With annual leave 34 weeks. I was knackered and worn out with commuting so was glad to finish. I wouldn't have lasted any longer.

gigglewitch · 21/02/2009 21:19

ds1 - finished for christmas hols, baby due first week of new year (born on due date) - so approx 38 wks
ds2 - 2 weeks hol from leave entitlement and took mat leave from the day I had to (sun of EWC) - also 38wks
dd - rang from hospital "sorry I won't be in work today I've had a baby" 36+5

I wanted all of my mat leave with the baby [greedy mother emoticon]

DS arrived 1 hour after finishing work for the day! Arrived 5 weeks early!

Ewe · 21/02/2009 21:31

39+1 weeks for me.

glimmer · 21/02/2009 23:41

Not, that this is a competition but it was 40 for me . Work all day on the computer and it was my first, so I found it pleasantly distracting.

moondog · 21/02/2009 23:43

40 for me too.
Contractions started at lunchtime.
Cleared desk and had her that night.

Linnet · 21/02/2009 23:48

With dd1 I finished at 35 weeks, which was a mistake at the time as back then you only got 12 weeks leave and she was 2 weeks late, so it ate into my maternity leave.

With dd2 I left at 38 weeks plus 1 day.

elkiedee · 22/02/2009 00:14

Both times I took annual leave from about 3 weeks before due date, and baby was just over a week late coming. This time (my 2nd) I started maternity leave not AL on the due date, as I expected baby would be late.

Qally · 22/02/2009 00:58

I thought I was 34, but the scans were wrong and my dates right and I was 36. I felt bloody awful, though - severe SPD and swelled up like a barrage balloon. I'd hoped to work for a month longer.

MKG · 22/02/2009 01:32

I'm 38 weeks and still at work. I will probably deliver here.

elkiedee · 22/02/2009 01:38

Wow, you're 38 weeks already, MGG? While my own pregnancy with ds2 born 3 February this year felt like it took forever, it seems like only the other day that you were doing the pregnancy tests! Why do other people's pregnancies seem so quick compared to my own?

Peapodlovescuddles · 22/02/2009 02:39

Went into labour with DS1 on my lunchbreak... but he was born at 36 weeks, had been planning on leaving at 38 weeks!

kickassangel · 22/02/2009 02:55

39+2, but it was summer hosls & i was a teacher, so actually at work til about 35 weeks

jabberwocky · 22/02/2009 03:35

39 weeks with ds1

Ds2 came early so had worked that day then water broke at 10:00 pm

jabberwocky · 22/02/2009 03:35

That was at 36+3

Reesie · 22/02/2009 08:57

25 weeks with dd!!!! I was tightening like mad so was signed off....

This time feel great but am finishing at 32 weeks to spend some time with dd before new baby comes (finishing next week!!!!)

unfitmother · 22/02/2009 09:11

36 with DS

33 with DD, had been planning to stay longer but was physically attacked, at work by a patient and punched in the stomach so DH insisted, plus I lost my confidence.

DontCallMeBaby · 22/02/2009 09:35

36, but had used annual leave to finish work at 3.00 for four weeks beforehand. 15 minute car commute and a desk-bound job, so feel a bit of a wuss compared to some! The 3.00 finishes were fab (apart from arriving home, 200 yards from a school, during school run) - I had some quality naps back then.

lizziemun · 22/02/2009 10:16

36WKS with dd1 because i couldn't fit behind the steering wheel anymore .

Kalikaroo · 22/02/2009 10:28

Going on maternity leave at the end of this week - I'll be 35 weeks. Can't wait...!

barbarapym · 22/02/2009 10:37

34 with ds
28 with DD - just b4 Xmas and didn't want to go back in Jan for a fortnight. Easier just to let my successor take over straight away. Plus I knew I was going to take a career break so it made no difference to the time at home post-birth. It was great!

loganberry12 · 22/02/2009 11:11

well i only work 8am til 2pm but im standing all day with only a 15 minute break. Im also lifting heavy pots full of boiling water ect as im a cook, its very hot in the kitchens now sometimes reaching 100 deg and as my baby isnt due til august its going to get much hotter. I dont think ill be returning to work after any way so i'll probably leave at 30 weeks i'll have some holiday due so my maternity will start from 32 weeks.

36 weeks with first child. I was commuting by train an hour into London with a large tummy and a bunch of bastards who never ever offered me their seat, so was very glad to stop at 36 weeks! He came two weeks late, so I had 6 weeks napping at home to get ready.

LadyPinkofPinkerton · 22/02/2009 11:38

I felt really lazy at my work last time as everyone always works right to the end.

DS1- 35 weeks
DS2 - 34 weekks

With DS2 it was partly wanting to spend the end of the school holidays with DS1 before he went back to nursery, and I was too heavily pg to do anything with him.

It really depends on your job and hourse etc. With DS1 I couldn't have gone on any longer as I had a 1hr commute either way and was out of the house 12hrs a day. I was just too tired for that. He came a week early too.

FruitynNutty · 22/02/2009 11:44

DS1 - 38 weeks
DS2 - I will be working until 39+5 (If I last that long!)
