Yet ANOTHER thread. Like it says - those of you who've waved bye bye to 39 come and say Hi to us instead.

We think that 40 is the new 20, cyber cake is the new weight-watchers and older mums rock

So, if you fit that description come and play with us. We like cake, gossip an occasional luke warm debate and a good moan! Oh and we're also very friendly and supportive!

OK everyone.....take it away x

Oh dear, this site just crashed so was having a little look at some other articles and came across one from The Guardian about the 'mouldies' issues in December 08 and this site is described as being for middle class women and 'friendly' if 'self satisfying' so am guessing no one will talk to me now I've confessed to having purchased underwear from Asda

BonzoDoodah · 04/03/2009 17:06

Love the Toby Tiger stuff - my mum bought M the stripey top and I love it! She wears it loads and loads and looks really sweet. Very unisex and non-girly too which is a bonus in a land of pink.

I've started waking in the night [groan] - you know the wide awake between 5 and 6am stuff. Tedious and shattering. The only consolation was I felt the bump kicking at 5:30am - proper no-doubt-about-it kicking like I've not felt up til now - Brilliant - but no-one to tell at that time in the morning!

Monday night we went to see The Kaiser Chiefs with Black Kids as the support. Was a fantastic night. Don't know if the bump liked it too much as I kept feeling it tighten and then move round. I had fun though ... good to have a night out as an adult!

Ladymac have you looked at mothercare pyjamas my sister bought me some lovely comfotable ones plus matching dressing gown for when my DD was born. I still wear them now! (maybe I should have lost some weight! )

mum51 we called our bump 'pudding' as it was the size of a grain of rice-pudding, then a plum-pudding and eventually i looked like I'd eaten ALL the pudding

mrsboogie · 04/03/2009 17:18

eeek it's snowing here

jeanjeannie · 04/03/2009 17:19

Poor mum41 not only is she having a crisis about undies from Asda (worry not Iris has several Asda outfits and I have 2 tops and a pair of flip flops!) but bonzo has aged her by a decade

mum41 I've baked a cake for you...*hands over lemon drizzle... Worry not what the press say - there are some journos on MN (me excluded) who are very high profile and badly disguised.... LOL@ the thought of having an income/background to be middle class [illusion of grandeur emoticon] You stick with us - we're all lovely and grounded; some would say reassuringly common

bonzo you rock chick FAB! I went to see the Prodigy when preggie - good on yer! So pleased to hear the bump is kicking - OOo, I love that.....until it finds your bladder!

Thanks JJ size 12 will have to wait a few more weeks while I tuck in

Tee2072 · 04/03/2009 17:36

Yes, I get to eat the posh dinner. And will probably have 1/2 a glass of cava and 1/2 a glass of white wine, despite raised eyebrows!

I've never been to Asda, although I understand it is exactly like Walmart in the States. I would probably buy undies there, since I buy undies at Primark here!

Along with the stress of the dinner tomorrow night, my immediate boss is out of the office for who knows how long due to having surgery. So I'm the only one with keys to his desk, so they were borrowed by aforementioned Coworker today who then asked if she could keep them as I will be in meetings all day tomorrow and off Friday. I said sure so long as you promise to stay out of the Personnel files. She then proceeded to tell me that she can get everything in them from our server, to which I replied, 'no, you can't. Some of that stuff is only in hardcopy.' She was not pleased that I could look at things she knows nothing about! But I am the Assistant Head of HR (in duties if not title)!

mrsboogie · 04/03/2009 17:37

common as muck on 'ere

now I must go and out on my nice pink velour trackie and hoops and get down the spar for some cans of stella...

jj you'll have to drop us some hints about these ill-disguised journos

hedgepig · 04/03/2009 17:41

Mum41 do not worry about the asda knickers, at least you have some on! I did try tesco pants once but they didn't fit my bottom very well. Asda is a bt complicated to get to from here but I'm going to try online groceries, my bessie mate says it is loads cheaper than tesco.

Got O weighed today at 21 weeks he is 12lb 13oz which is nicely on his 2nd centile line.

johnworf · 04/03/2009 17:52

mrsb can I see a pic of you in your juicy couture trackie? Don't forget to let the muffin top out for some air.

OOOH that coffee concoction sounds brilliant! I'll put it on my wish list of things I would like to have but can't Something good must be happening as I'm finding my pants sitting on my hips whereas the top button used to look as though it was going to fly off at any given moment. Only downside is I know I'll lose it off my hips and my belly will be the last to go. Oh, and my boobs will shrivel to husks, then my belly will go.

hedgepig well done O! He's piling it on.

tee booby trap the personnel drawer so you'll know if she's been in there. I usually find placing a hair across a file (hers for example) and if it's gone next time, you know who to blame. Yes, I've done same job as tee in the past and I know all the tricks

ermintrude yep, all those makes are scandinavian ones. So much more colour and imagination in them than anything I can find anywhere else In answer to your question, yes, they are still in business. Big demand for them too it seems. (Btw Toby Tiger isn't scand though...think it might be British but not sure).

mrsboogie · 04/03/2009 18:10

oh dear, I fear we have reached the end of the road with the Amby D is now in the habit of bouncing his whole body up and down in it furiously and by the terrible banging racket its making I fear it won't be long 'til it either tips right over or comes down through the ceiling.

I fell a static cot and an experiment in controlled crying coming on...

/reaches for the gin bottle

johnworf · 04/03/2009 18:20

hehe. mrsb He might well surprise you. K did. She loved being rocked to sleep in her crib and I though 'oh god, she'll never go off in the big cot'. But she did and she does. Hint: Put something like a rolled up towel around him at first so he can feel a boundary if he looks a bit lost. They don't like feeling nothing around them when they're used to it being enclosed. Just for a few days until they get used to it.

On the upside, you should get what you paid for it. They seem to hold their value very well on Ebay. If you sell on Ebay though, insist on cash on collection. You'll avoid losing money in Paypal fees that way

This morning I received the new copy of the Tiffany catalogue. I waved it in DH's face and he feigned blindness and deafness all in one go I reminded him my birthday isn't far off (it is, it's July) and that my rings were getting loose now (isn't that good dear?) I'm trying to sell him the idea that I need an eternity ring so that I don't lose my wedding and engagement ring as they're rattling around my finger now

I think my chances are very slim - pun intended.

mrsboogie · 04/03/2009 19:00

he might jw they put him into a cot in the nursery and he played for a bit and went off to sleep

MUM41plus5 · 04/03/2009 19:07

jj cake was delicious thanks!

bonzo Kaiser Chiefs sounds excellent, I've only seen a couple of live acts that was at the Henham Festival 2007, went to see Damien Rice but really enjoyed Magic Numbers too

mrsb When I put the boys into their cots they slept alot better, their little arms stretched out over their heads as if to say 'at last some room'

mrsboogie · 04/03/2009 19:33

fingers crossed mum41

hedgepig · 04/03/2009 20:04

I don't know what to do. Just picked B up from a play date 1st time he has been invited and we don't really know these people (but they are pretty POSH). He has had a large wee accident but did not say anything to his host I'm sure he must have wee-d their new carpet. Do I say something or not? Like I'm very sorry that B wee-d on your carpet because maybe it didn't go on the carpet and then he isn't invited again because he might wee on the carpet or he isn't invited again because he did wee on the carpet. [head going to explode emoction]

MUM41plus5 · 04/03/2009 20:05

You left me with no choice but to put a couple of pics on my profile to prove my lack of chavyness
top is my wedding day June 2007 under that is on holiday summer 2006
not a pink velvet tracksuit in sight and please note the lack of 'in your face' jewellery opting for a more elegant minimal look
probably not great pics but it scares the hell out of me to think anyone would think I was a chav, would have nightmares about it if I hadn't put up pics

Oh mind you I do have a lovely chunky wrist watch at the moment, very tasteful one though

jeanjeannie · 04/03/2009 20:20

I have the mother of all headaches - think this is the start of something snot related

mum41 I have indeed studied your pics (with a magnifying glass for fine detail) and I concur that you are not in the least bit chavtastic *cue crowd applauding!
I love that pic of your little girl with snow on her hair - so cute. She has got fab hair. I do like a man in a kilt

Oh and thanks for mentioning the Magic Numbers - I was wrestling with their name last night - just couldn't think of it - I was trying to describe them to DP and he was looking at me blankly. Cheers for solving the mystery.

hedgepig oer....that's a dilema...not sure. I may be tempted to say something....not sure. Sorry that's no help. Oh why do people have carpet and not a sensible wipe clean floor?! I think you need the advice of mums with older ones. I'm dreading potty training.

jw nice subtle work their with the catalogue

mrsB good luck with the cot - I know how difficult it is with bad sleepers - you value any sort of continuity.

TIme for bed yet?

mrsboogie · 04/03/2009 20:22

oh my God what a lovely lovely wedding dress mum41 and you look beautiful and not a day over 30!

In the nicest possible way I think you possibly worry a little bit too much! we like to take the piddle a bit on here about our inner chavs but I doubt any real ones would ever think to come on a website about parenting - not when there's all that Jeremy Kyle to be watched

jeanjeannie · 04/03/2009 20:34

Is Jeremy Kyle still on?

OP posts:
ermintrude13 · 04/03/2009 20:35

Lovely wedding pic mum41! And like mrsb says, don't worry about chav accusations. I myself have gotten into trouble with my penchant for Gregg's sausage rolls, but there's no Fortnum's near me so what's a girl to do? .

hedgepig I'd do a call after DC's bedtime and say - I think B had an accident at your house - his trousers were soaked but he was too shy to mention it. So you might like to check where he was sitting/playing - sorry, hope he didn't leave a puddle!
If he had left a puddle they might be a bit confused, and if not they'll appreciate your having called anyway. All DC have accidents now and then, it's no big deal and wee comes off a carpet fine if it's not dried on. UNLESS they knew and left him in his wet clothes, which would be terrible. That's my problem you see, overactive imagination. I'd call them, it'll help you get to know them better

I saw Jarvis at Brixton Academy when 7 months pregnant with DS. He loves Pulp

MUM41plus5 · 04/03/2009 20:37

Ok, its snowing outside now, come back spring all is forgiven

Yeah I guesssed that mrsb note to oneself not to take things too much to heart
hope D lets you get a good nights sleep!

all quiet here at the moment so think I will get an early night just in case little master ruddy cheeks wakes again later

and besides I think there's a Jeremy Kyle special on tomorrow I want to be up early for, shame I can't get the stella delivered with the milk

Tee2072 · 04/03/2009 20:46

Lovely pics mum41

I have put a new pic of me which DH took tonight on my blog Tee's Blog.

Oh and my haircut from last week!

johnworf · 04/03/2009 20:49

Ah yes ermintrude but does he love common people?

mum41 we're only joking you know! I don't think there's anyone, certainly on this thread anyway, that is a self confessed chavster. We're only pulling your leg. Btw your DH has an impressively large sporan

mrsb great start that D likes the nursery cot. You're half way there really.

Like ermintrude said hedgepig, I'd phone them up and just ask and explain. Don't let the posh voices put you off. They're no better than you

Only time I've seen a band when pregnant was The Cult in 1985 in Manchester Ritz, 6 months pregnant with DD#1 although I did go to the Hacienda when I was 6 months pregnant with DS#1 in 1988.

JJ get thee to thy bed with Nurofen!!!! Hope you're feeling better soon

jeanjeannie · 04/03/2009 20:50

SNOW Oh rats, I thought that'd all gone! mum41 I think we can get Red Stripe with our milk....you have to say it's for the kids though

ermintrude that sounds like fine wee wee advice. What, no Fortnums in Notts....I thought they were opening a concesion in the Victoria Centre.... Ooo, speaking of which - is that weird clock still in there. I used to love that as a kid!

Funeral news: This is bonkers. My Gran died on Feb 28th and it's taken my parents till yesterday to get the death certificate (doc wouldn't hand it over??!!) and now they're told the earliest they can get a funeral is.....March 23 and that'll have to be confirmed tomorrow Is it me or is that a hell of a long time to wait?

Lovely pic tee! See the belly is coming along nicely Can't believe I was where you are now when K was born....seems an awfully long time ago....probably because it was.
