to myself, I almost already feel that way with this little bump!!! Ha!
Thank you johnworf and mrsboogie, They've put out bulletins to be "ready" in case schools are closed, etc...like emergency kits, etc...I don't think it'll come to that point, how crazy!

johnworf · 28/04/2009 23:38

Hey I'm back! smacks lips and shows everyone her curry stain on her top as proof she's been out

Had a tiny bit of sauce with the dry chicken tikka and very nice was too. Sadly, Guy (my friend) brought me a large box of Thornton's continental I so love them but can't eat them. My loss is DH's gain as he's ready to pounce on them Actually Guy made my night; he said that when I came in the pub, he didn't recognise me as I've lost so much weight and 'looked fab'! How sweet is that? DH would never say nice things like that to me.

Am here on hand to offer any advice I have for Ebaying virgins Auctiva is pretty good though and makes bulk selling very easy.

Pursed lips huh mrsb? Awwww. You should let him find crumbs in the carpet and cat hairs. All babies love them and I'm told they have lots of protein in them. Have you tried giving him a soldier of toast? Mebbe he wants to shove it in himself. Organix do some nice rusk type things that are designed for baby fingers to hold Otherwise, put him on the phone to Iris and they can talk fish!

goes off to look at wobbling tripp trapp threads

johnworf · 28/04/2009 23:41

Ok. See that thread. Sounds very odd to me. Ours is up against the wall anyway.

I guess you have to have eyes in your arse with LO's. I'm off to book an eye test tomorrow for mine

jeanjeannie · 29/04/2009 09:11

MOrning all, another interesting night! 4am is the time to party at our house

Running off to a playgroup in an effort to get these two hounds tired and hopefully get some co-ordinated sleep later on as I HAVE to clean this floor! The chalk dust is mounting.

jw I like the sound of your friend Guy, what a fab comment. And I can smell the curry and it smells...Goooooood

MrsB ah yes, the pursed lips. Well, in Verity's case it mean she wanted to do it all herself - and quite early on too. I started with some Organix apple rice cakes and the little finger puffs - that look like cheesy wotsits! Verity often still does it if she sees a spoon coming towards her but will happily much her own way through a pile of steamed veg! She can go for weeks just eating steamed veg and lumps of cod

Right - running off - back later

mrsboogie · 29/04/2009 09:55

morning ladies

well, in this case I don't think that pursed lips means he wants to feed himself - he has only taken about one oz from his bottles since yesterday and all through the night - waking as normal at 12am and 4am for about ten sucks of the bottle then back to sleep. This morning he took 4oz but immediately threw half of it back up. What say ye ladies? teething? or tummy bug? or summat else? he doesn't want milk and food is out of the question. V grumpy and whingy also.

jw delighted to hear that you got a sniffter of curry and more importantly that the new you is being appreciated, at least in some quarters! my OH refuses ever to be drawn on matters of my weight ever (probably a wise move)

I feel thinner but the scales are not saying I am losing much at all...

BonzoDoodah · 29/04/2009 10:01

Hey All - We Will Rock You was Super last night. Had a great time!

sugar in Yogurts - I was a bit obsessive when I weaned M. Looked at the sugar content in petit filous and was a bit gob-smacked at the amount of sugar and crap. I bought Racheals_Organic first yogurts. They have no added sugar - they use fruit juices etc. They are more expensive than other yogurts but I felt better giving M one of those than the other highly marketed and processed crap. All my friends laughed at me of course and called me a hippy. Tough! M adores the mango flavour.

Love the pursed lips. M used to put the back of her hand against her mouth and flap her fingers to push away food she didn't want. If it was really not wanted we had a double-hander. Looked like she's bitten a squid!

tipping trippTrap - wouldn't any chair tip over if the child put their feet up on the table and pushed?? Can't see it's the fault of the chair myself.

sissy - eek at the pig flu near you!

My sister's friend has just come back from holidays and thinks he may have caught pig-flu. He said he's come out in rashers.

johnworf · 29/04/2009 10:06

mrsb sounds like teeth to me although wouldn't explain the throwing up.

K won't have much milk like I said. She loves half apple juice and half water (cooled, previously boiled). Sounds like the night 'feeding' is just a habit as he's not getting anything from that amount.

floria gave me a sachet of the teething granules and they're great although K hasn't been that bad....yet.

Aye, guy is lovely

Wouldn't get too hung up on what the scales are telling you. If you feel like you've lost it, then that's all that counts

mrsboogie · 29/04/2009 10:38

I bought some of the teething granules - haven't used them yet - I can see what Floria calls it baby coke
Should have thought to give him some this morning - what is it meant to do?

it seemed like he threw up because he'd had too much. Like when a tiny baby is a bit greedy and takes in too much milk. He has never done it before. Don't know whether to worry or not.

lol @ the squid bonzo

BonzoDoodah · 29/04/2009 10:40

jj uuuurrrrg 4 am party-time. I'm too old for that kind of thing! (looks at expanding stomach and wails .. what have I done????)

MrdB oh dear at the puking and not eating. Could be teething or a bug or just not hungry today. I agree with jw about the sipping in the night though. how old is he now? May be time to get him to drop that night feed altogether if he's over 5 months (they are supposed to have matured enough by then to last the night without a top-up).

mrsboogie · 29/04/2009 10:55

ah y'see he normally has full bottles through the night - more so than during the day - the not feeeding is only since yesterday

and he is doing "pursed lips" when offered the dummy as well - refused to take it at all last night when normally he can't sleep without it.

It's like he doesn't want anything in his mouth - but he doesn't seem to be in any pain...
