Yet ANOTHER thread. Like it says - those of you who've waved bye bye to 39 come and say Hi to us instead.

We think that 40 is the new 20, cyber cake is the new weight-watchers and older mums rock

So, if you fit that description come and play with us. We like cake, gossip an occasional luke warm debate and a good moan! Oh and we're also very friendly and supportive!

OK everyone.....take it away x

You go ladym!!!

hedgepig · 22/02/2009 16:01

hello all we are having a very laid back day today we are too tired to do anything else. I have been putting folded washing away Tee and have tried out my new mop Oh what an exciting life I have.

Hi bluepool I'M 42 & have 4.5 month baby and a older 5 yrs old DS.

ladymac well done on tracking down the hearing aid and winning your buggy (does that mean it is free if you won it? )

JW ebay guru and any other keen ebayers. I bought a bumbo seat yesterday and payed by paypal. the seller has contacted me to ask to send the payment to a different paypal account (hot mail email) because they have a problem with their paypal. The money in paypal is unclaimed but this all sounds a bit dodgy to me what do you think? I have emailed ebay for advice but wondered if you have ever come across this sort of thing?

MUM41plus5 · 22/02/2009 16:03

Ladymac I didn't realise you have 4 already and this will be your fifth it's a good number, although mine was supposed to be number 4 and with the 10% chance they gave us even that may not have been possible but low and behold number 4 became number 4 & 5

ermintrude13 · 22/02/2009 16:03

Welcome bluepool, maybe also see you on the June thread as Tee suggests (though I have to say this is my favourite one, and not just because of the amount of cake we consume). I'm also 42 and expecting my 3rd (and definitely last) DC. I hope your job doesn't put too much of a strain on you - although people always talk about pregnant ladies not lifting and carrying I've seen research that suggests if you're used to it, and maintain a good posture, it doesn't put baby at risk. But it must be tiring.

ladymac yay for breaking your EBay duck! I shall be sure to do my pelvic rocking when DH isn't around, and fully clothed, otherwise he would most certainly think he was in with a chance . Actually, and probably tmi, we have actually managed some marital goings-on recently, much to my and his surprise - 3rd trimester ahoy!

Glad you found E's hearing aid eventually. Primark is idea for 12 yr olds who can spend their pocket money on an entire new outfit - and I did once buy pjs from there for myself because I couldn't believe how cheap they were - but then I felt a bit dirty afterwards. And not in a good way . They can't be that cheap without something dodgy going on, I suspect. DD bought herself a black crop top and shorts with diamante skull and crossbones for about £3, probably run up by someone half her age in India...

Tabitha8 · 22/02/2009 16:07

Welcome Bluepool. I'm 43 and expecting my first in June. All very exciting, isn't it? All my mates keep telling me that child birth is easy. DH even said it doesn't need to hurt at all. . Can't wait to try it out!

Triggles · 22/02/2009 16:35

kaz I don't have any problems with anyone who likes to have their baby facing them at any point - I just laugh at those lately who have been acting like we as parents are neglecting our children by putting them in front facing pushchairs! When DD was an infant (21 years ago), we had her in a Graco pushchair that had the handle that swung either way, so you could be facing the baby or baby could face forward - I switched it back and forth depending on where we were going, the weather, and such. No big deal. But ironic that 21 years ago, it was standard in a medium price pushchair, now you have to pay a premium for it!

ermintrude I had an anterior placenta with DS2 and had back labour, but honestly couldn't tell you if the one caused the other. Also had a low placenta with him, but it moved up by delivery time, thank goodness!

mrsb thanks for the info on Jay-Z. I had no idea!

bluepool welcome! we all are fairly chatty, so you'll be fine! I'm 43, expecting #4 in August. I am quite enjoying being an "older" mum - I think I prefer the term "more life experienced mum" though

I did a bit of reading on the GD, and from what I can tell, it's mainly less sugar, more protein, can have some carbs but combined with proteins, and more veg and some fruit. I'll get more info this week, but not as freaked out about it as I was the other day. Baby's obviously pushing up into the belly area now, as I have to eat a bit smaller meals - I feel full so quickly!

Triggles · 22/02/2009 16:39

hedgepig I think they have to reject the payment from the other one first, so it goes back to you. But I'm sure someone more experienced can answer that for you.

tabitha well, of course, it ISN'T going to hurt your DH, is it??!! He's quite funny, isn't he?

hedgepig · 22/02/2009 16:58

tabitha well you can make it hurt DH by squeezing his hand very hard with each contraction whether you need too or not .

Tee2072 · 22/02/2009 16:59

OOh, you're mean hedgepig. I knew I liked you.

hedgepig · 22/02/2009 17:05

Tee the downside of an epidural is I didn't get to break DHs hand hahahahaha (hedgepig does an evil giggle [grin})

ladymac · 22/02/2009 17:15

Oh lordy, I am the grandma of the group, aren't I? Nobody else beats my 45 years.

Ooh, wait, I've just remembered, there is a very infrequent poster who's older than me and has more children too. jw or jj or mrsb or hedgepig, what's her name? I've gone blank!

ladymac · 22/02/2009 17:17

johnworf, I can pay by either paypal or personal cheque for the pushchair. Is paypal better as far as the buyer is concerned?

ermintrude13 · 22/02/2009 18:04

ladymac Is the lady you're referring to dreamydowler, who I think is pg with her 8th DC? dreamy where are you, haven't heard from you for a while?!

ladymac · 22/02/2009 18:22

No, it's not her. Blimey, pregnant with her 8th! I thought 5 was a lot. Think this will definitely be it for me. Separate beds after this one is born.

Have been struggling the last few days. The bump feels so heavy and I'm getting more ligament pain than I usually do. The ranitidine helps with the heartburn most of the time but it's not cured it all together. I can't do my shoes up properly. I'm having Braxton Hicks like they're going out of fashion. And just to keep DH on his toes, the horny bitch has been replaced by the moany bitch!

hedgepig · 22/02/2009 18:36

it wasn't rosebury was it ladymac?

Tee2072 · 22/02/2009 18:44

When are you due ladym? Soon, yeah?

8th? I think I'll see how I do with one, but I can't imagine 8!!

ermintrude13 · 22/02/2009 18:54

That one must be on the June post. I think she has a 2 yr old, and looks after her 1 yr old grand-daughter, as well as expecting her 8th. Haven't heard from her in a while, but it's pretty amazing she ever has time to post anything!

ladymac hang on in there! Not long to go now

C'mon Tee, I bet you're tempted to go to that chap in the US and have the next eight all in one go .

That mad octuplet woman seems to have disappeared from the news or am I just not checking the DM website?

johnworf · 22/02/2009 19:16

ladymac not sure I fully understand why you can't pay into their Paypal account. Paypal is better as it gives you up to 60 days protection i.e. you can make a dispute if, for some reason, you are not happy. I'd question the changing of Paypal accounts further though. Btw, well done on your first Ebay purchase

ladymac No more babies at Worf Towers. 4 is enough for me even if I did leave a small gap tee hee. I'm 42 so don't think I'm the one you're looking for.

hedgepig · 22/02/2009 19:55

hi JW it was me and the request from the seller to change of paypal accounts after the payment has gone to the 1st Acc. I am waiting for ebay to get back to me on this.

Has Ks cold all cleared up yet? Young O is chewing away at his hands like nobodies business and he almost rolled over today , it is all go go go in hedgepig hollow

jeanjeannie · 22/02/2009 20:35

Evening all...snottyness abounds here at JJ towers and trapped wind too - poor Verity is shaking with concentration pushing out the farts!

ladymac yee ha for the pram win. What great news about the hearing aid - I have visions of it whistling away in the corner driving the staff nuts wondering what it was Braxton hicks eh? Ha - I knew horny bitch wouldn't last long OOooo, OOooo, I'm excited - not had a baby pop for what seems ages....*gets out wool and knitting needles!

tabitha your DH is a hoot Actually my DD2's birth was a breeze - it was an elective C-section My mate was in the bed opposite, having surprisingly gone into labour a week early. There she was, looking like MC Hammer in her baggy pants, knackered but happy, meanwhile, I come gliding back on a bed, after 40 mins in theatre, hair all brushed, glasses still on, looking sedate and saying...."look what i've got" whilst holding Verity. She said it looked like I'd just nipped to the shops and come back with a baby! Mind you - I was out of my mind for about 2 hours once the morphine kicked in

hedgepig Ooooo, teething and rolling...he'll be sommersaulting the furniture soon!

Got our first speech therapy playgroup tomorrow - I'm really looking forward to it.
Feel so lucky to be getting help this quickly as I know so many people wait months/years even.

hedgepig · 22/02/2009 20:39

don't JJ I need him to stay in one place for as long as possible, my house is a huge choking hazard toys for 5 yr olds (lego, playmobil etc) and babies do not go together. How splendid you have your play group it should be fun

johnworf · 22/02/2009 21:13

OOOOps sorry hedgepig If he's already got one of your payments then he'll have to refund that one first. And what is the reason for sending your payment to another palpal account? Sorry, if you've already explained. My brain isn't working at the mo.

Snot and farts round at JJ's house. Sounds fantastic!

K has just woken up after having hardly any milk or solids today. She either gets the teat in her mouth and after a few glugs, decides she wants to either bite the teat or spit the rest out. With the solids, she's biting the spoon or raspberrying the rest out...which is lovely as she's really mastered this and can get it in the hair of whoever's feeding her. Given her some calpol and like young O, her fingers are permanently in her mouth and her front covered in drool. There's two ridges on her bottom gum but as yet, no sharp teeth poking through.

DSS is still full of a cold and after the sore throat, looks like it's gone in his ear so a docs appointment on the cards for tomorrow. It's great when they're all full of it as I'm sure all you ladies out there know.

She's not rolling over yet like young O, but she loves standing on her legs if you support her. Can't sit on her own but can stand for minutes with help

Kaz1967 · 22/02/2009 22:34

JW have you tried baby Ibruprofen? I find it works better on Kez for both teeth and temperature

bluepool congratulations and welcome

bluepool · 22/02/2009 22:48

Hi everyone thanks for all the replies

Ok ok ok can't stand the suspense any longer I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and ask. It's driving me nuts or is that the hormones
Anyway all the abbreviations i.e DD,DH,DS,DC what do they mean?

ladymac · 22/02/2009 23:08

Thanks hedgepig, yes it is rosebury I'm thinking of. Where's she gone?
