I stopped at 35 weeks. I tried to carry on until 37 weeks but my job entails late starts and finishes and I was knackered.

dustbuster · 24/02/2009 19:47

34 weeks - I had a sneaking suspicion this was a bit soon, but in fact I had a lovely time relaxing and getting everything ready (I hadn't done anything before ML) and I have really happy memories of this time.

cupcakeandtea · 25/02/2009 15:47

I'm giving up work at 34 weeks too and I'm not going to feel guilty about it! Three of those weeks are holiday so my maternity pay doesn't kick in until the middle of April.

I have a one hour commute into London each way and although my job is desk bound, I cannot wait to leave! Two weeks and counting...

Plus I'm absolutely shattered at the moment so the thought of not having to battle with the tube each morning and just throw on a pair of jogging bottoms and a t-shirt is utter bliss.

36 weeks with dd who was late, so had 5 weeks off.
Planning on 36 weeks with this baby, 4 weeks left to work and counting! Far more tired this time round and I only work two days now!
Good luck, and rest, it will be the last time you do

wasabipeanut · 25/02/2009 16:08

36 weeks. Felt about right to stop then. I was hooooge and struggling with the commute. I cried my 1st day because I just didn't know what to do with myself and knew my life was about to change seismically.

The day after that I was fine! I enjoyed my last few weeks of being a lady of leisure albeit a rather hefty one.

Tummytuckrequired · 25/02/2009 16:09

For my first baby I left a month before my due date but only because I couldn't cope with travelling up to London anymore and not getting seats on the train! With my second I worked from home in the last month and worked 1 week up until my due date.

mamakoukla · 25/02/2009 16:15

39 weeks 4d. Was in reasonable shape and good mobility right until the day.

It is not a bad idea to take a week or so off though and give yourself some rest before it gets busy. Almost wish I had taken that option myself...

WelliesAndPyjamas · 25/02/2009 16:29

38 wks + a few days

HensMum · 25/02/2009 16:34

36 weeks. It was enough. I was starting to get really big and uncomfortable. And I had to either walk 30mins to work or get a crowded bus (and glare at people until they offered me a seat).
4 weeks off would have been just about right, I had a lovely time sleeping, reading, knitting and meeting friends for lunch etc, but DS was two weeks late and those last two weeks were pretty miserable.

Rollmops · 25/02/2009 17:09

Last day at work was Thursday and my twins were born following Tuesday at 37.4 weeks via 'planned exit through the sunroof' as DH likes to call it.

LunarSea · 25/02/2009 17:11

officially 40 with ds2. But actually worked up until 41+3 from home.
38 with ds1.

georgiemum · 25/02/2009 17:11

9 months...
very very very bad or good timing, depending on how you look at it. Gave birth 2 days before I was due to start me leave. And I missed 3 leaving lunches too!

Kizzipoppet · 03/03/2009 22:36

38 weeks with DS1, planning make it to week 37 this time round as have toddler in tow..

feedthegoat · 03/03/2009 22:45

34 weeks. Maternity leave started at 36 weeks and I took 2 weeks annual leave.

beckynbump · 08/03/2009 20:34

39 weeks and 2 days was when I left work and baby was born 2 days later. I would go as long as you feel able, more time after they are born

BonyM · 08/03/2009 20:51

With dd1 I worked up until 38 weeks, but finished 11 weeks before my due date with dd2 as I was 7 years older (38), and completely exhausted!

eidsvold · 09/03/2009 06:24

worked up until 37 weeks - school was finished for the year then. Only managed 10 days before she was born.

dd2 and dd3 - was a sahm - so no maternity leave - still running around doing all the things I was doing right up until c-section day.

greenbeanie · 09/03/2009 14:04

33 weeks with both ds1 and 2. 3 weeks annual leave first, so mat leave from 36 weeks. I really enjoyed that time to focus on the baby and the huge changes that were due to happen and most of all rest, rest, rest.

BabyTalk13 · 09/03/2009 16:40

38 weeks but she came 11days early.

The longer you work, the more time off u get off with baby after

FlyingMonkey · 09/03/2009 17:45

I'm 38 weeks and maternity leave officially kicks in today although I took last week off as annual leave. I moped around the house for the first day wondering what to do with myself as all my friends are at work but have decided the way forward is to keep busy so doing lots of cleaning and washing baby clothes/bedding. I think 37 weeks was the right time for me to finish as I'm finding it hard to get comfy and sleep well at night so I was going into work exhausted. Even going out for a couple of hours is tiring now. I've got a few more things to do/organise and then I'm going to take it easy so I'm well rested for when the baby makes his or her entrance.
