Gee...did I kill the thread?

tee lucky you getting so much sleep during the day!

areyou due in 3 weeks? what kind of birth do you hope to have?

ermintrude13 · 27/04/2009 19:23

lol Tee. I've just been trying to get work done. Had MW home visit today and she confirmed my worry that the babe is transverse/diagonal. Must sort that out - I told DH I need to spend a lot of time on my hands and knees and he agreed that was a good idea . S/he does move about a lot in there so I think that it's longitudinal some of the time but my other 2 had settled head down by this time. Am trying not to worry about it. Anyone else had a transverse LO who righted him/herself near the end??

Tee2072 · 27/04/2009 19:53

no heron I have 2 months. I start my maternity leave in 3 weeks.

I have no expectations for the birth. I just want the baby safely out of me. As a diabetic, its pretty much out of my hands anyway. The most likely scenario is a CS at 38 weeks.

ermintrude I am pretty sure mine is still transverse as well, but no one has said anything to me about it being a problem! Of course, you are due before me!!

OP posts:
johnworf · 27/04/2009 20:21

No transverse with any of mine ermintrude although K was breech and born that way Not too much of a problem at 1.5lbs although she did present bottom first which meant I had a James Herriot moment where I felt like a prize Friesia

They used to turn them manually years ago but I hear that most babies turn themselves back again.

jeanjeannie · 27/04/2009 20:42

Evening all.
bonzo sounds like an action packed weekend and hope you enjoy your bath. We've got one of those with a strange hole for a tap in the centre - you can sit either end and no worry about your toe getting stuck up a tap!

ermintrude nah, sorry no transverse experience I'm afraid. Although talking to my friend with the record breaking delivery time....her DD only turned and dropped last night I went to pregnancy yoga and the all fours position (ooo er missus) was always mooted as the way to move the little blighter.

jw LOL @ at 'prize Friesia' James Herriot - that well known gardener!!

What a day - got caught in a hailstone down pour on way back from friends - I was soaked - so was Verity and she thought it was hilarious!

johnworf · 27/04/2009 20:57

ahem friesian. Parp. Silly typo

sissy0928 · 27/04/2009 21:48

Hey all, hope everyone is well...it's been awhile...

Duchesse, I was getting emails to the same from my sister (step) and finally because it wouldn't stop, marked her as junk email!!

I'm 10 wks tomorrow, had a scan last week, all looks good so far. FS recommended a perinatal specialist, high rish dr. I see the official OBGYN this Thursday and then the high risk in May. Anyone had to see one of these? He said due to not just my age but my hypothyroidism and history of high BP, which has been in the normal range and dr took me off of meds for it.

Tee, how are you? I saw your baby bump pics from the link, very nice! I can't believe how I've already popped, although I actually lost 3 lbs, but have slowly gained it back....no appetite this time around...

duchesse · 28/04/2009 08:54

JW- funny, I was meaning to ask you whether K was breech at this stage, cos this one is still very firmly breech- sometimes I get kicks slightly further up the side of the bump, but it does seem to favour heads up. It's never been head down yet. I don't remember the other three being quite so settled into breech, and they were all cephalic by birth.

johnworf · 28/04/2009 09:04

Duchesse I recall that my older 3 were either transverse or head down. When I say transverse, I'm talking 2nd trimester and by the 3rd, they were all head down so no probs there.

K was always breech. I don't recall finding her on the doppler I hired, head down ever. Mind you, she was 2nd trimester too I do remember her still dancing on my cervix just before she was about to be born and obviously prior to her bottom coming first.

Nothing to report here. Still have the terrible constipation and have taken more of the same stuff GP gave me to see if it works. If not, then I think a stick of dynamite is in order. It's been over a week now I keep thinking of that advert for senna where the woman keeps throwing food in her handbag. Well, I've got a suitcase at the moment.....

mrsboogie · 28/04/2009 09:43

sorry to hear that jw you could always eat something a it fatty! that'd take care of it I'm sure!

I'm still hovering on the 12lbs mark - not much loss this week after drinking on saturday I expect. Must stay dry next weekend!

Tee2072 · 28/04/2009 10:15

Morning all.

jw poor you! Definitely my least favourite part of pregnancy, can't imagine dealing with it for 'no reason' so to speak!

sissy I'm hanging in there. Counting the days until my maternity leave (3 weeks!!) and trying to get nursery in order.

Speaking of which...coworker came through with car seat!! Now can I be mean to her?

OP posts:
johnworf · 28/04/2009 10:38

Hurrah for car seat. Now you can get the voodoo doll and the pins out

mrsb I'm only taking 1 pill a day if that but I'm carrying on eating the same things. My breakfast and lunch don't warrant taking anything. Not weighed yet this week but I'm thinking that the constipation will be slowing the weight loss down. Afterall, that bulk must weight something after a week or so.

Fun time getting nursery ready. Only seems like last week we had decorators in doing K's Personally, I loved picking everything out for her.

new pics today.

heron22 · 28/04/2009 10:53

tee hello i had gestational diabetes when preg with LO. i am ok now. i was on GI diet and everything. no sugar etc. now i still keep sugar intake to a minimum. i've had 2 sections and it is not bad at all. i am lucky i had lots of help and had baby at a top hospital and have lovely obgyn. DH wants another baby but i told him that with section, i have to wait awhile before becoming pregnant again. honestly!

sissy congrats on your preg!

this swine flu is starting to be a worry

Tee2072 · 28/04/2009 10:56

Swine flu should only become a worry, IMHO, when someone in a non-third world country, i.e. US or UK, actually dies from it. Mexico has terrible health care and almost no infrastructure.

The cases here in UK are very mild.

OP posts:
duchesse · 28/04/2009 11:08

I'm wondering whether some other factor, ie an illness or parasite or malnutrition, is interacting the flu in Mexico and causing the deaths. Or whether it's more lethal if you acquire the infection straight from a pig. Or whether the people dying in Mexico just happened to have the flu as well when they died. Or whether access to Tamiflu is what is saving the people getting it in the US Canada and now the UK. There are just too many variables at the moment, and I can't help remembering the panics about SARS and then avian flu which never came to anything.

Tee2072 · 28/04/2009 11:20

Exactly duchesse. There are too many variables, which is why the experts, i.e. not the Daily Mail!! keep saying 'we don't know.' They don't know.

But panic isn't going to help anything.

OP posts:
heron22 · 28/04/2009 11:40

tee duchesse you are both so right. i did read the daily mail today!

ok, going to make myself feel better by doing some internet shopping! buying new sleepsuits for LO, he is growing so fast, socks and sandals for DS1.

duchesse · 28/04/2009 12:00

On a more serious note, I am about to eat a fish finger sandwich for lunch. Apparently I am over yesterday's nausea...

heron22 · 28/04/2009 12:36

duchesse i love fish finger sandwiches!

my LO is constipated
he has reflux and his feed has added gaviscon in it. it is causing him to be backed up. i have reduced the gaviscon dosage and started giving him drinks of water. still goes red in the face straining, my poor puppet.

if he does not improve, might have to get glycerine suppositories.

jeanjeannie · 28/04/2009 14:36

cor - just had lunch....MMMm, muslei...nice

jw smashing pics of K there...looking like she's enjoying her playnest. Sorry to hear about the bunged up bum Gosh, no words of advice really, usually a strong coffee does it for me, but a weeks worth...MMMmm *scratches chin. I could send you a long copper rod thing that we have for going right down the plug holes and swishing out hairs....that may do the trick Sorry, I'm being unkind, I imagine it's bloody uncomfy AND adding pounds to your weight loss Ggggrrrrr

Duchesse I was obsessed with fish finger sandwiches when preggie - can't look at them now!

tee congrats on getting the car seat...now, let the bitchy remarks commence

heron glycerine suppositories! Oh, I thought they were something my nanna used to talk about and not really real!

Off to steam clean the floor. The glamour...it never stops. Oh and my friend came home last night with the baby - she of the one with the ultra fast (no tears, scrapes or scratches) birth. She sent pics today and I can't believe how glamorous she looks (mum, not the baby) and the DD is called Erin. Love that name. SWeeeeeeet x

hedgepig · 28/04/2009 14:46

yummmm fishfinger sandwiches even nicer in pitta bread I think!

I'm playing on our new laptop it is very swish, I am being hampered by Ollie pulling my hair ouch!

love the name Erin too JJ

johnworf · 28/04/2009 14:56

Nice name Jj. Considering the copper wire suggestion but think Dyno-rod may be needed. Actually, the stuff from GP kinda worked this morning so think another dose might be in order. Feels lb's lighter already.

heron K has been on infant Gaviscon since she could sup milk. Her rear end has no problem with expulsion though so might be worth checking it's not the meds. Btw, lactulose used to be good for LO's with constipation.

Just noticed lots of poo talk in my post already so..........

..........swift change of subject methinks. Just got back from Costco with NO cakes . Didn't help with DH asking me if I wanted cake several times Git.

K has been enjoying her playnest and just when I think she'll sit up, she lurches backwards as though she's doing the Fosby Flop. Lays there over the over-inflated sides, upside down head looking at your shoes I dunno. I give up.

Started her on the petit filous little yogs today and seems she likes them. Was a bit unsure if I could give them to her as I suspect they contain cow's milk. Have I given her a potential belly ache??

JJ the tripp trapp is going down great guns but every night it needs hosing down in caustic soda as my DD just flings food around. Any tips on cleaning product best to use? Currently just using the bog standard dettol spray (which I clean almost everything with, including the dog).

johnworf · 28/04/2009 14:56

hegepig pulling hair seems to be a fun game in our house too. So is slapping the face and pulling the specs off
