OMG!!! HURRAH!!! Welcome Emmeline - ladymac that's fantastic news. SO pleased you had your lovely home birth and all went well.....and THREE HOURS! Cor - us old girls certainly know a text book birth eh?!

Gorgeous, gorgeous name - sounds all poetical and like something you'd find in the 1901 census....simply lovely. So now 'Betsey' has an 'Emme' playmate!!

Just brilliant news - well done you xxx

I shall catch up with the thread later - didn't get back till late last night and have, as I suspected I would, overdosed on MIL's baked cheesecake

heron22 · 14/04/2009 10:31

CONGRATS ladymac well done !

iris ur right, no one is perfect. thing is, you know ur mum loves you

mrsboogie · 14/04/2009 12:17

Oh My God! Have been popping on every morning to see the ladymac news and totally forgot this morning and there it is! Congratulations ladymac and Emmeline

Sounds like a most satisfactory birth experience for all concerned. And such lovely romantic names.

So happy for you. Can't wait to see pics.

xx

Tee2072 · 14/04/2009 12:59

Congratulations ladymac and welcome to the world emmeline!!! What a fabulous short birth you had.

As for me, been to Ikea, cot and mattress purchased, waiting on delivery.

Bummed because they did not have the other cupboard I wanted for baby storage.

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 14/04/2009 13:25

which mattress did you get tee? the one OH' s dad got at Ikea to go with the cot is rock hard. What's yours like?

Tee2072 · 14/04/2009 13:27

Its the thickest one they make, mrsb and seems very springy!!

I do need to buy sheets, though, as I thought all of Ikea's were ugly!!

Triggles · 14/04/2009 13:32

Congrats ladymac!!

Sorry, been MIA, and have to read back to catch up. Have been in hospital with nasty gastroenteritis that wreaked havok on my system and required fluids. Home, but still exhausted and sick. I swear, I have obviously annoyed the maternity gods, as they have done a whammy on me this pregnancy!

Hope everyone is doing okay, will go catch up on reading.

BonzoDoodah · 14/04/2009 13:37

Congratulations ladymac!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wonderful news on the birth of Emmeline .... so, so glad you had the home-birth you wanted and that all went well. Super news. Now all we need are photos!!!

johnworf · 14/04/2009 13:52

Flying post.

Excellent news ladymac. So pleased that all went smoothly and that both you and LO are doing splendidly

triggles hope you're feeling better now

tee best sheets I have are from M&P. Good quality.

Couple of latest pics of K on here and a couple more on my FB.

Speak more later. Actually working today

Tabitha8 · 14/04/2009 16:32

Yes, Iris I'm enjoying (almost) every minute of these last two months. Hope you are, too .
Congratulations to Ladymac; Emmeline is a really pretty name. A three hour labour would suit me just fine .

heron22 · 14/04/2009 19:40

hi ladies, i am very weepy at the mo. just finished reading a post on the pregnancy section titled Termination. so so sad.

mrsboogie · 14/04/2009 20:11

heron whatever you do don't read the one entitled pregnant again after a termination for Downs. It is truly heartbreaking.

johnworf · 14/04/2009 20:25

Think I'll avoid both of those threads.

Today has really flown by. Actually had some orders and it's picked up. At long last!

Anyone read the Magyk books by Angie Sage? Just ordered the first one.

Can't believe how tired I am today. Think it'll be an early night. Virgin ++ Hells Kitchen but not had chance to watch it. No chance tonight to catch up as the bloomin' footy is on

Was unsuprised to see that Natalie Cassidy has admitted that she took laxatives when she lost all of her weight. No big mystery as to how she's piled it all back on then.

Tee2072 · 14/04/2009 20:31

Yeah, I don't read those threads.

Ug, back to work tomorrow. And DH has the rest of the week off and is totally rubbing it in! Evil man!

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 14/04/2009 20:47

I'm not back 'til Weds (giving the petridish nursery a miss this week)

D got up at 8am today and has had no nap apart from 5 mins when he fell asleep in the buggy on the way back from the park. Has been put to bed several times to no avail.

And now he is hyper and looks slightly demented

johnworf · 14/04/2009 21:07

nods Overtired.

Think K has the opposite problem to D. She needs a lie down after every meal. She's takes after her dad

tee give him a list of jobs to do while you're in work. That'll wipe the smile off his face.

iris66 · 14/04/2009 21:17

Tabitha - I'm really ready to have my body back now (especially as I've been either pg or bf since May 2005) but acutely aware that I wont be doing this again, ever. It's a wierd feeling. I'm savouring, yet grumbling about, every aspect. My last labour was 2hrs 40 mins so I'm now trying to focus on having a nice quick finish

Tee - obviously a good day for ikea . I was trotting round our local one with DD this morning. My all time best buy from there is their cheapo plastic high chair. Brilliant. We sold an overpriced super fandangle useless crumb and dirt catcher (Chicco Polly) and have never looked back. Their flannels are great too. I came away with a lurid green rocker chair (it was comfy - no idea where it's going to go though (I blame my hormones) a load of cushions and a green, "ghosty blob" shaped, rechargeable lamp for DS1 who has developed a fear of the dark.

jw - never heard of Angie Sage but would be interested in your view when you've read the book. at Natalie Cassidy! - silly, silly girl!

heron - I try to avoid those threads - heartbreaking at the best of times but all the more so when you're full of hormones

triggles - hope you get back to feeling normal soon. Sounds like you've really been through the mill!

DD's out visiting friends (such a whirlwind whenever she's home) DH is watching the footy and so I'm off for an early(ish) night of catnapping in between acid attacks Night all .

jeanjeannie · 14/04/2009 21:19

Evening all. Iris is STILL up she's racing around like a mad thing in mad land!

jw good to hear the orders have picked up - very pleasing. LOVING the pics of Katherine- I shall check out FB too. I see there is a little clip in her hair...sweeeeet!

Laxatives to lose weight - oh dear. That's kind of the opposite way that you and mrsB are doing it. You're both trying not to poo yer pants and there was Ms Cassidy doing nothing but that

mrsB definately overtired. Verity wails like a banshee - we just wait it out - not nice though. I do wish she'd embrace day time naps.

triggles poor you sounds awful, hope you feel better soon x

mrsboogie · 14/04/2009 21:30

I don't get the laxative thing - surely by the time the food's got that far the fat etc has been absorbed - and it won't work? it probably just poos the water out of you. Very silly.

I have no idea why but since I started on the Xenical I have had no appetite. Not even taking it half the time now as I'm not eating enough to warrant it.

heron22 · 15/04/2009 09:04

mrsb what is xenical?

morning all! a bit misty foggy here but not cold. day promises to clear up and warm up!

expressing milk now. LO is tired and trying to sleep. he has this thing is moaning and groaning and then falling asleep.

heron22 · 15/04/2009 09:13

oh yes will be avoiding the termination threads. i just cant handle it.

am going to start exercising and the gym has powerplate classes. has anyone done them? good for getting fit? losing weight?

Triggles · 15/04/2009 10:13

mrsboogie maybe that's how the Xenical works somewhat? after a bit your appetite changes...

I avoid the termination threads as well, it's just too much for me.

Still feeling rough, but pushing myself to eat and drink, and I do think it's helping some. I'm determined to have a week where I'm not ill!

mrsboogie · 15/04/2009 10:42

triggles I know how you feel - i'd love a week off being ill too - although I had nothing compared to your recent ailment! tea and cake - that's what you need and plenty of it!

heron Xenical is an anti-obesity ( ) drug which requires you to eat only very low fat meals or else it punishes you in the most spectacular and horrible way (out of your rear end) you will make very very sure that what you are eating is low fat. Boy does it work. It's not for those who only need to lose a bit of weight though.

I haven't done powerplate classes butI have used a Power Plate, it is an.. ehm interesting experience. You have to stick with it, as at frst you can feel your brain rattling in your skull but after a couple of goes you get used to it and don't feel that any more. It can be quite pleansant used in the seated postion

Unfortunately I had to stop using it as I got pg and you can't use them then but I enjoyed it and have heard very good things about them - including benefits for things like bone density and joints etc.

lilibet · 15/04/2009 10:50

Ladymac I've been keeping an eye out for your announcement, congratulations and loads of love to you Emmeline and all the other Macs!

Very romantic name, but you do have excellent taste in names.

Love Lili x
