Yet ANOTHER thread. Like it says - those of you who've waved bye bye to 39 come and say Hi to us instead.

We think that 40 is the new 20, cyber cake is the new weight-watchers and older mums rock

So, if you fit that description come and play with us. We like cake, gossip an occasional luke warm debate and a good moan! Oh and we're also very friendly and supportive!

OK everyone.....take it away x

yup, the belly is coming on nicely tee

jj hope you feel better - I had headaches with my lurgy - v unusual for me but I think my inner tubes so to speak were all blocked. Hope you feel better soon!

hedgepig agree with the others re the wee advice - plus if they get the arse over it then they're not worth bothering with

MUM41plus5 · 04/03/2009 21:07

Tee you have such a neat little bump you've got to give it a name, nothing wrong with baby Fraser

hedgepig really not sure what I would do but then I'm the person who worried silly everyone thought she was a chav so probably not the best person to give advice

should try and get sleep while alls quiet but trying to stay awake to watch desperate housewives, missed it last week and had to catch up on Sunday, just not the same

MUM41plus5 · 04/03/2009 21:11

jj a hot toddy, warm a little whisky and add honey, not sure if it actually has any medicinal benefits but it will help you sleep

jeanjeannie · 04/03/2009 21:18

Having a hot choccy - I've not looked at the sugar content - ignorance is bliss and all that. Paracetamol is kicking in.

tee you look glowing and such a tight little bump - awww bless you You really look very good indeed! Baby Fraser is a great name - I do believe Mum41 has one and it's one of my absolute fave boy's names.

Gosh JJ that does seem like a long wait. I thought up to 2 weeks was the norm. Must make it worse in some ways, although I suppose there's plenty of time to make sure people know about it in advance. Hope your parents aren't too upset by it all.

And yes indeed the weird clock is still there in the Vic centre, although it's hard for DC to get a look-in since the bench is always full of oldsters looking grumpy and having a snack.

I nearly went to see The Cult at that gig, JW! I was either too busy with A levels or too entrenched in uni life in Liverpool to get there. And you were already pg wth #1, now that makes me feel like a very late starter.

Good belly bump Tee, looks rather like mine, which 'friends' are now pointing at and giggling, saying 'ha ha, and you've got another 3 months to go!', which seems unkind .

Right, I'm off to cuddle up to my new 6ft husband (theramine pregnancy pillow borrowed from my sister. It's so good for back and bump, I've recommended it on June thread and now wish I'd arranged to be on commission).

night all.

Tee2072 · 04/03/2009 21:37

Very unkind ermintrude.

Thanks for all the bump compliments. I like it!

JessynJ · 04/03/2009 21:54

Thank you very much for your replies! Sorry I hadn't replied sooner I didn't realise how frequently you all post!!!

johnworf · 04/03/2009 21:57

ermintrude aye. I was an early starter That lump who saw The Cult is now 23 and cannot join her siblings and her mother for Sunday lunch this week as she's going to a tattoo convention

What a small world. We could have almost rubbed shoulders - well there was a lot of mad dancing - and all these years later only just realised

Enjoy your new husband pillow.

hedgepig · 04/03/2009 22:02

thanks for he wee advice, just realized I don't have her phone number only an email but I will say something at school tomorrow.

What is a chav?? (I'm actually being serious )

JJ boo about the death cert, I agree with Ermintrude I thought for a expected death a couple of weeks was standard.

Tee fabby bump you look proper pregnant

johnworf · 04/03/2009 22:15

JJ why did they withold the death certificate? I mean, it wasn't suspicious and it's not as though they're unsure of how she died, are they?

Undertakers make their own rules up although with MiL last year, they were very good. We had to wait around a week though for a 'slot' and that was a simple cremation. I expect church affairs are more to organise.

hedgepig awwwww. You have led a sheltered life haven't you? Without going into the machinations of all the nuances of chavdom, think along the lines of Vicky Pollard from Little Britain. That should ease you in gently.

mrsboogie · 04/03/2009 22:29

Well hedgpig I guess a chav is a member of the underclass although I personally think it is more a state of mind; generally they are to be seen wearing designer sportswear, adorned in chunky gold jewellery, baseball caps, big hoped earrings and they shop at Argos and Iceland or Asda (ahem) they like to shout in the street and walk around drinking cans of lager and wheeling bored looking babies. The babies are often to be seen drinking coke out of their bottles or chewing on tab ends.

That sort of thing.

Lots of "celebrities" are considered to be chavvy as well; (Posh Spice in her wag days, Kerry Katona, Jordan)

mrsboogie · 04/03/2009 22:32

just in case you don't know who Vicki Pollard is hedgepig you get the nuanced version from me

I should really go to bed.

duchesse · 04/03/2009 22:55

< comes in, does a jig of victory to celebrate finsihing first draft of hge translation, leaves again as is so tired can no longer type straight >

Going to bed.

Baby moving lots- have been getting definite kicks for the last few days, rather than squrims.

May finally be beginning to beleive that I might actually have a real baby in august.

duchesse · 04/03/2009 22:57

jealous of your proper bump tee- I went around sainsburys earlier wishing I loked even a bit pregnant so as to explain my appallig trolley skills. I do have abit of a tum, but you can't tell when Im in clithes...

Tee2072 · 05/03/2009 07:49

Well, today's a big day girls, so I won't be on (well, might slip on during board meeting!).

I start my first meeting at 9:15, end my last one at around 4:30 and then have the big dinner starting around 7.

If you don't hear from me tomorrow its because I'm sleeping!

johnworf · 05/03/2009 08:29

tee fill ya boots girl! Have loads for me as well.

duchesse your tum will be here sooner than you think

jeanjeannie · 05/03/2009 08:38

Monring. Am feeling sorry for self - feel rotten, head-achey and a nasty ulcer thing under my tongue and it hurts Rubbish night too - Iris was wailing with her teeth.

tee don't forget - you're eating for two Go girl.

duchese well done on the translation and fab news on the kicks - how nice. Maybe by some process of osmosis your LO is now bi-lingual!

The death cert saga boils down to the fact that the nursing home she was in were horrible. She died on the 28th at 1pm and told my 79yr old aunt that if she'd not removed everything from her room by 5pm then they'd charge her a whole extra month Then they refused to get a doctor as it was a weekend So they got him the following day (which I believe is illegal) and then wouldn't tell her which surgery he was from. She then had to ring around most of the ones in Sidcup to find out and when she found him he said that he was too busy to post it to her and when she went to get it the receptionist hadn't been left it. The home are now trying to charge us for all of March....MMMmm, me thinks they are in cahoots. I've got my solicitor mate onto a letter for me. I'm FUMING. Think it's the stress that's caused the ulcer

OP posts:
ermintrude13 · 05/03/2009 08:46

JJ What a horrible horrible home - unbelievable behaviour at the best of times, but when someone's recently bereaved . Kick some ass, they shouldn't be allowed to get away with such sharp and nasty practice.

Meanwhile, get some Bonjella under your tongue. That exquisite pain and then the blessed relief - I'm quite masochistic about mouth ulcers

tee hope the day and evening go brilliantly and that you get to enjoy your dinner. And enjoy your modest glass of wine - I like swigging non-alcoholic Becks in front of disapproving types

johnworf · 05/03/2009 09:31

JJ sorry to hear that you're feeling so crap I'd have to muster some strength to phone up the home and give them what for. B'stards. How can you refuse to get a doctor for someone who has died? Surely, as you say, that is illegal? Is there some kind of ombudsman that you can contact or some other agency that can be involved? I know that it won't help your aunt in any way but to be given all this aggro at a time when you really could do without it

Sounds like you're a bit run down. You need a holiday. Tell OH you need one! Or at least one of those spa days you had

Thinking of you dear.

MUM41plus5 · 05/03/2009 09:38

Morning and what a lovely one it is here, frosty but the sun is so warm, nothing like a nice school run to start the day

poor jj I suffer mouth ulcers when I'm run down, not nice, Bonjella is the best, we have the bonjella cool at the moment, works a treat!
I am just in at the appalling practice of not only the nursing home but also the doctor, why should you have to be contacting your solicitors about such a disgrace at a time like this, god it makes my blood boil!

tee hope your energy levels hold up for the long day and night ahead, have fun

baby enquiry alert DT1 is now nearly 8 months and for the last couple of months we have noticed he seems to have a temper in that he goes all stiff, clenches his fists, holds his breath and then grunts the breath out again then relaxes, thing is he does it at any point not just when he is upset, its when we are playing and he is giggling and when he's eating and enjoyng his food..... Is this a boy thing? not having had boys and none of the girls were like this but DT2 doesn't do it either? any ideas please??

duchesse · 05/03/2009 10:04

jj that's terrible! How hideously insensitive of them. This site howeevr seems to suggest that they were within their rights.

There must be some kind of overseeing body you can complain to about the insensitivity at the very least. Was her death unexpected at all? That would be extra grist to the mill if you wanted to formulate a complaint. Also, are you sure she was properly looked after there? Because that could be another avenue for complaint if they try to make your difficult over the extra month (again, crass and breath-taking insensitivity). You might consider raising your concerns with various charities for the elderly; also mention that you work for Saga (doesn't matter that it's not true, it might work).

johnworf · 05/03/2009 10:50

mum41 it's normal behaviour. My oldest DD used to do it. She used to head bang as well. She grew out of it after a few months. It's either frustration or attention or neither! Shouldn't worry unless he gets to the passing out point, then I'd seek GP advice.

FloriaTosca · 05/03/2009 11:41

Hi All
JJ I'm so sorry for your loss and utterly appalled at the home . When my grandmother died (10yrs ago)on the 3rd of the month, the home tried to charge us for the whole of the month even though she had been in hospital for 5 days before her demise ... we found that waving the postmortem report under their noses (it implied that certain medication had not been properly/regularly administered)made them back down pronto ... their attitude is utterly disgusting.
Sorry I havent been around much...quacking myself trying to get rid if this virus before the concert on Sunday...JW if you and anyone else does come (one of the women on my ante-natal thread is coming)I'll be in the bar (making up for a weeks abstainance) as soon as it is over ...poison of your choice on me

johnworf · 05/03/2009 11:47

floria is it this sunday? I'll have to check with DH that he's ok for babysitting duties and get back to you Sorry you're feeling under the weather. I think everybody has had a bit of the lurgy that's going around.

I see Jack Tweed is taking some time off 'looking after jade' having lunch with a few close friend (3 other blokes) I wonder why he isn't with her????

Oh, and Ashley Cole. Hmmmmmmm. What will Cheryl say when she gets back? (and she'll be back soon, as she's already given up on Killimanjaro...surprise, surprise).

jeanjeannie · 05/03/2009 12:36

Thanks all - and cheers for the link Duchesse Just frustrating and quite cruel. The woman who owns the place is always going on about her gated mansion that cost her 2.3 million and how it's falling in price due to the recession

Anyway - the focus is to make sure they don't intimidate my elderly family in coughing up money they don't need to part with. Good thing is that the man from probate is with them today to discuss everything.

I know we technically shouldn't have been paying for her care in the later part of her life as she was supposed to be in hospital but the hospital didn't have a place - so legally (according to age concern) the NHS/council should have footed the bill

Anyhow. mum41 sounds normal to me. Verity is so similar - she goes stiff as a board and sort of growls and shakes....MMmmm doesn't bode well for those teenage years eh!

floria good luck for Sunday - I'd be there like a shot if i lived close. BUT I AM going ot my first ever opera on Sat night at the Royal Albert Hall - we're seeing Carmen - I'm so excited Hope you get better soon - and the drinks at the bar don't cost you a fortune. Watch that jw if she goes...drinks like a fish

jw did you say Ashley Cole....Oooo, my gaydar has gone off ever-so loudly ! People run and cycle up kilimanjaro for fun - what's the matter with these people....whimps!
