I think most do, I worked until 39weeks and 6 days one time!!!

Phoenix · 21/02/2009 19:56

I was about 36wks with ds. This time i'm planning on leaving at about 34wks but that depends on how my back is, it may be earlier.

Phoenix · 21/02/2009 19:57

Just think the longer you work before the birth, the longer you'll get off after

PeppermintPatty · 21/02/2009 19:57

34 weeks

CompareTheMeerkat · 21/02/2009 19:57

Intended to leave at 36 weeks with DS but had to stop at about 34 weeks due to high blood pressure.

Stopped at 32 weeks with DD.

TeenyTinyToria · 21/02/2009 19:58

I left Pizza Hut at 24 weeks last time, and managed another waitress job until 28 weeks, when I was hospitalised

Hopefully I will be healthier this time - at 22 weeks I'm doing ok, so hope to work until 32 weeks, and get acting work until 36 weeks or so.

It all depends on your job and what you are expected to do.

Rosa · 21/02/2009 19:58

I worked to 39 weeks but I had a sit down pretty unstressed job then.

eandh · 21/02/2009 19:58

for dd1 knew my c section booked for 39+3 left at 38+1 and I was bored after 3 days at home

dd2 c ssection booked for 38+4 after her attemting to arrive several times between 34and 37 weeks I finally finished work at 36+5

duckyfuzz · 21/02/2009 19:58

I stopped at 31 weeks, pg with twins and moving house before the birth...

bluebump · 21/02/2009 19:59

I was 36 weeks, which I thought may have been a bit early but work was really stressful and I made the right decision. I didn't realise it was possible to sleep so much until after I finished!

eandh · 21/02/2009 19:59

meant to ay with dd1 I was full time

dd2 I was only working 2 days a week

EffiePerine · 21/02/2009 20:00

I left as soon as I could, 29 weeks. The job involved a lot of heavy lifting so it was getting to the stage where I couldn't do much anyway, and as I'm not going back there didn't seem to be much point in staying any longer than I had to! I've been very bored at times over the last few weeks, but I don't think I could have carried on much longer, so it was best to leave when I did.

ilikeyoursleeves · 21/02/2009 20:37

34 weeks with DS, was nice to have several weeks of just me and DH before DS came (and he was 2 weeks early too).

Mummywannabe · 21/02/2009 20:44

36 weeks but took 2 week annual leave so 34. Couldn't have managed much more. Good luck!

titmouse · 21/02/2009 21:04

34 weeks. How many weeks pregnant are you loganberry? Cos I think I underestimated how tired I'd get (first pregnancy) and do wish I'd gone earlier, as somebody else said I think it depends a lot on what you do and how many hours you work, how far you travel etc.

cali · 21/02/2009 21:08

29 weeks with dd1, due to bad SPD and was signed off sick until 36 weeks.
34 weeks with dd2 , work 12.5 hour shifts and on feet for most of that time.

Stinkyfeet · 21/02/2009 21:09

With ds1, I left at 36 weeks; he was 10 days late, so I ended up just sitting aroung for almost 6 weeks.

With ds2, my official ML began just after 38 weeks, but I took some AL, so actually stopped working at around 37 weeks. He was delivered at 38+5, so I only had a week or so off before he was born.

Gemzooks · 21/02/2009 21:09

30 weeks with DS cos had to come back long haul from living in an unsuitable country to give birth, it was lovely having the time to relax.

this time, am 35 weeks, not stopping till 38 but will work at home from 36 due to spd.

I know it's nice to have more maternity leave and so work till the last min, but actually I think you do need time to yourself and as others have said, you shouldn't underestimate how tired you are, and how you have to just chill out a bit before the birth and get into a birth kind of mindset.. be easy on yourself too!

Gemzooks · 21/02/2009 21:10

if money is not a massive issue I would say definitely give yourself as much time before as possible

LaDiDaDi · 21/02/2009 21:12

At 32 weeks, the day that I had dd.
I had to ring work from another hospital in the city to say that I wouldn't be coming in again for around 9 moths and I would send my bleep over in the internal post .

lalalonglegs · 21/02/2009 21:14

dd1 - 38 weeks
ds1 - 37 weeks
dd2 - 39 weeks (and she was a week early)

ilovetochat · 21/02/2009 21:14

36 weeks, only had a 15 min drive to work so that was easy but job involved walking miles and it was summer and i was knackered.

TequilaMockinBird · 21/02/2009 21:16

I worked until 39+5 with DD!
