Morning all.

Well, you know it is going to be a great week when you are updating your company's website, hit update...and the page goes blank. Can I go back to bed?

Hope everyone's day is better than mine!!

morning all

What a glorious day to not be at work

err yeah... baked means may not feature on my menu plans for some time...

D woke us for three feeds in the night - am frazzled. Took him onto bed to stop him mithering and woke up later on and he was in such a deep sleep you couldn't tell he was breathing - even with a hand on his chest. Frightened his poor mummy, he did.

jeanjeannie · 20/04/2009 13:31

Afternoon - just having first sit down of the day [whacked out emoticon]

tee Oh dear - that's a bad start to the day

hedgepig hope you're not drowning under a sea of washing! Yes, ladymac had a little girl - Emmeline (sp?) and had her home birth too with no traumas

heron good job you checked eh! I LOVE going swimming with LOs - hard with 2 as you've got to go with someone. Iris loves the water - probably better in it than she is on dry land! Fab ebaying there with the bebepod!

mrsB how awful....and naughty D! I have NO idea how you're functioning in a work environment on such little sleep....have a badge...you're a stronger woman than me.

floria that's a great pic of A! Sometimes a boy just can't get close enough to the action.

jw we're debating tents......probably a Vango Diablo....but which one? ah....that's the debate.

I must put up a pic if I get time of Iris at the party on Saturday....daddy gave her the microphone while he played the theme tune to charlie & Lola and she just kept shouting...Charlie! .....Lola! Soooooo cute

BonzoDoodah · 20/04/2009 13:45

MrsB - gosh that must have een scary. Hope you didn't freak out.

We love camping - we have a big tent and go to Shell Ilsnad a lot - you can camp inthe sand-dunes and it is wonderful. I've always loved it - waking up with the fresh air and smell of fresh grass. And sitting outside in the evenings with all that sky ... blissssss.

johnworf · 20/04/2009 13:46

JJ we've got the Diablo 600. It takes around 1.5 hours to erect. Longer with DSS helping

mrsb oooh that naughty little D scaring you like that If that'd been me, you would have heard me panicing from your living room. Glad everything is fine

It's just so beautiful outside. Washing is on the line and I've just returned from emptying Next. Omg the girls clothes in there are divine. Not sure about the boys as I've no need to look there but if they're as nice as the girly stuff, go for it ladies!

peachyfox · 20/04/2009 13:53

MrsB what a shock - what a lot of worries await me!

I love camping, mostly because there is no talk of internet connections and the like. Although I expect goretex will be bringing out a mobile network soon..

DP is very keen on getting one of those child seats for the back of his bicycle. I'm unsure how safe they are but don't really know anything about it. Do any of you use them?

JJ the baked bean thing !

ermintrude13 · 20/04/2009 13:58

I'm sure we've talked tents before. We have the Diablo 800 and the 2 of us can erect it in an hour if it's not windy. The tension bands are great but you have to make sure they're all straightened out before starting, otherwise you'll get in a pickle.

Bonzo a friend of mine was raving about Shell Island, where she spent all of her summers - must go there, sounds fab.

mrsboogie · 20/04/2009 14:04

peachy with York being a cycling city you see them everywhere, plus people pulling little trailers with toddlers in behind their bikes and all sorts. Never hear of any accidents with them but I couldn't be doing it mysef - wouldn't trust myself or the car drivers!
Last time I went camping, in Cornwall, it was really warm and I remember waking up in a suffocating tent like an oven.

plus, there was no place to put on my make up of a morning...

jeanjeannie · 20/04/2009 14:15

jw get us and our labels....'Diablo', 'Doblo', 'Berlingo'

DP used to be a Venture Scout leader.. So his idea of bliss is performing an erection in high winds, half way up a mountain..
So - the Diablo 600 / 800 gets the thumbs up....fab!

peachy DP has a kiddie seat on the bike. Trouble is it's a mountain bike - so poor Iris has her face right in DPs bum She's not keen on the helmet. We've sort of gone off it - which has amazed me as I though DP would enjoy it. I just think he's not keen on being on the roads with her. Reckon it'll come camping with us though!

Where is Shell Island? - I'm fascinated

jw I daren't go to Next...just daren't!

Tee2072 · 20/04/2009 14:20

Afternoon all.

mrsb how scary! What fun I have to look forward to in 9 weeks!

jj I may never eat baked beans again...

JW I was looking at the Next website. So cute, those clothes!

My back aches like crazy today. Can't decide if I over did it over the weekend or if its BH contractions. Either way, it frackin' hurts!

OP posts:
johnworf · 20/04/2009 15:25

jj just imagining your DP

"........So his idea of bliss is performing an erection in high winds, half way up a mountain"

peachyfox · 20/04/2009 16:17

I thought that little bit of naughtiness would not go unnoticed JJ!

I camped with DP at Glastonbury two years ago and his poorly performed erection was nearly the end of our happy union - our row had all our neighbours tittering.

I'm getting quite nervous because we have our 20 week scan on Thursday, can't wait to see our baby and really hope everything's OK.

Tee I bet you're counting the days now - hope your back isn't too bad and you get to put your feet up.

johnworf · 20/04/2009 16:26

tee don't recall getting BH in my back. Usually in my bump - painless tightenings. Sounds like you've might have overdone things. Don't forget all your weight is now concentrated at the front so your back is working incredibly hard.

JJ get us with our designer labels meh!

BonzoDoodah · 20/04/2009 17:13

ahhh camping at Glastonbury is an altogether different matter! If you can find space for the tent then you're doing well. We cheated last year and took a towing caravan - it was pure luxury! Not hauling stuff through the fields ... except the buggy!

at doing it halfway up a mountain in a high wind.

Shell_Island is halfway down the Welsh coast - near Barmouth. Is a bit basic - but gorgeous beaches and gives you the wild feeling without the wilderness.

So is there a sale on at Next? Do I need to go at lunchtime tomorrow??

heron22 · 20/04/2009 18:34

hi jj cant see myself taking 2 kids swimming! but i guess i will have to learn

ladies, this morning i realised that in order to take LO to his first swim class, i will need to put on a pair of swimmers myself!

so i really did not want to ruin my mood by putting on my usual swimwear, so i put on my pregnancy one! well, it was very big and loose. but i prefer that to putting on a pair that would make me look like a stuffed sausage. i need to lose another stone to feel comfy. i have cut down on the sugars and cakes and have lost 1.7kgs in a week. DH is a fitness fanatic and likes to know how many % body fat he has, so we have this fangle dangle bathroom scale, accurate to 2 decimal places. great for weighing LO. i hardly go to the clinic to have him weighed. such an effort and the queue is always long!

expressing milk again! and will have to give DS1 a bath as he is all mucky from his lovely play in the garden this afternoon. the weather is so lovely at the mo!

hope everyone is having a good evening

mrsboogie · 20/04/2009 18:59

Was in Next yesterday looking at sunhats - the girly stuff (I cruised up and down oohing and aaahing at at it all ) is fab, gorgeous but for boys - its a bit meh -the usual pale blue ensembles. I bought one nice t-shirt for D and some nice coloured socks.

I see that jj's DP has been getting us in a lather again

9 weeks tee getting close now! I don't know if this is correct but it always seems to me that you are the only one so far who has been on this thread for her entire pregnancy (since I joined anyway)

Tee2072 · 20/04/2009 20:02

mrsb I think ermintrude has as well, since we are both due in June and she's been here at least as long as I have!!

Good luck at the scan peachy! Do let us know how it goes!

I've got OB/Endo myself tomorrow. Oh the joys of uncomfortable chairs whilst waiting forever!

OP posts:
ermintrude13 · 20/04/2009 20:15

Ah yes, it feels like i've been on here for years but it really is only about the same time as Tee. Mumsnet caught me in those early weeks of pregnancy where you really want to tell everyone but can't, and so the thrill of spilling the beans to complete strangers is acute . And then you're hoooked...

Tee, why not squat, kneel by the chairs and pant a lot? I bet they'd see you quicker

peachy, I used one of those high-backed rigid seats for the back of my bike with DS from when he was a little under a year old, and it was really useful for local trips as well as a few longer family bike rides once DD could cycle on her own. They have pretty heavy-duty screw fittings and never worked loose or felt dodgy. DS used to like to 'help' indicate though, and would fling his arms out with some force, which made balancing slightly tricky, but you get used to using your momentum well and we used it until he was nearly 4 and too big a lump for me to pedal around.

Stormfly · 20/04/2009 20:35

peachy - good vibes to you for the scan!

ermintrude - when did you announce to your dcs (I think you said yours are similar ages to mine)? We are trying to wait the 12 weeks so only 3 weeks to go. Hope they will be pleased.

ermintrude13 · 20/04/2009 21:02

Ooh yes, meant to say good luck for Thurs peachy - v exciting!

Stormfly we didn't tell a soul until after the first scan which was at 12wks 6days. Because our DC were 10 and 6 and very much on the ball it would have seemed odd to tell anyone else first - and we couldn't risk our local friends talking about it in earshot of their own DC - so we just kept completely schtum until then, gave them the news with the scan photos and then made lots of phonecalls/texts/emails to let friends and family know.

They were really delighted and excited - I think if you get into teenage years the news is more complicated but for our DC the reaction was wholly positive, and still is. I'm sure yours will be thrilled. I'm 32 weeks on Weds and just can't wait now...

jeanjeannie · 21/04/2009 07:46

Morning all.

Just putting the finishing touches to the packing - anyone would think we were crossing continents and not going up to Nottingham for a few days!

My mum's 80th birthday tomorrow - so I've sorted out the cake. It from her fave bakers, Birds....I believe there is one near you ermintrude ...may I recommend their elephant's feet....SO good! Flowers have been ordered and I'm off to a garden centre in a moment to get her a rose bush.

Pleased that my DP has amused you all but I apologise for the baked bean story - I can see how that would put you off.

peachy good luck for the scan and how lovely to be seeing your LO

bonzo you are a wild, hippy child I'm LOVING the look of shell island - we're now seriously considering it for our hols! My family are along the coast just a bit further up (I ran naked with Bryn Terfel when I was little...his family, my cousins & grandad were almost the only inhabitants of Pant Glas! Don't remember him singing though - although I've probably got pictures )

heron walk away from those scary scales! Remember, you're the one who's had the DC - your body is allowed to have a wobble. ALways weigh after expressing....I'm sure that milk weighs a ton!!

RIght, off to finish packing etc - may pop in before I got - If not...ta ta and see you Friday

heron22 · 21/04/2009 09:13

jj morning! yes will weigh after expressing

having a terrible morning today. this morning LO starts his swim class which starts at 10am. so the usual is for me to take DS1 to his school. not sure why but he refused to put on his own shoes, saying he could not do it etc. wants me to do it. i refused and said if he did not do it, he would go to time out. anyway, he eventually did it. we walked to school fine. then at the gate, there was a note saying "dear parents, suncream and hat please". i read it out loud and that put off DS1 cos i did not have suncream and hat with me for him to take to school. and from then on, things went downhill. he started crying, refused to go in etc. cut long story short, teacher had to prised him hands off the buggy handle and physically carried him inside DS1 was in tears. now i am back home expressing milk, and typing this. teacher called just before saying that DS1 is ok.

DS1 is nearly 5 and this kind of behaviour is just not on. i need to talk to him about it this afternoon. do you ladies think he should lose some privelege over this kind of behaviour? advice please ? thanks!

Tee2072 · 21/04/2009 09:27

Morning all!

JJ have a fab trip! Looking at the mountains of stuff waiting for organization in our baby's room, I am not surprised packing is such a chore! I'm meant to be taking baby back to the States later this year to meet my family, maybe I'll cancel!!

heron Has DS1 become more difficult since baby was born? I know my niece, who was 3 at the time, so a bit younger, acted out a bit when her little sister was born. What helped for her was letting her help with the baby. And seeing as I have no children yet, feel free to ignore any and all advice I may give!

Had a horrid screaming match last night with DH over, of all the stupid things, how to load the dishwasher. We almost never fight, never mind yell at each other. Did not make for a nice evening. Doesn't help that I'm a bit blue again, which he knows, and he has apologized all over himself, since he started it!! MEN! Who needs them? He did admit this morning that he throat hurt, to which I replied, 'good!'
