Yet ANOTHER thread. Like it says - those of you who've waved bye bye to 39 come and say Hi to us instead.

We think that 40 is the new 20, cyber cake is the new weight-watchers and older mums rock

So, if you fit that description come and play with us. We like cake, gossip an occasional luke warm debate and a good moan! Oh and we're also very friendly and supportive!

OK everyone.....take it away x

Had results of today's blood test and HcG levels 7,863 - on Tuesday they were 6,540 so obviously not looking good. I have another scan booked for next Tuesday and will have another blood test then.

ermintrude13 · 05/03/2009 12:51

extremelychocolatey they're theoretically supposed to double every couple of days I think, but they do vary hugely. Have a look at this link

Hope you get to know what's going on soon.

extremelychocolateymilkroll · 05/03/2009 12:58

Thanks for the link ermintrude. I have heard about the doubling but then you hear others saying how their HcG levels were way off what they should have been and things were okay so you cling on to that hope. Realistically, it's very unlikely to be good news. Would have been easier if the levels had fallen today as would then have for sure.

eeek - by the time I catch up on here I've always forgotten what everyone's said. How do you do it??

Love the Clash concert at 6m preg. Class! I was dancing salsa until 8 1/2 months preg with M. And seeing bands up til the end - she's only to hear a snatch of salsa music now and she's up swinging her hips. She loved Glastonbury - all that music to dance to.

jj - what an awful situation with the home and funeral. You just want to get on and have the funeral and grieve in peace don't you. Good luck with kicking ass - wear big boots!

mum41 soorrrrrrrrryyyyy baby-brained-one here sees the 5 at the end of your name and mixes it with the 1 ... I know I do it everytime .. so let me apologise now for being dim. Love your pic - not chavvy at all! See you have a kilt-wearer too. My hubby's Scottish and wore his kilt to our wedding. I was almost tempted to wear a trouser suit so I could say I was the one wearing the trousers. (went for red velvet dress in the end - hussy).

tee good luck in the meetings .... I can't get onto your blog from work to see your hair and bump [sulks]

hedgepig the first Chav I spotted was wearing a Burberry cap and scarf, swigging from a can of lager and smoking a fag and his Pit-Bull terrier had a Burberry scarf round its neck as a collar. Classy. You watched Shameless? Mostly Chavs. Have to be carefull though as it can become a derogatory word just for people on low-incomes (benefits etc) used by uppity middle classes and media types. But it is really the OTT jewlery/burberry/"sport-wear" types that count.

ladymac · 05/03/2009 13:39

Oh, the joys of pregnancy. The Ranitidine has really kicked in now and I have hardly suffered any heartburn. BUT... guess what is happening at the other end of my body? Yes, the dreaded Farmer Giles have come to say hello. Have been applying Anusol like it's going out of fashion but still feel like I've been, ahem, roughly taken Bending down to pick anything up from the floor is the worst. Can't bare the thought of having to go and show the GP my bottom. Any of you have any ideas? Is there something better than Anusol?

ladymac · 05/03/2009 13:41

jj sorry to hear that the care home are being so obnoxious. Hope a strongly worded letter from your solicitor friend will do the trick.

duchesse · 05/03/2009 13:43

ladymac- I'm crunching on calcium carbonate tabs like they're going out of fashion. Bliss. I had heartburn in my first pregnancy as well, but was too much of a purist to take anything, and just suffered nobly. ahem. Bugger that for a game of ninepins this time around...

johnworf · 05/03/2009 13:43

grape anyone?

duchesse · 05/03/2009 13:44

oh thank you jw. I'll have one from the bottom of the bunch if you don't mind. fnar fnar

ermintrude13 · 05/03/2009 13:44

Right ladymac, I'm taking out my needles and knitting you an extra little bonnet for the haemmorrhoid . I got one first time around but not since - however, am feeling a bit pressured down below and wouldn't be surprised is johnny giles is lurking. When I was a student - away from mum's cooking and bingo! piles! - I once had some great foam stuff which you stuck up your bum and squirted and it worked like a dream, but when I described it to my GP years later he definitely thought it was a sick fantasy . So the beautifully-named anusol it is, I'm afraid, and lots of fruit and veg. Erm, you may have to insert the anusol quite far up to really shrink the hernia . good luck!

jeanjeannie · 05/03/2009 13:54

JW you beat me too it I'm atually eating red grapes at the moment - it's that blissful pain on the mouth ulcer - sick I know!

ladymac I'm with ermintrude and think the anusol is the way to go. Don't think docs care too much for piles....unless they move on from the grape stage and start becoming more your prune or fig

And don't forget - the anusol is a marvel on the bags under the eyes. Keep in it your make-up bag!

ladymac · 05/03/2009 13:56

You lot are just too cruel. And stop making me laugh, it makes the pain worse!

ladymac · 05/03/2009 13:59

ermintrude am intrigued by your squirty foam. Did you 'apply' it yourself or did you have a kinky kind boyfriend do it for you?

ermintrude13 · 05/03/2009 14:02

I'm sure my boyfriend of the time would have been happy to oblige but I was too shy and innocent to have asked

MUM41plus5 · 05/03/2009 14:04

jj and jw thanks for putting my mind a little at ease he doesn't hold his breath for long just takes a very deep one in order to gain the best grunt he can muster when he exhales so not too worried about him passing out more the temper side of things and like you said jj he does a little shake at the same time, he likes to take a swing at everything too, including himself but again it's not with any malice

bonzo I love it up in Scotland we married in the highlands at Brodie Castle in the town of Brodie and as I mentioned once before that is my husbands surname (mine now too of course) thats why he has the larger sporen, its a family thing

ladymac glad you're free of the dreaded heartburn, can't help with the farmer giles though never suffered from them although I did have a lot of unexplained bottom pain but they couldn't find anything when I had to go for a rather embarrasing check at the hospital they just couldn't get to the bottom of it it did cease soon after the birth though thank goodness

MUM41plus5 · 05/03/2009 14:09

Oh! where did all those posts come from, one mention of an embarrasing condition and its hunting season

MUM41plus5 · 05/03/2009 14:13

If any of you are still about could you please let me know if you would freeze all the vegatables cooked for weaning on the same day or would you put tomorrows veg for dinner in the fridge?

jeanjeannie · 05/03/2009 14:23

mum41 I freeze it all unless it's for same day. Not sure of my facts here but I think it's better from vitamin/mineral point of view; holds them at that point rather than letting them deplete overnight.

I love a quick embarrasing post, especially when it's not my modesty

johnworf · 05/03/2009 14:30

Best ointment (as recommended by my MW) is Scheriproct. I got it from my GP after I had K. Brilliant stuff

You can't get it over the counter though.

johnworf · 05/03/2009 14:32

Just noticed probably not good for pregnant use. Not sure....ho hum.

jeanjeannie · 05/03/2009 14:41

Oooer, 0.5% interest and 75bn extra money printed Blimey, don't sound too good. I'm no financial expert but should we all go to Costco and start stockpiling?!

OP posts:
BonzoDoodah · 05/03/2009 15:06

no good on the Giles problem but have been swigging Gaviscon advance like it's gin. Works a treat but feels like swallowing snot.

I worked with someone who had his piles operated on - my boss took him some purple grapes to the hospital. Mind you he also took a bar of friut and nut to another colleague who was suffering a breakdown in a mental hospital. I wonder if all that was related?

mum31 since we're on bottoms - are you sure it's a tantrum and not a poo . I'm suffering tantrums from DD (19m). Full throw-herself-on-the-floor and scream like murdered tantrums. All because I say no to Diddy or no painting or no to a 7th story in 5 minutes. Terrible mother.

duchesse · 05/03/2009 15:27

Top presents from your former boss, Bonzo! What tact.

duchesse · 05/03/2009 15:28

PS: I prefer the fruit flavoured tablets- they're almost like sweets!

Tee2072 · 05/03/2009 15:29

JJ economics 101 says if you print more money, you cause inflation. So I have no idea what they think they are doing!

Trying to type very quietly as I am still in meeting but don't need to minute this part.

Gotta love a board that can discuss a 1p difference between forecast and actual for 25 minutes.

I have not had the Farmer Giles issue yet, although it takes a donkey's year to use the toilet!
