oooh, I do love a new thread

OP posts:
herbaceous · 12/02/2009 20:35

Hooray! And what a lovely name. How marvellous. We demand pictures. Well, I demand pictures.

scotlass · 12/02/2009 20:44

Thank goodness! Was beginning to worry....
Warmest congratulations to dan and mrdan. Rose is a beautiful name and the labour will be forgotten (sort of) by the time she's having toddler tantrums . Can't wait to see the pics and hear what happened.

I'm a wreck tonight from the emotional trauma that is DD's homework. Plus the wee minx tried to pull a fast one to stay off school sick this morning. Spent the whole morning worrying that the school would ring as the calpol had failed only to be reassured by the lovely lady in the office DD had just been seen at lunch laughing and joking with her friends . Baby had been very wriggly today so that's helped!

LoobyLou36 · 12/02/2009 20:50

congratulations dan great name. Can't wait to see the pics!!

winemakesmummyclever · 12/02/2009 21:30

Congratulations dan and mr dan and welcome little Rose!

Fantastic news of her arrival - shame about the hb, but getting them here safe and sound is what counts. Well done!

Hope you are both getting along fine - enjoy your lovely little girl!

tracyea · 12/02/2009 21:33

Congratulations Dan, Mr Dan and little Rose Dan!
What lovely news - I always think that it doesn't matter how they get out as long as they get out safely.
Hugs to you all

tsom · 12/02/2009 22:42

great news dan, mrdan and rose, well done
can't wait for pictures

lillylivered · 12/02/2009 23:45

Um hello (tentatively peeks round door).

Can I come in like? Have just had BFP this morning after years of TTC#2 (DD is 4). I really want to be excited but just scared after a MMC at 12 weeks last summer. Horrible memories.

Trying to stay positive but it's early days isn't it 5 weeks? It all feels so fragile. I want to stay in bed until the 12 week scan in case anything happens (and I can't believe I went sledging and got pissed on champagne 2 weeks ago!)

I'm SO gonna be checking me pants!

Also have no symptoms yet. Wish I had MS, could do with losing a stone!

VJay · 13/02/2009 10:57

Hi lillylivered congratulations on your BFP, I just wanted to hibernate until I was 12 weeks too. As for knicker checking, I should have shares in andrex . My MS arrived at 5.5 weeks, so yours could be just round the corner, good luck xx

sydneysuze · 13/02/2009 12:15

Hooray! Congratulations danfamily great news indeed. Lovely cockle warming stuff.

scotlass I have to say I agree about avoiding the caravan at 38 weeks - I would find it a nightmare but you know yourself best. Unless of course you have one of those enormous American RV things like a movie star...

Hi and congratulations to glimmer and lilylivered no more sledging for you please!

All well with me so far (9.5 weeks today)and no more scans due until 12 weeks, just sleeping all the time and forgetting my own name but that's all par for the course! What do you ladies think about taking the baby aspirin 'just in case'? I'm starting to wonder if I should....

aquababe · 13/02/2009 12:39

Big Congratulations to dan and dbno

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 13/02/2009 14:29

Sorry I haven't been on for a while

Hello to all newbies

dan congratulations! And a huge welcome to litte Rose. I hope you recover really quickly. It can be really traumatic not having the birth you want to, and you are allowed to feel hard done by. It's so easy to say that any birth with a good result is a good birth (and it is true) but it can leave you feeling like you have failed in some way. I hope this doesn't apply to you at all and you are feeling strong and positive (and not too knackered ) but I wanted to say that if it is how you are feeling then it is normal, and you've still done a fantastic job!

xxx

dan39 · 13/02/2009 14:34

Hi all from hospital, just waiting go home! God it was hard work - and I was away from mn for ages!! Rose is of course beautiful but I am worried about breaking her now. .. Boobs huge and sore - when does it turn to milk? Shy she is asleep on my lap! Can't believe she was inside me... Details later, ta for your worrying about me!

Wheelybug · 13/02/2009 14:40

Welcome Lilylivered and congrats ! Don't worry about the sledging and champagne. I got quite pissed the night before I got a BFP (and had actually had a faint one that afternoon - but it was an ebay cheapy which I'd had to hold up to the light and I had been trying for 2 years so didn't believe it could possibly be positive. oops !)

Well done on updating the list Scotlass - not long for WMMC or Bunny. I think Tsom is now a bit earlier as she's had her c-sec date booked but can't remember when it was other than round my due date.

Sydney - have you discussed aspirin with anyone ? Maybe see your GP (although they may not be very up on the idea) ??

On the subject of aspirin - I was told to stop taking it today (36 weeks). I can't remember if it was Scotlass or Tsom (sorry) who wasn't sure.

Had 36 week growth scan and check today - all ok. Baby is measuring almost a pound heavier than dd did at birth (but then she was only 4 lbs 9 oz !) but that still feels a bit strange. I ought to be getting my head round the idea of having a baby v. soon !! BP was ok, no protein so think it was lack of fluids as guzzled water since yesterday. Being checked every week now (no more scans though).

Wheelybug · 13/02/2009 14:41

x-post with Dan - LOL at 'worried about breaking her'. I can remember in hospital with dd and being convinced I'd broken her arm putting a sleepsuit on because it was a bit bendy . She was of course fine.

bunnyinheadlights · 13/02/2009 15:40

congrats dan and family!!! beautiful name - it's on our list as well!! i love the fantastic news of brand new baby - so great to see so many graduates! my milk didnt visibly come in till day 4/5 - so dont worry - i think when baby nurses something comes out you just cant see it (colostrum) so keep at it - and it will come soon, promise! enjoy your new babe

aarghhh - cant believe that wmmc and i are at the top of the list now!! i used to look with awe and at those at the top of the list, never thinking it will be me! excited but also in disbelief. wmmc i cant believe how you are so dedicated and ploughing through your assignments!

wheely glad to hear that protein has disappeared and scan went well your turn before too long (who knows you could even beat wmmc and myself to it!)

hugs to everyone else and welcome to newbies!

Wheelybug · 13/02/2009 16:12

arrgh don't say that Bunny - I really don't want to beat either of you. Although if dc2 comes at the same gestation as DD I would beat you () but it wasn't her choice to come then. I would like to get to 38 weeks though at least and really I'd prefer a monday to a friday as dd will be in pre-school rather than at home at the weekend. And I'd quite like to go into labour naturally in the earlyish morning so we can get dd to nursery, my parents can make their way up whilst she's at nursery, I can pop the baby out early afternoon and be home in time for tea . AH well, one can dream.

HerNameWasLola · 13/02/2009 18:23

Afternoon lovely ladies

Great news from Dan and I totally agree Rose is a lovely name! Hope you are home by now. Looking forward to the photos, when you have a spare 10 minutes

Good news here on the blood results I got my down's risk today, 1:19278 and the consultant said that the other levels are all fine, and there is nothing worrying him/giving him cause for concern (I asked! ) He's going to scan me again on 9th March at 15+2, he's hoping to do an early anomoly scan so still keeping everything crossed. Am obviously really pleased, but I still don't really believe it tbh. Has anyone else felt that way?

Welcome to Glimmer & Lily - Glimmer I think you'd not long graduated when I joined first time round! Here's to an uneventful 8 months. Lily I like the sound of champagne and sledging, was it both at once? Glad to hear you enjoyed it whike you had the chance! Don't worry about LO, am sure it won't have any effect, but maybe don't do ti again!

Glad to hear things are going well in the Wheely household, and that they're taking proper care of you Can imgine that worrying about BP would be enough to cause it to go up. Hope you're doing ok.

Sydneysuze making it past 9 weeks felt like a bit of a milestone to me, hope it does to you too - you're nearly in double figures now. Someone told me the 2nd trimester flies by. Let's hope they're right!

Valz congrats on the great scan Am also surprised you're not being monitored more closely with twins. Would having a private scan in between be an option for you? But for you that you have to go down that route. As you say though, the main thing is that everything seems to be fine with the babies

Scotlass hope you survived homework hell What subject was it? At least it's the weekend now!

Hope you all have a lovely Valentines' day, with lots of very romantic DH/DPs (though probably only one each!) Just think, this time next year we will all (hopefully) be knee deep in nappies! The romance!!

tsom · 13/02/2009 18:25

dan if your boobs are big and sore then milk is probably on its way in now, I only knew after about 3 days when saw a milky trickle from ds1's mouth after a feed, I think the volume of colostrum prior to that is quite small.

lily I spent the week before my bfp running and drinking fizzy wine on holiday, had given up hoping at that point

Still can't quite believe that things are getting imminent here -my cs date is 17th march, my irish mother is very excited and thinks we should call the baby patrick/patricia . I will officially be 39.1 then but really 37.5-38 I think but couldn't convince hospital of this, babe was measuring about 5.5lbs 2 weeks ago at 33 "official" weeks so they just laughed when I said I thought I was 31 weeks...

Fozzie78 · 13/02/2009 18:38

Hi Everyone, just called by to check on Dan and read the fab news, congratulations, Rose is a beautiful name.

sydneysuze · 13/02/2009 18:49

Great news lola on your scan and blood test results

Really happy to read that. And I know what you mean about double figures. Unfortunately my own figure also seems to be doubling as I'm already showing! I guess I was pregnant so recently that my body has just settled back into it's old bump groove already. Ach well, don't mind really as so over the moon to be up the duff

I'll also be going through the extra anomally scan ordeal at about 15 weeks (a fetal heart one) so I feel for you there. Let us know when it's coming up.

Wheelybug · 13/02/2009 18:59

Wow - great nuchal results Lola - and totally understand what you mean about not believing it - I am 36 weeks today and still don't believe it !! Am assuming I will once baby is born ???

Tsom - actually I really like Patrick (not so keen on Patricia though) but DH doesn't like the obvious shortened forms so can't be persuaded. Although might be a bit naff for a St Patrick's day delivery !!

lillylivered · 13/02/2009 20:39

Thanks for your friendly hellos. I'm SO gutted, I actually started bleeding today. Can't effing believe it. Only got BFP yesterday for godsakes. I'm so angry I could only manage being pg for one sodding day. How rubbish is that?

Sorry to bring the thread down gals but can;t think who else would understand. I'm only 5 weeks but GP has booked me in for scan on sunday. On past experience I really think they're not gonna be able to tell me anything this early. I'd rather sit it out. GP was v sweet saying it may not be a MC yadayada, I feel so certain as I've been here before. Hey ho.

Hope y'all are faring much better. Thanks for listening. x

glimmer · 13/02/2009 20:45

Thanks for the welcome. This thread is moving fast! I had a viability scan yesterday and we saw a heartbeat! Measurements were right on as well and I liked the consultant that said "let's go with your ovulation date, rather than LMP".

Hernamewaslola - I was a bit out of it after graduation (because of the pre-eclampsia and all the fuss they made). Did you have the same name then?

Wheely - yes, you will believe it after the baby is born :-) :-)
