OP posts:
mumface · 05/02/2009 20:18

Boo hoo shiver...plumber said heating won't be fixed till Tuesday!Have 1 poxy gas fire in living room to heat whole house.Having to glue clothes onto naked toddler. He even wants his nappy off but won't use potty! We are stuck in this room all day & think i am going mad.
When i told my Ex dh the situation he just said 'its not actually the coldest day of the year u know just the biggest snowfall'
And my mum pointed out we never had central heating or double glazing when we were kids. How did we cope?

tracyea · 05/02/2009 21:21

Hello everyone

School closed today so we all had a snow day - great fun! DH and I spent all day not discussing anything important since the kids were there!!

mumface tell ex DH where to shove his weather forecast and don't you just love mums sometimes!

Got boobs like dolly parton today- there are some perks then!

dan i went swimming when I was 40+1 - sat on a woggle and wiggled for an hour - worked a treat!

dan39 · 05/02/2009 21:23

Can you borrow any plug in heaters from anyone? Or buy a cheap one or two? We have one of those halogen ones that was about a tenner and belts out heat but is bulb driven so not too costly to run.

LoobyLou36 · 05/02/2009 23:06

dbno congratulations - hope you are both well

robberbutton · 06/02/2009 09:37

Good morning

Still here which I'm v excited about - it's now been a whole 22 hours! Am desperately looking for symptoms - had backache yesterday and last night felt too sick to read, which was great

I'll be careful what I wish for - my friend got pregnant after an mmc and prayed for loads of symptoms, and she's still throwing up all evening at 13+ weeks! Anythings good at the moment though.

dan I think I'm only 6+1 or so so will wait a couple of weeks before thinking about scans. I'm sure I read somewhere that if you have had a mc you can be offered an early scan for reassurance, but I think my doctor / hospital will just laugh hysterically if I ask

mumface hope you warm up soon! When we were potty training DS we let him run around without clothes on all summer, and it was a huge fight to get him to wear any after that.

HerNameWasLola · 06/02/2009 09:51

Hello ladies

I have been thinking about joining (re-joining) for ages, and for some reason have decided to take the plunge right now, hope that's ok!

I remember a lot of you who are about to pop from when I was here last, although I have changed my name since then - I was Kate (really, I still am )

I will (hopefully, pray god) be 11 weeks tomorrow. This is my 3rd pg, I had a mmc in October/November 2007 and we lost our little boy, Thomas, at 17.5 weeks in April 2008. He had a chromosome disorder which was "incompatible with life" We had very abnormal blood results from the nuchal then had to have weekly scans until an amnio at 15.5 confirmed our worst fears and I was induced a week or so after we got the results.

I have done a lot of work since last May to get myself ready to try again, both mentally and physically, and mostly this time I'm not too mad so hopefully it's worked! We've been lucky to have the most FANTASTIC consultant who I spoke to the day I got the bfp (18th Dec)and who has scanned me at 7 and 9 weeks. Both scans have been great, spot on for dates which has been a huge relief. We're seeing him for another scan on Monday when he may do the nuchal if he feels the LO is big enough, otherwise we'll have to wait a week or so... (somehow!) The biggest hurdle for us in many ways will be getting the full nuchal results and that time is looming now - I want to get on with it (felt like January lasted for months) but at the same time it's pretty scary - I know you all know what I mean!

Having been lurking more or less since I found out I'm pg again, so I was so sad to see Napa's news. I hope you're getting all the support you need Napa Have you checked out the Emmsy's Angel's mc thread?

DBNO woooo hoo! Am thrilled for you and your little boy!

Cece wotcha! lovely to be on the same thread again, let's hope things end very differently for us both this time

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 06/02/2009 10:14

Lola welcome and congratulations! Sounds like you've had a tough time (understatement). Definitely empathise with time passing really slowly.

dan hurray for getting in touch with tutor. See if you can get anything done now ( don't think I could ). What course are you doing? Any signs of popping yet (I love living vicariously through other pregnant ladies, makes this pregnancy seem like it will actually produce a real baby)?

mumface Tuesday?! Have you got an oil-filled heater? I think they're brilliant. Your mum and xh are being really helpful with their comments

tracey boobs are perks when not sore

ashleighbeee · 06/02/2009 15:24

Hello all!!! Its been a while since i've posted but i've been busy at work etc, so my apologies!!

Congratulations to all the newbies, I hope that you're all here until the end!!

Welcome Lola I am really sorry to hear about your previous pregnancy, I hope all goes well at your nuchal scan - sounds like you have a brilliant consultant helping you through this.

And all those mums about to burst i cant explain my excitement for you! hurry hurry hurry up now! and dont forget to update us!

Well done on getting in touch with your tutor Dan! I am sure that you'll be a fabulous super mum and get everything done in time for your deadline :D

Mumface my radiators are on 24/7 at the moment - it is bloody cold out there i hope you have 25 layers on and your little son is at least keeping his little bottom warm wearing a nappy!

Not much news here - I am 12 weeks on Tuesday and I havent heard from my midwife - i dont know what to do! I called reception at the surgery yesterday and rude lady said 'midwife will call you when she's good and ready' Since i havent decided what hospital i'd like to use etc i'd like the blinkin midwife to call me now.. I had a bit of a cry at work about it to the girls who know, made me feel a bit silly afterwards.. but i really dont know what to do, i feel like i've slipped through the net and they're forgetting about me! She is in again on Tuesday then Thursday so does anyone have any suggestions on what to do next?

Well thats my moan over, hope you're all having a lovely day, its almost dark here - and only 1/2 the work force has turned up walking home on the icy pavements tonight though - walking or sliding down on my bum whichever way i'm getting home ready for the rest over the weekend!!

Speak soon hopefully xx

Wheelybug · 06/02/2009 15:42

Hi All

welcome Lola - hope the time until your nuchal hurries up. Thinking of you and hoping you're hear for good this time.

Robber - when we werehaving trouble conceiving after my m/c I remember saying 'I don't care if I throw up every day if I get pregnant'. Whilst not every day, I am still being sick some days at 35 weeks (and was sick every day from 9 weeks to 20 something weeks). But, I would rather be 35 weeks pregnant and throwing up than not IYSWIM!

Not much to report here - on the boring saga of my hospital bags, I had to go and collect the damn mothercare order from the DHL depot this morning and popped to asda to get a few bits so all I have to do now is arrange it into bags. Am only waiting for the delivery of 2 new outfits for the baby (non-essential as have stuff from dd), nursing bras (bit early to be measured) and my aromatherapy oils - being dropped off on monday by the lady who is going to do reflexology on me in a couple of weeks to try and get things going...

herbaceous · 06/02/2009 15:55

Hello all you new ladies! I've found it's a long and trying road to 12 weeks, then a whizz down the other side. I'm now nearly 20 weeks, and can't believe I'm half way there!

Cromwell is so lively. I can feel him every day, and even felt him from the outside last night! What's it going to be like as he gets bigger?

Is anyone else suffering from really dry scaly nipples? Yummy. I'm trying various cures, including lip balm and dry foot cream, with limited success...

dan39 · 06/02/2009 16:33

Wish mine was whzzing out....

sydneysuze · 06/02/2009 17:09

Hullo ladies! Just wanted to post a huge thank you as I've been lurking on here since Jan 17th and you have all given me such strength. I had a mc at 5.5 weeks in Dec 07, then horrifically lost my little boy at 23.5 weeks to Left Hypoplastic Heart in August 08, followed by another 5.5 weeks mc in Dec 08. Am now, drumroll, 8.5 weeks up the duff again and scared witless! Had spotting, cramping and bleeding in the last 3 weeks so thought I had had another mc but scan at local EPU today showed a strong heartbeat, everything in right place, right size for dates.....fingers crossed this one's a fighter!

scotlass · 06/02/2009 17:25

sydney that's fabulous news, congratulations. Pg after mc is a real rollercoaster but it sounds like you can join the 4th time lucky gang too. I'm so sorry for your losses, losing your DS at that late stage must've been heartbreaking.

Welcome back lola here's to a long and uneventful stay this time

Dan won't be long now, try and enjoy your last few days of freedom tho' I know it's hard when you just want to meet your girl. Take it from me though you'll be knackered for years to come and look back at this time with fond memories . Applause for phoning your tutor, see how it goes - don't put too much pressure on yourself.

herb my nipples also went a bit scaly and then some milk came out when I had a squeeze, not sure why I did squeeze really but rubbed it in and they're fine now!

mumface hope you're keeping warm and managing to keep clothes on your little one. My DD was exactly the same, I used to get 'you're a bad mother looks' when she was about 3 wandering around town in a t-shirt in December. Mums are so sympathetic sometimes, not! Mine always has to emphasise she had it much harder oh and my childless older sister works so hard and must be exhausted .

I've exploded and now look like I've a beach ball stuck up my jumper. Still get the not very helpful comments you're neat for 7 months (cue mad panic re poor growth) then another helpful colleague exclaimed oh my god you have been eating the pies. I can feel the hormones kicking in where it's either violence or tears - roll on 6wks so I can get away from work!

sydneysuze · 06/02/2009 17:50

thank you scotlass I hope so too!

lola fingers crossed for your nuchal scan results coming early and being as good as possible.

Scans are such scary things when you've experienced the worst aren't they? I don't think I'll ever be able to look forward to one again!

ladyhelen2 · 06/02/2009 19:14

Hi Lola I think I remember you from the mc avengers thread in the summer. Am thrilled you've made it over here and congratulations to you. Hers hoping for a long and uneventful stay here for you!

DBNO congratulations on your new arrival too!

Am now 27 weeks and now feel mahoosive.Seem to have grown in the past two weeks or at least thats what everyone is telling me! Baby is moving about loads too so thats a good sign. Am out tonight. Off to see the Vagina Monologues so hoping that will be a laugh although my pelvic floor is def suffering so I'd better not laugh too much. Its always a bit of roulette when I sneeze at the moment so better pack the Tena Ladies!
Right lift pulled up.

Bye

maz32 · 06/02/2009 20:41

HI everyone, how r u all. looking 4ward the weekend? im going back to work on sunday after my week off, so lets wait and see if theres anymore dramas?!xx

cece · 06/02/2009 20:43

Yeah Lola, good to see you hear again. Good luck for the next scan.

hello to sydneysuze too. I am very sorry to hear about your losses, hope this one is a sticky one for you.

maz32 · 06/02/2009 20:45

welcum and congratulations!!sydney, u sound like u have had a rollercoaster of a ride. cum and join us, we will look after u xx

bunnyinheadlights · 06/02/2009 21:52

wow this thread moves fast in a few days!

first very sorry to napa re your news. no one should ever have to go through this, it's cr*p. i hope you take good care of yourself. the erpc itself is ok from a physical recovery perspective, but the emotional recovery is always more of an uphill. do come here to post if you need support.

bunnyinheadlights · 06/02/2009 22:06

hello to newbies - sydney sorry to hear about your history, esp. the late loss - it's such a trauma. i am pleased though that you are pg again, and glad you are here - we all need hand holding at some point! this thread got me through some tough times.

lola! /kate! welcome back! like the new name. so pleased to see you back here. it's been such a long and tough ride for you.congrats on the bfp - does this mean you are due in aug/sept? great to hear good scan results so far - you are almost there at the 12 week point - time does seem to drag between scans. do keep us posted and sending you lots of healthy baby dust!

wheely and dan thanks for the kick up the a*rse - i have now almost finished packing my hospital bag. well, except for a selection of cd's, food and something to wear home. but i figure at least i wont be sending dh out in a panic to buy the fun stuff like maternity pads and breast pads!

ladyhelen 27 weeks already! time is flying! it's so reassuring once you can start feeling the kicks.

herby congrats on cromwell being a boy!

winemakesmummyclever · 07/02/2009 09:20

Morning .

Welcome to lola, sydney & robber - hope that things go smoothly for you. Try not to set too much store by symptoms - everyone is different and they tend to come and go just to keep us on our toes!

Ladyhelen - 27 weeks already - wow, that seems to have gone so quickly. Well done and hope your pelvic floor holds up !

dan - good on you for getting in touch with the tutor. August is plenty of time and wee babies sleep a helluva lot (hopefully) - am sure you'll be able to get it done and dusted.

herby - like scotlass says, try squeezing your boobs and rubbing a bit of the "milk" that comes out on your nipples. It's meant to help with healing such delicate areas according to bfing mates.

bunny - do you live far from the hospital? I intend to take minimal stuff in with me, but that means nothing as I always overpack anyway .

Clean PJs/slippers/towel/toiletries/mat & breast pads/juice & snacks for me; nappies/ wipes /half dozen babygrows & vests/hat & mittens /muslins/towel/blanket for nipper. Just have to charge & pack camera and undies will go in at last minute. Not forgetting, my phone and some uni work (sigh) too.

Will probably come home in same clothes went in as having elective cs, and dh can bring wee fleecy suit for lo on the day (tip - put stuff you want for coming home IN the baby's car seat - men are not v good at looking for things ime ).

We only live 5 mins away and there is a Tesco up the road from the mat unit,so anything that is missing can always be brought later. Plus, I have mates working there who can always fetch my shopping orders in

Thanks to ds, I have been up since 5 am (he quickly went back to sleep next to dh), have written two docs for the group project, put the washer on, fed & watered ds and cleaned the kitchen. Feel pretty pleased with myself(and knackered), but am def getting dh up at 9 so I can crawl back into bed for an hour.

Hope everyone has a good weekend - the weather is meant to turn bobbins in Manchester tomorrow, so will spend the day shopping as our cupboards make Old Mother Hubbard's look overstocked!

Woohoo! Time to drag dh out of bed and get back in

ladyhelen2 · 07/02/2009 10:19

Well pelvic floor held last night. The Monologues are funny but there really is no holds barred! I thought I was pretty unshockable but hearing a whole theatre shout c!?$ was something I shall not forget!

Meant to add welcome to all the newbies. and also napa so sorry to hear your news. Its so unfair that anyone has to go through it. Thinking of you and hope you make it back here soon!

Am sitting here watching the live ski racing and feeling very envious of everyone who is going this year. I am a snowboarder and am really feeling the "loss" of not going this year. Still I wouldn't have it any other way, I have to admit! But am already planning next years trip and all being well, baby willbe joining us too! We took DS on his first ski trip when he was 7 months. A little young to put him on skis then but there will be no stopping him next year if his reaction to the snow we've had in the past week ( and his proficiency on the Wii ski game) is anything to go by. I've just bought his "outfit" for next year off ebay too!

dan anything yet? My relflexologist tells me there is a sequence that canbe done that will bring on labour. WOrth a try if you are desperate???

robberbutton · 07/02/2009 14:54

Hello - checking in for today! Thanks for all the welcomes. Am very pleased to be able to add to my list of symptoms (mild nausea and quite a bit of backache)... last night I went completely mental at DH for getting me the wrong kind of olives.

Will take your point though wmmc, and try not to panic too much if they seem to be more or less one day than another.

herby - maybe try lansinoh (sp) cream? I don't know if it works as well before bfing, but it has been the absolute BEST thing for my nipples with my two, they were never cracked or sore (except when the milk came in).

napa · 07/02/2009 15:03

thanks for all the messages. Dr told me to take at least 10 days off work which fortunately leads into a weeks annual leave so I've a good bit of time off.
Congrats dbno hope you doing well
Fantastic news lola, I remember you from threads last year and I'm really pleased to hear your news, hope the nuchal and pregnancy goes well
I've joined emmsy's for now but hope to be back with you later in the year (feeling positive!). Good luck to all

bunnyinheadlights · 07/02/2009 18:34

i can't believe that i forgot to say a HUGE CONGRATS tp dbno !!! how could i forget! what wonderful news - cant wait to hear the story. it's always so uplifting to see another graduate!

wmmc great list! i live about 20 mins from hospital, so abit of a pfaff if i forget something. but not the end of the world. my hospital "bag" looks more like holiday luggage for 2 weeks and i havent even put in my bathrobe or towel yet!! (they are in the dryer).

and good heavens - you are a superwoman/mom extraordinaire! how do you do All that course work, look after ds And all the other stuff? i can barely keep my eyes open in between the scoffing of cakes, chocs and any other food that comes across my way...

hi napa how are you feeling today? the long time off is great - my consultant told me i could go back to work after 1 day - i decided to get signed off for 1 week after erpc, and i Really needed it! rest lots if you can and take care of yourself.

welcome to hackney and robber too.
