Oh dear Tee, and over the dishwasher of all things. I bet that 'good!' hurt . Hope you have a harmonious domestic evening tonight.

JJ yes, Birds is on The Avenue. Very nice for fresh rolls, famous gingerbread men and a little cafe at the back where you can drink milky coffee and eat scones with the blue-rinse brigade. Have a great break in what is at the moment very sunny Nottingham!

heron sorry to hear DS threw a wobbly at school. It's very possible that, as Tee said, it's to do with having to say goodbye to you while the baby goes home with you. Firstly, I think it's good that the teacher helped get him into school and let you know he was OK, because once you start letting them stay off school it gives out all sorts of wrong messages. And secondly, my first instinct wouldn't be to withold treats because if he's feeling vulnerable that could make things worse. Getting him to help with the baby if he wants to is a good idea - under supervision of course - and telling him how much you look forward to him coming home from school because he's such a helpful boy, and you do enjoy hearing about what he's been doing, and giving him lots of cuddles and attention, would be my first move. My DD was 4.5 and had just started school part time when I had DS and although she was never clingy, she certainly went through a phase of wanting to be 'babied' a bit more than usual, at the same time as wanting to help with her baby bro. It can be a really lovely time, having one at school and a babe at home, and I'm sure that your DS will settle soon.

How's everyone else? I'm going to have lunch with a friend who will probably down 3 large glasses of pinot grigio while I sip my water.. but she's good company.

mrsboogie · 21/04/2009 10:34

mornin all

Off work today although meant to be working from home got a horrible task to a horrible deadline so will see how things go...

tee I had a row mu OH the other day in the street over something very silly - we have never done that before - it was conducted in fairly hushed tones but its the first time in six or seven years!

One's weightloss is now at around 11lbs! must start exercising.Don't think I look much different though - so not sure where its coming off

heron sounds like your DS is having a little wobble- perhaps he is feeling that life is terribly unfair what with him being expected to be grown up now and go off to school every day when some interloping little brother has come along and stolen his place as the baby. Poor wee fella

johnworf · 21/04/2009 13:40

Afternoon ladies. Brilliant news mrsb on the weight loss. Not done mine this week as I'm waiting until Thursday - taking it to 1 week after GP did it last. I think I've gone through my plateau phase which he warned me about. Losing only a pound or so per week. However, I have had quite a few comments this week about how I've lost weight so maybe I've broken through this. Also notice that Alli goes on sale today. Already the press are on to it. I'm keeping mouth firmly shut about the ones I'm taking while it all dies down.

JJ Hope you have a fab time at ma and pa Jeannie's house Hope they spoil you rotten (after the girls of course)

Bit of regressing, babying and clingyness are all part of having another baby. My DD#1 wanted to go back to having a bottle when DS#1 was born - and she was 3! Anyway, I indulged her for a week or so, then she tired of it and carried on as before.

I had a row with DH in the Trafford Centre last week due to miscommunication of meeting place. I didn't do it in hushed tones I'm afraid and ended up calling in a b*stard in the car park ...well he was! Waited until kids in the car first and doors were shut.

tee it's your hormones kicking in too so don't worry about it. If you're anything like me, you'll want to divorce your DH every week until LO is 6 months old Slight exaggeration but not far wrong.

DH cranked the video camera into life y'day and played everything that was left on there; holidays from 2-3 years ago and at the end, Katherine aged 2 days old, all wired up in her incubator. God, I cried and I'm welling up thinking about it. She'll be 1 next month but it brought it all back to me.

BonzoDoodah · 21/04/2009 13:44

JJ enjoy your trip to Nottingham. I didn't discover Birds while I was there ... will have to investigate on my next trip home.

Shell Island is lovely! But there are some buts .... there is one central toilet block and shop and restaurant etc. But for teh rest of the site - as the soil is quite shallow and it is a rugged/ natural site - the other toilets scattered round are portaloos. I personally don't mind them but some people freak. I think it is quite crowded in the summer holidays and can become full - no more people allowed on - as they havea rule about tents only being allowed I think 20m from eachother unless you know the other people. A great rule! (Especially after enduring a snoring GIT who camped literally a foot away from my tent once and then snored all night - aaaaaaaaa!

But anyway there are huge soft sand-dunes and a wonderful sandy beach and it is just great.

mrsboogie · 21/04/2009 14:41

oh yes, jj missed your post - have a lovely time!

jw a year already - K has done so well! I remember your post saying you were off on hols then coming on a few days later and saying she had been born. What a year eh?

I haven't told anyone about the Xenical either but then I am the fattest person I know so I'm not going to draw attention to the issue. I wasn't warned about any plateauing - mind you I knew more about it than the doctor did - she had to look them up in a book and said she had never prescribed them before. Which is funny because the surgery is right in the middle of a council area and every last young mum you see there is very very fat. Is the plateau a temporary thing then?

heron22 · 21/04/2009 14:45

ermin, tee, mrsb, jw thank you for your advice. ur all correct, DS1 is just starting to feel left out a bit cos LO is always with me. etc. since LO was born he wanted to kind of regress to being a wee baby sometimes
he loves "milky in a bottle".

swimming with LO was just great. he took to swimming really well. what i meant was he did not cry and let me hold him

on the way home from swimming, did run into DS1, he was on his way back from the park with teachers and classmates. he looked rather contrite and eyes a bit down etc. so i made sure i gave him big hug and he wanted to kiss his baby. which he did. so sweet. i told him i am going home to make his dinner then i will pick him up from school. he was happy with that. he has got such good teachers.

another super lovely day. today i am wearing tee shirt with skirt and flip flops!

how summery is that!!!

tee poor you having a tiff. i hate it when i have tiff with DH. but it is all part of a loving relationship!
mrsb good luck with work

johnworf · 21/04/2009 15:48

mrsb yep it's temporary. Apparently your body goes into stavation mode and clings onto all the fat it can but then it soon realises it's not starving and starts buring fat again. He said I'll hit a few plateaus on the way.

Btw, chavvy people aren't that bothered (seems to me) in losing weight. Too many pies/chips to be had.

Tee2072 · 21/04/2009 19:43

Saw OB and Endo today. Everything measuring spot on!! Baby apparently weighs 4 lbs. How the hell can they tell that from a 2d scan?!?!

It was nice to see it again. Even saw its little face, but still don't know its gender!!

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 21/04/2009 20:38

good news tee - what a good baby! so you don't know the sex? I wondered whether you knew or not. Did you and DH get anywhere with choosing a shortlist of names?

Tee2072 · 21/04/2009 20:47

Nope, don't know the sex. DH and I agreed to wait!

Names? What is this names thing you speak of?

OP posts:
johnworf · 21/04/2009 20:54

tee sizing scans are notoriously inaccurate so take them with a pinch of salt.

Think K's gnashers are finally coming as she's been a grump all day.

Yeah mrsb can't believe it's almost a year ago that she was born. It's gone very quick apart from the first 4 months which seemed like a lifetime in themself.

The church is now booked for the 24th May so it'll be a joint celebration of non-christening and birthday. Might as well seeing as the family will already be gathered - saves on two parties as well Started being asked what she/I want for a gift but can't think of anything and really don't want a pile of clothes I'll end up taking back so am thinking of either John Lewis or Next vouchers. Pretty straight forward methinks.

Treated myself today to a beautiful cashmere scarf/wrap that I've had my eye on for ages in M&S but couldn't bring myself to pay £40 for. It featured on a previous thread a while back if anyone remembers it. It was when I took it to the till to ask the price and nearly fainted when they told me. Well anyway, bagged it brand new on Ebay for £15 inc P&P. Very pleased I am too.

iris66 · 21/04/2009 20:57

Hi ladies - goodness! so much has been going on!! and it's so long since I've been able to get to a computer!!!! DD was home for a week at easter and hogged my laptop proofreading/correcting her b/f's dissertation and DH didn't get the main PC connected to our new network until just before he left (only 5 weeks to go but already I'm feeling guilty that I'm sleeping better - more room/going to bed earlier but am missing him madly already )

Tee - I'm so glad all went well today. (I've 11 weeks to go !! - wonder who it will be, you or ermintrude, next ) I think you've done really well not to have had any major fallouts until now btw! - I was like Freddie Kruger on acid with both DS' (I'm chilled as a chilled thing with this one - a girl- so clearly it was all the testosterone that buggered me up!). During one incident - one that I am particularly ashamed of - I threw a full pint glass of water across the room at him for saying "here we go again" when I kicked off on one of my frequent rants

mrsb - fab news on the weight loss! I can't even begin to think how hard it must be to restrict yourself so much - even when I had gestational diabetes with the boys, and had to go on a low GI diet or go on insulin (and it nearly killed me - it was extremely low GI - but it worked) at least I had choice/options. Bloody well done you
With you on the "non breathing baby" episode. Even DH had to prod DS2 the other night as he apparently just stopped breathing in the middle of DH checking him before we turned in and he's 18mths!! It's definately a plus side to co-sleeping that you can prod whenever you like.

I can't remember who was having probs with their bowels but I can pretty much guarantee that a decent reflexology session will sort you out

no time to catch up further tonight but hope everyone is enjoying the gorgeous weather - I actually got my pins out - nearly blinding the neighbours - this afternoon, so desparate am i to turn from blue to that lovely golden hue I see on everyone around me.
night all x

Tee2072 · 21/04/2009 20:59

Yeah, I knew that JW. I was watching the scan (obviously) and it said '31 weeks 4 days +/- 12 days' 12 days? That's a huge margin of error! And very pretty scarf/wrap! Did you get it in black?

OP posts:
iris66 · 21/04/2009 21:07

ps - does anyone else drool over Marco Pierre White (on Hell's kitchen) obviously, in a perverse way, and Jean Christophe Novelli - in a purely rampant, OMG I really wouldn't kick him out of bed, kind of way? or is it my hormones getting the better of me? (I did have a very erotic dream about the bloke that plays Guy of Gisbourne in Robin Hood the other night...

johnworf · 21/04/2009 21:26

iris it was my bowels and thankfully, the stuff the GP gave me is working and I feel much better. Btw, I had a reflexology session a few months back and rather enjoyed it so may book another (although didn't see any marked improvement in my bowels that time).

tee yes I got it in black I'm very excited to be getting it after lusting for many months over it!

MPW doesn't do it for me I'm afraid. He's a pantomime villain to me. There's nothing about him I find attractive. In fact, I think he's a bully. I can appreciate JCN though and am with you on the 'it'd be rude not to shag him until his head fell off'

tee I think the margin of +/- 12 days tells you all you need to know

mrsboogie · 21/04/2009 21:48

oooh JCN - a definite would but MPW no way - he so overacts on hell' kitchen. Does anyone know who the little girl was with Gary Lineker visiting Danielle thingummy? is it her daughter? I am like Ade.

tee I was told D was over 10lbs and he was 7lbs 15!

D went for a nap this evening and when he came back down he started doing a whole new chatting thing - lots of consonants and mamama, bababa sounds which he has never done before. Just like that!

I remember the scarf/wrap conversation jw - very nice. I would never ever spot something on ebay like that. A little spot of luxury.

Tee2072 · 22/04/2009 10:03

Morning all!

Yeah, I am taking all scan information with a grain of salt. Maybe with a whole shaker.

I've never seen hell's kitchen and have no idea who that is, so I can't comment!

mrsb when my nieces were babies, my brother used to say all the time that he could tell when their little brains had been improving during sleep!! He said it was like you could see the synapses firing!!

OP posts:
johnworf · 22/04/2009 10:54

Morning all. Think your bro is right tee. And I think that things just 'click' sometimes. Probably due to brain growth. I can see it with K at times.

Katherine is saying 'hiya' which is what DH says to her all the time She's been saying dada for a couple of weeks but it's always when you least expect it. So I go back to her to get her to repeat and she just grins and you know she won't do it again until your back is turned. Sneaky!

So, news for today (cue the fanfare) K has a tooth! I knew she was grumpy yesterday for a reason as she's normally very laid back. Anyway, dose of Calpol before bed and didn't hear a peep until this morning so very surprised when I poked my finger in there to find sharp peggy. Coinciding nicely with me changing her up to lumpy food. I've been trying her the past week and she seems to be tolerating well so we're officially off the mush.

What's going on down Coronation Street? Everyone is pregnant or have partners that are. I see that Maria (samia smith) is now pregnant. At this rate they'll all be on maternity leave! Just Emily and Rita left in the cabin..........with Norris of course.

I'm off to meet floria very soon and have a lovely lunch at Slattery's. Will be ordering the christening cake I showed you all whilst I am there. Another job done. Tick

hedgepig where are you dear? Are you AWOL?

ermintrude13 · 22/04/2009 10:58

Morning all

Iris I love Guy of Gisbourne too. DD and I think he's much better than Robin. Rather worryingly, when she was 8 and had watched the last one from the Lord of the Rings trilogy on DVD she said it was a good film because it had 'really good fighting and plenty of handsome men.' . That's why I like it!
I quite like the look of MPW but haven't seen him in action on the telly so can only go on those photos that accompany features in the Sunday papers, in which he looks rather dishy.

Mrsb great weight loss! Have you been playing Baby Einstein tapes to D in his sleep? . My sister and a close friend both had babies in Oct who will be in the same school year as my June LO and DH is already saying we'd better get some flashcards and start using them straight after the birth, otherwise s/he will be an under-achiever by comparison . I think he's joking

Good cashmere bargain JW, it's such a satisfying feeling. Glad your bowels are improving.

I'm doing lots of baby clothes washing today despite not feeling particularly 'nesty'. It would be criminal to waste this weather

johnworf · 22/04/2009 11:23

ermintrude your DD obviously takes after her mother with her opinion of LoTR!

Here's a link to an article on DM website about giving LO's flat coke/lemonade for tummy bugs. Don't know much about this as have never given any of mine coke nor lemonade, flat or otherwise when they've been ill.

Also another link to article about drinking in pregnancy. Just passing these on for anyone interested. Not read them properly so don't have an opinion on them as yet.

heron22 · 22/04/2009 11:39

jw ah how gorgeous, your LO has a tooth another big milestone!

such a gorgeous day today! been wearing flip flops, skirt, tee shirt. been having picnic dinner out in the garden. after i pick DS1 from school we go straight to garden and he has his dinner and play with his friends. lovely

i hope this is sign of the summer we are about to have!!!

about to buy our one way ticket to sydney, we're leaving London late Jan 2010 for good. will be sad to leave our friends. but it is time to go home!

peachyfox · 22/04/2009 12:04

Hello everyone. JW congrats on the new tooth!

Thanks for your good wishes on my scan. I really can't wait.

I've been dying to know the sex since day one and DP has always said, it's up to you. Then last night he sat me down as said he really didn't want to know beforehand and seeing as I've never kept a secret in my life we've decided not to find out. Boo!

Glad you're all enjoying some lovely weather, you all sound like me, any hint of sun and the flipflops come out!

mrsboogie · 22/04/2009 13:04

morning all

Fab day here (we had the highest temp in the UK here in York on Monday -a rare occurence indeed. Am at work so weather is no use to me.

No ermintrude no flashcards or other hothousing techniques will be empoyed here - far too idle I'm afraid. All brain improvements are to be left to mother nature to arrange.

jw hurrah - a toothy peg. Sounds like you and K didn't come off to badly either. After the screaming fits we had with the first one every time D gets grumpy now OH says "he'd better not be getting another tooth" as if it were optional

heron are you both Australian then?

peachy I don't know how any woman could be able to keep the sex secret from her partner - it would be jumping from my lips 24/7!

duchesse · 22/04/2009 13:52

Hello all.

iris66 · 22/04/2009 14:14

DS1 at pre-school and DS2 neatly tucked up in his cot. Kitchen floor desparately needs a clean but I've been overcome by an anti-nesting feeling (can'tbearseditis) I may just watch last night's recording of Hell's kitchen; to admire, again, the vaguely vulpine and disturbingly hypnotic attraction that is MPW

I'm very of your weather mrsb. After a glorious day yesterday we've wall to wall clouds here today (and me in my flippy skirt and flip flops too (white, goose bumpy legs and blue toes do not a good look make BTW )

It's wonderful when LOs start really chattering isn't it, though one thing has always perplexed me; namely, why is it that "dada" is easier to say but then they always start calling everyone "mama" (DH gets a tad grumpy over this )

jw congratulations on the new tooth. It's a real face changing time isn't it. - love the scarf/wrap you got. Bargain! I've been a sucker for scarves since the children started breaking all my necklaces - they make handy emergency slings too

re: the reflexology - it can take up to 3 sessions for you to see a distinct and consistent improvement (I'm a qualified/registered reflexologist) digestion is always a big thing for me so I tend to really work all the hormone/bowel areas on a client's feet anyway - to good effect, apparently Hope you have a good lunch!
